Malefactor's Evergaol Walkthrough
Unlike most evergaols, this one does not require a Stonesword Key to unlock. The transporter mechanism is active as soon as you reach the area. Enter the portal to challenge the boss imprisoned within: Adan, Thief of Fire.
Adan is a very straightforward fight. Despite his stout stature, he is quite agile and capable of quick dodge rolls. His main form of attack is his Flame of the Fell God spell, where he summons a large orb of fire that explodes after a short delay, dealing damage in a large radius and setting the area ablaze. This attack is easy enough to avoid due to the clear telegraph and slow animation. He will also use a combo of multiple swings with his flail, ending in a spinning attack. This move has a long animation and can easily be exploited by ranged players.
Adan drops the Flame of the Fell God incantation upon defeat, allowing you to summon the same orb of fire that he does.

Piercing Fang took him out in only 3 uses. Far weaker than I expected to get a legendary spell…

Moonveil+9 took him out in 2 Transient Moonlights. Didn't expect weak foe...

So instead of wasting time like the guide here implies, you can just travel straight to the Liurmia Lake Shore grace and then head north along the cliff face. You'll eventually reach a spiritspring that will allow you to jump right up to the plateau, a short ways away from the evergaol.
For those locked out- have you met with Box and Sorcerer Thops? A reddit thread suggested it was trigged by those or possibly a site of Grace nearby.

There is also a spirit spring in the marsh basically directly north of the evergaol. Take it and you land pretty much on it.

Can be staggered reliably with great/ultra class weapons with a charged attack. Then back off as this boss will possibly punish you after.
Alternate cheese strategy. Inflict rot. Run, and then run some more, and then run a bit more after that. Success skeleton.

This evergaol is not active for me. There is no imp key, and I've checked several times.
Is this somehow locked out for my current playthrough?
Has anybody else experienced this?

Man's entire strategy :
cast fire ball, run towards u
use wild strike weapon art to bait u into a R2
But now we have it. So are we the thief now?
