I wish you could put offensive consumables in one of your equipment slots. It'd be neat to always have throwing weapons at the ready instead of having to fiddle with the stupid ring menu thingy.
- Anonymous
Rope grease is so stupid. A hard to farm, basically free add-100-AR-to-my-weapon button.
- Anonymous
Due to the nature of the game's respawn mechanic, if you used any consumables during a boss battle you don’t get them back when you die. This means if someone is relying on them for a boss battle and runs out, they then have to engage in the worst video game mechanic of all time: farming. So why bother?
- Anonymous
I use all the consumables and made a RL 200 quality build to do so at maxium efficiency. Not because I love their effects, but because I think the lore behind cracked pots and perfumes is some of the sickest in the entire game.
This entire system is undermined by players who'll just end up making a backup of their save, which means they'll never need to farm to restock their supply of Drawstring Grease/Pots, or Exalted Flesh/Uplifting Aromatic, unlike everyone else. And that is on top of not needing to worry about running out of finite resources like Raw Meat Dumplings or Starlight Shards ever again. I don't understand why they keep repeating the same mistake they've been repeating since Dark Souls 1 with Divine Blessings being finite, either make these items available to everyone renewably or disable the use of power items in online play, please.

Anyone know if consumables have softcaps like weapons? If so, what are they?
i did an internet search and found nothing.

if the omen bairns are considered comsumable, why not ancestral infant head?

Why does this page list things like pauper's rune and fetid flesh, shouldn't there be a separate page for cut content?
Worst thing to happen to souls pvp. Existence of many consumable items that are extremely strong but aren't really replenishable so you either dupe with friend or use save wizard file. Otherwise you just get outresourced even in duels.
The fate of pvp will be everyone running around with max starlight shards, raw meat, warming stone and frenzy stone, drawstrings, don't forget to replenish bubble shield aromatic, gotta use that exalted flesh too when you have time, of course we didn't forget about every elemental resistance liver maybe most are 15% but it's still free, and then poise poking each other until someone runs out of resources.
No of course they don't have soap duped. What did you expect?

I wish there were water pots to boost lightning damage on a enemy for 10 seconds or so, would be a great help

Love me some Fire Pots. Easy to make, gives fire damage. Can throw from a distance. Chunks life bars. I'm loving it!

It really bothers me how impractical it is to craft those pots and aromatics in bulks... The amount you can carry shouldn't limit the amount you can craft, just like any other item is not affected.
For those even if you farm enough for 500 of one type of them you need to literally waste half an hour crafting your limit, then placing it all on the grace chest, then getting up to repeat the process until you fill up...
As a person who gets easily annoyed by small but frequent tasks, this is quite a nightmare for me... I mean, I barely even cast buffs in this game for this same reason, having to remember to use them annoys the sheet out of me. The least I need to open menus and use stuff to "get ready" the more satisfied I am

Pots and perfumes are so stupid at low level. I invaded some dude at level 15, got him pretty low, then he one shots me with some perfume he pulled out of his ass. wtf

i'd really like it if they added new bell bearings for the more commonly used consumables to NG+, like rot boluses and stuff
For my second Journey,I decided to use more consumables . At first I used Opaline hardtear and crimson burst physic, Uplifting Aromatic, and Dappled cured meat. Now I use the same physic, and boiled crab and various ‘Horn charms’ to achieve a similar result. I love exploring, but I don’t want to spend 100 hours on farming.

There is a list for infinite consumables on each merchant?
Like the weeping peninsula first merchant sells infinite kukris....

The crafting costs and FP use on many janky items make the system very negligible for me, I'd love to make a character based on using the magic stones and another for aromatics but man it takes so much to help in PvE or compete in PvP with objectively trash strategies while costing way too much.
And it's not like I don't like crafting if done well, in Monster Hunter World I mained HBG and it felt great being rewarded for map knowledge and quickly going to craft more ammo on the fly during encounters when starting out and in the mid game.

The way this consumables section is laid out is very confusing. I don't know about you but I don't eat a torch when I'm done with it. I put it back in the Weapons category, where it belongs.

Ymfah's consumable-only run of this game is going to be so good.

Crafting made it hard for me to use these in coop. There's a lot of fun and useful strategies, like applying lethal poison to Mohg after using his shackle, that I don't want to use because the host might die and then I run out of materials. And it's not like the rewards you get are worth it in the first place. In Bloodborne and Dark Souls, if you helped a host defeat a boss with consumables, you could simply restock with the Souls you just got. However in Elden Ring I'll have to farm Miranda Flowers with 8k HP if I want more Poison Spraymist. It's very poorly thought out.

Is there anyway to increase the duration that the consumables are in effect? Specifically gold pickled fowl foot

I'm tilted that people never use these in all the games. "OoOoOoOoO tHe RuNe BeArS aRe tOo HaRd." Literally try putting them to sleep with a single sleep pot.

The wiki should add a projectiles category for throwing pots, knives, etc. The list of consumables is absolutely massive.

Datamined info for everyone (as of 1.03.3):
Stat softcaps depend on the damage type (this also applies to reusable tool items):
- Physical: 30/50
- Magic: 60/80
- all other types (Fire/Lightning/Holy): 50
- Bleed/Poison buildup: 45 Arc (starts scaling at 25, no other status scales with Arcane except madness)
Almost all consumables in ER only deal one damage type (only Crystal Darts and both Gravity Stones are split Phys/Mag), and *all* stats will scale *all* damage types the item has. Damage type is pretty intuitive aside from the ones I mentioned, but note that Omen Bairn deals Holy and Wraith Calling Bell deals Magic despite their similar appearance, Spark Aromatic deals Fire, and Swarm/Fly Pot deals Physical.
Base damage varies greatly. Generally the "basic" damage pots (Fire Pots, Lightning Pots, etc.) have a base damage between 200-300, and the "upgraded" versions (Redmane/Giantsflame, Ancient Dragonbolt, etc.) are about 100 more. Darts, Daggers, Kukri, and (Glint)stones are all less than 100. Base status buildup is about 200-250 for pots (Freezing Pots do 380!), and 50-100 for everything else.
Also notable: Ruin Fragments are throwable and have A (1.55) Strength and C (0.75) Dex scaling... but their base damage is 1. And because scaling works relative to the base damage it will never deal more than 1. RIP Ruin Fragment only runs.

Does anyone know what the soft cap for consumables is? Particularly perfumes and pots. I remember reading somewhere it's 50, but I can't seem to find it.

Is there a way to use greases more effectively?
In my playthrough I found the greases to be more or less negligible in terms of additional damage. For example, going against the Black Blade Kindred (Bestial Sanctum) the magic grease only added around 18 pts of additional damage. This is very underwhelming as the wiki page even describes the boss to be weak to magic damage.
Because the damage is so lackluster I started to wonder if there is more to the greases than the game lets on. Is it just a flat damage on top (like the resins from DKS3) or is there some scaling etc. involved?
If not, why even bother with the greases?

Im confused - is Flask of Cerulean Tears a one time use only or is it reusable as user maitkarro suggesting in comments?
Make two tables, one for Consumables, and one for Reusables, like in the game.

Golden rune 1 = 200 runes;
Golden rune 2 = 400 runes;
3 = 800
4 = 1600?
5 = 3200?
Best saved for when at site of grace and about to use. Handy as runes not lost on death if left as golden rune.

What is the difference between SLEEP POT and SLEEP POT? Why are there two entries?
I can recommend putting your flasks in the quick pouch slots in your equipment menu. Gone are the times you forgot to select your flask in the heat of the moment during combat.
