Harp Bow is a Light Bow in Elden Ring. The Harp Bow scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity and is a good Weapon for Archer Builds. All Light Bows require Arrows to fire.
Bow fashioned from a minstrel's harp. Sonorous tones still resound when firing arrows.
Troubadours sing tales of champions, both in the honorable service of the Erdtree, and the one who spurns honor for blasphemy.

If only it shot sound waves and didn't need arrows at all... would be a 10/10 weapon!

Bard weapon. Cosplay midget king David. Play harp and throw rocks at your enemies.

The selling point here seems to be that it is stupid light and perfect for pure FTH or INT builds that invest nothing into STR or DEX. Only weights 2.0 too, about as much as daggers or fist weapons. The closest comparison here is the Shortbow which weights 0.5 more, and deals like +10% more damage maybe. So if you intend to use these small bows for simple things like stacking status effects, pulling agros, etc - this one is simply min maxed for that. You weren't trying to deal damage anyway, and now you are not doing damage with style and have 0.5 weight to spare.
Except... You can put AoWs on Shortbow and you can't on this one. Granted: you don't really have many interesting options to put on a Shortbow - if you're going to spam one of the sillier AoW you might as well invest into a real bow, but still... Options are options.
Makes me wonder if the Harpman here was supposed to have a unique special AoW. But all things considered - Barrage is probably the best what it could ended up with.

I will use this harp to sing of the tragedy that is this weapon and how much it completely sucks

It would be wild if there's a secret to this bow not found yet. Maybe it needs to be played to something or someone and new dialogue or action happens

This boy's pretty pathetic for something that requires somber smithing stones. At least give it a musical skill, I use this for my Bard character along with the Envoy horns

Since i never level dexterity, you can call this bow -instrumental- to my ng+ toolkit for kiting enemies.
- Anonymous
closest thing to the instruments the Nomadic Merchants play on
- Anonymous
This is the best bow because when you use Barrage it goes bring brong pling borng ploing
- Anonymous
So here's a bit of fun while building a new character for the dlc I smooshed by ancient dragon L but not before he pushed the fight to the cliff where the harp bows painter is triggering the bow to spawn and thus screwing me out of collecting the loot so much for that 100% completion until next playthrough

Perfumerer chest, Gloves, Page boots, the helm that weight 0.7, this weapon, dagger, ritual Shield and sword, Arrow and Blue Dancer Charm out you at 15.1 weight. You need 9 STR and Dex and you can do weird stuffs.
- Anonymous
sure its the "worst bow" but it has barrage which makes it just as good at applying status as other bows. all bows are bad anyway just use the most stylish one.
- Anonymous
Best bow 'cause it goes *brrriingg*. My bard cosplay is complete. Now just give me a damn lute so I can alkabonk.
- Anonymous
Rainbow Stone and Status Arrow usage are mandatory with this bow.
- Anonymous
... Going to have to take this weapon concept, and homebrew it into my DnD for Archery-Proficient Harper Agent bard. fits in that game, at least!
- Anonymous
Ah... the Harpers of the Forgotten Realms are such insufferable meddlers... going so far as to Planeshift a weapon like this into another game universe to spread their annoying symbolism...
- Anonymous
by looking at the description and design i assume this should have been a faith shortbow with D faith scaling and some added holy damage...
just like the serpent bow.... a last minute change to avoid having a good bow.
hopefully this gets fixed in a future patch

So after the chorus of complaints, I decided to look under the hood. I expected to find a travesty and a car crash. What did I find? It is basically the shortbow., but weighs less. At max upgrade it does 8 less damage... And has a tiny bit less strength scaling, and slightly higher, yes, higher dex scaling. On a weapon based on Barrage, which does 80% damage per shot anyway (so the gap is actually smaller). So I guess we are mad that it isn't a straight upgrade to shortbow? So you apply status effects just as well, and it makes harp noises when it fires! C'mon, harp noises!
- Anonymous
who needs damage when you can literally play music during a fight
- Anonymous
Why do they put useless things so far into the game? This should be behind some breakable boxes in limgrave. Literally a novelty weapon.
- Anonymous
Retrofitting a musical instrument into a projectile weapon…taking a hit on base damage is understandable I guess, if only just to hear that sweet sound.
- Anonymous
Sleep arrows+Harp Bow=Lullaby Bow.
Then you get them with the BIG ****ING DOOT HORN!
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I love these kinds of equipment. "How about I take away some base damage.... In exchange for harp noises when firing?" "DEAL!"
- Anonymous
Being the lightest makes it the perfect utility bow. And it actually has harp sound when you shoot.
- Anonymous
This + every envoy horn+uplifting aromatic= the closest thing youre gonna get to playing a bard in elden ring
0/10 doesn't force two enemies to kiss when I shot both of them
- Anonymous
For builds that want a bow, but have none of the stats required (probably a pure mage that uses fist/claw/dagger weapons), I give you;
The Harp.
But they probably have enough str and dex to use a crossbow or something.

You might say the flying represent sharp notes made by the instrument.
The sort of the subtle weaponry jokes we need more of.

Found it... one of those ghost in a chair types that disappears leaving an item. On a ridge near / above the 'rampartside path' site of grace. Not sure if it matters but the dragon was already dead at the time.
- Anonymous
I mean, it seems worthless, but maybe it acts like Shattershard Arrows, and makes it so where arrows land attract enemies via noise? Maybe both stack, too... Someone should test it, to be safe.
- Anonymous
Looking for the cheapest way to shoot status arrows and *only* status arrows? Well here you go; you may not like it, but this is what peak utility looks like.
- Anonymous
We have horn weapons, and this for an instrumental bow... DAMMIT FROM! GIMME MOAR MUSICAL WEAPONS! I WANT A GUITAR AXE! D:<
- Anonymous
if this had D Arcane scaling to boost status effect would be worth even with the low damage

I don't know what's up with some Paintings giving extremely weird items, but I'm entirely here for it. I mean this is effectively a weak normal bow that is for some reason a somber weapon. Goofy, and I love it
- Anonymous
They really should have made this stack with sleep arrows.
- Anonymous
This type of weapon could actually work in real life and honestly it would be cool to see someone make it. You'd need the harp strings slightly offset from the bowstring and something on the bowstring itself that would strike them as it bounces forward after launching an arrow. There couldn't be many strings and they couldn't have higher tension than the bowstring itself and I highly doubt they would wind up making the same sounds as this weapon, but... hey, the concept works.
- Anonymous
it would be cool if this had an aggro range multiplier on it, since you're making a racket with the harp
- Anonymous
this really shouldve been a bard-type weapon, maybe make it buff nearby allies for every arrow you hit or something?
- Anonymous
I don’t care if it does statistically lower damage. I just love it. Not like any bows in the game have stellar scaling anyway. I will chime my way through… or at least hunt the Mohgwyn bird… Same thing right? I don’t run into the range issue thaaaat often, nothing the arrow’s reach talisman can’t remedy.
- Anonymous
The best bow for pelting your enemies with rainbow stones. Therefore the only bow I need.
- Anonymous
so you have the harp and the envoy horns. we need more instruments in ER to be able to make a full band.

- Anonymous
I can only assume this bow is meant for someone not using STR or DEX but there are other bows for FTH, INT, and ARC so...yeah this is just bad.
- Anonymous
Only weighs 2 lbs, I assume Blue dancer charm would make this a lot more viable?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I really hope this gets a weapon art like Rallying Standard (and a damage buff)
- Anonymous
Trying to beat the game with only the harp bow, i just beat morgott and I'm starting to think elden beast might be impossible
I'm at 60 dex, 3 damage increasing talismans and I only do 287 damage per shot to the albinaurics in mohgwyn
Add missed shots or damage lost from range and I think I'll run out of arrows
- Anonymous
I feel like since this is a multi-string bow and also a somber stone weapon, they should have made the barrage ash of war shoot 2-3 arrows, or even let you fire both your arrow types at once. Thoughts?
- Anonymous
This bow has a place in the game and that place is helping me farm birds and drawing aggro.
- Anonymous
The highest stat on this is fashion. I guess they had to balance it out with weak damage.
- Anonymous
I don't give a **** if it's next to useless imma get it to +10 anyway because it's a cute harp bow, thats more than enough reason to do so.
- Anonymous
I know it's not the very best bow therefore trash poopoo doodoo but it's so fun and cool so yknow it's not so bad
- Anonymous
I feel like this bow is only good for a mage that wants to save FP.
- Anonymous
When you go brrrr enemies should drop it and shake it then start dancing like that one area we all know and love
- Anonymous
This is a very situational weapon but extremely useful in those situations. Basically this is the ideal status applicator of any non caster build. Non existent stat requirements and the lowest weight of any bow it can be used on any dex and/or strength build with next to no stat investment.
It does not do any damage but that is irrelevant when you can carry up to 99 poison and 99 rot arrows at the same time and machine gun them into the boss to apply both statuses simultaneously.
You are gonna get significant mileage out of this little thing on the beefy bosses. Give it a try you have nothing to lose.

The more notes you play in a row, the higher your damage should go.
I wish this was more than a joke item. I feel like this would've needed something more special than playing notes when fired. Maybe something like get a small but unique buff dependant on the type of arrow you are using. Nothing too crazy. Maybe a slight damage buff with idk fire arrows, slight defense buff with holy arrows.. Something like that. So we could actually play as a real fantasy rpg bard class.
Essential for 'bard' runs. Love this weapon. Not sure why. The sound cracks me up.

Harps are very heavy string instruments, but somehow this is the lightest bow. The kriegmesser doesn't even remotely resemble a messer and the shamshir looks nothing like a real shamshir. It makes me wonder if FromSoft even looks at images of the real-life weapons they put in their games. Video game logic is always nonsensical I guess.
Am I going to be the one to tell all you guys that the description for finding this item is non existent.. we get the location of the painting instead. -.-
Consdering you can get this to +9 long before you could get any of the others to plus +24. This acutally is the best Light Bow for most of the game if you rush to get it.

This bow is nice for those who want to cosplay as Tristan from Fate/Grand Order.

Elden Ring music band playthrough here we go: Harp bow, Envoy's Greathorn, bastard's stars and something with roar ash of war.
- Anonymous
I'm here just to find out if this thing has a purpose.
And it does: Aesthetics.
- Anonymous
This bow also makes no sound when shooting while crouching.... at first I thought it was not worth my time but slowly has turned into one of my favorites. If only the range was a bit better.
- Anonymous
Huh, funny how the description fits the painting. I like it.
They should have made this thing use basic titanite- Er- Smithing stones. Not being able to infuse it really sucks especially since it has no special weapon art- um- ash of war.
- Anonymous
yo they bugfixed the harp sound not playing, this is the best bow in the game!

Remember: this is a light bow. Its moveset is godly.
I find in Elden Ring the best weapons are not the numbers they boast but the actual reliability of the moveset.

- Anonymous
Shocked it's a somber with no innate extra damage type or special ability
- Anonymous
Since the damage with the Light Bows are almost similar across the board, I say this is the best one just because it's the most unique.
Sure, technically the lowest damage...but not by much since all of them sacrifice damage for mobility and horseback usability.
- Anonymous
Its wrongfully listed as a smithing stone bow.
was hoping to keep it as my +25 shortbow but then i got it and its actually a somber bow so I guess i'll use it instead of blackbow because i find it funny when it does the harp noises
- Anonymous
It's the lightest bow, and upgrades with somberstones so its pretty neat. The sound it makes is funny too
- Anonymous
Since I play harp in real life I should really use this weapon.
- Anonymous
Harp bow with no unique ash ability, Terrible missed opportunity.
- Anonymous
While this is arguably worse than Misbegotten and Black Bow for bossing and even general play, it still has a use. You can rush the harp bow on a fresh NG before even fighting a single boss with the Dectus Lift. It is after all a unique weapon (and shortbow) that requires only somberings to upgrade.
You can pretty much upgrade that thing to +6 (or even +9/I would save 7-9 for Black Bow) right off the bat. At +6 with no attributes it would take a +13/14 Misbegotten Shortbow @30 strength to beat it. +13 is already needs lvl 5 smithing stones and takes a decent bit of playtime and exploring to reach.
With that +6 Harp Bow and only vigor and endurance you can now steamroll Godrick, Renalla, Radahn and progress into Leyendell to get the Black Bow.

imagine if the WA makes you play music and give you and allies around you a buff. kinda like commander's banner. No because that'd be too much fun

Probably one of the worst somber weapons in the game, but still get’s the job done if you just want something to inflict status effects with. Plus it has a cool musical theme.
