For those complaining about the relative damage falloff late game – greases are meant to be used such that you find out what the given enemy is weakest to and then use the corresponding element, not stick to just one the whole game because it "looks cool". They in fact remain a very powerful FP-free damage buff if used accordingly

I think greases could either use an upgraded version or scaling because 85 fire damage is nothing later on.

This is one of my favorite consumable items. It's very easy to farm, it applies to almost any weapon, and it just gives you free damage to almost any enemy in the game, especially those tree spirits / avatars.

Anyone else feel like consumable’s (greases, rune arcs Etc) are less satisfying and worth using in elden ring compared to souls and bloodborne?

            • Anonymous

You can farm Fire Grease indefintely right at the beginning of the game.
Head to Warmaster's Shack in Limgrave and grab the 3 root resins next to the site of grace. Then head north, you should find 2 more root resins below a tree, next to one of those rock snakes. Then head north-east until you find two fire slugs. Grab all the smouldering butterflies in the area, then use the Memory of Grace to return to the site of grace. Repeat as needed.

Sounds like it adds a flat 85 damage. Does that mean it's MUCH stronger when applied to fast weapons like daggers, as compared to slower weapons loke colossal swords?

                • Anonymous

Seems like a big oversight that there's no spell to cast fire on right hand weapon like there is for literally every other status type and has been in every other souls game. I've even seen the enemies cast it on their weapons.

The spell versions are superior to grease too because they should last 90 seconds and scale with a stat.

Elden RIng: farming plants, butterflies and resins rather than enjoying gameplay (e.g. coop) and BUYING grease. What a huge waste of time and the only major negative point about Elden Ring's content so far.

Wondering the damage value vs a "coat armament" 'cantation & compared to a fire infusion (since it negates greases). I'm thinking the grease dmg is comparable to infusion dmg, but only lasts 60 seconds, keeping your wep flexible; & that the 'cantation out-damages the grease with enough scaling, but also costs FP & a slot. It may work like DS3, but I never played a caster over there to compare. Thoughts?

I can't seem to be able to activate the usage of the fire grease on my sword. Could something be wrong with the game?

How do you apply the grease? I can equip it in a slot on the hot bar, but it's greyed out. And I can't use it direct from inventory as there is no USE option for it.
