Rabbath's Cannon is a Ballista in Elden Ring. It was added with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The Rabbath's Cannon does not scale with any stats, and is a good Weapon for a ranged combat option. This weapon deals high damage and has homing projectiles, but users must be tactful with positioning due to its slow reload speed. All Ballistae require Great Bolts to fire.
A type of jar cannon used to fire greatbolts
A masterwork of Spellmachinist Rabbath.
The power of the glintstones that encircle the barrel imbues bolts with magic damage and guides shots toward their targets.
Where to Find Rabbath's Cannon in Elden Ring
The Rabbath's Cannon weapon can be found at the following location:
- Rabbath's Rise: After you free the Spiritspring, head outside and use it while mounted on Torrent to reach the higher part of the tower. Loot the chest at the top to obtain this weapon. [See Shadow of the Erdtree Map]
Elden Ring Rabbath's Cannon Notes & Tips
- Weapon Skill: Kick
- This weapon cannot be infused with Ashes of War
- Can't be buffed by Magic or Consumables
- Rabbath's Cannon can be upgraded by using Somber Smithing Stones.
- While the weapon doesn't have any scaling, the magic damage does benefit from Terra Magica.
- Ammunition: Any type of Greatbolt, such as Ballista Bolt, Bone Ballista Bolt, Explosive Greatbolt, Lightning Greatbolt, and Rabbath's Greatbolt.
- Rabbath's Greatbolts work to great effect, and the Spellmachinist's Bell Bearing will be needed to purchase them.
- Must be two-handed to fire. This also means you effectively only need 19 Strength and 16 Dexterity to use it.
- Rabbath's Cannon fired bolts have homing properties:
- This makes it extremely efficient when targeting dodging or fast-moving enemies.
- This is only applied when locked-on, meaning homing shots won't benefit from Sharpshot Talisman.
- NOTE: Patch 1.13 Increased attack power scaling when upgrading.
- Sell Value: 500

This + Rabbath’s Bolts + Terra Magica + magic scorpion + Arrows sting + Soaring sting + magic cracked tear = a literal god damn sniper rifle with an aim botted bullet capable of nuking that poor unexpecting ****stick sitting about one football field away. You’re welcome.
- Anonymous
Not better than the regular cannon but serves a different purpose, tracking shots at the cost of no long range sniping. If youre gonna try sniping stick with the lightning greatbolts on the jar cannon. The lightning shots on this one dont have the same range for sniping

My gripe about this weapon is that when using explosive, rabbath or lightning bolts you only need to hit in the general vicinity of your target to deal big damage. The other difference between this and the jar cannon is this one does split damage. Because of the reload time I don’t generally use cannons within lock on range to begin with. So while I appreciate the feature I think I’ll stick to the classics in this case.
Did they nerf the tracking? Doesn't seem to hit as much as it used to
- Anonymous
I don't get why it doesn't have an intelligence requirement, but I am not going to complain.

I am Verdigris guy. And this is my weapon. She weighs 15 in an unspecified measurement system and fires 800-Rune custom madd Spellmachinist greatbolts at 12 bolts per minute. It costs 1,920 Runes to fire this weapon for twelve seconds.
(All of these measurements and statistics are correct by the way… have a nice day.)

Ok so I upgraded this to +10 since I really like how it looks. Gotta say it's amazing. I use the rabbath greatbolts when locked on, and the tracking is insane. Invader tries pulling their greatbow with cheated arrows? Delete his healthbar in 2 hits while he's aiming. If u can't lock on, to snipe u can use lightning bolts, since they fly further. Overall balanced weapon and the reason I'll push my end to 50+ so I can keep it with my zwei all the time haha

compared to jar cannon it has
>more damage
>homing
>basically the same stats needed to use it
what were they thinking? it makes other ballistas literally useless

Nah man this thing looks epic and would go so well with my drip. Does it have the same range as jar cannon?

Was the buff reversed? Just upgraded it and still is at 330/330

This is going to get downvoted into oblivion and rightfully so but I wish this thing at least had an int requirement so that my muscle mage could feel good about something for once in its miserable life

Completely bullies NPC enemies like Gideon. If you stand far away enough they will dodge and still get hit afterwards.

Patch 1.13 the damage went from 330 phys/330 magic to 378 phys/378 magic at +10. That is a 14.5% increase on the base weapon.
Depending on the ammo used the new total damage post patch is around 11.5% more damage.
For context, this does 428 phys and 528 magic damage with rabbath bolts. This is equivalent to an R1 with a magic giant crusher at 40 strength and 50 int. Add on the fact that it has homing and can lock onto weak points/dragon heads for easy weak spot damage. Diabolical. Are ranged builds finally eating?
- Anonymous
The homing on this thing is INCREDIBLY generous. If you're within lock-on range, 95% of the time, this will hit, even on hard-to-hit weak points like dragon heads. Even flying around, this thing will still hit it. Incredibly fun weapon to use as a co-op summon. Solo, it's far too slow to be of any use during boss fights but could be a useful ranged weapon, although, the normal jar cannon will be better in that regard. Recommended for doing co-op, and not much else.
- Anonymous
The use case for this weapon is interesting. It's good for PvP in some situations where if you can lock on your target from above them then the homing almost guarantees a hit and most players are going to have lower magic resist than physical. In PvE it is useful against most enemies types except bosses which usually have 40 magic resit which means this cannon will deal considerably less damage than the other ballista weapons if you are shooting a boss with them.

I am heavy weapons Tarnished. And this... is my weapon. She weighs 150 rune stones and fires 300-rune custom-tooled greatbolts at 12 rounds per minute. It takes 600 runes to fire this weapon for 12 seconds.
Some invaders think they can outsmart me. Maybe... maybe. I've yet to meet one that can outsmart homing greatbolts.

Unfortunately this may have been nerfed. As of 1.12.3 the damage at +10 seems to be 330 Physical and 330 Magic rather than 472 / 472 in the table.
The homing is fun, but the reduction in damage means you're probably better off with the Jar Cannon if you're using any ranged talismans :(
- Anonymous
The actual damage is less than around 70% of what the Jar Cannon deals due to the split type, but the tracking is so powerful that enemies dodging will still be hit anyway.
This completely counteracts one of the biggest weaknesses of ranged weapons in PvE; garbage AI auto-dodging every attack.

Arrow's Sting+Arrow's Soaring Sting+Sharpshot Talisman+Ritual Sword
Stack TF out of Vigor and Endurance, wear the heaviest armor you can get away with Medium Load on.
Hilarity. Definitely not a serious build, but you'll definitely have fun being a walking Howitzer, at least in PvE.

This can hit malenia when shot from far enough, the homing is so good

This weapon presents a great PvE use case for Bone Ballista Bolts if you are using lock-on and not free-aiming. The Bone Ballista Bolts typically have really severe drop off but with this cannon they track perfectly to the target at any conceivable range provided you are still locked on. And since the tracking is the main feature of this cannon in general, you should always be locked on anyway (use the Jar Cannon for all your free-aiming needs).

For the invasions, the correct answer is to use both jar cannon and this thing. They fill different niches. Jar cannon is significantly better as a long range sniping tool. But Rabbath's homing should not be underestimated in the lock on distance, you can literally stand sideways and the bolt will curve to hit the target, which means you can deliver absolutely outrageous shots from otherwise unreachable positions.
It's kinda funny that all DLC crossbows are so good for invasions i wish you could equip more ammo types at once.
The AOE on this doesn't seem to be the same as on the regular canon. I was hitting right next to enemies and it didn't do any dmg

I still prefer the Jar Cannon, after trying this out. This thing shoots the bolts at a significantly slower velocity, making them much easier to react to and limiting the effective range. Desperately needs a good vantage point because the strength lies in the lock-on, and if you're close enough to lock on with a ballista you're close enough to face retaliation. As a harassment tool against preoccupied players at medium range it's superior, if you're taking advantage of the lock of and the damage of the magic greatbolts, but it's definitely far worse as a long range sniping tool or for ledge kill shenanigans. I keep both on me and usually default to the Jar Cannon, but when a situation seems to suit Rabbath's I'll use it.

This thing is hilarious in invasions. You can be looking away from the enemy while locked on, shoot, and the bolt turns around and can still hit them.
Also players jump too early or too late because they don't expect the bolt to track them so it still hits them.

I'm not seeing the case use for this. Even with split damage it's ar is lower than the other cannon (the stat spread here is whole ass wrong). So with lower ar and split damage it should be doing way less damage right? Am I missing something or is this just another throw away not actually meant to be used?
- Anonymous
So is this better than the Jar cannon for PVP invasions or not?

Equip this on your mimic tear summon and watch it go BALLISTIC!
The upgrade stats are all messed up.
At +10 this cannon has 330 physical and 330 magic damage, not the absurd 472/472.

Haima and Rabbath, the sorcerers that had their priorities straight.
Something no one’s mentioned yet:
The ultimate Teardrop Scarab sniping device. Their incredibly annoying tendency to run just out of range of every attack is completely nullified by this bad boy.

the free-aim range of missiles is waaaay shorter than the regular cannon. They drop off very quickly. So it's definitely not a straight-upgrade on the old cannon.

If you want to roleplay an anti-air missile defence system use this with explosive greatbolts, this thing launches sidewinders. Try scaring off birds on cliffs then let loose, you won't be dissapponted

It would be cool to meet Rabbath in an evergaol in the future and you expect him to be bringing a glinstone staff and the dude just pulls out a cannon out of nowhere and starts shooting explosive magical rounds.

Finally, now my hyperminmaxed invasion build can have its 1 STR point back, since it was the only reason to run 20 STR instead of 19. Thank you, B-team, for making this p2w DLC!

I just love it. Climb up Rabbath's rise expecting sorceries, find a cannon.
Are these damage values in the upgrade table wrong or am I missing something?
Have it at +9 and it’s nowhere near the damage listed here; have 311 Physical and 311 Magic as another commenter here also said.

Why does this have 28 STR requirement ??? there are heavier weapons in the game with less STR requirement

If Enchanted Shot was put on the Jar Cannon and didn't cost any FP to fire, you would have this.

Does this cannon actually aim right this time ? Or will it still shoot the edge of a cliff every time I use it.

So…. It’s Jar Cannon but upgraded to fire homing bolts that also have magic damage on top of the regular damage.
When you thought jar cannon was already a weapon to surpass metal gear they make this.
