Bloody Helice is a Heavy Thrusting Sword in Elden Ring. The Bloody Helice scales primarily with Arcane and Dexterity and is a good Weapon for Piercing Damage and additional blood loss along with a complementing Unique Skill, Dynast's Finesse which allows the user to avoid an attack and follow up with a strong attack.

Ominous piercing sword with a winding blade. Carried by the noble servants of the Lord of Blood.

Designed to bore into flesh, causing severe blood loss at the wound. The extracted blood trickles gracefully down the length of the blade.

Elden Ring Bloody Helice Notes & Tips

  • Weapon Skill: Dynast's Finesse
  • This weapon cannot be infused with Ashes of War or buffed with Magic and Consumables
  • Bloody Helice can be upgraded by using Somber Smithing Stones
  • Causes Blood loss Buildup: hemmorage (55)
  • Its weapon art is a back-stepping dodge, an R2 attack used during this animation will cause the player to follow up with a heavy forward thrust.  An additional R2 input will cause the player to utilize a two hit combo follow up attack.  All parts of the weapon art utilize additional FP.
    • The spinning dodge costs no FP if one has not met the stat requirement to use the weapon, which can be used by pure caster builds to evade attacks right after casting spells, however, it would not have the damage immunity.
  • This weapon has a unique R2 shared with Dragon King's Cragblade, this also affects its feint animation.
    • The R2 attack is a heavy forward thrust
    • The Feint attack is similar to the standard heavy thrusting sword moveset, but it features a wider arc on the backward sweep attack
  • Good weapon against very aggressive players. Especially very good against those who repeatedly use the Rivers of Blood Ash of War.
  • While the Bloody Helice is intended to be a Dex Arcane weapon, the weapon scaling and bleed buildup is primarily affected by Arcane stat alone, meaning that a Strength Arcane build with at least 19 Dexterity can utilize both the Bloody Helice and a greatshield simultaneously, which offers high mobility and good defense.
  • Sell Value:  er runes 13 200 Runes.
  • NOTE: As of Patch 1.08, the speed of  Heavy Thrusting Swords crouching attacks has been reduced. Also the stagger caused by double-handed Heavy Thrusting Swords jumping attacks has been reduced. And finally, Poise damage has also been reduced, but only for PVP.
  • NOTE: As of Patch 1.09, the scaling values of this weapon were changed. Please refer to the Upgrades Table of this weapon below.

heavy attack should have been the move where he scrapes the sword across the ground and flings blood at you

      • Anonymous

What I usually use to beat the Great Jar champions. Block with greatshield and poke until they bleed to death.

        • Wow. Looks great. Moveset not overly flashy. A nice long poke and heavy stance damage on charged strong attack. And an awesome Ash of War with lots of i-frames and then a high stance damage thrust. I just "discovered" this weapon after hundreds of hours. While this is better as an ARC weapon, I'm a DEX guy with only 10 ARC, but add a Tear Mask and I've got a fun and effective new weapon to add to my arsenal.

Beautiful design, skill is so fun to use and cheap too. Only problem I can find is it's good against single targets and struggles against multiple enemies. But you can keep an occult weapon like a whip to deal with groups. Overall one of the most fun weapons I tried

            • Anonymous

This thing looks sick as hell, honestly an entire argument for going Arcane in and of itself for the sheer drip factor.

              • Anonymous

Gonna need a minimum four page lore explanation from the etymological rebel who was desperate to avoid the word helix, because wtf

                • Anonymous

i swear even the dagger has comments like "this is broken" "baby mode weapon". This is really a cool design and a nice weapon to use. as broken as every focused build on the game.

The fact that you don't get a unique moveset when you wield this main hand, and reduvia off hand, is the entire reason I gave Elden Ring a 9/10 instead of a 10/10.
Both weapons are freakin cool in their own right though, so still good job on Elden Ring's part.

Someone from a discord server of mine pointed out that the shape of this thing looks similar to Miquella's Needle. I actually think thats so genius when you consider the fact that this is carried by MOHG'S servants, the guy who kidnapped Miquella in the first place.

I might just be bad and that's fine, but this weapon got me salty as **** in PvP when used with swarm of flies lol

bleed build up, spammable running r2s, baby mode l2 and the longest weapon in its class? this thing is gonna be the new waterfowl when that inevitably gets renerfed into the ground, i'm calling it

Fighting the HTS weapon class is not the most fun experience in ER's PvP to be having for sure, but I gotta say this weapon looks really cool! And its AoW is extremely stylish.

So you are telling me this weapon:

-Is a somber weapon so easy to upgrade
-Is an arcane weapon with bleed, and is fast enough to apply it too
-Has an amazing moveset with I stg best feeling R2 in the game
                                  -Good range
                                  -Can stance break consistently
-It has a unique skill that is pretty versatile and useful in both PVP and PVE
-And most importantly has a badass name AND looks cool as ****

What is there not to like?

Bs ahh weapon class, makes normal trusting swords look like toothpicks, hate the build up when I actually dodge

                                    • Anonymous

Literaly best weapon in PvP, on par with double naginatas. Almost impossible to counter if in duel another player uses at least 1% of brain capasity. Undodgable, absurd status build up (dont forget about ping issue where status builds up when you not get hit) tons of i-frames, hits like a truck, fast as lightning and range of a spear. I want to thank Fromsoft for this weapon, I love seing it in every 4'th duel so much.

                                      • This in combo with a dagger having quickstep (fighting with honour; as opposed to slapping BHS on it) makes this a really fun weapon to use in a high-skill setup

                                        • Might have only prioritised this weapon on one character but damn if it ain't one of the prettiest and more satisfying weapons in this game; always tempted to use it even if my build is garbage for it.

                                          • Anonymous

Using this weapon against Malenia makes her one of the most enjoyable fights in From Soft history i swear. Just dodge, hit, stagger (it's honestly insane how effective it is to attack her mid attack because she just stops) and proc bleed. I was struggling in this last run and getting frustrated and I switched to this thing and it was all fun from that point onwards

                                            • Anonymous

The scaling seems to have changed since this was last updated. It scales E with strength, C with dex, and B with arcane

                                              • Anonymous

Slept on this weapon for way too long. Can't express how refreshing it was to use a dex/arc weapon that treated bleed procs as a bonus, rather than the focus. The AoW was also a nice shake-up to PvE. If you haven't done a run with it yet, then you're missing out.

                                                • Anonymous

this is so refreshing to pick up when you've played the game for a long time. changes the gameplay quite a bit

                                                  • Anonymous

The blood loss proc and the hit box don’t line up. In pve you’ll dodge and not take damage and still take blood loss if it’s close enough, which will stagger slightly. Then the ridiculous quickness with which users of this 14’ weapon pivot it on its axis means that the users of this weapon and those of the bolt of gransax should have a self congratulatory party together celebrating themselves despite actually doing nothing, like tories or cats.

                                                    • Anonymous

Its a complete noob crutch. If you're invading with this its ok, but if you're ganking, twink hosting, or doing arena with it, then you should not be playing with others

                                                      • Anonymous

If you like Bloodhound's Fang, you'll probably love this. The way the skill works makes it an amazing counter to attacks that don't have huge reach or swing high. You dodge the attack, and counter attacks for huge poise damage, good actually damage, and some bleed on top. An amazing weapon that is fun to use and actually effective at the same time.

                                                        • Anonymous

Such a underrated Weapon. May not the best but paired with a Shield lead to a massive utility and consistence damage without worrying much about mistakes.
For someone which always hated Dex Build because they require an aggressive playstyle its the perfect weapon to learn it. Meanwhileit carried me trough NG +2 without an issues

                                                          • Anonymous

This is my favorite weapon, and I have used it a lot. It got buffed in 1.07 when they fixed the rotation lock of the 3rd part of the ash, and indirectly nerfed when the general HTS nerfs hit. But! It's still very good.

First, it's the longest HTS. Second, it shares the wide sweep feint attack shared with dragon king's cragblade that feels easier to hit with than the one stitcher and epee have. Feints are good with HTS and often are the better choice when you're holding R2, as opposed to just doing the strong attack; unless you have a good read and you know you're going to take advantage of that lunge distance, the feint is unparriable, fast, repositions you, and sets you up for a backstep r1. Not a bread and butter move or even one you'll use all that often if you're good, but it's there and can be cleverly used.

Third, the ash. Some things to know:
                                                            - You can unlock and send the first portion of the ash (the dodge) in whatever direction you want, like a reverse backstep. Unless you exclusively want to make space, you'll catch a lot more people off guard and make them panic if you veer to the side, or send yourself into them by doing it backwards.
                                                            - Same goes for the second portion; if you are locked on when you perform the second stage of the ash (the lunge), your rotation is limited to 90deg in either direction. If your enemy is behind you, you will not turn more than 90deg, and you will shoot off to the side, becoming vulnerable. Unlocking and manually aiming the move does not have this restriction, but can take time to master. You should probably spend a lot of time figuring out how to hit people with all sorts of things when unlocked, anyway. Speed your camera up and turn off autorotation while you're at it.
-The third portion (the poke and swipe) has normal tracking, if a bit slow. It will work as expected when locked on, but may not rotate enough or quickly enough some times; this was not the case until patch 1.07, until which you were locked in whatever direction you were facing when you performed the lunge, making it useless almost all the time back then. If you are out of FP, it still works as it did before the patch, with no independent rotation. There's no reason to do that, but it's some trivia.
-The lunge into the poke and swipe is not exactly a true combo. I'm not sure if poise or hyperarmor or some other factor affects this, but don't expect to ever hit all 3. Usually the lunge and poke will connect, but the swipe miss, or vice versa. The poke and swipe often both connect if the lunge did not, however. Experiment to know when it's appropriate to use 1, 2, or all 3 parts of the ash without leaving yourself immediately vulnerable. Not everyone even knows it _has_ a third part, and you could be the one to teach them.
-The lunge moves you just about as far as the dodge, meaning if you only do the first 2 stages, you'll be right where you were when you started the dodge.
-The ash has no hyperarmor, and you're vulnerable immediately after the dodge iframes. Some weapons, like pikes and the golden halberd, are long enough to cover this distance without moving, so space accordingly.
-The ash will come out slightly faster than a dodge after a stun.
-You can use the dodge as many times as you want/can in a row and it chains quickly with no decrease in effectiveness. You never need to attack out of it at all.
-20 points in dex, as opposed to the required 19, gets you a teeny bit more ar than just dumping in arcane. This is assuming a build for 125, as dex becomes more useful for this weapon after arcane hits its softcap.

I hope this helps people with using this thing. I love this thing, but you only feel super cool with it if you know all the little tricks, which you do, now! Good luck.

In older versions of the game (I'm meaning basically launch edition - before banished knight Engvall was obtained in murkwater catacomb and you instead got the duelist hammer) I remember getting this weapon BEFORE ALTUS plateau, I think the game used to give the sanguine noble at rose church a garunteed drop of this because I had it before Altus on my first character but when I restarted after some major updates I only got it in writueblood ruins can anyone confirm???

                                                                  • Anonymous

Call it cheap, but this complements the Golden Beast Crest Shield really well.

They both use similar shades of gold.

But while the Bloody Helice has Mohg as a symbol on its handle, the Golden Beast Crest Shield is blazoned with Serosh. Serosh acting as the beast that keeps the Golden Lineage from succumbing to bloodlust.

These further combine well with Raging Wolf armor set’s gold coloring on its legs and blood red clothe.

The scummy playstyle kind of adds to the theming.

                                                                    • Anonymous

Only thing that would have made this weapon even cooler was if the blade spun like a drill during the weapon skill's follow up and charged R2's, like how Ghiza's wheel does. Honestly disappointed they didn't think of that.

                                                                      • Anonymous

Impossible to punish if there is even a bit of lag. So much iframes, and coupled with lag the punish window simply doesn't exist - either that or you always end up trading.

                                                                        • Anonymous

While it's good to have weapons with unique Ashes of War, I'd actually love this to have Blood Tax. Would fit incredibly well with the design and description of the weapon.

                                                                          • Very fun weapon, the weapon art can sometimes get you in trouble if you try to follow up during a combo, but if you know when to evade and when to combo, you can do rapid damage and bleed buildup. I enjoy pairing it with a Bloody Godskin Stitcher in the offhand, both aesthetically and because you can use Seppuku to up your bleed buildup.

                                                                            • Anonymous

This weapon should also have the "blood puddel" as part of it's move set. Seriously missed opportunity since the sanguine nobles use that attack, but now that you have their weapon you can't.

                                                                              • Anonymous

I encounter plenty of “duelist” hosts at base level using this weapon and rune arc spamming jumping R1 R1s, running R2s but otherwise playing extremely passive. This weapon is so annoying fighting at base level having this kid just keep running in circles until I get bored and attack and he just spams the broken jumping R1 R1 combo (comes out WAY too fast and has broken tracking) to 2 shot me with bleed. Elden Ring PvP is truly amazing and well balanced lmfao

                                                                                • Anonymous

In pvp this weapons WA has a too many I-frames. Everything from the wind up to the dodge to the attack are all invincible. There’s no interrupting with an attack and the lunge doesn’t miss for anything when in range. Could use some tweaking to balance it out in the arena.

                                                                                  • Anonymous

I know thrust and pierce attacks hit hard, anyone having doubts will soon be put straight after getting a taste of what Radahn soldiers using partisan and a greatshield, or even worse the dragon knights in leyndell who buff their spear with lightning can do to a high level character's HP bar. but for personal preference, I much prefer slash or strike weapons over thrusting weapons with pierce damage. I don't like the moveset.

                                                                                    • Anonymous

Really fun weapon. I don’t usually like Arcane-bleed builds, but man, this weapon is just so fun. The dodge makes it feel like something out of Bloodborne.

                                                                                      • Anonymous

Thrust attacks are probably the least resisted types of attack in the game and bleeding is almost always useful. Probably one the best weapon in the game.

                                                                                        • Anonymous

Aight so this has been my main dueling/pve weapon for a while with a DCS in the off hand and I really really enjoy this weapon for its utility, like all great thrusting swords it’s greatest strength is it’s versatility and the ability to go passive chip damage to lethal aggression in seconds if very fun and come naturally with the wide array of chip and fast mix up spells like pocket sand and catch flame. It works very well with my build and is my favorite weapon in the game is what I’m saying. However I can’t feel all that right when I use this weapon cuz of that weapon art. It’s badass, fun as ****, and if you can free aim/ untarget fighting it’s ****ing beautiful but the Iframes make me feel disgusting at points. Not duel nags with BHS levels or even the levels of the katanas and yk I understand like the pvp side everyone has something they are abusing but I want to feel erect when I use this thing not shameful so a de tune to the iframes pls cuz I love this sword, it goes hard it looks hard and goes well with my fashion and the weapon art is badass but I hate feeling cheap

So In conclusion add back chain casting

                                                                                          • Anonymous

Thrusting and bleed, the two most powerful things in the game in need of a major balance pass both rolled up into one package. People keep focusing on Rivers spammers and not the people using this "bloody" nightmare. You can tell team B AND A made Elden Ring together because thrusting weapons were absurd in Dark Souls 2 but in every game team A works on bleed is OP until it is nerfed.

This weapon is the result of that unholy union.

                                                                                            • Anonymous

Free aim seems inconsistent, sometimes the follow up thrust goes where I am aiming and sometimes it goes in the opposite direction. What’s weird is that it is functional about 80 percent of the time normally, but when I walk into the Godfrey boss room, it goes from inconsistent to consistently trash. This only happens when I try to move forwards with it and thrust forward, otherwise it works as usual
