Beast Claw is an Incantation in Elden Ring. Beast Claw spell conjures five offensive vertical waves that travel forward dealing damage. Updated to Patch 1.07.

Incantation taught by Gurranq, the Beast Clergyman.

Creates beast claws that rend the land with shockwaves.
Charging enhances potency.

This incantation represents the fury of Gurranq, his bestial nature returned, as much as it does his restless agitation.

Elden Ring Beast Claw Guide

  • Bestial Incantation
  • Stamina Cost: 27
  • Appears to deal slash damage
  • Deals 1.93x Incantation Scaling uncharged, 2.22x Incantation Scaling charged.
  • Medium casting speed, can be charged to deal increased damage.
  • Waves travel in a wide cone area while moving forward and have gaps between them.
  • This spell will only hit its target once, regardless of how many waves pass through that enemy's hitbox.
  • Works well in low-Faith, high-Strength builds in conjunction with the Clawmark Seal as an efficient ranged attack option.
  • Notes: As of Patch 1.07 the range of the shockwave was increased.

my go-to spell for countering mages alongside honed bolt. it has just enough speed, range, and coverage to stagger them out of pretty much any cast.

The Claw’s damage type is slash, NOT standard. It follows the same absorption's as R1 on Grave Scythe.
        Wondering Nobles (Limgrave):
        Claw - 602
        Standard - 196 (-20%)
        Strike - 422 (-10%)
        Pierce - 750 (0%)
        Slash - 625 (0%)

        Claymen (Siofra River):
        Claw - 350 (40%)
        Standard - 158 (-35-30%)
        Strikes- 377 (-20%)
        Pierce - 438 (-40%)
        Slash - 364 (-40%)

        Giant Miranda Sprout (Waypoint Ruins):
        Claw - 766 (+25%)
        Standard - 178 (-30%)
        Strike - 249 (-45%)
        Pierce - 681 (-10%)
        Slash - 795 (+25%)

Great for godskin duo because the claws can easily hit both of them, even if they strafe (they'll just dodge into one of the other claw projectiles). It nets you good damage for low fp cost. I suggest charging it cuz its range will increase and it's safer. just watch out for fireballs

One of its biggest problems right now is you can just jump over this right on the casters head. It’s cool if you want to lose in style tho

Something I don't think the patch notes mentioned is that they also buffed the incantation's recovery time by a **** ton. Hardly any delay between casts now, be it another claw attack or a lightning spear.

i'll never forgive them for nerfing this so hard. i rushed this on my first playthrough because i loved the prophet so much in the CNT only to find out that it's dogshit now. i don't understand why it had to be changed, there're way stronger spells than what this was.

Maybe it's so weak because it does slash damage? Just spit balling here but it seems like a lot of things are resistant to slash.

The slight damage buff would be nice, but for some reason people forget that this incantation costs 10 fp... You get chargeable (Godfrey icon) physical-poise damage ground base mid range wide cone aoe with same fp cost as catch flame, if this thing dealt half as much damage as some hardest hitting incantations this thing would be absolutely busted, honestly if they make it multi hit it would be already scary...

I have this spell for my cavewoman invasion build. It comes out slow and spreads wide. Good for getting a reaction out of the other player. Use it to set up traps and catch rolls.

It appears that an enemy can only be hit by one claw (doesn't get better vs. big stuff). I could be wrong though. It deals 400-500 damage to the sewer omen witn 250 incant scaling with the Gravel Stone Seal. Yeah, this thing reeks. Looks cool though.

The recovery in wich you can recast spells for this is really weird, it take 3-4s when recasting without moving but when blocking or starting walking after casting, it dosen't have the spell recast recovery.

This spell needs everything. More damage, more range, more speed. It's such a cool looking spell but that's all it has going for it, it's too easy to dodge.

Unfortunately, it got nerfed too hard and is inferior to casting 2-3 bestial slings that come out faster, can be used while moving and while jumping. From's lack of balance testing was too hard on faith and way too lenient towards sorcery. They must have a bias towards sorcery when making these games.

man why are beast spells all so weak. This is suppose to be the bread and butter but does ridiculous low damage. 1/3 of what other category can do

Can this really be chain-casted? I haven't been able to do it, if its not possible can we get that description removed?

                                    • Anonymous

As a dedicated beast build this is currently the worst incantation. Uncharged you can out damage it with sling while charged is easily avoided and out preformed by get this... TWO slings for a fraction of the charge up.
They really gutted my boi here after the network test but gave him pretty worthless all terrain. Take a lesson from it as it was once pretty strong when it was one of the few things available from the network test but compare it to what all is available now, looking pretty balanced now isn't it.

                                      • You know, you would think that the spells that you get for fighting 'those that live in death' would be more effective against them, and make it so they don't get back up, but doesn't look like that.

Everything enar thr beast sactum does bleed damage...why does this do magic damage? Thats not very beastly. Its says Shockwave, so its the force of motion ripping through the air. If not bleed damage atleast slash and peirce.

I see a lot of comments about it's strength being low, CHARGE the spell, I forgot about it being able to be charged and I took it off for a long while. I watch someone do like 800+ damage with it, he charged it and it didn't take much longer and damage went up exponentially.

My only problem with this is that it doesn’t follow the same rules for npcs using it. Travels up and through stairs when npcs use it, which is a little frustrating, otherwise it’s a great low cost incant

                                                • Anonymous

Beast Claw does NOT deal magic damage. It is not at all affected by any buff that enhances magic damage, including the crystal tear for the flask of wondrous physick. Beast claw is physical damage, probably slash damage.

                                                  • Anonymous

just don't use it on elites and bosses, it's good damage for its fp cost, i would typically use it if there are three or more enemies in front to soften them up enough for me to finish them off with a melee.

                                                    • Anonymous

Man, I’m pretty disappointed. Missed out on the test but saw footage of this spell and wanted it so much that I planned my play through for it. Now having just unlocked it, it’s just mediocre. WTF. Im bummed. It’s not terrible, but it’s not worth building around.

                                                      • Anonymous

Faith users love to complain. This incant is really strong for 10 fp. Its meant for quality builds, not pure casters.

                                                        • Anonymous

Why are (almost) all bestial incantation so useless? Apart from bestial vitality (which is a nice low cost heal between fights) I havent found any of them useful... even with high faith and the dedicated seal, damage and stun potential are very low (and casting time abysmal)

                                                          • Anonymous

No idea what the point of this spell is after the nerf. Takes forever to stagger anything and deals no damage. It's projectiles are very nice, and can definitely catch opponents in roll recovery but yea. As it stands right now they get hit by it and just laugh it off.

Played a match against a guy with the ram armor, guy literally stood still in a disrespect play getting hit by it 4 times. Dealt around 300 damage to him and no poise break. It was funny but also pathetic. It is such a good and fair PvP spell but they blasted it into oblivion win the nerfs.

I can say after a lot of playtime with it it's definitely not as strong as it was. But in pvp it's a good catch option when people roll away to heal or cast, this is coming for a sl160 (40str
                                                              + 50 faith) character invasions

so he went hostile on me after the 4th deathroot, but there was never an option to "beat him back to his senses". i slowly took down his health but he never stopped attacking. eventually he died. only thing that dropped was an ancient dragon smithing stone.

                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                  • Anonymous

I find Stone of Gurranq to be a better spell over all as it does the same job as the fireballs or lightning spears but hits harder than their standard or black forms, so it only really comes down to elemental rock paper scissors for superiority

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                          • Anonymous

This spell is so damn weak that you would be better off using a weapon art which costs 10fp and does 7 times the damage. Its so freaking weak. Even when charged. For me this is doing 160dmg on non-charge and 180 on charge. Maybe its the enemies I'm using it on but that makes no sense if so.

                                                                            • Anonymous

Some people are saying you have to give him 5 death roots, some are saying you just have to beat him back to his senses after he turns hostile and he gives it to you. He attacked me after giving him just 4. It's got to be one or the other right?

                                                                              • Anonymous

                                                                                • I managed to get this incantation in game and edited the page. You need to have given Gurranq 5 death root for him to give this to you. The spell now works in water and the fp cost was changed from 8 to 10 in final game from the closed network test. I hope this helps anyone who find this page.

                                                                                  • Anonymous

Be careful with using spirit summons though; one that I summoned was still trying to attack him after he yielded.

                                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                                      • Anonymous
