Apparently it doesn't detect Deathroot, just the boss that drops/guards it. So if you defeated the boss and forgot to loot the chest it's not going to show the message after you get back to the dungeon

If you do the Frenzied Flame ending while leaving Melina alive, her eye in the ending is basically the exact same shade as this.
Considering that Maliketh defeated the Gloam-Eyed Queen, maybe he took something else from her as a trophy?

Is this one of Godwyn' s eye' s from his face-corpse under Stormveil? That face has no eyes.

I just killed Gurrangq instead of his quest and he dropped this, not sure why since it doesnt say he drops it on his page nor this one

i think this may be marika's missing eye. maliketh may be the one who impaled her, possibly further implicating her as the dusk-eyed queen since we know he was the one to stop her

"Claw-marked" like the "mark of claw" on the closed eye of Melina ? If you put the beast eye on the closed eye of Melina the "mark" seems to be the same (but reversed)
"Violet Iris" like the **SPOILER** closed eye now open of Melina in the end with Frenzy flame ? **SPOILER END**
Maliketh gave you this item and he's the one who "stopped" all the black flame thing

Death Rite Bird west of the Snow Valley Ruins triggers a false-positive in the beast eye. Either that or my game glitched and all I got was this dumb spear

Talk to the gold armored knight in front of the summonerwater village outskirts after beating the boss. You have to have a deathroot in your inventory then he'll tell you the location of the beat faction where they give you that eye and a sacred seal
