Godskin Noble is a Great Enemy Boss in Elden Ring. These humanoid enemies dress in an armor made from voluminous flaps of skin, wielding rapiers and black flame magic. They are optional bosses as they don't need to be defeated to advance in Elden Ring.

Godskin Noble also appears in the Godskin Duo fight and as a spirit summon in a Spirit-Caller Snail fight.

Nobles are the most ancient apostles who are said to have assimilated inhuman physiology. Not unlike the crucible, the Erdtree in its primordial form.

Negations (or Absorptions)

The negation numbers are the % of your damage that gets blocked. For example, if a negation is 60, 40% of that damage by that type will go through and 60% will be negated. Bigger number = less damage. A negation of 100 means no damage goes through, and a negation of -100 mean the enemy takes 2x damage from that source. 0 means damage goes pretty much as is.

Godskin Noble Fight Strategy

The Best Tips for Godskin Noble:

  • Use sleep pots to put the boss to sleep. Usually one is enough and will allow you to get multiple hits in before it wakes up. Repeat as needed.
  • Alternatively, sleep arrows are very easy to craft at the point of game when players meet Noble for first time.

Melee Users

The Godskin Noble is fast and can deal damage or break poise rapidly through the Stab and Overhead Strike, and Stab and Backhand attacks. Generally melee users should circle around the Noble to deal damage while avoiding combo attacks, and quickly back away when the Black Flame Barrier spell is telegraphed. Parrying is difficult and not necessarily critical given the Noble does not have significant resistances to physical attack. Simply dodge rolling and avoiding physical attacks while striking occasionally is generally enough to outlast the Noble.

Bleed, poison and rot may be applied to the Noble without significant difficulty but take care when doing so with short or midrange melee weapons as the Noble does use its shove, barrier, stomp and belly roll moves to distance the player character if too much damage is done at once. The belly roll may be stopped by striking the Noble during the roll which will interrupt the attack and provide an opening for followup attacks.

Magic and Ranged Users

Strategy Writeup for Magic Users

Bridge to Divine Tower of Liurnia: Once reaching his threshold that causes his attack pattern to change, the Godskin Noble will roll at the player. When he begins rolling, you can catch him in one of the ports on the side of the bridge so he gets stuck. If you're able to make it back to the entrance, you can go to one side and when he attempts to roll up the stairs he will angle over the guard rail and fall to his death.

For Incantation users, best is to inflict one of Status Effects at the start and then attack Noble with either Lightning Spear or Swarm of Flies.

Godskin Noble Attacks & Counters

Attack Description Counter
Black Flame The Noble raises his left hand behind him and conjures a ball of Black Flame which he then tosses at his target.  tosses towards his target. The projectile has a rather fast travel speed and deals damage over time for a couple of seconds after a direct hit. Watch the telegraph and dodge sideways or through the projectile as soon as he tosses it. The Noble's Black Flame has a slower cast compared to the Apostle.
Black Flame Ritual The Noble holds his left hand low and to the side and then conjures pillars of black flame all around him. The flames persist for a while after, preventing melee attacks until they dissipate. Dodge away as he lowers his hand and maintain your distance.
Double Stomp The Noble fiercely stomps with his right leg twice in front of him. Deals damage in a small radius around the point of impact. Maintain distance, dodge backwards if caught in melee range, or parry.
Belly Shove The Noble shoves his target with his large belly. Does not deal damage, but can stagger targets. Dodge backwards.
Stab & Overhead Strike The Noble performs a quick jab with his rapier and then follows up with a slow overhead slash. Dodge both attacks sideways. It may be easier to just block the stab and then dodge the overhead slash.
Stab & Backhand The Noble stabs with his rapier and then performs a backhanded slap with his left hand. Dodge the stab by rolling to his right and the backhand should not hit you.
Below 60% Threshold When the Noble is brought down to 60% HP, he will cross his arms and float upwards and then slam down, releasing a shockwave in a small radius around him. This signifies the start of Phase 2 where he "unseats" the skin on his abdomen, allowing him to significantly bloat his belly, giving him a much larger hitbox for certain attacks. He also gains new attacks.
Godskin Wheel The Noble bloats up his belly and leaps up, landing on his side and then rolls around like a wheel, trampling anything in his path. Sprint to the side as soon as you see his belly increase in size. Hide behind pillars until he's done rolling.
Godskin Crusher The Noble bloats his body and floats upwards, before slamming down. Dodge in once you see him begin to descend. If you get knocked down by the initial blast, you can dodge in safely as soon as you get up.
Repeating Thrust Holds its rapier upright before unleashing a fast combo of thrusts. Dodge to his side and punish.
Noble Presence The Noble quickly thrusts his belly forward, dealing moderate damage and stunning targets in front of it. This attack is extremely fast, coming out in only 13 frames, but does not deal too much damage. There is a faint audio cue that’s similar to the casting sound of Black Flame and Black Flame Ritual but dampened. Dodge to his side.

Godskin Noble Lore, Notes & Other Trivia

  • Along with their Apostle comrades, they served the Gloam-Eyed Queen and wielded Black Flame to slay gods and carve their skin to wear for themselves. Theories suggest that the Gloam-Eyed Queen is Melina
  • One met at Divine Tower of Liurnia can be baited to roll himself of the bridge and die.

Elden Ring Notes & Trivia

  • A choir can be heard singing in the background during the Boss theme. This was first thought to be Latin singing, but was later discovered to be a non-existent language, intentionally designed to sound like Latin words. This is the case with most tracks in the game.
  • Bug: Noble can stop Godskin Wheel, perform other attack, and then immediately return to rolling
  • Bug: In the end, Godskin Wheel attack always goes for host, even if host was not the first target of this attack

I found the 'You can just run past most things in this game' tactic worked wonders against the one in Liurnia. 5k runes for putting up with that roll horseshit, thanks but no thanks!

      • Anonymous

the one in liurnia's divine tower is susceptible to the poison mist cheese, just zip past him up to the tower and up the elevator so he loses aggro, and he'll just stand like a dumb mofo and let you poison him halfway across the bridge

        • Anonymous

5k runes for a boss only accessible deep into Ranni's questline, while his Volcano Manor counterpart drops 50k? Yeah

          • Anonymous

I avoid the roll, get him stuck in a circle for like five seconds, he immediately is suddenly upright and doing hilt smashes, then snaps back into the roll.

If we Americans had a tenth of the commitment that this guy has towards rolling, we would have colonized Mars years ago.

            • Anonymous

Rolly Polly Olly azz.. it's crazy how sleep pots are the key to this guy. How is anyone supposed to know that though? Is it explained somewhere? (Besides fextra)

              • Anonymous

Whyyyy Noble Presence and infinite roly-poly? It's an otherwise phenomenal boss, why ruin it with that shite?

                • Anonymous

Is it correct that the one in volcano manor just has 10% more HP than the one in the divine tower of liurnia; yet drops literally more than 1000% of the amount the liurnia godskin drops??!
wtf From; thats some of the most ridiculous balancing i've ever seen in any game

just beat the enemy one and feel really stupid about it

                  • Anonymous

When the roll attack isn’t total BS these guys are so much fun to fight imo, parrying them is just so satisfying once you get the hang of it.

                    • Anonymous

As an enemy I find him annoying but the one in volcano manor makes me laugh every time with how edgy he tries to look when you first enter the area and he starts slow walking towards.

                      • Anonymous

when he's stuck rolling into a pillar, you can throw kukris into him. in fact, most of his attacks have a kukri opening. you can stack so much bleed on this SOB

                        • Anonymous

Sleep pots completely trivialize all the Godskin fights. Sleep, buffs, charged r2, charged r2, stagger, reposte, charged r2 charged r2, stagger them out of phase 2, reposte, clean up, enjoy the runes.

                          • Anonymous

Absolutely ZERO downtime between some moves, like I dodge into his tail swipe and get smacked by noble presence. Another BS boss

                            • Anonymous

I had so much trouble with the one outside the divine tower. Ended up cheesing him by going out of his aggro range and having him teleport back to his spawn location without the aggro, then getting a few hits and repeating. Was fortunately leveled up enough when I fought any of the boss variants.

                              • Childish enemy.
He can somehow keep his roll attack for 20 seconds if he feels like he won't hit you with it. I was fighting him with a host and he missed me, got stuck in collision, kept going, unstuck and combos the host becuase he refuses to stop the attack until he does damage I guess.

when he rolls go to the side stairs and hack at him - when I beat him, he tried doing the rolling thing and fell off the cliff

                                  • Anonymous

i feel like being able hide behind a pillar or wall 3 out of the 4 times ive actually discovered this dude somewhere is just intentional design, unfortunately there arent any in the cave fight but its still way too common to feel like just a coincidence, but then if you can just hide behind a pillar or something why even have him use the rolling move if you can render it null most of the time? But hey who am i to question Miyazaki's wisdom in elden ring boss design.

Trick to dodging the roll is to run in the direction his head is facing while he's rolling. With some practice you can make this guy trace perfect circles while you stand in the direct center.

                                      • Anonymous

                                        "funny" little glitch
If you stagger him while he's rolling via spells, he'll play his stagger animation, but if you don't riposte him in time, he automatically resumes rolling. Like he doesn't even do the pre animation or anything it just continues where it left off. Was really funny because it killed me during the Duo fight right as I was gonna win. Hilarious even

Raptors of the Mist us a great counter to his roll attack and also the Vow of Indomitable but I recommend using the second one since it gives you a bit more room than the mist since you're vulnerable when you are in the jump animation

                                          • Anonymous

Yall, theres is 2 pillar with slightly less gap between them at the front right of the church, if the idiot goes into the rolling attack, you can bait him by letting him roll to you while you go in between the 2 pillars. the gap is too small for the fat-fker but enough for you to go through.

                                            • Anonymous

worst boss in elden ring. His roll is constant, if you get hit by it sometimes it will go on until you die, you riposte him and he gets right back up in the middle of another move. Just shitty boss design and what sucks is later its a duo fight.

                                              • Anonymous

I’ve had moments where he switches immediately from the rolling animation into the black flame attack without any in-between, then immediately switching back to rolling afterwards, it’s the most jarring thing I’ve seen in the game

                                                • Anonymous

This arena is dogshit, The chairs and candlestands add nothing to the fight except making you waste time when dodging. At least you can break the chairs, but theres still the pillars. I understand why the pillars have to be there, but a wider arena wouldnt hurt at all.

                                                  • Anonymous

The only issue i have with this boss is the instant belly thrust attacks he does, and the rolling attack just looks stupid and doesn't make sense. There is magic in this game, but that still has rules it follows, the mach 5 rolling doesn't.

                                                    • Anonymous

I just wanted to know if it’s possible to parry his backhand. Been trying for about 30 minutes now and haven’t gotten it, but can parry most of his attacks fine

Honestly worse than Malenia, after a while you can deal with waterfowl and with knowledge of her stance break immunity you can play accordingly, she's a pace killer but can be dealt with.

This guy? He can spam noble presence back to back with no warning after a single melee attack, why was this added? Do they actually want me to fight him? It's nigh unreactable.

Not to mention his roll lasts way too long, it just looks stupid staring at him for 15 seconds while you can do nothing. And sometimes he just glitches out and goes into his rapid thrust attack and back to rolling when he hits a solid object or something.

                                                        Garbage boss.

Tip for when he rolls: He always rolls soon after phase 2 starts, so make sure to keep notice of that. When he starts to, roll to his right, or when he's rolling his bottom. From there make sure to keep a medium distance and circle at the same speed as him, so hes just rolling around you.

                                                          • Anonymous

Rather easy when throwing sleep pots at him. Throw one sleep pot, he goes to sleep, go behind him and damage him with a weapon. Repeat.

When I stance broke him while he was rolling, I went over to riposte him, but he JUST STARTED ROLLING AGAIN, NO WARNING, JUST INSTANTLY STARTED ROLLING AGAIN?!?!

                                                                • Anonymous

Worst boss in the game. Camera glitches out constantly and he can stab you through the pillars. Did they even play test this boss?

                                                                  • Anonymous

This boss is terrible, most of the time he rolls the camera glitches out and I can’t see my character. Also his sword goes the pillars. Literally the worst boss in this game.

                                                                    • Anonymous

This boss is just annoying to fight so if you really don’t want to deal with him just stock up on a bunch of sleep pots/arrows and when he sleeps bring out your highest damaging attacks. Alternatively be crazy like me and try to do the godskin noble skip for 2 hours since the second half of it is ridiculously hard.

                                                                      • Anonymous

-15 seconds until the ai is literally sure it can't hit you and that it's a waste of time.

                                                                        • Mage: Physick w/hidden tear+magic shrouding tear, maximized int/magic w gear and talismans, Sleeping pot x2 (to be sure..), Cast Terra Magica then Comet Azur until no more boss. Feels like cheese but then again I am a mage!

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                              • Anonymous

When he rolls at you, roll THROUGH him. As long as you aren't fat-rolling, you should clear his hitbox (also works on Mohgwyn Albinaurics). After that, he tries to turn around to find you - easily avoided by staying in the middle of his circle.

                                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                                  • Anonymous

When the Godskin Noble begins his wheel roll at you, roll in a direction going away from his head; the roll will go in a motion such that you are the origin of the circle he traces, if that makes sense. You can maneuver around this so that he'll just continue to roll around you and wear himself out, giving you time to heal / refill mana, select throwables etc.

                                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                                      • Anonymous

So when he starts the rolling attack he has a weird bug in his code where if you arent the host he will glitch in and out of the animation until he locks onto the host and then does his roll again and this sh*t is soooo glitchy. Lol wtf

                                                                                        • Anonymous

Ride your horse fast past him all the way to the other side of the bridge and he'll de-aggro and turn away from you to watch in the direction of the site of grace. Carefully approach him from behind and you can get close enough to cast poison mist without aggro. Back off + wait, approach + poison. Repeat as necessary

                                                                                          • Anonymous

If you have issues with him, try focusing on rolling away from his attacks and into him back in melee range instead of to the sides. He has really good tracking to roll catch you mid roll, but he also has surprisingly mediocre direct range. The only problem is the multi-stab, but you can also roll into it and evade it that way, he will whiff the rest of his stabs. Though the roly poly and 0 frame belly thrust just suck, sorry.

                                                                                            • Anonymous

There is no reliable way to not get hit again and again when te fat f**ker starts rolling around. But he will only go so far towards the west end of the bridge near the study hall use bleed arrows and dodge the fire ball and you'll be golden.
