Elden Ring Focus Notes & Tips

  • Focus Increase by Rune Level and Mind Level
  • The soft caps for Rune Level are 71, 111, and 161
  • The soft caps for Mind are 40 and 60
  • Mind does not begin increasing Focus until Level 31
  • The formulas for calculating Focus on Rune Level are as follows:
    • Level 1 - 71 --> 75 + 30*((Lvl+79 - 1) / 149)
    • Level 72 - 111 --> 105 + 40*((Lvl+79 - 150) / 40)
    • Level 112 - 161 --> 145 + 15*((Lvl+79 - 190) / 50)
    • Level 162 - 713 --> 160 + 20*((Lvl+79 - 240) / 552)
  • The formulas for calculating Focus on Mind are as follows:
    • Level 1 - 30 --> 0
    • Level 31 - 40 --> 30*((Lvl - 30) / 10)
    • Level 41 - 60 --> 30 + 10*((Lvl - 40) / 20)
    • Level 61 - 99 --> 40 + 10*((Lvl - 60) / 39)
  • After adding both numbers together, the resulting number is rounded down for the UI menu. Armor resistance stats are also added to the result.

      I don't see the eclipse great shield listed here. Don't forget about its hidden passives to boosting your resistances!

        The Spiralhorn Shield should be added to the list of equipment and items that boost focus as it gives 50 points of focus as well as immunity and robustness. And unless it's explained incorrectly, that is more effective than either of the two shields listed while having other benefits too.

          Fun fact, Black Dumpling helm, Melania’s altered chest piece and Zamor’s gauntlets and legs all give 0 focus. Looks awful together but it’s nice with Howl of Shabriri for a hyper mode build that still has a little defense and other resistances instead of being naked.

            I was hoping the fingerprint set would give the highest focus given the fact that Vyke wears it and he's a big frenzy guy or maybe just have some frenzy-focused passive. Love that set and I'll probably run it anyway.

              From what I can tell, the Mushroom Set gives the highest Focus star boosts.

              Mushroom Head (not Mushroom Crown): 39
              Mushroom Body: 90
              Mushroom Arms: 30
              Mushroom Legs: 56
              Total: 215

                I think it is the pumpkin helm is the helmet that gives you the most focus (44 focus) it's just a real pain to get.

                  Important stat if you want to cast a lot of frenzy spell, seems a lot of heavier sets lack it while caster sets tend to have higher focus, kind of makes sense considering they'd suffer the most from the FP drain

                    You forgot to add the rift shield which boosts focus which is sold by the nomadic merchant below bellum Church NNE of Raya lucaria
