Mommy's Moon significantly deals more damage and magic-damage negation.
Ranni's Moon procs frost and inflicts magic-damage negation.
Can't go wrong with either of them.

I still believe moon sorceries should grant you iframes when you’re inside the moon to make it more versatile in dangerous situations, at least in pve

From Dark Souls 1 [and 3] with Gwyndolin with his Moonlight Sorceries, to Bloodborne with it's Moon Presence, to this game with it's full-on approach to it's Moon being an entity of it's own [along with aliens from space]
... I think it's suppose to say, while we may not notice it, the moons and the beings on these things represent a higher [yet subtle] authority figure, hidden behind the veil and pulling the strings.
Wonder if it explains the H.P. Lovecraftian monsters in this game, and more commonly in Bloodborne?
Also feels like the barren ashen wasteland of Dark Souls 3's final boss arena seems moon-like... Dead worlds are becoming moons, and the abyss between the worlds is spawning those monsters i mentioned. Maybe they aren't evil per se, but this odd presence can appear in any world, choosing to take hosts to do it's bidding, and in rare cases [like these sorceries, or dark souls world's moonlight sorcery catalysts] grant it's unusual powers to certain wielders.
Might be why Gwyn feared the dark.
Yeah, i know, probably not a canon thing, but i just wanted to post a screwball theory of my own, after years of lore videos.

FROMSOFT really need to increase theses two AOE, it’s not fair incantation are nuclear bombs in terms of AOE, plus they’re difficult to dodge

From really needs to consolidate sorcery and incantation groups.
Why only 2 Moon Spells... ;(
Also as a Frost Witch Hat and Carian Regal Scepter wielder, I'm really bummed Adula MOONBlade isn't considered a MOON spell as well as Frost for both Buffs...
