Rakshasa's Great Katana is a Great Katana in Elden Ring. It is a brand new Great Katana in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The Rakshasa's Great Katana scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity and is a good Weapon for __goodfor__.
A great katana with the tempering pattern of its blade forever stained red with blood. Weapon of Rakshasa, who cuts down and devours. A berserker's weapon used to endure enemy attacks and reply with one's full fury. When attacking, the wielder is less likely to stagger from counterattacks, but will also take increased damage.
Where to Find Rakshasa's Great Katana in Elden Ring
The Rakshasa's Great Katana weapon can be found at the following location:
- Dropped by Rakshasa in Eastern Nameless Mausoleum. This area can only be accessed by using the ladder in Shadow Keep to get down to a special teleport coffin (this Elden Ring Map location). This will take you to Ruins of Unte and you must follow the cliffs downstream and then carefully drop down to bottom level to reach the mausoleum. [Shadow of the Erdtree Map]

Love this weapon, I was worried the fire knights would be a pain on my dex guy, but this slices them up quite nicely. No Arc scaling is wild though.

Despite claiming to only have B scaling in Dex, it's actually quite good. 80 Dex compared to a Keen Guardian Swordspear, its AR is only 2 lower.
- Anonymous
this is literally just a longer rivers of blood wtf kind of pointless **** is this
- Anonymous
Beat promised consort with this guy. Just heavy enough to deal damage, just fast enough to punish tight windows between combos. Didn't proc bleed more than twice but it was enough to make a difference.

> “the wielder is less likely to stagger from counterattacks”
Youll never guess how i cheesed this boss

1) It does NOT work with other weapons if you have it on your off hand. It only works when you are attacking with this particular weapon (even though the icon of the buff is shown when you have it in your off hand, i didn't do anything for my main hand while i was attacking).
2) The hyper armour is decent but not great. You still get interrupted.
3) The frames that the hyper armour occurs are not forgiving. You have to be well into the attacking animation.
4) The best way to use this weapon for me was through trading attacks with the charged heavy attack which is a poke, so it does counter damage. If you stack 2 handed talisman, the axe talisman, and the spear talisman and do a charged heavy, you are dealing stupid amounts of damage, and they are far easier to land than -say- the Zweihander, because of the hyper armour and the higher speed.
5) Can potentially be very strong in PvP, but i don't know because i don't PvP like ever.

If you hold down the heavy attack and then press B, it gives a different attack.

Can go off hand just for its passive and can be useful if your AOW lacks hyperarmor
- Anonymous
This one is definitely the one that stands out more between the three great katanas imo. The thrust on the heavy attack is very good, the scaling is great and the weapon art is very, very good. Outside of that, it looks absolutely great too.

Is the extra poise during attacks buff applied to the weapon in your other hand?
- Anonymous
I wonder how it will do with the infinite stamina physick...

A huge issue is that there is no bloodflame damage on this given it's a mohgwyn dynasty weapon

Absoulute flop of a weapon. It is just a worse, less versatile version of Great Katana. Ash of War is trash, and u cant even change it, because it is a "unique" somber titanite weapon. Looks like "Mohgwyn Dynasty" style blood weapon, but doesn't have fire damage and arcane scaling or even bloodflame VFX on its weapon art. I am extremly disappointed...

I laughed when I saw the 12 strength requirement. This huge bloody odachi demon katana requires much less than all curved greatswords.

Kinda weird this doesn't have arcane scaling, unlike the very similar looking Rivers of Blood and Eleonora's Poleblade

One of the few areas of the DLC where I think FromSoft dropped the ball a bit. There were so many niches they could've filled, and "RoB but bigger" certainly wasn't one of them. Like, I don't know, give us a Faith Katana, and give it a Wing of Astel kind of R2 (double hits with built-in projectiles that deal Holy damage).

Does anyone know how much more damage you take with it equipped?

The AoW on this weapon is an "I win" button for any humanoid npc, they just cannot avoid it.
- Anonymous
-10% Negation to all damage types while attacking. Also combines with -15% pierce negation reduction that occurs during all attacks (counter attack window) for a total of -26.5% pierce negation (these values are without any negation from armor/talismans, values will change when wearing armor due to negation calculations).
The poise effect seems to work similarly to bull goat talisman, where it reduces incoming poise damage but this time only while attacking.
49 poise normally doesnt let me take a light poke from a spear soldier, but i was able to take one during a one handed light attack (other great katana one handed light attacks still resulted in a stagger)

I'm so glad they didn't include the giant sheathe that clips into the ground like the other great katanas.

I don‘t understand why this sword is scaling with Dex instead of Arcane. It‘s wielder was known to be a blood lusting maniac which is showcased and described by her Armor. The dragon great katana is already scaling with dex, would have been nice if they would have taken the oppurtunity and let this one scale with Arcane. I hope they change it in the future.
- Anonymous
The extra poise on this is really nice and damage is good at +10 and full set. Would the Dragon crest greatshield talisman negate the overall extra damage percentage?

they really couldnt come up with a more imaginative aow could they lmfao thats so basic

bro rivers of blood was so good they made rivers of blood 2

daedicars woe status symbol does that mean this katana makes me take 100% increased damage??? tf??

NPCs don't even try to escape Weed Cutter, which chains infinitely. You can just keep pushing L2 until they die.
- Anonymous
You get counterattack resistance penalty for all non-physical and physical, not just for pierce damage. 10% increase damage taken every time you swing for physical and non-physical. Makes you take 26.5% increase damage for pierce damage.

it's only me that i spite as i stand up and fight, the only thing i know for real-
- Anonymous
Tested in limgrave just by holding the weapon and I didn't receive any aditional damage
Even though the I had debuff icon beneath my health
Is only when attacking? Maybe using the ash of war?
- Anonymous
pair this with rakshasa set, def and consecutive hits or other offensive talismans, and slap on the newly buffed malenias great rune = monster
- Anonymous
is this and the set bugged or something? i'm taking the exact same damage i was taking without the armor and sword
- Anonymous
I use this one because it looks cool :)
It also has no sheathe
- Anonymous
Thank you for using this weapon hosts and gankers, parrying you into oblivion has never been easier
Completely unbalanced. Infinite hyperarmor, really long range thrusting running attack, weapon art that you can spam forever, if PvP is not already dead thanks to the chainsaw glitch, this will kill it for good
- Anonymous
why no arcane scaling? useless.
Blood infused great katana wayyy better
- Anonymous
This weapon has hyperarmor for both the 1H and 2H moveset unlike any other Great Katanas but it lowers your defenses.
- Anonymous
-sheathe on back.
-comes from a legend.
-red blade.
-Double wide slash weapon skill.
THE MORTAL BLADE

the damage is great, I have it at +10 with 55 dex, rakshasa set and I get 775 when two handed
- Anonymous
Any normal sized humanoid enemy, shade, blah blah gets slapped with this thing's weapon art. Carried this thing on my back just for the ho slapping potential. Stagger chain until you are out of stamina. This thing is awesome, and if you haven't slapped some ass with it you haven't even been playing yet :P

I hope this gets Arcane scaling added in a later patch. From a thematic perspective, all of the other red-stained weapons (RoB, Eleonora’s Poleblade, Bloody Helice for example) have Arcane Scaling, and while Mogh isn’t mentioned, Raksasha’s bloody nature still fits the Arcane blood theme.

they made one of the coolest looking swords and armour but it makes you take extra damage.

I think the reason it has no arcane scaling or fire damage is because it has nothing to do with Mohg, it's only red because Rakshasa has slain one too many people with it.
- Anonymous
not worth it unless they add arc scaling. I can't break the game enough without the bleed.
