I had never heard of this incantation, or never noticed it when I saw video rankings and such. I found it randomly while wandering the ruins and hopped over to the windmill village to test it. I'm at 80 faith and have a +10 Erdtree seal so I figured from the description it would at least be a better Rejection spell.

It one-shotted everyone near me and launched the others off into the stratosphere. It was like watching Oppenheimer or something I was aghast and amazed. I tried it again with all the right talismans and got 4K damage on the cliffside albinaurics. It casts FAST too even without a Radagon icon.

Why is this not the most popular spell in the game?

I agree that this costs too much FP but people are forgetting that the cast time (uncharged) is stupid quick. I have literally 0 issues hitting people with this in PvP.

        • Anonymous

Yeah. Everyone is right. So much fp for this but ancient dragon lightning strike costs less while having the potential to be used in almost every combat situation. Less fp for this and more for the lightning win button

I was always miffed it didn’t win trades against great sword jump spam before 1.10… but now? Removed from my spell bar. It’s useless since everyone gets 60% dmg negation with hyper armor. I use rejection instead since it’s cheaper, faster and still one shots people on ledges. And soft combos into Erdtree heal >:)

I want to use this incantation but it's just way too fp intensive for my liking. I don't understand why they put a bunch of busted ashes of war both melee and ranged that do a million damage for a tiny fp cost but then you have wrath of gold costing 40 for a single use and in my experience the damage wasn't even all that good to justify it.

2 years since launch and ,due to an unsolved bug, WoG can’t still get any damage increase benefit from talismans or seals (PvP bug). Same thing for any other holy damage incantations: WoW.

                • Anonymous

Trash. Can no longer win trades against hyper armor aggression, which was the entire point. Meanwhile, shamshir will still out dps collosals on trades. Simple math…

After almost 2 years since launch, I agree: WoG need a buff. There are two many weapons and AoW that are faster, stronger than WoG, consuming less FP and stamina. I think it should require less fp and less stamina, and it should have a little larger hitbox. Why? Because this is a pvp spell, but right now almost no one use it, and we should ask why.

                    • Anonymous

one of my favorite combo spells. use darkness on a crowd of enemies for that ~7 second blind, then full charge Wrath of Gold in them. From Darkness, Comes Light.

                      • It has extremely consistent panic rollcatch if you cast after a long stagger like 1 handed claw running R2/one handed crouch poke zwei etc. Probably want short range long staggers like fist weapons though since radius can be small if too far.

Better off using catch flame for guaranteed hit but it's a good mixup since it does more damage even though it can miss.

                        • Anonymous

With hyper armor and the ability to chain another spell it would be perfect. Faith needs a consistent wizards hammer equivalent (Dragon's Claw is not, very slow)

                          • Costs too much stamina, too much fp, and fires off too slow at 40 Vdex, no hyperarmor, just OK damage when compared to just about anything else. The whole point of using something like this is made pointless when you can be so easily stunned out of it before the animation even gets half done. Placidusax ruins is literally a better version of this if you think about it. They make it so hard to not just run full dex and call it a day.

There is nothing more satisfying than wrath of gold into erdtree heal while the guy is on the ground. Try it out in duels, just have crucible scale and ritual shield talisman to turn there backstab into a live tap.

can this spell deflect the beast claw incantation? I used WoG in pvp and the beast claw just shot back at him when I accidently timed it

                                • Anonymous

I think it needs more damage. They have the timing/range down perfect so that it’s not spammable and can be easily punished. But flame strike does literally double the damage of WoG and WoG always loses the trade against melee builds. Basically it’s fun but fails it’s purpose of checking players who disrespect a clerics space while a pure strength build gets way better spells such as flame strike and beast roar.

This spell functions like a parry. Base dex and radagon icon: Use this when you’re opponent is about to input an attack. Most satisfying spell to land imo. I find the damage regrettable since it still loses the trade against jump attack spammers but that’s just because jump attacking is stupid broken and they should have instability damage like past games.

conflicting opinions about this incantation, I'm hoping to get a better idea using a frame of reference I have experience with. I was trying to get arrows sting from caelid early at a low level, but the soldiers guarding the chest were killing me almost as soon as I got off the ladder. two light soldiers shoot crossbows from each corner, one blocks any chance to run straight for the chest and two Radahn heavies, all four are instantly agro. I tried rejection to buy myself enough time and space to grab the talisman, but it was more or less useless. it did have some effect but it wasn't knocking them off their feet. the only way I was eventually able to get the talisman was by throwing a gravity stone fan, the shockwave from one knocked all four on their arses giving me time to loot the chest, they also do damage. so if anyone here has used all three, rejection, wrath of gold and the gravity stone fan, at some point in their playthrough, I'd be very interested to know how both rejection and wrath of gold compare to the gravity stone fan especially taking into account the low 13 FP cost of using a gravity fan consumable?

As a DS3 wrath of the gods enjoyer, this feels like an insane upgrade. Being able to fire it off at full damage so fast is incredible, and you can hold it to rollcatch. Only issue is it's Holy instead of physical, meaning crimsonwhorl negates it and it doesn't benefit from dancers charm.

                                        • Anonymous

No hyperarmor. Rejection is pretty much a better alternative since it does what's intended in PVP for clearing out ganks or host bridge knock off shenanigans. Not worth the 32 investment.
If FROM adds HA to it then it's a class S spell otherwise it's a C or B with rejection being an A

                                          • Anonymous

Pretty good for PvP but not so much in PvE, it's not a spammable nor can it act as burst damage so it's more like a situational AoE incantation.

Oddly enough, this incantation still cannot be used if you use items to artificially boost your intelligence past 32.

Incredible thing. Very useful in PvP. Can be rolled through though. So mix it up by charging or not charging, leaving your opponent to guess.

I used this spells jump attack to counter this guys jump attack. He poised through it and died! It was awesome!

My mimic tear used this to great effect against Malenia, I was smitten to see her knocked on her ass repeatedly

IMO this spell benefits decently from Radagon's Icon. Feels pretty close to DS1 Wrath of Gods. Only have 16 DEX so it might get appreciably faster with more.

Best nova-effect spell in the game by miles. Every nova effect spell should really be designed as some variant of this.

                                                          • I know you guys might not believe me, but this crazy thing happened. Some guy tried to attack me with a jump in pvp and I countered his jump. I don't think anyone has done that yet

                                                            • Anonymous

Great spell, you can stunlock many mid-sized enemies like cleanrot knights as long as you have Radagon's Icon or a fast enough cast speed. Helped me quite a bit vs Castle Sol boss.

Does the highest single target damage out of any spell I have so far. Used it to launch the crystal bosses on their backs.

                                                                • Anonymous

The damage output of this spell when stacking against time to cast is insane. With the Radagon Icon equipped the cast time is about a second and even without any buffs it does ~1200 uncharged and ~1700 charged at 60 faith and a +25 Godslayer Seal (it's an Erdtree worship incant so no other talisman has a passive boost for those as far as I know). Like almost all incantations in this game the hyper armor is just non-existent which is absolutely boggling considering their close quarter combat nature. Seek golden big bada boom for maximum sparkle death fun time.

                                                                  • Anonymous

does the erdtree seal provide a passive damage bonus to this?
