Wandering Mausoleum

To stop the mausoleum's stride, you'll need to clean up around its feet first

Wandering Mausoleums are special Locations in Elden Ring. Mausoleums appear as walking buildings with four legs and are found throughout the Lands Between, often with their signature bells attached. Players must attack the skull-like deposits on the structure while avoiding damage to get the mausoleum to become accessible. These can appear on either the legs or along the base of the building, the latter of which necessitates jumping on top of it.

Wandering Mausoleum Guide for Elden Ring

  • Hit the skull-like deposits to make the mausoleum collapse. These skulls can be either on its feet, or around the mausoleum on top.
  • Around Mausoleums are spectral knights roaming the arena. After bringing it down, they disappear.
  • Mausoleum can attack by either stomping or performing a slam attack (Non-Bell variant). Their stomp is a near guaranteed death, for invaders/enemies included. The Snowfield Mausoleum fires exploding magic projectiles in an arc around it, dealing heavy Magic damage. It's recommended to hit the Grace at the Apostate Derelict to respawn in case of death.
  • Place your Boss Remembrance at the altar to Duplicate it. (Note: You do not have to have the Remembrance with you when you do this. If you previously acquired and used it, you can still receive a duplicate at a later time in your playthrough). Only one use per Mausoleum. Pick wisely!
  • It should be noted that you cannot regain a Remembrance Weapon that you have already obtained (in the same playthrough at least).
  • Mausoleums without a bell seem to only be able to duplicate Remembrances of bosses without Great Runes.
(via community testing: Regal Ancestor Spirit, Astel Naturalborn of the Void, Lichdragon FortissaxFire Giant, Maliketh, the Black Blade, Dragonlord PlacidusaxHoarah Loux, Warrior and Elden Beast are the only bosses with Remembrances that can be duplicated anywhere. Shardbearers' Remembrances, like Morgott's and Malenia's, will work with bell variant Mausoleums only.)
  • The Castle Sol and Consecrated Snowfield Mausoleums appear to be bugged for some people where using one of them renders the other unusable but this seems to not apply to everyone.

Players will hear mausoleums as they emit a distinctly loud bell sound as they walk about. They usually have a small roaming area, so they are easy to find. When you first want to access a wandering mausoleum, you must either attack the deposits on its feet or use the environment to climb up, jump onto the wandering mausoleum and destroy the deposits around the structure itself.  This can take considerable time depending on the location.

Once the mausoleum is static, you can enter it at any time to perform a Remembrance Duplication: This is only available once per mausoleum, so pick wisely! Performing this rite will enable you to obtain the multiple Remembrance Weapons (Boss Weapons) and magic that they grant. Boss Armor is not gated behind their remembrances, but you must have defeated them to purchase from Enia at the Roundtable Hold.

Wandering Mausoleum Locations

There are a total of 7 Wandering Mausoleums in Elden Ring. Monuments with bells will duplicate any boss remembrance. Monuments without bells will only duplicate the remembrance of a non-shard bearer boss. Each reward can only be received once per playthrough.

Locations:

  1. Weeping Peninsula, Bell: In the western area, east of Isolated Merchant's Shack. [Map Link] During the "late night" period of the day/night cycle, the Mausoleum stops moving for approximately seven minutes of real time. It will stop wandering wherever it is when this time is reached, but quitting out and reloading will leave it standing still at its spawn position, closest to the Isolated Merchant's Shack.
  2. Liurnia of the Lakes, Bell: northeast of Raya Lucaria Academy, in the waters in front of Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel Grace [Map Link]. To access this Wandering Mausoleum you must travel west of the tunnel entrance. Then you need to use the spirit spring to jump onto the Mausoleum when it walks close enough to the cliff wall. You can experiment with the spirit spring jump and also double jump with Torrent after using the spring and take no fall damage. You can also jump from the tombstones on the northern cliff, but you risk dying if you miss. Once on top of the Mausoleum, knock off enough skull piles to subdue it. Like the Weeping Peninsula Mausoleum, it stops wandering during "late night" for seven to eight minutes. Alternatively, hitting the legs will stop the mausoleum from moving, then you can snipe enough skulls to get it to kneel using a bow. The various rocks in the area can be used to get the right angle, the skulls are all on and around the grassy area level.
  3. Liurnia of the Lakes, No Bell: North of the Ruined Labyrinth Grace or, due south of the Mausoleum Compound Grace in Eastern Liurnia, north of the Church of Vows. It stops wandering for about seven minutes during "late night".

  4. Liurnia of the Lakes, No Bell: due north of the Mausoleum Compound Grace near Uld Palace Ruins, north of the Church of Vows [Map Link]. It stops wandering at night, in sync with #3.
  5. Mountaintops of the Giants, Bell: Just outside Castle Sol in the northern area. It stops wandering during "late night" for seven to eight minutes. [Map Link]
  6. Consecrated Snowfield, Bell: northwest of Ordina, next to the Apostate Derelict Grace. Warning: This one fires magical artillery into the air, bombarding the surroundings until it is subdued. It does not stop moving at night, but it will stop attacking when you're within the walls of the Apostate Derelict church, and won't start again immediately when you step outside. [Map Link]
  7. Deeproot Depths, Bell: North of the The Nameless Eternal City Grace. Can be jumped upon by climbing on the roots in the area (be careful of the many Basilisks), then you must destroy skulls on the top of the Mausoleum instead of the feet. It will stop wandering for exactly seven minutes during the "late night" period of the day/night cycle. [Map Link]

Wandering Mausoleum Notes & Tips Elden Ring

  • Note that if you don't find the white skulls on its feet, you will need to find a way to get to the top level of the structure. There should be elements in the environment around the area that can help you. Areas like cliffs or Spiritsprings nearby can assist with climbing the structure. After reaching the top, the skulls should appear much like those found its feet in other mausoleums. Clear them the same way to be able to enter and use the Wandering Mausoleum.

This would’ve been the perfect opportunity to make you re-fight the boss to acquire the copy of their remembrance.

“Miyazaki, the tarnished aren’t dropping enough frames in Liurnia”

“3 of these should do the trick!”

i'd love to strangle the r tard that tough the Consecrated Snowfield one was a good idea. Also their leg hitboxes are f-ed. Doesn't even touch my character but i still get damaged or die.

          • Dragonfire (or your choice of dragon communion incantation) will clean these things real fast. Generally you just need to hit two of the feet with a quick burst of it and you're golden.

I was so excited to encounter these things in-game during my first blind playthrough, since they were featured so prominently in the trailer and promo materials, and the design is so cool and evocative. I was then enormously disappointed to find out what they actually do. Huge waste of a very cool concept, much like the Four Belfries.

I accidentally came upon the late night sleep they do with the Weeping Peninsula one, and it made it really easy to go close and just spam gravitas on the legs. I started out by shooting arrows at it and it suddenly stopped moving, then I remembered they do sleep.

If there are 15 rememberances and 7 mausoleums the best thing is to figure out what your build will be focused on, strngth, dext or magic. Then only duplicate those rememberances. one way I do this is to backup my game prior to duplicating a remembrenace, then I see what I got at the lady of the fingers, if the armor, weapon, or magic are crap then I will restore my backup and continue on.

                    Lore related
Fact: from 7 mausoleum, only 5 has bells, and mausoleum soldiers are only guarding the mausoleum with bells. which is on Weeping peninsula, Liurnia of the Lakes, Mountain tops (castle Sol), Concecrated snowfield, and Deeproot depth.
my takes: Bells on mousoleum's belly are important for summoning those headless spirits, same as our spirit calling bell, and wraith calling bell. though it's not clear why only Deeproot depth's mausoleum that stop summoning those spirits after mausoleum is down.

Question, if there are only 7 mausoleums, does that mean you can only duplicate 7 remembrances since duplication can be performed only once per mausoleum? (New to the game by the way).

I have ASCENDED to the FINAL PLANE of HIGH IQ GAMING, and discovered that you can take down the Apostate Derelict mausoleum by shooting it from the cliff near the Rotten Duelist. So from the Ordina grace, head toward the mausoleum and you'll see the Duelist to your right. Not far behind him there's a little perch with an eagle on it, and if you have the Jar Cannon (Hand Ballista also works but Jar Cannon is way better), you can just shoot the mausoleum's feet with Explosive or Lightning Greatbolts. It stands still when you're up there so it's really easy to hit. -DIABETOR

If you finished the game and got yourself the Sacred Relic Blade, a couple of Wave of Golds will remove practically all the skulls from their feet

Idk why but for some reason the one in the consecrated snowfield was easiest to kill for me and my first one to take down

For how easy Radahn is if you use the field summons for him, it's crazy that his remembrance is worth 40k
At the beginning of the game, having attacked 0 enemies (if you don't count the mausoleum skulls), you can use him to get 190k souls immediately.

I do recommend his swords though. Easiest/fastest playthrough I've done so far. But still, twice as many runes as Greyoll. Combine the two to get a LOT of levels.

You should highlight: "You cannot regain a Remembrance Weapon that you have already obtained", I just duplicate Malenia's but you cant have 2 of her weapon. But unused remembrance carries to Ng+

The one in Consecrated Snowfield absolutely destroyed my framerate. Nothing else in this game tanked it as much as it did. If you're suddenly getting terrible framerates there, make sure you take it out of commission.

I spent about 45 min on my first playthrough trying to jump on one while it was moving, I finally got inside only to clip through the floor before reaching the chest... Thanks Myazaki!

Resting at Apostate Derelict is a really bad advice for the snowfield WM. Why wouldn't someone just hit the skulls quickly after surviving the artillery onslaught? It's safe enough underneath it.

I kind of wish they only let you dupe rememberances once per playthrough, or maybe let you see which redemptions you've gotten in the selection screen. My smooth brain is about to make an excel spreadsheet just to keep track of some digital swords.

If you’re not a str, dex, or faith build then there’s hardly 7 remembrances worth duplicating. Wish there was a more balanced distribution of int, int/faith, and arcane gear.

the mausoleum #3 on the list isnt showing any other rememberences other than the regal ancestor. i dont know is this is part of the glitch mentioned above but i did go away and come back to see the same thing. i'll leave the area a bit longer and see if it changes. if someone else could check this out as well that would be good.

                                            • Anonymous

The apostate derelict mausoleum is easy enough to clear the deposits off and make it sit as long as you can get to the grace in the first place without getting one shotted by the exploding blue fireballs, the deposits are underneath it so they can't hit you.

                                              • Anonymous

The way ALL these mausoleums work may be bugged not just one or two. I duplicated my remembrances willy nilly oblivious to some having a bell and some not, I didn't notice. I don't remember which ones I duplicated at which mausoleum except for Malenia's. I had to respec for ROB to beat her after she wrecked me in her second phase around thirty or forty times, she had killed me a lot before I started counting and I was getting PTSD flashbacks to Amygdala in the cursed and defiled chalice dungeon. I only persevered with her at all because I needed the needle and it was obvious I had zero chance of beating her in consecutive playthroughs with each more difficult than the last. I only had one mausoleum left by the time I got to the Haligtree it was the last one listed here for the mausoleum compound in Liurnia and according to this has no bell. But I did get her sword and the scarlet aeonia incantation regardless of what it says here.

The mausoleum at consecrated snowfield has the deposits that need to be removed are on the insides of its legs or at least enough of them to bring it down without having to worry about getting hit by the fireballs. If you have the rune farm sword there is no need to use a bow just cast wave of gold at the legs and it will remove the deposits just make sure to start running when you see debris start falling down.

                                                  • Anonymous

So I duplicated Malenia's Remembrance already and it gave me the option to do it a THIRD time at the mausoleum in Liurnia. Well I went for it to see what happens and it gave me nothing, but used the mausoleum. Hopefully this gets fixed in a patch.

                                                    • Anonymous

Either my mausoleum near Ruined Labyrinth (#3 on the list) is bugged, or non-demigod remembrances (Placidusax’s, in my case) can’t be duplicated after already acquiring one of the remembrance rewards. :(

                                                      • Anonymous

forgot that the shardbearers can only be redeemed at the bell ones, so i accidentally wasted one of them unfortunately.

Dude the whip is absolutely amazing for doing these, it doesn't collide with walls and has a wide sweep on horseback so you clear the whole foot just running in a circle around it swiping a couple times

How did everyone else deal with getting bombarded by the explosive blue fire from the mausoleum at consecrated snowfield? I think pretty much everyone trying to get to it for the first time is going to be caught out by the range that thing has. I hadn't read the wiki for the area yet, I was just sort of blindly riding around looking for interesting loot and I almost shat when the blue fire started landing all around me and I couldn't see who or in this case what was doing it. I did well dodging the explosions and I was almost at apostate derelict the first time it killed me, but it got me much further out when I tried getting my runes back. It even killed me a third time after I'd reached the safety of the apostate district grace, I chipped off the deposits to make it stop and it sat down quick enough to kill me before I realised it was coming down and too late to get out from under.

Most useless feature ever invented. Sure you can get another god weapon, but you cant get a second one of the one you already obtained. Which basically means, this is useless since you have to go into NG+ to get the second one anyway, so your gonna get all the bosses anyway. So whats the point of this?

When I played the first time, just chilling, and wearing headphones

Walking into the area and hearing that big bell from afar, and discovering it’s this big thing walking through. Getting up close and feeling the loud bell.

                                                                Haha, actually a good memory

And I just fought my first erdtree before that, and was doing summonings for it while checking out the area

Either way, I really like the lore of this headless legion of soldiers, but I wish there was more lore around them.

It swings constantly in a circle through its animation, and all of these small attacks make it so you can clear a foot in 1-2 R2's while riding in a circle around it.

That would explain why people don't get the prompt at either Castle Sol or Apostate District, as those are usually the last Mausoleums people use.

Personally, I never used the Mausoleum at Weeping Peninsula. I used all the other 6 Mausoleums, then I wanted to duplicate a 7th time at Weeping Peninsula and the prompt wouldn't show up.

                                                                                                                            • The Mausoleum in Castle Sol and in the Consecrated Snowfield are somehow connected.
I couldn't interact with the one in Castel Sol just after using the one in Consecrated Snowfield
I loaded an old backed up save and did some tests, whenever I use one of the two the other stops working, maybe they share the same state variable in code, probably a bug.

Not sure if its a feature - i saw no such effect in Liurnia or Concecrated Snowfield, but all the mausoleum soldiers disappeared permanently in the area (including mausoleum knights patrolling far away from it) after making Deeproot Depths mausoleum sit down on ground.
