Harp Bow is a Light Bow in Elden Ring. The Harp Bow scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity and is a good Weapon for Archer Builds.
Bow fashioned from a minstrel's harp. Sonorous tones still resound when firing arrows.
Troubadours sing tales of champions, both in the honorable service of the Erdtree, and the one who spurns honor for blasphemy.

Essential for 'bard' runs. Love this weapon. Not sure why. The sound cracks me up.

Harps are very heavy string instruments, but somehow this is the lightest bow. The kriegmesser doesn't even remotely resemble a messer and the shamshir looks nothing like a real shamshir. It makes me wonder if FromSoft even looks at images of the real-life weapons they put in their games. Video game logic is always nonsensical I guess.
Am I going to be the one to tell all you guys that the description for finding this item is non existent.. we get the location of the painting instead. -.-
Consdering you can get this to +9 long before you could get any of the others to plus +24. This acutally is the best Light Bow for most of the game if you rush to get it.

This bow is nice for those who want to cosplay as Tristan from Fate/Grand Order.

Elden Ring music band playthrough here we go: Harp bow, Envoy's Greathorn, bastard's stars and something with roar ash of war.

I'm here just to find out if this thing has a purpose.
And it does: Aesthetics.

This bow also makes no sound when shooting while crouching.... at first I thought it was not worth my time but slowly has turned into one of my favorites. If only the range was a bit better.
- Anonymous
Huh, funny how the description fits the painting. I like it.
They should have made this thing use basic titanite- Er- Smithing stones. Not being able to infuse it really sucks especially since it has no special weapon art- um- ash of war.
- Anonymous
yo they bugfixed the harp sound not playing, this is the best bow in the game!

Remember: this is a light bow. Its moveset is godly.
I find in Elden Ring the best weapons are not the numbers they boast but the actual reliability of the moveset.

Shocked it's a somber with no innate extra damage type or special ability
- Anonymous
Since the damage with the Light Bows are almost similar across the board, I say this is the best one just because it's the most unique.
Sure, technically the lowest damage...but not by much since all of them sacrifice damage for mobility and horseback usability.
- Anonymous
Its wrongfully listed as a smithing stone bow.
was hoping to keep it as my +25 shortbow but then i got it and its actually a somber bow so I guess i'll use it instead of blackbow because i find it funny when it does the harp noises
- Anonymous
It's the lightest bow, and upgrades with somberstones so its pretty neat. The sound it makes is funny too
- Anonymous
Since I play harp in real life I should really use this weapon.

Harp bow with no unique ash ability, Terrible missed opportunity.

While this is arguably worse than Misbegotten and Black Bow for bossing and even general play, it still has a use. You can rush the harp bow on a fresh NG before even fighting a single boss with the Dectus Lift. It is after all a unique weapon (and shortbow) that requires only somberings to upgrade.
You can pretty much upgrade that thing to +6 (or even +9/I would save 7-9 for Black Bow) right off the bat. At +6 with no attributes it would take a +13/14 Misbegotten Shortbow @30 strength to beat it. +13 is already needs lvl 5 smithing stones and takes a decent bit of playtime and exploring to reach.
With that +6 Harp Bow and only vigor and endurance you can now steamroll Godrick, Renalla, Radahn and progress into Leyendell to get the Black Bow.

imagine if the WA makes you play music and give you and allies around you a buff. kinda like commander's banner. No because that'd be too much fun

It should apply sleep buildup and have a weapon art that plays a lullaby or something lol
- Anonymous
Uh... At least it makes harp sounds. Smh.
Why make it so weak and without an ash of war, if its so unique and so hard to find?
- Anonymous
The only worthwhile shortbow for barraging. Though, even blackbow can do that better.
- Anonymous
Just a note, it takes Somber Smithing Stones instead of the standard smithing stones.
- Anonymous
Really seems like a missed opportunity to not have it cast an incantation or just have some kind of unique skill.
- Anonymous
I think the benefit of this bow is that it needs somber stones, so like 1/4th the cost of upgrading to +9/10 vs +24/25?
- Anonymous
it does make harp sounds, actually. if you use barrage you can hear a harp strum
- Anonymous
As of the 1.03 patch (3/17/22) the Harp Bow now strums notes whenever firing arrows. A neat detail at least?

is this missable? looked for it during the ashen capital. found the painting, but no spirit in front of it...

Closest bonfire is rampartside path, south from woodfolk ruin. Looking west you should see the statue in the painting you need beforehand.

I'm really hoping a few of these items get updated, I.E. you can get the through and through greatbow skill but...cannot apply it to anything since all ashes available great bows already have it and can't use anything else.
Maybe this one can get a skill. I'm dedicated to it for my bard and its still fine, honestly not even that bad for applications of poisons/bleeds since its the lightest bow and that is a plus, but man I wish it had something special.
- Anonymous
Has anybody checked to this bow with Trina's Arrows? It feels like something that would increase sleep potency just going by game logic and their propensity to make music items cause sleep.

It seems that all special (somber) ranged weapons do not have any special weapon art, except Radahn's great bow, I suppose. This is quite unpleasant, as most somber melee weapons have fancy special weapon art. The special ranged weapons do not get these, and they cannot replace their weapon arts as well. Kind of a pity, as some of the ranged weapons look fashionable, though.

Not finished upgrading, but currently:
Harp Bow +0 - 62 E/E
Harp Bow + 1 - 70 E/E
Harp Bow +2 - 79 E/E
Harp Bow +3 - 88 E/E
Harp Bow +4 - 97 E/E
Harp Bow +5 - 106 E/E
Note scaling is improving, significantly in fact within that 'E/E' as in right now it seems to have higher scaling for my stats than my shortbow at +8. I'm wondering if it turns decent as it goes, but its great cosplay, it is very light however.
- Anonymous
For your Bard class roleplaying needs. But I guess you'll have to sing the songs IRL...
- Anonymous
Why does this exist? It has worse scaling and base damage than the shortbow you can start the game with or buy from the first merchant. I guess it's the lightest bow, but only by 0.5 weight.
- Anonymous
Currently have this at +9, at some point during the upgrade path the Dex scaling upgraded from E to D.
Kind of disappointed that the Harp Bow is basically just a skin for the basic Shortbow, but I love the design so much I’ve been sticking with it. It still gets the job done, considering how fast Light Bows can shoot using the jump attack into dash attack combo. Great for applying Poison and Bleed arrows, and the damage adds up quickly despite the low numbers per shot.

From the description I thought it would have played music when using it's ash of war but sadly that isn't the case.

If anyone is looking for this while info is still scarce, the location is on a hill near the big statue (a spirit in a chair will point to the statue and drop it). On the road South of the Eastern Minor Erdtree in Altus Plateau. The weapon is Special, so it uses Somber Smithing Stones to level up. The skill is "Barrage", which lets you draw and fire arrows at a fast rate. Hope it helps!

Skill : Barrage
Cannot be infused by ashes of war
Upgraded using somber smithing stones
Well... can't help but feel incredibly disappointed. Could have given it a unique ash of war since it's a literal harp but nope, just another shortbow. Scaling on it is terrible too, I was really looking forward to finding and using this.

i see, Bards Class is incoming, even a flute-stick-like Hammer can be get, so lets go !
I wish this was more than a joke item. I feel like this would've needed something more special than playing notes when fired. Maybe something like get a small but unique buff dependant on the type of arrow you are using. Nothing too crazy. Maybe a slight damage buff with idk fire arrows, slight defense buff with holy arrows.. Something like that. So we could actually play as a real fantasy rpg bard class.
