Glintstone Pebble is a Sorcery in Elden Ring. Glintstone Pebble spell is cast to produce offensive magic projectiles that attacks enemies from range. Updated to Patch 1.07.

The most basic glintstone sorcery of the Academy of Raya Lucaria.

The glintstone serves as a conduit, launching magical projectiles at foes.
This sorcery can be cast repeatedly and while in motion.

This is a universal first step on the journey to true knowledge of sorcery.

Elden Ring Glintstone Pebble Guide

  • Glintstone Sorcery
  • Stamina Cost: 20
  • Inflicts (Sorcery Scaling x 1.52) magic damage before resistances.
  • This is the basic go-to sorcery for any player starting out on their journey to become a sorcery caster. It has a low Intelligence requirement (10 INT), a low casting cost (7 FP), tracks its target slightly, and has a comfortable range. All these traits make it a fine starting sorcery to obtain until stronger options can be acquired later on.
  • Since Patch 1.06, the range of Glintstone Pebble has been increased, but the damage and stager power have been decreased.
  • NOTE: This Glintstone Sorcery was changed with Patch 1.07 as follows: The Attack Power was increased.

PVP Tips and How to Dodge Glintstone Pebble

  • Can be dodged on its own by moving directly perpendicular to the attacker. Sprinting is not necessary.

Every moronic INT build just spams this now in arena. Why the **** does this knock me out of some incantations and animations? Gtfo

      • Anonymous

I remember trying to beat enemies to death with my staff to save fp. The damage was around 12 if I was lucky.

        • Anonymous

Very annoying and unfair in PvP if the user has max casting speed. Even if I roll through the first shot I will still get hit by the next one while finishing the roll animation. If I run to the side I can still get hit and parrying is not an option because of the fire rate. Definitely needs a nerf.

So... Why is it called Glinstone "Pebble"? Why not something else, like Glintstone Bolt, or Missile, or Arrow? It's such a specific choice that I have to wonder what the thought process was. Is it named after the gemstone, or "pebble" in the staff? Could it be a reference to other magic stones, like the philosophers stone? Vaati explain!

I’m doing a very Arcane focused character with the Bloody Helice as my primary (one of very few arcane scaling somber weapons that actually has Arcane as its primary damage stat) and the Dragon Communion seal for using some low faith incants, and I only just realized I should totally also be carrying the Albinauric Staff with glintstone pebble. It’s quite a jumble of arcane-scaling options.

for pvp, at 80 int you can do like 400 damage a hit with this, thats utterly insane for such a cheap spell

                • Anonymous

Funny that this is still probably my overall most used spell in dealing with basic enemies for the entire game, well of course along with Arc for crowds, and both came with my starting class. After making the very common, for mages, early dash for the meteorite staff and rock sling, which can be obtained within the first hour of gameplay pretty safely, you now have the 3 spells you will be using all the way to end game in PvE. Of course magic glintblade is a must for bosses and NPC invades that dodge every time a spell is cast, and this comes with the prisoner, or can also be bought within the first hour of gameplay, those 4 spells will probably account for 85% of your total casting in PvE. I guess I could make arguments of why that's both good and bad, but it's definitely a fact. At least if your aim is to get the most damage per FP cost possible. It's definitely something.

I think it would have been more interesting for sorceries to have a bit of a logarithmic progress in damage scaling, just so that Pebble is still as strong for low-INT characters, but is more clearly outclassed by the stronger versions (Shard, etc.) for high-INT characters. At least from a PvE perspective, it would be cool if the basic ***** spell didn't offer the best damage:FP ratio for the entire game, and it would still have its use cases of picking off weak enemies that die from one hit of it regardless. Obviously the bigger spells can offer better DPS, piercing, etc., but FP usage is a constant factor that means you're liable to be tossing pebbles to deal with half the enemies from start to finish for sorcerer runs, which is lamer than it needs to be imo lol

„Since Patch 1.06, the range of Glintstone Pebble has been increased, but the damage and stager power have been decreased.“

So its not just the AoW but the Spell too? Can someone confirm that?

                      • Anonymous

I kinda despise the fact that this staggers more than arrows and has practically the same rate of fire as the light bows.

                        • Anonymous

This isn't a pebble so much as a damn machine gun. I'm honestly shocked that the literal starting spell is so much better than many if not most of the spells in the whole game.

Why is my glintstone pebble cast going right through my enemies and seemingly dealing no damage? I started with the astrologer build, and I see the animation and everything, it's just doing nothing to my enemies. I've looked this up online and have found nothing so far, so any help is appreciated!

i feel like this is easily one of the best sorceries for the fact that it is cheap, swift, and efficient...

as for PvP, stop whining and simply LoS, roll, spell parry, block (theres more than a couple 100% mag block shields) and theres the fact to do the kind of damage people seem to complain about the casters WILL fail the vigor check, as it takes 70+ INT and one of the penultimate staves in game to make this the 'powerhouse' people seem to think it is at base...

Unpopular opinion: Ashes of War should have come with int/fth/dex/str requirements respectively.

This could’ve been a really cool idea but why does the initial cast do so much damage? It’s a pebble not a boulder.

youre right george and miyazaki, a glintstone pebble SHOULD be a 2-hit true combo that does over 1000 damage. the **** were they smoking?

                                  • Anonymous

I get that people saying this is the most FP efficient spell of all. But when you are at mid-late game, after boss fight you still have 4-5 blue flasks left, would you really wanna slowly grind boss to death instead of using other more potent spell and finish the fight faster?

Stars of ruins provided impeccable tracking. Almost (yes almost) unbeatable in pvp, also great against fast jumping pve bosses. Adula moonblade has high damage, staggers enemy easily, provides frost damage. Night comet plus staff of loss is unbeatable against npc invaders and any humanoid enemies who would crazy dodge pebble.

So yeah, have a taste of other spells. The game might surprise you how many good spells there are.

Apparently there are a lot of underwhelming sorceries later on, but as someone who started as The Prisoner I found this spell largely useless, since Magic Glintblade is better 90% of the time. I picked up Swift Glintstone Shard around the same time as this one and I have been using it instead of this for quick-to-kill enemies, with Glintstone Arc being my third always-prepared spell (and Rock Sling as my fourth for long-range kills). It really doesn't seem worth using this once you have Swift Shard and Glintblade.

                                      • I find it sad how this sorcery is better than most of the glintstone ones. This one should be for the early game, with stuff like glintstone cometshard and great glintstone cometshard being much stronger but costing more fp. But in reality the two mentioned just aren't worth using in terms of damage per fp compared to pebble.

After finished this game with magic build, I have to say in 90% of the situations Pebble is your best friend, tracking + decent dmg + low fp + reasonable range really makes it a default spell for any mages and for any dungeon.

In those 90% of the cases, one really interest case is the large angle fight, as long as you can target lock the enemy, the small projectile of the Pebble + shooting at a place higher than your head + ok tracking can surprisingly damage the enemy, even though the angle is like 85 degree with a ladder.

And the followings are the most of 10% may have better alternative situations:

1: for any open area field bosses, you cannot cheese (shoot + run to deaggro + repeat) them with this spell efficiently because the range is still limited, you still need Loretta's Greatbow to do the job.

2: Casting this spell on a horse is less natural: 1: positing yourself for a good shooting angle is much harder to do on a horse than no horse 2: you have to stand/not moving on a horse and 3: sometime will hit the ground if no target lock, even though the enemy is clearly at your face. Although I cheese most of the Erdtree Avatar by riding horse + Pebble but after I tried other alternatives like swift pebble or night shard which can cast while riding horse, I found the battle much more manageable.

3: It can be dodged quite easily by a NPC invader or agile boss like Godskin Apostle, in that case a faster-casting spell like night shards / swift pebble may just break the dodging threshold.

4: if an imp/dog/rat is close to you, try the close-range option like Carian Slash, the slow casting Pebble sometimes still cannot make it through.

5: there is only 1 case that I found Arc is better than Pebble, which is like 10+ clay-man on a roof in Haligtree, otherwise Pebble will be fine.

6: it cannot stun enemy, in late game boss fight you will find rock sling is a better option because it can actually stun the boss can spam even more.

7: you may prefer not having this spell if you wish to summon a Mimic Tear, other options like moon spell or rock sling works much better. For late game boss you really don't want to see Mimic Tear spam this efficient but not high damage spells.

However, for the rest of the cases, Pebble is a such a solid and generic choice and that's how good this spell is.

Not sure why so much hate on the spells you can learn later in the game.

I'm wrapping up Liurnia of the lakes and these are the spells that I'm using right now:

Comet (can spam it like pebble for high burst and it has almost 1.5x the range of pebble)
Carian slicer (This is actually the most damage to fp efficient spell in the game, its also the most stam efficient sword swing and you can use it with sprint and crouch to cast faster)
Adula's Moonblade (for close range aoe high dmg)
Cannon of Hainna (for medium range aoe dmg)
Loretta's Greatbow (crazy far range-like almost where you can auto target stuff from-good for sniping at long range and does more damage when fully charged than comet for less FP)
Ambush Shard (Nearly all mobs & bosses don't dodge it-great for shield users too)
Beastial vitality (regens 5 hp / sec for 2 min - good for topping up without using hp pot)
Sword of Night & flame (medium range high damage sword art beam and AOE fire)

Elden Ring: pebble + rock sling.

For PvE, this is extremely mana efficient and effective for most enemies, though don't test your luck too much with bosses, stick to Rock Sling for that. If someone tries to spam this at me one more time in PvP I might just have an aneurysm, you wont hit the invader just because you're spamming it a bunch, especially if they're also a wizard. Stick to other spells for PvP

Magic in DS3 is so much better. There was a straight progression in spells and staffs. While here the further you go the shittier items you get with absolutely worthless spells.

                                                        • Anonymous

Top tier spell, Astrology basically peaks at character creation for spell variety. Pebble and Arc are all you will be using for most of the game

This thing is literally THE BEST spell you can get your hands on in terms of consistent dps. Why would you use Loretta's Greatbow (or any "big damage" spell really) when you can cast this 4-5 times in quick succession and do the same damage. It's only flaw is that it cannot properly track fast moving enemies.

At least make it upgrade over time with Intelligence to keep me it interesting. Shoot nore Pebbles, longer range etc ...

Damage wise, the pebble seems to deal the same damage as the tri shot but for less mana. Far more damage than the barrage/extended for significantly less mana. Is it the case where were just going to use one primary sorcery for the whole game and never switch?
