If you go to the tree by the cliffside, right to the edge and crouch, then jump before going around the tree to get behind him, jumping up and down aggros a Golem Archer below, and it will hit him and break his stance. Going for the riposte will propel him off the cliff.

I recommend you Unga Bunga his ass to defeat the Dragonbarrow BBH. Unga Bunga works well sicne 2 charged heavies, sometimes even 1 will be enough to stagger him.

        • Buff up damage negation and parry him. The more you stand at a medium distance the more he spams his Darth Vader floating sword ****. If you get in his face he tends to do a lot more regular attacks

          • Anonymous

I recommend watching Ongbal defeat him on YT. Parry is the way to do it. He doesn't delay his swings so is quite simple to parry. After five very unsuccessful attempts with my usual play style i tried with the buckler and succeeded first time.

            • Anonymous

It took me 15+ tries but after many, I was able to defeat him on level 43.

strategy was using katar +7 for the thrust damage and also doing heavy jump attacks after dodging his attacks.

4 heavy jump attacks were enough to stance-break him. softswap to misericorde and big critical damage. repeat.

claw talisman, the successive attacks one and radagons soreseal.

HEY! I also bought the Briar set from Enia and was doing damage to him this way. a taste of his own medicine.

it's glorious to beat a boss all this effort

Beat him on my red lighting build with bolt of gransax from
A distance and when he got close i poise broke him with Cragblade dragon mist form

I just backed up and used the jar cannon over and over until he died. There's a limit to how far these bosses will chase you. Eventually they will just walk back n forth so you can poke away. Would grab bone bolts and its the crafting recipe if you're trying this

                  • Anonymous

Here is a strategy I used, for everybody who doesn't want to cheese him. Grab a sword, die a bunch of times learning his move set, eventually you will git gud enough to beat him. This is not easy as he can be very unpredictable but it is doable and the sense of accomplishment and the skills and patience learned to defeat him will make you a better player and you will enjoy more melee encounters. DONT panic, DONT panic roll, stay cool, time your rolls perfectly and don't get greedy trying to deal damage. I was able to do it with a mage and a keen uchi buffed with scholars armament. I tried two katanas but the double swing takes too long sometimes. Good luck.

                    • I'm glad I won't need to kill him till I use my Strength/Int gravity build. 'Cause I don't know how well other builds would do against that guy, he's brutal when you're properly leveled in every case.

easiest method: use torrent to get on shack, equip some int and strength gear, spam radahn greatsword skill on lowest part of the roof. 4 mana flask should be enough

                        • Anonymous

Easy strategy for the bell bearing hunter in Dragonbarrow :
                          1. Equip Rock sling and meteorite staff
                          2. Allocate more flasks to FP
                          3. Put on gear to increase INT
                          4. Approcah hunter's spawning location on steed and after he shows up, turn around and jump on to the roof of the smaller shack (double jump from the raised platform)
                          5. Lock on to him and spam Rock sling,
                          6. Rinse and repeat

He often goes under the shack and becomes un-hittable - just wait for him to deaggro and he will start moving back towards his spawn location. Jump on to the higher roof and start spamming rock sling again once he is visible.

                          Hope this helps.

Super easy fight if you use the buckler to parry his physical attacks. Stand almost right up against him to trigger his non-magical attacks, parry, and take him down. It took me about 6 parries to kill him.

                            • The one in Caelid is literally the stupidiest mini boss in the entire game.
Fast and unpredictable moveset, tones of hp, and infinite poise, literally nothing can stop this ****er.

If you plan to cheese him on the roof with a bow and get him poisoned, make sure you don't have the hunter ring active... because he'll have all his HP again when you come back to your world... please, don't be me!

Light build. Quick shooting spell (gallstone pebble/comet, lightning bolt, etc). Dodge x 3 and hit him 2-3 times with spell. Rinse and repeat. Try not to get stuck or wonder towards the t Rex dogs.

I only just tried the variation of the bell bearing hunter that spawns in the war-master's shack in stormhill a couple of days ago. I'm not in any way under levelled or green, I have some decent armour sets and talismans, I'm able to craft all status effect arrows, and most of the cracked and ritual pots. I have lordsworn's greatsword and great stars upgraded to +19 and +16 respectively as my weapons of choice, and I can cast some high end incantations. Even taking all that into account, I was surprised how hard he hits and how quickly and easily he was able to kill me, I think he killed me five or six times fair and square, and once when he 'cheesed' me after I got stuck in a corner of the shack and couldn't move. He's a very punishing and powerful boss considering that one is likely to be most players first encounter with him. All the bloodstains around the war-master's shack tells you everything you need to know. I want to be able to buy the gravity chunk and fan from the twin maidens, but I can't see myself beating the variation at dragonbarrow fair and square. I think I'm going to be up on the roof for that one.

                                    • If you haven't used Parry until now, now's the time to learn.
This guy, along with other tanky melee NPCs, is quickly dispatched using Parry/Golden Parry and similar abilities.
If you get a partial parry, sneak in a hit; get ready to parry again, and parry for a full critical opportunity.

                                      Rinse and repeat.

                                      • Anonymous

wait for him to spawn, run out of his range till he de-aggroes, sneak all the way around him when he stops moving and use poison incantation

                                        • # Use the Night Maidens Mist spell and charge it maxed out when he spawns, hop on torrent and ride in a circle around him while continuing to use the mist ensuring he stays in it for as long as possible and it'll hit over 1500 damage while he basically spins in a circle. #

                                          • Not worth tbh but his attacks are very easy to remember if you just stay on top of him and don't panic roll his attacks are pretty slow and you can only get about 1 hit in before he attacks again so its decently easy just will take long if you don't deal good damage.

                                            • Anonymous

If you are a magic user, I would recommend using the Night Comet spell, stay far away and just charge up the spell while moving and just continue doing so. he only comes close when you either use the flask, or he uses a shield charge. his attack can easily be dodged by just rolling backwards, but 1 hit can be the end of you. I recommend using the flask near the end of his 2nd cycle of attacking with the sword.

                                              • Anonymous

The Caelid one is just bullshit beyond belief. 2 of hits attacks are complete horse ****, the first one LITERALLY GOES BEHIND YOU and hits for tick damage, the other is the one that EVEN IF YOU HAVE BARRICADE it does at LEAST 1/4 of your hp. (45 vigor with Eldtree tali l1, Radagon's Soulseal (the +5 stat variant, so theres no way i was 'low hp')

Best way to fight it? bleed status rapier/poking spear with a greatshield + Barricade, guard and poke until he's dead. Dodge when he goes for the grab attack.

I don't consider using this technique as 'cheesing' since if you try and fight this guy normally, he will do AT MINIMUM 1/3 to 1/2 of your hp per swing LMFAO
