With 99 int and faith on the troll outside godrick vs +25 prince of death staff:
Magic pot625/3=208 dmg perf fp
Academy magic pot: 810/6=135 dmg per fp
Slicer: 870/6=145 dmg per fp
Pebble: 726/7=103 dmg per fp
The efficiency gap is even craizer the lower level you go since pots are always at their max scaling

These things should not scale with Intelligence at all. The whole point of grenades should be to give non-magic users an opportunity to deal elemental damage types and status effects they couldn't otherwise. By having grenades that scale with any stat that isn't Strength or Dexterity defeats that whole purpose. Also, these aren't even all that useful for Intelligence builds, because they can just use sorceries which are far more effective than these.
I don't even understand it lorewise. The item description says that this isn't a real sorcery, and Fire Pots and Lightning Pots don't require any Faith or Intelligence despite their respective spells requiring those stats, so why do these require it?

I feel like making pots/grease for each element defeats the point of build variety.

these are affected by buffs that increase magic damage, with the right combo you can make these puppies slap pretty hard.

Best spot I've found is Lenne's Rise in Caelid.
There's 9-10 Glintstone Fireflies around the site of grace.

Great pot for consumables only runs. Fireflies spawn by the dozen in Liurna's crystal areas and these seem to have higher base damage than the other small throwing pots.
