Summons spirit of Blackflame Monk Amon

Blackflame Monk Amon Ashes is a Spirit and Summon in Elden Ring. Blackflame Monk Amon Ashes are used to summon the spirit of Amon, the Blackflame Monk.

Blackflame Monks can also be found as Enemies in Elden Ring. For more information, see Blackflame Monk.

Ashen remains in which spirits yet dwell.
Use to summon the spirit of Amon, the Blackflame Monk.

Amon swore fealty to the god-slaying black flame, and so became the first fire monk to turn traitor.
Or perhaps it is better said that he fled from the Giants' Flame—out of cowardice.

Elden Ring Blackflame Monk Amon Ashes Guide

  • Essentially a direct upgrade of the Fire Monk Ashes. Though remember that 19 Mind is needed to use this Spirit, without FP increasing talismans.
  • Amon frequently casts Godslayer Incantations, which deal fire damage and inflicts the same percentage based damge-over-time one would expect from that type of incantation. While his poise is somewhat low, all his blackflame moves have ridiculous hyperarmor and are rarely interrupted.
  • As such, he scales rather well into late game bosses even at lower upgrade levels, as percentage based damage doesn't scale with upgrade level and is powerful by default.
  • It is encouraged to upgrade Amon, of course, as he is not on the tanky side for a Spirit Ash, nor is he all that mobile, so he will need all the HP he can get.
  • Works best in tandem with a build that also employs Black Flame in some form, from incantations or Ashes of War, as this will ensure near constant uptime of the DOT. Frost builds will benefit from his assistance too, since he can easily clear frost to reproc again and again.

It's hilarious that in lore, this dude is a huge pussy, but in gameplay he absolutely dominates. A straight upgrade to Fire Monk in every conceivable way.

This is not just an upgraded Fire Monk Ash. His attacks use blackflame, which does a percentage of the targets HP over a brief time on top of the fire damage. He gets better the more HP the boss has. Excellent against bosses with overlong HP bars (Maliketh) or bosses that are immune to status effects (Sewer Mohg).

Expensive but worth it. He's tanky enough at +9 and puts out great damage. Got me through the gargoyle duo when I was low level.

Sounds like an amazing support to my frostbite build - proc frostbite and his godslayer incants reset the proc for more procs, which sounds like lots of % health damage going on

He did a job on the Putrid Avatar in Consecrated Snowfields for me (+9), whereas Dung Man (+10) was not very useful in this fight.

His black flame spells leave a damage over time effect that is based on the enemy HP similar to the usual black flame incantations. Pretty strong in the offensive department as he seems to cast them frequently.

I let my +10 mimic fight this guy 1v1.. easy mode lol - how do people compare the difficulty in this game to anything else FS has made SMH.

                  • I tested Dung, Omenkiller, Amon, Tiche and Oleg at the Gatefront grace (where there is that large group of lower-level knights). At least for group fights like this, the ranking is:

Dung > Omenkiller > Oleg > Tiche and Amon

Omenkiller and Oleg had really similar performance but Amon was definitely the worst, once getting down to 20% health. Dung was the best. Against large groups of humanoid enemies, his rolling gave him more survivability. Tiche of course has the coolest move set but I found that he performance is the most variable. Sometimes she performs similar to Omenkiller and Oleg but once she almost died (~5% health left).

On top of that - I witnessed Dung pull off a critical hit. I've never seen any other summon do that. Perhaps Tiche does it too but I haven't seen it happen. So I wonder if it is something specific to puppets.

In terms of sheer survivability though, I think that Omenkiller and Oleg are the most "consistent".

Overall though, I would consider Dung, Omenkiller and Oleg to be S+ Tier (as well as Mimic if you have a good build). You really can't go wrong with any of these. Aside from Mimic, Dung is probably the best if you have a bleed build.

You will find most Spirit Ashes usually have relatively low damage compared to their in-game counterparts we face. But due to the way that Blackflame works being percentage based, this dude will do good damage with his Blackflame spells against bosses as low as at just +1 upgrade. Even enemies who resist fire attacks will still take the Blackflame DoT, and the more max HP they have, the more effective he will be. Man-Serpents are completely immune to fire, but they'll still lose HP after a being hit by Blameflame spells.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned the musician Amon Tobin. Fromsoft has named characters after musicians before (Leo Ornstein) and it just so happens Amon Tobin has a pretty good musical project called Two Fingers. Something to consider.

dont listen to some of these comments. he has one of the highest dmg output of any spirit in the game. not the best tank but nobad either

So we got Gary Buster Holmes' weapon AND someone named Amon? Never thought Fromsoftware could possibly be referencing Yakuza.

Although mimic years is the only ash you need, the other ashes offer some really good lore. So Amon is the first person and founder of the Godskin group huh
