If only Miyazaki didn't make invasions tied to co-op. Would be way more fun and varied in invasion encounters if solo invasions (outside of Taunter's Tongue) could happen. It'd be 100% better if Rune Arcs were the multiplayer activation item, the systems from past Souls Games handled it better with an object like Ember (DS3) giving you a buff and the ability to summon the homies (friendly co-op partners) in exchange for being able to be invaded. It'd also gives Blue Phantoms an actual purpose in protecting solo players who were invaded (all they are currently are ganking tools). Also covenants being gutted was probably the stupidest decision for multiplayer they made, let's be real there.

Furlcalling finger remedy is just a redundant annoyance, just an extra item you have to activate for no reason before you can activate another. Remove it, or make activating taunters tongue automatically use a finger remedy

I honestly hope they give us an actual covenant system like in previous souls games in the dlc. Wishful thinking, but I don’t see any worthwhile reason to invade or be summoned as a blue other than just farm for infinite ruin arcs which after you gain so much experience in the game itself it just becomes redundant.

          • If they wanted an item to activate online play, my opinion is that Rune Arcs should have been an alternative way to do so, and that all the Great Runes beyond just Mohg's should have been usable by not just Hosts, but also Phantoms and Invaders. And make each boss drop a guaranteed Rune Arc when defeated, and make Invaders drop a Rune Arc for the Host when they die. And make Rune Arcs sell for 1000 Runes instead of 200, so that even if you don't need them, you can sell them and not feel like you are being cheated on the price. And add in a Bell bearing so that players have more things to continuously spend those extra runes on, like String, Arteria Leaves, Aeonian Butterflies, Lordsworn's Bolts, etc.

9/10 invasions are now you vs 2 "downscaled" level 999 phantoms and a host with 150 HP, because why invest in vigor when your mom's boyfriend's cousins will carry you through the game.

Unfortunately for you, the tryhard moron phantoms will undoubtedly double team you- the 130 poise super armor L2 spammer will get in your face while the malnourished of the group will sit in the back and fling sorceries at you ad infinitum. Remember when carian retaliation could be used to punish idiots like that? Yeah, me too. Long gone are the glory days of 1.03.

So instead you try your best, dodging as much as you can because there's no room to parry- 3v1 pressure is immense. Maybe you get in a hit or two, don't worry though they'll flask while the magic artillery in the back provides full cover.

You get out of the original gank as the man children fall back to regroup. You start to devise a new strategy, maybe you can use the terrain nearb-

Connection lost. Returning to your world.

See you forgot about the bug that results in, on average, a 2 minute invasion window. Most times if you haven't killed your host quickly enough, boop- out ya go. Try again in 10 minutes.

It's obvious to me that Miyazaki got absolutely bullied by invaders in Demon's Souls on PS3 and has been harboring hatred ever since then. He tried to ruin us with covenants and seeds in DaS3, but it wasn't enough.

Elden Ring has been his time to shine, finally he can punish the invaders.

8/10 Invasions a year after release goes like this: no enemies likely in a spot where you can't go anywhere locked doors etc., As you spawn you still see the host turning off taunters tongue. Opponents: mage lvl 567 spams magic , lvl 200 full bull goat bhs dual bleed or frost naginata on mcdonalds wifi, host wearing a rag light roll buffs them with faith incants spams giants flame. Now if you have a get the f off me ash on your build like waves of darkness if your're lucky you might kill one of them because they just run at you and start spamming as soon as they see you. Killed one, it's ok after 10 seconds a blue spawns behind you with moonveil spam.
The other 2 invasions are you getting fogwalled.

coopers: invaders backtracking into the level is cowardly!
also coopers: ima run back to the start of the level and resummon my level 700 phantom :3

Invasion experiences in this game are mostly suck. I usually encounter afk farmers and asian players those intended to use wifi connection to make them laggy and be able to do free dmg on invaders. I must say you can barely find enjoyment as invaders unless you're god-like at pvp.

                    • Anonymous

Pro tip to all you fragile-willed PvErs out there: Don't alt f4 as soon as the bad red man starts beating you, it resets the invasion timer and makes it so you'll just get invaded again as soon as you summon your buddies. I know defeat is hard to swallow, but hey, then you get 20 minutes of uninterrupted gaming time with your buds.

I don't use reddit so someone else is going to have to post, assuming it isn't already common knowledge. the collectors hardcover edition strategy guide for elden ring is available to order either from namco bandai's website or amazon. it is two parts, which is a first, but not surprising given the size of elden ring compared to any other From Software game. they are spendy though. each part is £35 on amazon, I don't know what they sell for direct from namco bandai. I've ordered mine regardless of price, the guides for the dark souls games and bloosborne are the nicest ones I've seen. very high quality.

I'm not sure this is the best place to ask, but I've just seen someone say the mimic veil wasn't in its chest for them. a reply says "likely thief.." so I'd appreciate clarification if anyone can say one way or another. as soon as I got to royal capital outskirts I went straight for the giant-crusher hammer, I got the prompt to open the chest but there was no glow like you always see when opening a chest before you loot the item inside. it was empty, and I didn't get a prompt to pick anything up. I did a lot of save and quit hoping the chest and contents would reset. the strange thing though, is every time I went to see if a reset had worked, the chest's lid was closed and I'd get a prompt to open it, but every other chest I've seen so far that holds a weapon stays open after you loot the contents, they never close once opened and they don't give a prompt to open them again. so is it possible for someone to invade my world without me getting any kind of notification that I was being invaded by another player, who could then take whatever they wanted from any chest I hadn't opened yet?

I believe the spells and incantations that can only be used against Tarnished (Fias Death Mist, the Madness grab) and related death blight weapons. Anything that only works on other players basically. The intended pvp build for Elden Ring seems to be the "crazy" split statting to use them all. Good thing the Madness Seal scales off every stat...

In Vaati's new video there are some weird glowing versions of some of these items in his inventory, anybody have an idea what these are?

So I don't see this item on this list but the other day, I had help from a phantom for the selia cave boss. Right before the boss door leading to the fallen star beast, the phantom tossed out some sort of item and summoned another phantom player. What is this item?? It was the first time I have ever seen a phantom do that

Please Update the Finger Severer item! That is not the item image in the game, and it's confusing to think that there's a second one.
