Wraith Calling Bell use in Elden Ring

Wraith Calling Bell  can be used to summon a small, slow, ghost-like projectile that flies after a targeted enemy to hit them.

Elden Ring Wraith Calling Bell Notes & Tips

  • You can hold up to 1 Wraith Calling Bell.
  • You can store up to 600 Wraith Calling Bell.
  • Sell Value: -
  • Deals Magic damage.
  • Deals 3 stance damage.
  • Any equipment, sorcery, etc. that boosts Magic Damage can be used to boost the projectile's damage.
  • Has an extremely long range and tracks targets very well, but flies very slowly.
  • Using this item unlocked gives it a arc similar to thrown jars—with a much slower travel speed. Horizontally it behaves very similarly, but arched upward it seems to have a longer range.
  • This item can be used while riding Torrent.
  • While riding Torrent, use of this item does not slow Torrent to walking speed, like most spells or incantations do.  This can be very useful for attacking foes from a safe distance.

I have played through this game 6 times now. I thought I made it a point to collect every weapon, armor set, ash of war, spirit summons, spell and incantation on my first character (1 of 6). I have spent hours on this wiki and on youtube absorbing every last bit of this game. I partake in PVE and PVP, watch streamers and engage in the community to this day. I thought there was nothing I didn't know about it, I thought I had seen it all. Today I found this thing for the first time while making a new build prepping for the DLC. I have never been on this page before, I have never seen it used in game or in any of the videos I have watched from all corners of the internet. I thought there was an update I missed, or even possibly a bug that caused some cut content to load into my world. Nope. Been there since day 1. Just Elden Ring still surprising me 2 years later.

Does this actually do Magic damage ir is that a mistake? Both of the omen bairns say they do holy, which makes sense, and the projectiles are the same.

Lol just saw the glitch you can perform with erdtree greatshield. You get a machine gun that can even delete fast moving enemies without too much effort in the funniest way I’ve seen

            • Anonymous

Basically a slow glintstone pebble that does not take a spell slot. Deals similar damage with same fp cost.

              • Anonymous

Flies slowly but surely, so it is very unlikely to miss its mark; unless your target is one who simply refuses to sit still even after dodging.
The biggest advantage of this bell is that you can use it from horseback even while galloping at full speed — similar to the mounted Wraithcallers — making it a very safe tool for finishing off foes in the field you don't feel confident in getting close to. Try it against Draconic Tree Sentinel!

Put away your throwing knives and use this to draw individual enemies out. Gives you plenty of time to prep another attack.

                  • Anonymous

It doesn't slow you down if you use it while riding Torrent, so you can dash and cast it at the same time.

The underestimated cheesing tool due to its insane range. Stand on a ledge. Aim. The hit draws enemies to the ledge but they can't hit you, and what ranged attacks they have are easy to back away from. Then spam them with ranged and aoe attacks.

                      • Anonymous

The best use for this in my opinion is to lure out ancestral spirits that shoot long-range arrows. When they are hit by this (which has a very long ass range) they start running toward you instead of shooting.

Ngl we should’ve had wraith incantations, here’s my reasoning:
1: gives us another int/fai magic school, and int/fai didn’t get a lot of love in this game (no infusion, average/boring spells, only one special weapon that scales int/fai).
2: means that the wraith abilities are no longer linked to some crappy tools, two of which are very easy to miss.
3: allows the wraith abilities to be buffed by spell affecting talismans/buffs
4: maybe we could get the cool weapon buff and wraith breath the Omens have ( speculation, highly unlikely)

A good cheese stat for Rahdahn if you're stuck is to ride around on horseback ringing the bell from far away while you summon your pals to tank for you, the near-unlimited range basically guarantees he'll be constantly trying to refocus his aggro and whittle down his health

                              "Those who worship Revenants."
Well, that's some rather disturbing lore. Wonder what it says in the original Japanese. Because that sounds like one of those things with a twist to the translation to be discovered.

I used this to knock a guy off the ladder to the fallingstar beast in Mt. Gelmir. Probably the funniest use I've found for it so far.

Well i set out originally to create a Sun Bro. My char being a spiritual successor to my DS2 pure Faith caster build (people think it cant be done but trust me it melts everything). Heals and Lightning bolts left and right. Byt something was missing ... and FINALY I HAVE FOUND IT!! My CHIME! It may be pretty much useless tool but idgaf. Ill still skip about in the lands between reviving the glory days. Praise the SUN [T]/

Don't sleep on this item: It's a VERY effective pulling tool. It's range is longer than most other spells, and it only costs 7 FP. Any build can afford that.

It's not going to kill anything, but you can use it to finish foes or to attract them to things that will.

Budget way to save on glintstone scraps if you were going to absorb your own bullets for your carian retaliation shield spectral blades.

Terrible damage but great for those long range targets! Perfect for nailing treasure scarabs that are surrounded by powerful enemies and at from a far distance.

Unlike any magics of the Rancor family, the wraith summoned by this bell can be summoned while moving at speed on your horse. It also lasts an incredibly long time and has good tracking, making it excellent at finishing off General Radahn, dragons, or other bosses that cover a lot of ground very fast.
You can also use it to trip up the approach of an enemy Tarnished, which makes it easier to secure hits by attacking in concert with it.

                                            • I like to use this for harrying attacks and interruption on my STR/FAI build, much like throwing Rancor Pots. Gives me access to something very similar to Rancorcall without having to, you know, have that frustrating build.

This is garbage and needs a buff. Even if you are running a faith/int build with 79 in both which I main. Glintstone Scrap straight up beats this in fp and damage output. Testing all done on the giant at Secluded Cell before the Godrick fight. Glintstone Scrap: 4 fp hits for 370. Wraith Calling Bell: 7 fp hits for 177. Again I'm running an optimal build with the Wraith Calling Bell and it's still not out performing Glintstone Scrap which is bunk, I can't imagine how bad this is on a non hybrid caster build.

                                                • Anonymous

Walking forward with this while holding the Erdtree Greatshield, then using Golden Retaliation when you're on top of the projectile turns it into a free Golden Retaliation shot. If there's actually a use for this bell, this one kinda works.

                                                  • Anonymous

Its good to poke around enemies and very useful for those "Seek 3 Wise Beasts" Puzzles on the towers because of its long range.

                                                    • Anonymous

Using this with my Pyromancer build; the long range and precise homing is excellent, seeing as fireballs love gravity, as well as being able to fire of 6 to home in on a foe while I prepare to charge up some spells while they run headlong into them. Excellent against flying foes, these can knock bats out of the sky and will then proceed to turn and follow them down to the floor. FP cost isn't bad, and the damage is good enough to take out weaker enemies in 2-3 hits and is better with the Ritual Sword active. Enemies hit by these will aggro to you, while their comrades will be like "what was that?" allowing any summons you have to aggro on them as they sprint across at you while the rest sit about. Works GREAT on horseback, as your direction has 0 influence and you can just trot away slowly while shooting multiple as enemies try to catch up.

                                                      • Anonymous

something of small note but using a shield with thops barrier, when faced with NPC enemies that use the bell, the wraiths will not be dispelled but pushed away/around the barrier, and will continue to pursue you (unless it gets redirected into an object or ground). Unsure if this applies to Player summoned wraiths; requires further testing.

                                                        • Anonymous

Was this item not available in version 1.0 of the game?
I've gone to the location where it spawns in the newer versions but I can't find it there...

                                                          • Deals magic damage, and is buffed by magic scorpion and your flask buff . Odds are, you’ve only seen this in PVP to trigger the gross carian exploit, but it has some uses. The tracking is quite good and it will follow for a long time. I like to use from neutral just before going in to attack, and as a wake up on riposte/guard break/launch so it follows them if they try to run to heal. Fills the same niche there as cuckoo glintstones without the need to craft.

                                                            • Anonymous

I didn't see anyone else mention it, but Golden Retaliation works on this similarly to Carian Retaliation. Not so sure about the damage numbers, but it might be worthwhile if you happen to have a faith/strength build.

                                                              • For anyone interested in this, be aware that it's designed to be used by Int/Faith hybrids. That said, it's still useful regardless of your specific magic build. It has a slow projectile speed, great tracking, and an OBSCENE range -- longer than max lock-on distance. When used on horseback it barely slows you down and the projectile can fly backwards with ease, making this a decent way to fit in extra damage while kiting enemies on Torrent. The damage/FP efficiency is alright, but the special traits are really what you'd be paying the extra FP cost for. It's also one of the few methods available for Faith builds to deal magic damage. Terra Magicus works quite well with it given that you typically don't need to move while sniping, and even more so if you're playing with friends who also have the bell since TM is a party buff, and all allies being in one spot means the enemy is just gonna run straight into the stream of projectiles. Because of this, it can make for a pretty solid field boss opener. Omen Bairn and Royal Omen Bairn, by contrast, have shorter range and deal more damage. Their damage is also holy rather than magic, despite the attack looking extremely similar.

                                                                • Anonymous

This thing mixed with the ash carian retaliation is completely busted. I just went through a small rampage in the Siofra area and nearly 2 shot the local crucible knight using just this.

                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                    • Anonymous

Side note: Shield scaling for damage is broken as of the latest patch (1.03) and carian retaliation is putting out massive damage, likely 10x what is intended. Around 5k on the builds I've seen, but there could be more damage found in testing.

                                                                          • Anonymous

as of now (1.03) you can use this with Shield WA Carian Retaliation, parry this projectile and you get instant knife (use magic affinity on shield and upgrade it)

                                                                            • Anonymous

Cast this then use the Carian Retaliation parry instantly. You will do a truck load of damage with the 3 magic swords that appear. This scales with INT

                                                                              • Anonymous

You can use the bell and then immediately parry the slow moving projectile with Carian Retaliation to activate it. Not sure if intended but does decent damage if Carian Retaliation is on a shield after the buffs

                                                                                • Anonymous

If you time it well... you can use it to combo with a mighty shot with the bow! If an enemy is moving around, sniping it with the target lock and the bow will fail. now with this bell... It's only a matter of timing. You can also use it for pvp for baiting a roll and mightyshotting the ennemy just after the roll. Pretty fun !

                                                                                  • Anonymous

Fast and long lasting homing projectile good for making invaders stutter a bit to stop them from running from you ha.

                                                                                    • Anonymous

Me: haha bell goes bing bong

                                                                                      • Anonymous

Similar to hunter tools from BB, the FP cost, fact that using it lets you ride full speed, tracking, and utility made me try out a build centered around int/fth, I respecced my character to have 40 int/fth and was disappointed that the damage only increased by 60, with literally 9/9 it did 89 to godrick soldiers, while at 40/40 it did 153, to compare one could do 400+ damage with glintstone pebble and only 40 int. another issue is that it doesn't have a very good stagger, along with the other wraith death spells, so overall what could have made for an interesting archetype in pvp/pve with slow moving projectiles like death ranchor and the bell underperforms to the point of unusability. Shame too because the spells look cool and so does the bell.

My only last question is what type of damage does this weapon do? I think it deals magic because it's damage falls off HARD against carian scholars just like any sorcery, doing only like 40 damage to them with 40/40 but it somehow does poor damage against other sorcery weak enemies like crabs.

                                                                                        • Anonymous

Doesn't do great damage if you're already a ranged character. May be good for a melee character that needs a ranged weapon but doesn't have the carry weight available for a ranged weapon.
