FP or Focus Points is one of the Stats in Elden Ring. Stats refer to various properties that govern your character's strengths and weaknesses, as well as how they are affected by interactions in and out of combat. FP is an energy resource that fuels your Spells and Skills. It is one of the Base Stats which are directly affected by a player's Main Attribute distribution. Stats such as FP are an important aspect of character progression in Elden Ring.
Elden Ring FP Stat General Information
- FP or Focus Points is a Base Stat that serves as an energy resource consumed when casting Spells or using Skills. It works identically to MP or Mana in other titles.
- In order to use Spells or Skills, you need to have as much or more FP as a spell or skill requires to use.
- FP is one of the most prevalent stats and is constantly displayed on the HUD, represented by a blue bar in the top left corner.
- Resting at a Site of Grace fully replenishes your HP and FP. However, this also causes most enemies to respawn.
How to Increase Character FP in Elden Ring
- A player's Maximum FP can be increased intrinsically by adding points to Mind when leveling up.
- Mind is one of the 8 Main Attributes that players can spend Runes on to level up.
- The ability to level up is unlocked shortly after meeting Melina for the first time near the beginning of the game.
- Leveling up can be done at any Sites of Grace once unlocked.
- The amount of Runes required to raise an Attribute increases with each character Level.
- Runes are obtained primarily by defeating Enemies and Bosses. Certain consumables such as the Fringefolk's Rune can also be used to gain a fixed number of runes.
- Certain Weapons, Armor or Talismans may also affect your maximum FP.

Elden Ring FP Notes & Tips
- FP Increase by Mind Level
- The soft caps are 15, 35, and 60
- A fully upgraded Flask of Cerulean Tears restores 220 FP and at Level 38, the player has 221 FP
- The formulas for calculating FP are as follows:
- Level 1 - 15 --> 50 + 45*((Lvl - 1) / 14)
- Level 16 - 35 --> 95 + 105*((Lvl - 15) / 20)
- Level 36 - 60 --> 200 + 150*(1 - (1 - ((Lvl - 35) / 25))^1.2))
- Level 61 - 99 --> 350 + 100*((Lvl - 60) / 39)
- The resulting number is always rounded down

scaling is really good even at high level. they really wanted use to use mind for everything

FP costs need a serious revising. A single starlight shard can give you like 30 carian slicers

Limited spell uses > FP
We all know who you are if you disagree

Mind should get downscaled for overleveled summons imo, since catalyst boost doesn't get properly downscaled.

Maximum possible FP is 574. That's with 99 mind, equipping the cerulean amber medallion, and activating Radahn's great rune. Do you need 574 FP? No. Should a wiki provide that information as trivia? Probably.

I think a compromise for pure casters would be to make melee-ranged spells have significantly cheaper FP costs than ranged ones. Frenzied burst and Loretta's mastery can stay expensive, but as an example dragonclaw and gavel of Haima shouldn't cost so much. The devs have already decreased fp cost for melee incants before, it's proof that they recognize people want to use these incants more. Casting still costs stamina, and melee spells do comparable damage to similarly sized weapon attacks while often being slower than them, so it's a shame that they cost a lot of FP on top of that.

the fp economy is seriously messed up in this game, endless spam in every single invasion.

FP causes brainrot. I legit had a guy just give up on me because he couldn't use transient moonlight anymore, not even an attempt to attack back, just stood still and accepted defeat.

fp is a joke. carian slicer, 700 damage for 4 fp. reduvia, 200 bleed buildup for 6 fp

I miss Simple infusions, man.
In DS3, it was like a weaker version of the Magic Infusion that more preferred Physical Damage over Magic Damage and gave the weapon an incredibly small FP regeneration effect. I'm talking 1 FP every 5 seconds, or 0.2 FP per second. This improved with upgrade level, so at maximum you'd have 0.35 FP per second, or 0.7 FP if you had 2 Simple weapons.
By comparison, Starlight Shards give 2 FP per second, which is extremely powerful, and is a finite resource. I wish there was a non-finite alternative, I don't care even if it was weaker, I was happy with Simple Infusions, but there's no alternative or true replacement in Elden Ring and that makes me sad. Give me a specific unique weapon that has a FP Regen effect of 0.35 a second in the DLC, give me a Talisman that regens 0.2 FP a second, give me something, anything, please.

According to the formula, a level 713 character with the right scaling should have 2024 FPs.
Patch 1.06 fixed a bug which caused the FP consumption description of certain weapon skills to be different from its actual FP cost.
my fp regens but people are complaining it's finite? it's infinite right?
- Anonymous
FP shouldn't be finite ever. You will often have to run through dungeons instead of fighting.

So I think my game is bugged, whenever I hover over an armor piece my fp shows shows an “increase” from 100 to 121...same work stamina but 100 to 105...and then when I equip said armor it goes back to 100 for both...but here is the thing the item I am equipping doesn’t raise my mind...and my mind is at 20 which according to the chart should be at 121...does anyone know how to fix this ?

Hi there,
I dont understand the clip behind FP Costs (appears on some wappons or ashes of war)
what does that mean exactly or how put it togehter??
For example: 16 ( - -) or 2 (10 13)
Thanks for help :)

I think you should recalculate your 'FP increase' on the table. Unless somehow for example going from 338 to 342 is +7 ?

I unequipped all of my items and went to Rennala to respec. My character is a Vagabond, so the chart starts from 10 Mind. I manually calculated the "increase from previous level", so apologies if there are mistakes:

FP gain from Mind got buffed from the 1.04 patch, and (as of now) only matches the table once you reach 59 Mind. Here is a quick ballpark of FP values and the associated Mind level
Mind 15 - 95 FP
Mind 20 - 121 FP
Mind 25 - 147 FP
Mind 30 - 173 FP
Mind 35 - 200 FP
Mind 40 - 235 FP
Mind 45 - 268 FP
Mind 50 - 300 FP
Mind 55 - 328 FP
Mind 60 - 350 FP
- Anonymous
50 Mind gives 300 FP in version 1.04, 51 mind gives 305. Seems they shifted the FP from those levels downward

I see in the corpse piler page:
FP: 17 (-9)
What does the (-9) mean? is it explained somewhere?

Just bring back the old Demons Souls FP regeneration items. It was good enough, but not OP. And this is an open world game not having such an item although i should be able to play for longer without sitting down to replenish my pots.
Demons Souls didnt even have a connected open world like Dark Souls and sill it had FP regeneration.
- Anonymous
I don't mind not having fp regen, but I do wish more magic weapons would have the fp gain on kill effect
- Anonymous
Highest Possible FP ist 574.
450 from 99 Mind + 15% from Radahn Rune + 11% from Cerulean Amber Medallion
- Anonymous
“Ugh no magic regen” yeah. None. Because in every entry you’re meant to have limited resources. But fp is the most powerful resource you have access to. Its group healing, ranged damage, group buffs, weapon buffs, enemy debuffs. Its everything you can do with consumables or weapons but better because you can just carry it with you and hit the enemy with a tactical nuke from miles away.

Ugh, I'll trade all the Moonveils, Rivers o Blood and all the cheese for an Ash of War that restores FP.
Make the user assume a stance which they will not be able to perform any action until they exit stance. Restores 10 FP initially but if held for longer, restores 3 FP/SEC.

With 40 FP and a maxed out FP Flask, you will perfectly fill an empty bar. May want to go for a bit more depending on how much your spells cost because sometimes you will drink flasks with some FP remaining.
- Anonymous
I have 100 FP but cant summon Oleg. FP cost in stats is whited out. any ideas?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
And still we don't have regenerative FP... Melee bois have it easier
I have a question, there is an incantation that consumes 40 FP, but I only have 68 FP and I can use the incantation 2x is it normal?
- Anonymous
Alright, I found the item for FP regen. You gotta fight the Regal Ancestor Spirit that's around the second Hollowhorn Grounds site. It's not the first Ancestor Spirit that you fight that's towards the Siofra River Bank but the second site that's north-east of the Ancestral Woods site of grace. Using his remembrance can give you the Ancestral Spirit's Horn talisman which restores FP upon defeating enemies.
- Anonymous
Is there an attribute u can put points into to decrease the amount of fp used on spells an incantations?
- Anonymous
Assassin's Cerulean Dagger, a talisman that restores FP on Critical Hit. Drops from a boss in the Black Knife Catacombs. The boss is behind an illusionary wall. No, I'm not kidding. An actual illusionary wall, after which you have to fight it.
The Sacrificial Axe restores FP with each enemy death. It dropped from one of the death crow bosses, although I do not remember exactly where.
Good luck!

FP has no love at all. The Developers are forcing everyone to melee combat. thats why the spells are so weak lol
Ready your Pebbles

I noticed you can still use weapons skills without fp but they’re weaker - how do we find out how much power fp adds? Eg charge forth staggers and knocks down with fp, but without it doesnt
- Anonymous
i believe that saying HP is increased by adding points in mind is an error
- Anonymous
Biggest hope for a future patch is to tweak all the fp costs to make mind more important
