Flail which deals magic damage, having been imbued with power by the remembrance of Astel.
Formed of the same many-colored star debris that comprised the form of the Naturalborn of the Void.

Is this what happens if Bastard Sword travels through stars to cause war???

This thing is just not as interesting as Wing of Astel. Heavy attacks being generic is a missed opportunity. They could have some sort of a small AoE at no mana cost, as an alternative to the Wing's heavies that launch projectiles. The skill would also benefit from some hyperarmour
- Anonymous
Flails and Curved greatswords both need serious buffs. Flails just need hyperarmor on powerstance, CGS need something as to not be outclassed by GK, otherwise as cool as both classes are they are utterly useless in PVP except in niche circles.

- Anonymous
why do the notes & tips not mention this things 50% damage increase against mohglike enemies?
- Anonymous
the wing of astals has a better crit and r2 but this thing looks cooler

- Anonymous
Amazing ash of war, but I think it would have been better as a striking whip with a "float" effect. It could also work somewhat similar to how Astel uses his tail. Probably, also giving it a longer reach then the other whips, since Astel's tail as long reach.
Would be a cool mod!
- Anonymous
I love this weapon, started a run using this and wing of astel from the start. I think the ash of war is situationally better than wing of astel's version. The repositioning is actually quite nice, and its way easier to hit the initial knock. Also a lot of bosses you can hit with it that you'd need to be a lot closer to with wing of astel. Ultimately I think its let down by not having a unique R2 (i imagine like spin above the head that stretches out slightly), I could live the rest of the flail movesets wasted potential. R2 does a ton of stance damage, jumping and running easier to land though
Cold nightrider's flail in off hand with chilling mist is a good combo. Absolutely good enough for pve and holds its own in pvp on surprise alone
- Anonymous
Is it better than Wing of Astel? Probably not. Is the flail moveset particularly fun or good? No. Does this weapon look sick as all get out and make a jingle jangle noise as you walk around? Yes.
- Anonymous
I love this weapon but Wing's Nebula is easier to use, and since it's quicker you can spam it for overall higher DPS than this allows, at least from my experience. Most DLC bosses won't let you use Bastard's Stars AoW a lot but Wings is fast enough. Having said that it's a great strike weapon for dex/int builds and I love the look of the baby rattle solar system.
- Anonymous
Much stronger than Wing of Astel (damage-wise) when used optimally, but Wing of Astel has a lower dex requirement and is therefore probably better, at least for caster/int-focused builds.
- Anonymous
I haven't used this since launch, but it's so powerful now. I actually prefer using it over the wing of astel.
- Anonymous
Seemingly obvious but never mentioned: this is the only INT scaling weapon that deals strike-type physical damage.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
It's a solid weapon but Wing of Astel exists. It fills similar niche to Bastard's Stars, but is available earlier, and imo overall stronger and more versatile. If AoW of the Stars had hyperarmour I could see myself using it over the Wing occasionally, but right now it just seems like a downgrade

- Anonymous
Actually one of the most important lore descriptions: Life can come from literally nothing
- Anonymous
This is one of the few weapons I've never tried. But it looks so cool man, the ash of war is similar to wing of astel and that thing destroys big enemies. That A in int looks promising too
- Anonymous
a dex strike weapon is the only validation for the flail classes existence
- Anonymous
Some niche information for high level INT caster PvE builds that plan on putting heavy armor on their character and are looking for a melee sidearm:
51 poise is the PvE softcap because most enemy attacks in the game do exactly 50 poise damage.
This is a flail, which are the lightest weapon class that can get hyperarmor (a % reduction in how much poise damage you take) on their swings when 2-handed. Greatswords (DMGS) behave the same way, but are heavier.
Every hyperarmor swing resets 80% of your max poise, so at 64 max poise every swing will reset your poise to 51.
Just something to consider when comparing weapons like this one with Moonveil, DMGS, Wing etc.
Really surprises me how well this thing works in both PvE and PvP. Nebula has crazy reach and the AoEs pop after an unpredictable amount of time. The base moveset is meh but has decent stagger and posture damage. Charged R2 is kinda fun too
- Anonymous
A little inconsistent. But PVE has big stagger potential on bosses. Even not upgraded
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
This weapon deserves a unique heavy to make it more competitive to the wing of astel.
- Anonymous
Never used it but my cousin made a build with it when he found it. The Skill controls space so well. Hard to Get through if you know how to use it. Flail in right hand. Staff in left. He made a monstrous battle mage. Very underrated weapon and one of my favs.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I think it would look better if it was a little more floaty, instead of just jangling around like a normal flail.
- Anonymous
For anyone hesitant on its moveset besides aow, would recommend investing in a shield for guard counters which are one of the strongest and most underrated strong points of flails, having really strong poise damage for their speed and making up for their lack of range.
- Anonymous
Pros:
Really good damage for int builds that can be accessed in a reasonable amount of time.
Fantastic AoW that's almost always useful in some capacity
Looks and sounds great
Cons
Has the range of a dagger for some ungodly reason
Has the standard flail moveset
No status build up or any other special features

Does anyone know why the weapon art doesn't work when summoned to another world?

Im so happy. In the past, Wing of Astel had the same exact Scaling in each single update level and same exact base damage - but not only was it a curved sword which hits faster thus dealing said damage quicker, it also got the Heavy Attack projectiles which cost no mana - that the Rememberance weapon aka the Flail did not recieve. Obviously a Rememberance weapon should be better than its Curved Sword clone you pick up in a chest without the need to kill the boss and trade a Rememberance. But now I see in some update Miyazaki finally fixed it - the Flail now has slightly higher base damage than the sword, its no longer the same numbers, and the Flail now offers an A Scaling in Intelligence at +10, compared to the Sword which only offers a B, but I think the sword has slightly better Dex scaling as it becomes C sooner than the Flail. Nevertheless, each is now good at its own thing and the Rememberance Flail got the much needed buff so that when I use it I dont feel like an idiot for using a weaker version of the Sword instead of trading it all for Runes.
- Anonymous
Kinda wish there was a gravity mace. Just a rock on a stick with a slightly better version of cragblade. Make it str/int. Then when you need more rocks, you can stick more rocks on your rock. Elden Ring: : Now with more rocks per cubic meter!
- Anonymous
Damn it, i made a strenght/int build thinking this was a strenght/int weapon!
- Anonymous
Used this thing for a bit and it’s a blast, sure it’s a flail so it’s moveset suffers but it’s really not a huge deal with the buffs it’s gotten now (atleast in PVE). The ash of war is insanely good in PVE and PVP. Decent speed, long range, high damage, and the explosions can combo into an R1 to destroy someone. Definitely give this a try, very fun!

- Anonymous
Astel literally has a spiky tail for a flail, why isn't that part of this weapon's design? It could've kept the bleed. Smh, fkin fromsoft
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Aesthetically its great, but why a flail? With how the boss looks, a whip would've have been much more fitting. Such a missed opportunity.
- Anonymous
Why this is the remembrance weapon instead of the wing is beyond me.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Wish this didn't require so much Dex :( i just want this for a quick swap for the gravity theme -_-
- Anonymous
Good to combo with swift glintstone shard on fast agressive enemies, especially in pvp
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
The Nebula hits pretty hard, especially if you hit with both the strike and the explosion. But it's slow and high cost. You can't really build a character around it because you get it too late in the game and attacking with sorceries is cheaper and safer.
I have 2 of these at +10 and at 80 int and 70 DEX, the melee damage is nothing special, but it's a goofy novelty weapon for a ng+ run.
- Anonymous
Was really hoping this would be a str int version of the wing for my str/int build.. but it scales best with int anyway and I have half decent dex . I sti use them both as the damage is still very good and in PvP they both still slap and are psuedo combo kings with spell/ash mix ups

- Anonymous
Would be cool if it had a unique charged heavy like the wing of Astel , like a tiny wave of darkness every time you do a heavy
- Anonymous
Wing of Astel’s Nebula is for sure better vs large and slow enemies. But this Nebula is much better against faster, humanoid enemies. Also this weapon has better Int scaling than WoA.
- Anonymous
So the imps in all sorts of catacombs, got no absorption to strike dmg and lesser to magic dmg amongs elemental dmgs
Guess its very good having a cat toy if needing to repel little roc furries

Craft your own Astel with Fallingstar Beast Jaw, Wing of Astel, and this

The Baby Rattle, favored by compact psycho streamers known to threaten to put their audience into meatgrinders on stream.
- Anonymous
Sure Wing of Astel might be better in most cases, but on the other hand this looks like a big Cat Toy, imagine the embarrassment your enemies would feel getting beaten by an idiot who uses an oversized cat toy/baby rattle as a weapon.
- Anonymous
So is this thing made out of an Astel's...you know, "stars"?
- Anonymous
this flail is not worth to get IMO, both for pve and pvp. just go get its curved sword variant, the Wing Of Astel.
the curved sword move sets is superior, and the skill, Nebula, somewhat can dealt more damage even on very large enemy like dragons. and its can be cast faster and recovers faster.
i will glad if someone prove me wrong.

I literally could not land a single hit on Crucible Knight duo with the L2 special, even if they were standing right in it. Think it might be bugged.
- Anonymous
I just started using this in pvp and it works really well if you combine it with one of the phalanx spells. Ive been facing away from other players to avoid triggering the spell then I hit L2 and lock on to them. I can also follow up with Carian piercer or greatsword but no one has survive up to that point so far without running out of range.

Be aware: While wearing Deathbed Dress and using Bastar's Stars weapon RT attack with charching (flail spins few times) it causes very small aoe damage to atleast Torrent and summon ashes. I didn't test it with merchants after I accidentally hurt Torrent and mimic with that :( Patch 1.04.1

- Anonymous
This thing's weapon art is a little busted in pvp due to it's range and attack frames making it very difficult to dodge. To be fair, most people don't see it coming to begin with since no one uses it, but this is definitely the go-to for anit-player situations (the wing version on the other hand works much better on mobs)

The WA on this is incredibly inconsistent and unimpressive. Astel's Wing has a way smaller area of effect but will hit enemies many more times than this. Even using this on a large enemy with multiple sections of its body within the hitbox of several explosions, they just sometimes do not seem to have active hitboxes and even though the animation will explode multiple times, a large enemy will get hit only once or twice. Once while farming the larger Envoys, I have had one of them walk through the explosion and take not even one hit from the explosion. I wish this weapon was more rewarding to use but its very short range on heavy and normal attacks with inconsistent WA make it feel not worthwhile.

Which are...?

It's a lot of fun and kind of funny to run an Int/Dex mage and powerstance this with a magic Nightrider Flail. Bonk smarter, not harder. ;)
But seriously, both scale pretty well with both stats, and since they do magic damage they benefit from magic buffs like the flask you're likely already using. Smash the heck out of stuff and nuke the rest with a glitter bomb.

I’m really lost af on how to use the nebula skill with this weapon. I can only do regular strikes with R1 and R2. What do I need to do to use the nebula skill?
- Anonymous
Does anyone else have a problem where the flail does like 10 hp self damage when charging the heavy attack lmao I am not even kidding. It keeps breaking the ritual shield
- Anonymous
At first I upgraded this weapon bc I thought it looked cool and mostly ignored the weapon skill bc it felt difficult to use. Now I have a build centered around the weapon skill bc it is SO FUN!! I recommend practicing on some ez low lv targets then once u feel confident, watch endgame mobs' hp melt away. The star explosion deals huge damage (as a mage with 99 int at least) it just takes maintaining the best distance to unleash the weapon skill. Its about 1 roll distance. The skill will cause u to do the animation with 0 fp without any stars so be careful to watch your fp bar otherwise u wind up being prone while doing the jump animation without the high damage star explosion.
- Anonymous
Apparently this was mistranslated, and it should be "Naturalborn's Stars" which makes a lot more sense.
- Anonymous
"Flail which deals magic damage, having been imbued with power
by the remembrance of a great e-clown."
- Anonymous
I really wanted to love this weapon, I'm happy with everything about it, except I can't get over the flail held R2 charge attack. Super slow (ik I can just release sooner but why not just jump R2 then?) and really short range without a decent step forward on the swing.
- Anonymous
I don't underestand how people can complain about this wepon's ash of war. It's slow but has really large range and deals much higher damage than the wing if both the wepon and the mist hit which requiers some skill I guess. Not to mention the fact that multiple explosions can hit one target which makes this wepon a true awatar and dragon killer. It's obviously good against groups of smaller enemies not just because of good damage and range but also stagger potential. It also costs almost no fp and goes thrue walls. The main downside it that it's mostly useless against faster bosses like malenia and morgott
- Anonymous
kill larger foes like nothing else. harder to use than astel but you just gotta know how to position yourself. astel is better if you just want to spam press buttons though.
- Anonymous
Practically worse than the Wing of Astel. the weapon art orbs have tiny explosion radius and will not hit unless each one is inside enemy hitboxes, so having a full circle compared to the wing's cone is very not worth the extra wind-up/down time, significantly lowering its boss dps, and sometimes leave you no safe window to use the weapon art while the wing can. People say that this works well on large enemies but they only have a few points connecting the ground, or are so large that you cannot be personally inside their hitboxes.
However, everyone gotta have a strike weapon, and this is the int one.
This weapon isn't actually too bad, requires some skill to use but it's easy to learn, decent in PvP but Wing of Astel is still better, art is really good against large bosses and the initial jump can be pretty useful as well. Doesn't have a cool charged attack like Wing of Astel does though much to my disappointment
- Anonymous
This version of nebula is very slow and too spread. Wing of astel is 100 better than this garbage. I've tried both of them+9 against late-game enemies. There's no play.
- Anonymous
There is an initial "leaping" strike, followed by a series of explosions forming a semi-circle around the caster. Therefore, you have to have some skill to use this weapon. Without practice, the initial strike from the weapon art fails to connect on many occasions, but if you get the distance down, you shouldn't have a problem. This is THE striking option for Int users. The beefy AoE takes care of mobs and the striking damage takes care of the Crystal bosses and the like. Such a great weapon. I +10 immediately as a secondary to Moonveil.

This weapon is not very good but it looks cool. It's decent damage but the skill rarely works as intended as the delayed hitbox often whiffs. It's not trash but it's nothing special.
- Anonymous
What I don't get is why it and other flails are dex weapons. I think swinging around spiked balls on a chain requires more strength than dexterity
- Anonymous
Im so in love with this weapon. The weapon art is a thing of beauty and has a really good damage output coupled with decent range as well.
- Anonymous
I love this flail so much but I have just one tiny gripe: just like Freide's Scythe in DS3 it has a high pitched tinkling sound when you move while it's equipped (the scythe is all times because of the frost.) I equip the silencing talisman or blacknife platebody just to run quietly while using it.
- Anonymous
This upgrade can be enchanted with Magic or boosted with Consumables. Well that was a f*cking lie
- Anonymous
This thing is busted!!! The flails in this game in general are just great
- Anonymous
Cutest looking weapon in the game, looks like a childrens toy
- Anonymous
Weapon art on this thing slaps, amazing damage and CC vs enemy groups. I haven't tried it on a large boss to see if the explosions can multihit yet, if they can it might be insane as a dragonslaying weapon
- Anonymous
For anyone out of the loop, it's pretty much required in the game to have a "Strike" weapon in your back pocket. This one is probably one of the best for Dexterity/Intellect builds due to the WA being very good on the type of targets you would use it for.
- Anonymous
Running this with the Chilling mist Ash of war and I must say, it's pretty strong with both the bleed and frost application. STR/INT build.

Does anyone know if the weapon art scale better on the Bastard's Stars or Astel?
Someone on reddit got a tattoo of this thing.
