Work of a wandering artist.
Reminiscence of a painting titled "Redmane."

This painter is said to have captured the landscapes seen during the last moments of those welcomed into death's embrace.

The soul of the painter, and vestiges of the dead's last moments can be discovered by visiting the location depicted even now.

Where to find Redmane Painting in Elden Ring

  • Caelid, Sellia, Town of Sorcery: Partially concealed by some rubble at the southern center of town. Walk up the stairs from the Sellia Unders-Stair and take a right, it'll be on your left. [Map Link]

Elden Ring Redmane Painting Tutorial Guide

  • Leads to Ash of War: Rain of Arrows
  • Caelid: Appears at edge of a cliff after you've looted the Redmane Painting in Sellia, Town of Sorcery. You'll find it down the cliff on a plateau south east of the Minor Erdtree in Dragonbarrow. Once you've made your way down, walk to the edge and you'll briefly see the spirit of a painter. Walk up to the painter, and he will disappear before granting you the the Ash of War . [Map Link]

redmane cliff pathfix

  • First drop is probably the trickiest. Roll forward into the cliff face (don't jump) from position shown on screenshot above. Drop height is just below lethal, so you'll lose some health.  Use the Longtail Cat Talisman to mitigate fall damage.  Performing a plunging attack as you fall should also help you land onto the branch safely.
  • Follow this branch down to the end and walk off at the corner between the rock wall and where the branch protrudes out of the cliff face to drop down to a lower branch.
  • While on this branch, walk towards the rock face. Facing the cliff face, walk off into the corner to the left between the rock wall and where the branch connects with the cliff. to the top of column.
  • Walk along the branch until you are close to its tip. Turn 90 degrees to your left, then roll onto the broken column top
  • From here there is a much greater hop down to another branch.  Do this while mounted on Torrent. Make sure you are not holding any weapon that rests on your shoulder as that seems to cause double-jumps to fail.  Move fairly close to the lip of the broken masonary and jump diagonally into the rock wall, double-jumping part of way down onto the branch below.
  • While still Torrent, carefully and slowly follow the branch down, followed by a short jump down to a nearby pile of fallen rocks. The golem nearby would not react to you.

  • On approach the painter vanishes and leaves behind the Ash of War: Rain of Arrows.
  • Note: it is also possible to reach the painter using the spirit spring close to Fort Faroth. See the Ash of War: Rain of Arrows page for details.

Elden Ring Redmane Painting Notes & Tips

  • You can hold up to 1 Redmane Painting.
  • You cannot store the Redmane Painting.
  • It cannot be sold.
  •  The golem near the Rain of Arrows Ash of War, like all golem which use the halberd as a weapon, has a chance to  drop the Golem's Halberd.

Easiest way for me to get down there was using Torrent to start to first platform, then again to branch, dismount and then jumped to second platform, back to Torrent to last branch (double jump), dismount rest of way down.

For Golem came back at end with Envoy Long Horn and bubbled him quite easily like all large enemies.

The spring seems to have been patched... there's an invisible wall when you spirit jump. That said, platforming was easier than spirit jump in the end.

I legitimately don't understand how people have such trouble with the platforming in this game. I did this first try just like I did most of the other platforming areas. Its really easy, and I'm pretty bad at games. Do you people not have thumbs or something.

That Golem took me a lot of attempts to get it perfect. Not to mention all the times I died trying to get down there, damn getting Torrent to go straight on narrow uneven surfaces. Finally did it, all on Torrent cause it gives you the advantage of getting far away behind the pillar once those 3 orbs start glowing. But always go to the pillars furthest from the Golem cause after the orbs cease their stream of magic hurt then Mr. Golem can cut you down with no space to back away from or you're going off the edge.

I ended up using Torrent throughout and when it was safe ride under and through trying to get 2/3 hits in and then sprint to safety. You can preempt it to swing the Halberd then time your run, get the 2/3 hits in then sprint away. Also, used "Stone of Gurranq" to get some free shots in without getting too close. But once, you hear those orbs drop hightail it out of there and get behind a pillar.

What did I get? About 5k in runes and nothing else. Don't care cause I was delighted to bring that Golem down.

If you have trouble doing the platformer, you have an easy way : jumping from the spiritspring jump and double jumping just before you hit the ground, I excuse myself in advance if you have trouble with my orthograph ( I am French)

It's a little funny, but the task of getting to the spot where you find the painter and this golem showcases most of the flaws this great game has all at once

                • Anonymous

I have to admit, everyone here getting upset at how hard it is I, did this my first try. Platforming in FromSoft games is fudgin easy, just take your time.

                  • Anonymous

For the first drop, I found the easiest way instead of rolling is to jump with Torrent into the drop and use the double jump to jump back to the branch. Never failed that drop this way. The other drops are trickier in comparison, but rather straightforward. Still, not as bad as the Frenzied Flame Proscription, **** that place.

                    • Golem is easier than the platforming imo. Just two-hand a great hammer of your choice, maybe throw on Cragblade for good measure, and knock it down in three heavy attacks to the ankles for a crit. It takes a lot of damage from crits.

                      • Anonymous

nearly impossible to get, requires insane precision in jumping/dropping, maneged on dumb luck using the spirit jump trick and the golem is absolutely OP, nearly one shot kill at level 171

                        • Anonymous

how do I lock on this golem's torso? I want to stance break him with rock sling, free camera spell tracking keeps going for his legs, 95% of my lock on attempts end up on his legs? so what's up with this rarted mong game design, hello?

                          • Anonymous

Another way to get down, which in my case seemed a little easier is to sprint jump towards the cliff from the jump pad behind the Minor Erdtree using torrent, and double jump just before you touch the ground, you'll land on the lower platform without taking damage. Well at least I didn't anyway, I even touched the walls of the cliff a little bit and it didn't break my fall.

                            • Anonymous

You can completely skip the jumping puzzle by using the nearby springstep ot will take a few tries just remember torrent has a double jump

WILD that they botched the obvious thing to do here and give the player the special magic halberd with the laser balls as a weapon art.

Fall from 150 meters: fine, albeit a little bit of damage
Fall from 153 meters: instant death.
                                  Gotta love fromsoft's logic

Just ignore this section of the game. They failed. From, you are not f***ing Mario, give it a rest. Stay in your lane. Your ego needs to be reigned-in, stop it. This isn’t what you should be doing and we are sick of it, either improve at platforming or stop trying…pick ONE.

                                    • Anonymous

There’s no real reason to have an artist down there, other than to troll the players and use up a few rune arcs / sacrificial twigs.

                                      • Anonymous

The optional magic golem does not drop many runes (unless it got glowing eyes. ~29K!), nor any useful item drop. If you want to beat it yourself, I recommend the following steps for max damage: knock it down, hit its forearms (weak spot) 2-3 times, riposte, then nick some extra damage in by hitting its forearms again while it is still getting up (some hits wont register on start-up of animation, keep swinging), repeat. Happy magic golem slaying.

Just found the painter. Did NOT need to kill the golem. It's a pain to get down there, yeah, but you need to find the painting and then get down there. Don't need to deal with the golem.

                                          • Anonymous

Plataformed with torrent, got killed for touching a wall in the first jump, but the jump itself wouldt'n kill me, this **** is glitched af. Ended up killing the golem with arrows from the pillar, mf didnt droped nothing, it's really not worth it

                                            • Anonymous

From my experience the first jump is much easier to nail consistently, when you jump on horseback. Stand to the right of the small tree and then turn so that you face the first quarter mark between East and North (ENE would be its name). Then Rush your Horse forward and jump.

                                              • Anonymous

The approach to getting down to the rain of arrows ash of war shown here is like pulling teeth with no anaesthesia, using the spirit-spring to get down safely is massively easier than trying to platform your way down the roots and pillars or whatever, if anyone has any doubts just have a quick look for it on youtube, its much better than pulling your hair out trying to platform your way down and dying over and over again.

                                                • Anonymous

                                                  FOR ANY MAGIC USERS:

Use Rock Sling and aim it to the golem's chest. After a few casts of the spell it'll stagger it and you can yo a punishing riposte.

As others have said, use the terrain for your benefit against the lasers

Thank god for my controllers ability to hold a button to lower the left sticks deadzone to only a walking pace. If it weren’t for that, I’d have ripped my hair out trying to jump down on a horse that loves to turn and move forward a few steps at the lightest touch.

                                                    • Anonymous

Using the spirit spring nearby is tricky or just look for the roots and use torrent to get down.
The golem is pretty straight forward to fight. Dodge and roll from his attacks. When he draws a circle on the ground, hide behind a pillar to focus the beams on the pillar. Then just dodge his attacks again.

                                                      • Anonymous

Golem, fight like any other. But when he drops his weapon to the ground and draw a circle. Hide behind a pillar and they will focus on that. Dodge his attacks and fight like normal. Drops 6k ruins and golem halberd

                                                              PLEASE GIVE THIS A SHOT

Can confirm. I used the Spiritspring jumping with torrent and made it all the way down there by taking no damage.
All you have to do is jump towards the ledge using Torrent and then use the 2nd jump to go down without hitting the ground( ground level with minor erdtree).
this only works because you take zero fall damage using Spiritspring. It's tricky but I did it and so can you.

                                                              • Anonymous

The best way to do the platforming is to aim for the part of the root that connects to the walls. You'll either lose less health and potentially not lose health if you land on the right segment (at least for 3 of the 4 roots). The golem itself is kinda tough but take it down by using your charged R2's or jumping attacks to cause it to crumble and get the riposte (which will be your primary damage source). Don't try and fight it normally because that will take significantly longer and the longer you're fighting this golem, the more likely you are to lose out to it.

Point of interest: is there anything else that uses the spell/ash of war that this golem uses? The golem has an infused weapon that has split damage (the damage went through my 100% phys block shield).

                                                                • I tried to kill the Golem, got summoned as a blue by a fcking but hole that was hiding inside Lenne's Rise afk farming when he was like 30~40% HP. Had to kill the invader cuz he was hostile af when all i wanted to do was warn him about the host and then suicide to give him some runes for the trouble.
Got back, Golem hits me and I had no more flasks (used everything before getting summoned). Yeeted blue cipher ring out of my finger to not happen again then ported away to Lenne's Rise and jumped all the way down to try one more time. RAWR XD Golem is tanky (fcked up wrists model), platform kinda small, didn't want to get Torrent involved. Golem killed me and I remembered, I just had killed Radahn, there was enough runes for another level or to be precise, about 198k (I was not precise, fck it). I could not lose that, platformed again, nice and clean. Runes are between Golem's rock hard legs, I jump between then, Golem wakes up.
My will to climb the slippery roots down again was nowhere to be found, my confidence was high and Torrent was ready, we smacked the Golem but he ended up killing us. Here I go again trying to platform that roots once more... but i was impatient, Torrent feet was weak, we slipped and I lost all my ~198k runes. People said the golem is not worth it.

Just grab your ash 'o war and fck off...

                                                                  • Anonymous

If you can time it right by jumping at the edge of the spiritspring, you can use Torrent's double jump to go down the gap in the ledge and skip the platforming entirely (you might slide off a couple of roots but you retain the fall damage immunity).

As for the golem I found charged heavies (using a Heavy-infused Greatsword) and Stone of Gurranq to the wrists (locked on to the stomach) to be a decent method to stagger it.
Absolutely ridiculous they'd put something with nearly 30k hp there but I guess it tracks with the demigod-tier runebear in the cave nearby.

                                                                    • Anonymous

Getting down is easy once you find the path:
                                                                      - Use Torrent to make the first jump to the root against the wall (using double-jump and the corner to block you, this is easy to get 100%).
                                                                      - Get on foot, make your way over, and drop down a root.
                                                                      - Walk toward the end of the root and jump straight forward off the top part to land on the lower part.
                                                                      - Walk forward until it's safe to drop onto the stone pillar.
                                                                      - You can use Torrent to single-jump across to the lower platform--you should be able to hit this dead center if you don't panic.
                                                                      - Note, from this pillar, both arrows and Rock Sling can reach the golem if you want to cheese him (though they'll take a while!).
                                                                      - From here I usually get off Torrent to line up the next jump, then get back on him to jump -- again aiming for the spot where the root hits the wall. A single jump will get enough distance, but you can double-jump against the wall if you need to adjust.

Hop down, spam ash of war three times and he'll stagger down, during that time drink a fp flask and crit him. Wait for him to start getting up and repeat, took around 4 crits for me. You can do this with most golems, they can't attack and you get a free kill if timed correctly. (simple platforming, use torrent to jump onto first large branch, dismount, drop off to second branch, walk down straight onto the pillar, look for the second pillar and run and jump, get back on torrent and jump onto another branch below, dismount and head down)

I used heavy shot on Pulley Bow +5 (with extra range and damage on bows talismans) and it took me about 200 arrows (regular and bonefletched), with each arrow hitting about 230-250 hp damage on a skill and it took me almost 9 flasks to get through. This thing has more HP than Radahn and the reward is measly 5300-something runes.

Jump down to the first root, then jump to the second root, land on the stonepillar, fall down to the lower part of it, mount horse and jump across, then jump down to the root below (doublejump at the end to make sure you land on it), then just jump down to the ground.

                                                                                                        • The first time I beat the golem down there after 10 tries and maybe twice as many tries just falling n dying from the garbage platforms, I got a Golem Halberd and a Smithing Stone [4]. Fine, ok, I'll take that. ****ed up a questline later down the line, the last save I backed up was one before I beat the golem, so I tried again, lower-leveled, got 1-shot a lot, finally beat it, and got... NOTHING!!?? NOTHING but a cheap ass amount of runes totally not worth the effort of parkouring n beating the shiny brand new unbroken golem itself? Reward ain't bugged/broken from me restoring old save because I see folks in here getting nothing too. So it's ****ing CHANCE? There's a ****ing CHANCE you'll get NOTHING for beating the most pristine golem in the game? WTF!?!?!?

You can complete the painting without the golem only aggro'ing, as he only does so if you go to pick up the rune arc, so not worth fighting imo unless you just want to.

Just use the tornado close by and jump towards the ledge with the tree root shooting out (the one with the pot) As you fall close you double jump and you will fall exactly on top of the pillar(and since tornado stops any fall damage you will be 100% okay). Just parkour down as normal after that.

You can die from walking off a spot but if you JUMP and land from the same spot... totally cool. At one point I LANDED on one of the piles of rocks against the cliff face (near the broken pot) JUST FINE, only to die from falling three feet when I tried to move off the rocks to the grass.

It works, and you SHOULD utilize it.

Look out for rounded edges that will cause you to slide in place for a second before landing, they will kill you. Golem at the bottom does not drop anything, not worth the time to kill.
