Sword of Milos is a Greatsword in Elden Ring. The Sword of Milos scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity and is a good Weapon for casters because of its ability to restore FP.
Sinister greatsword fashioned from a giant's backbone.
Metes out wounds like a lopsided saw-blade, and restores some FP upon defeating an enemy.
Milos was undersized for a giant, and was viewed as sullied and terribly grotesque.
Where to Find Sword of Milos in Elden Ring
The Sword of Milos weapon can be found at the following location:
- Dropped by killing Dung Eater in the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds if you choose to kill him here.
- Dropped by Dung Eater (NPC Invader) in the Capital Outskirts moat. He can be found in this location after releasing his corporeal body from his cell in the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds and then reading his message at the Roundtable Hold. [Map Link]
- If the sword is dropped and lost (i.e. if the Tarnished is killed by the giant death crab before picking it up) it can still be acquired by killing Dung Eater's corporeal body in the Sewer Gaol (where he will now be tied to a chair), he will not drop the sword if you complete his questline.

definitely better for PvE than PvP, unless you're doing a really high level quality build

The Ash of War on this seems bugged possibly? Physical damage gets boosted when attacking an affected enemy but elemental damage actually seems to decrease? Tested multiple times and my fire incantations did less damage with the Shriek applied than without. Seems almost like it's giving the enemy elemental resistance rather than lowering it.

This is def a solid weapon. Does decent damage when properly leveled up and the drip feed of FP can make things like legacy dungeons, catacombs, caves or just exploration a lot easier to trudge through for magic users. If you manage to hit a target with the debuff, that plus your damage buff makes this thing hit kinda hard, and the charged R2 will stack a bleed and chew through poise on larger targets. Can def break stance with two consecutive buffed R2s. Very solid general weapon choice.

"Good weapon for casters" ... why ? .... it can't be infused nor buffed with spells.. In what universe is this desirable for a caster build?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
At high enough attributes this eventually becomes the highest pure physical AR greatsword. R2s seem to do drastically reduced poise damage; two consecutive full charge R2s will poise break a Leyndell Gladiator with a knights greatsword, banished knight greatsword, or lordsworn's, but not Milos. R1s and jump attacks seem consistent with other greatswords in this regard however.

Why do the two weapons that restore fp on kill look atrocious and not magical in the slightest.

poor dung eater got deathblighted by a huge crab, rip to a real one

this belonged to a Lord of Dance Demigod who once spit on the Great Rune of Meme.

as a sawfish liker who likes sawfish and wants to support their conservation for the betterment of our marine ecosystems, this is the perfect weapon

kinda wish this had the int/fth scaling that the omen bairn had for full dungeater cosplay

The FP restoration seems to stack with the ancestral spirit horn. Nice alternative to the cerulean dagger.

Running a mage build with a two-handed Moonveil and this on my left hand, plus a Carian Filigreed Crest, and it's just bonkers how fast this regenerates FP. I can spam the light attack Transient Moonlight on trash mobs and never even need to use flasks
- Anonymous
If only the R2 was just a tad faster could it be effective in PvP. I've used this for a while now, and it just doesn't come out fast enough to compensate how short ranged the attack is. That being said, every R2 for greatswords is very low-tier (besides claymore).

Does anyone know if the debuff on the ash of war on this will stack with the black blade incantation?

Too bad there is no Ricardo Rapier to pair with this sword.

This is amazing for PVE on pure caster builds, you can just wear it on your back, two-hand your staff/catalyst, and get the FP per kill effect. You don't need to meet stat requirements and it stacks with Ancestral Spirit Horn.

Tested against giant sewer flowers, buffed and unbuffed needed 12 hits to bleed.

Trying to figure out what weapons to go with for my NG+ build - was considering this and Blasphemous Blade power-stance. Does anyone know if the passive HP/FP regens from each weapon work no matter which of the weapons gets the final blow? Is the regen ability like the damage boosts on staves where as long as its actively equipped you will get the benefit?

It’s more likely that dung eater is milos. Like how Radagon has giants blood and is part giant/ a small giant, though handsome. ( according to giants Red brain whip, “Every giant is red of hair, and Radagon was said to have despised his own red locks. Perhaps that was a curse of their kind.” Milos was undersized and ugly… resembles dungeater… then the skill, shriek of milos, which is the shout of dung eater. Also people have removed dung eaters helmet and it reveals an ugly face with red hair…

Pretty effed up description. Milos was another stigmatized victim of society for being smaller and weaker but somehow was brutally killed and had his spine used to decorate a once fancy sword. Suits the Dung Eater to sadistically wield it, it's glamorous to defeat giants but he likely picked the weakest one and butchered his body to use as a prized weapon.

I died from the death crab right after I killed his invasion at the lake and thought I was locked out of the sword unless I was willing to forgo completing his quest. When I gave him his last seedbed curse and reloaded for the rune and armor, I got the sword at the same time. A recent change?

rocking this in offhand and poker in main, have to say I love the weapon art on poker a LOT and it builds frost so this in offhand is another status plus it restores fp

Does the shriek of milos count as a roar/breath attack? It behaves exactly like one just with an added enemy debuff so it would make sense right?

Amazing off-hand weapon for just about any build. The hidden FP restore on kill goes a long way. Int spell casters, AoW spammers, you name it, can benefit from just having this on their back. But it really shines when paired with another greatsword for powerstancing jump L1ing. Keep in mind the weapon art on this debuffs enemies drastically, increase your damage and status infliction against said enemies. Great on Flamberge occ bleed builds, or Blasphemous Blade builds. 5/10 on its own. 10/10 as a utility secondary.

Dang, Milos was so ugly that elemental boons won't go anywhere near his spine. It says a lot if even the grease is grossed out.

Taker's cameo, ancestral spirit horn, and this power stanced with the blasphemous blade = the ultimate sustain build, perfect for summons. Save the flasks for invaders.

Great weapon on its own, but I love using this weapon in the left hand slot whilst two-handing another, for the fp gain. Looks cool on your back too!

If I give Dung Eater the potion, can I still get the sword of milos?

They changed the item description. Now it says specifically that it restores FP on kill.

This game needs a chest where you can open it and retrieve importante itens dropped by enemies. Like you have in ds 1

This thing is pretty good against Malenia. Staggers her hard, applies a debuff while giving you more damage, bleeds and boasts a rather quick moveset (about the same as other greatswords, but at least not as slow as UGS). Still haven't ****ing killed her, but I've at least gotten close. I hate her flurry attack with the passion of Christ
- Anonymous
i died by the crab after killing the dungeater and the items he dropped are now lost to the void, game design +100
This weapon is crazy good just for the FP gain. Pair it with Sacred Relic Sword or Blasphemous Blade and you'll get it ;-)

Welp looks like I don't get the sword, don't want to finish his quest for a second chance because I'm about to make him a puppet :(

I think the crab actually killed the Dung Eater in my game with Deathblight because I saw him being thorned to death. Is it possible for NPC invader to get killed by enemies in our world? because that’d be funny.
- Anonymous
This weapons is made for use with Heavy Armor (High Poise and Defenses).
Trying to use this in medium armor or lower will feel pretty terrible. The moveset, specifically the buffed and unbuffed R2s, benefit a lot from poise and trading hits. When used in its' element, the damage is deceptively vicious and can cut through things surprisingly swiftly. Often feeling as if it is a weapon class larger or an upgrade level higher.
- Anonymous
I wish this sword has arcane scaling. Make the str or dex scaling to D for balance reasons, how beautiful thing would this be.
- Anonymous
i am so upsetti spaghetti about the crab being harder than him as an invader, and also killing me with deathblight before i could pick the sword up
- Anonymous
Watching Bloodstaines will grant you the small FP restore. The same goes for destroying gear (Flamethrower/ Ballistas).
- Anonymous
Haven't seen this mentioned but I do recall seeing a clip of a summon using the weapon art , and then using the one for the eclipse shotel and then the host getting deathblighted. Apparently it only works on friendlies. Could be good for evil blue shenanigans
- Anonymous
So you can hate on rivers of blood all you want but sword of milos in offhand paired with the usual buff incantations takes the damage to another level and makes bleed resistant fights way easier. To my knowledge only sacrificial axe has the same fp restoration effect, please lemme know if there are other

I died to the crap before looting the sword.Finished his quest got the mending rune yet there was no sword. So it can be lost forever too idk what causes this...

for 20/55 build, this one has 5% more AR compared to keen flamberge. WA is questionable considering it only lasts for 30 seconds and locks you into animation at the start. flamberge's access to weapon buffs, lightning infusion and customizable WA defo makes it a better choice for pvp, I'd say. powerstancing could be the play here, maybe.
- Anonymous
This weapon shines in powerstance with another greatsword infused with either Cold or Bleed. The synergy is great and works wonders in both PVP and PVE.
I personally chose a claymore because it adds some pierce moves while in powerstance. Not to mention while flamberge seems like a better choice to combine this with, the Blood Claymore receives C/C scaling which is the same as the Milos sword. So stat wise, a quality approach rather than Dex benefits the Milos better aswell.
- Anonymous
If you got it from the invasion does killing dung eater in his cell gives you a second one ?
- Anonymous
Not possibly, it's definitely. When you finish the quest and reload the area, the Omen set AND the the sword will be there.
- Anonymous
The range on this weapon art is large, wider and longer than Greyoll's Roar and Rejection incantations. It possibly could be good in PVP.
- Anonymous
If you miss the sword from the invasion, completing the questline will NOT unlock it. You only get the armour set at the end.

This has 89 more base damage than a Quality Flamberge, which does have B/B scaling and can still be buffed with resins, but the Shriek self buff and enemy debuff means that this will continue to have higher damage in addition to the unique heavy attacks especially against enemies with high damage negation values. Notably it also allows statuses to proc more quickly, but the relatively low base bleed means that it still isn't the premier bleed option by itself (though powerstanced with a flamberge it does extremely well). Flamberge is a better solo use option for procing bleed since you can use resins or bloodflame to add on to the buildup and obviously with the adjustable ashes of war you can put your favorite multihit ash on it, but for a pure quality build this is likely to outperform in terms of raw damage.
sort of reminds of drake sword from first DS, I mean just the equipped armament graphic..
I got instant flashbacks, hah

So what you're saying is I can make a Rykard of Milos build if I power stance with Blasphemous Blade?
- Anonymous
This is an amazing weapon if you don't have the stats to wield it, because it allows you to scream like an idiot without using FP at all.
- Anonymous
I use this because it's so weak that you know it'll get buffed
- Anonymous
I think I'm going to get crucified for this, but I think this GS is over-hyped. I don't think it is bad per-say, but it isn't really the best at anything.
The weapon's scaling clearly favors a quality build, but there are other GSs with better quality scaling.
Every other bleed weapon in the game causes more bleed, and this weapon almost never actually procs it because it is too slow. You might get one bleed proc on a longer fight, but it requires you to play pretty aggressively to take advantage of it. On top of that, the bleed infusion on other GSs typically scales much better with their primary stat, cause double the bleed, and also get some arcane scaling, AND can use better AoWs.
The AoW on this thing seems barely worth casting, if at all. It is pretty slow, so it comes at the opportunity cost of just... swinging the weapon. Not to mention it leaves you totally vulnerable to be hit. On other GSs I can use Double Slash to to good damage on demand (and potentially build status faster), or I can put Bloodhound's step to iframe through everything.
Bloodhound's fang is just a strictly better version of this weapon. They have the same base damage and the same bleed, but BhF has strictly better scaling, attacks faster, is buffable (so you can actually put bleed resin on it and get a proc), and has a much better weapon art. Why would I ever use this sword over BhF?
- Anonymous
Literally the best sword for quality build
Builds up bleed and hits like a truck
2H R2 is 99% of the time a guaranteed roll catch
And with 50/50 str/dex can reach around 800 AR
Scales very well despite of having C scaling

I want to make a build using this weapon and was hoping for some tips. As it scales with both Str and Dex I thought a quality build would be an idea.
However whenever I level up it seems that the damage goes up more when I level Str than when I level Dex and I do not want to go to high on level. It is always easier to get more levels later than to realize you overdone it after all.
As such, what do you think? How much Str and Dex should I go and is it worth it for this weapon?
I am level 80 right now and started with the Hero class. Thx in advance.

My only gripe with this sword is it clips through my hat so I look stupid, besides that love that it looks like a sawfish bill

Sword of Milos is a very interesting weapon. Roar skill buffs your damage, stagger and debuff enemies and enhances heavy attack move set. In addition to that it's has bleed passive and restores 5 FP when you kill an enemy which also works for off hand armament including spells. And as a great sword it's decent in stance breaking as well. Overall pretty good stuff. I can see this work pretty well as a str & dex hybrid with the Clawmark Seal.

The invader has not dropped for me. Maybe last hit was from the giant crab, but anyway that's bad!!!!
Why would I ever want to use the boring triple hit vs the cool upwards slash R2
