Loretta's War Sickle is a Halberd in Elden Ring. The Loretta's War Sickle scales relatively equally with Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence, it is a good Weapon for Quality builds who also incorporate Intelligence, and enjoy the defense and utility offered by Loretta's Slash.
Intricately crafted silver war sickle wielded by Loretta, Knight of the Haligtree.
Originally given for service as a personal guard to Carian royalty, the weapon's blue glintstone has been replaced with unalloyed gold.

Elden Ring players do NOT know how to make or manage a quality build hence all the negative comments. Try 35 str, 45 dex and 45 int and you have an EXCELLENT Carian knight build and when paired with radagon icon you’ll have max speed casting as well as a fantastic weapon. Don’t underestimate this halberd.
- Anonymous
love the way it looks, except for the little decoration on the backend of it. it makes it look like a toy. don't know why this bothers me so much. love the weapon on NG+ though

all the downsides of this weapon make it look not worth using on paper but its moveset and long range alone have been a blast both pvp and pve tbh, a weapon with very awkward scaling for sure but satisfying to use despite that
- Anonymous
As much as I like this weapon, my dissapointment when I realized I couldn't cast sorceries through it like Loretta was immense. When I first fought the ghost version I was absolutely mesmerized by how well animated and badass the attack to spell casting animations for her were. Especially since I've wanted to use a casting staff/glaive hybrid in a game for a very long time.
Then I get the weapon and it can't cast sorceries despite things like the Demon Scar in DS3 previously existing. Tf From, you really couldn't have made a unique "cast equiped spell" Ash on this weapon or something to that effect? Really? Even if it was slower than a normal cast to accommodate the fact your casting staff and weapon were the same or something, I'd still use the hell out of it. Oh well, at least the moveset on its own is fun and actually pretty glaive like for once.

- Anonymous
This thing is absolutely insane in pvp. The range is great, deals high damage, and has a good ash of war that also deals high damage. Not to mention it's stance, which in addition to being fast is also really stylish and fun to use.
- Anonymous
Why did they not make this weapon a staff that could hit you? That's how the Loretta knight uses it so why can't we?
- Anonymous
Trash tier weapon. It's fun to use, but the damage is abysmal unless you're statted specifically for it. The R1 attack has an initial animation, so you will lose most trades with this weapon.
- Anonymous
Using this on my int-heavy Carian royal build and the damage is really underwhelming alongside high reqs. Wish it had better int scaling considering it is as unique as it is. The high range on it feels very hit or miss due to the amount of uppercut slashes it packs in its arsenal
- Anonymous
I think the intent for this weapon was to be another Cleanrot type weapon with higher physical stats than faith, but in this case, intelligence replaces the faith. The scaling for Dexterity on this is very high, but you can also get a reasonably strong AR with equal strength and dexterity investment with base intelligence at about Rune Level 150. I’d give it a go, this weapon seems quite fun.
- Anonymous
idk why they make somberstone weapons scale worse in their niche than normal weapons with an infusion. swordspear does more damage with int investment with the same WA for a barely noticable range loss. lorreta's has the "niche" of being an ok choice for quality builds with a bit of int investment, making it an almost passable choice for an inefficient build. not to mention that the WA in practice is janky as hell, with your blade passing through people as they wail on you while youre still floating. a disappointing result for one of the drippiest weapons in the game
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I really don't get why people rag on this weapon, It's basically a treespear with actual reach, which is amazing.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
With 80 int you need 37 str/dex to out-damage a magic Swordspear when both maxed out
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
the swordspear might get more damage, but this thing is also really friggin long unlike the swordspear
- Anonymous
Do any weapons in the other Souls games share this moveset? If I could rush this weapon, I think I might be more likely to actually play ‘em lol
- Anonymous
Sadly, at meta level, Swordspear just plain better in everything except range and looks. 3 x Poor scaling is just meh. No matter how you distribute points across Str, Dex and Int, it's damage ends around 50-70 less than Swordspear's. At best.
- Anonymous
you'll legit get more damage magic infusing a guardian swordspear with lorettas slash than using this. its a shame
- Anonymous
Wow at reading the super subjective biased edits to this page. Someone has a weird emotional vendetta against LWS, but whatever.
#1. Yes, the WA does less straight DPS than similar weapons with Sword Dance.
(Sword Dance doesn't dodge low / horizontal attacks, have super armor, or deal nearly as much poise damage)
#2. Yeah, on a straight INT build you can make the WA deal more straight damage on other weapons.
(This is not a weapon for straight INT builds. This is a weapon for level 300 characters with 99 INT, 99 DEX, and 99 STR)
(I don't even know why anyone would think this is a good argument. Woah, a straight INT weapon deals better damage on an INT build than a quality weapon? Yes, that is how it should be.)
Basically, put this in the bank until you hit SL 300+ and want to make a dexterous-muscle-wizard. It works before then, just don't expect it to outperform on a straight INT build. It's not a straight INT weapon.
So finally to summarize the **** edits before I delete them: No, it does not have worse damage than the Swordspear. NG through NG+2? Sure, throw it in the bank, there are better options. This is the end game three-way-quality weapon, not something you pick up in Limgrave. Yes, the animation rig for the character is the same as Angel's Wings. It has similar super armor qualities but LS is getting buffed because you guys are dropping the ball on recognizing a decent weapon just because there's an early game damage difference. Shame. And finally, no, this does not deal less damage than the standard version on an infused weapon unless you slap it on a specific build that's designed for that. Same as every other weapon.
Cool weapon, well designed - not many other weapons continue to scale so far for so long. It's biggest weakness is honestly that you can't get frost damage or set up any other synergistic status / proc stuff. For example, the Cold Swordspear would be the perfect weapon for a 99 INT/FAI build focused on frostbite cycling. LS also seems to increase status damage, so that works really well - but again, that's just a different build.

i dont get what everybody is upset about??? it fills a completely different need than guardian swordspear - this is a lorettas slash WA that primeraly scales with dex and upgrade level, while custom lorettas slash only scales with intelligence. It also has _superior_ range, so its a good weapon for dex users who dabble a bit with int. maybe combine it with int boosting gear if you really really want to minmax meta level. not everything needs a boost.
also fashion

kinda wish that the int scaling scaled physical damage only, like how erdsteel daggers scale physical damage with faith

Kind of sad that this beautiful weapon with a fun moveset is immediately obsolete due to Guardian's Swordspear. This is an endgame weapon, it should be much stronger and the weapon art should at least be as good as the Ash version. Sometimes you really wonder "what were they thinking?"
- Anonymous
Very odd that this doesn't double as a sorcery catalyst, it has a generic ash of war and bad damage compared to its regular counterpart the treespear so there's very little incentive to use it other than if you like the look and extra reach this provides. Dissapointing.
- Anonymous
Yeah idk man fromsoft high off their ass or some **** making some of these weapons.
- Anonymous
whats with all the super cool weapons with completely ordinary ashes of war? so disappointing
- Anonymous
Very nice looking, good magic damage on the AoW, and an actually good moveset. Too bad the boss that drops it is an absolute ******* to fight
- Anonymous
in general a good weapon, nice looks, nice damage, that ash of war catches people of guard more then you think if used correctly.
- Anonymous
Can definitely not be buffed by consumables or spells/incantations like electrify armament
- Anonymous
Oh boy another really sexy looking weapon that turns out to be very underwhelming and mediocre, despite being dropped by a late game boss in a hidden difficult secret area.
- Anonymous
wish the weapon art was a slightly unique version of the normal one, maybe granting a glintblade phalanx on a successful hit or something
- Anonymous
Such a theoretically cool weapon with an amazing look and moveset that can't really find its place. Its only benefit over the Guardian Swordspear is reach. Otherwise, Swordspear has the build variety, lower stat requirements, customizable ashes, etc.
Even on a 20/50/50 Str/Dex/Int build that Loretta is specifically built for, the Swordspear hits nearly the same AR on Magic infusion (729 vs 736). And if you shift stats to be full Int at 20/16/80, you have 4 stats leftover compared to 50/50, full access to sorceries, and slightly higher AR on the Swordspear (745; Loretta is 658 at those stats). The only way I could see Loretta winning out is a 50/50/50 build, and at that point, Swordspear might win out anyway on a physical infusion + Scholar's Armament.
I want to love this weapon, but even building specifically for it is subpar.

To everyone saying that this isn't a scythe-type weapon when it should be: it's a War Sickle, not just a regular sickle. While stylistically it looks more like a fauchard, its name isn't totally inaccurate either way.
- Anonymous
I really like the R1's on this weapon.
But I wish that it could cast Sorceries like Loretta does.
Could have been done by making L2 a stance where R1 would cast a Sorcery and R2 do Loretta's Slash. Alternatively, L2 could have just cast a Sorcery and simply make Loretta's Slash the R2 (That way you could do mounted Loretta's Slash like Loretta does)
- Anonymous
Correct me if I'm wrong but im 90% sure this has Freide's Great Scythe moveset, even the AoW is similar to Friede's Light weapon art
- Anonymous
This would be pretty dope if it combined the ash of war "glintblade phalanx" where you can cast and then jump into the swing. that or an L2 combo with some of her other moves used in the haligtree fight to help it be differentiated from the winged scythe. Love the aesthetic but i feel like this weapon is lacking by a small margin across the board.
- Anonymous
Can this really be enchanted? Even though it can only bei upgraded via somber smithing stones?
- Anonymous
Wish we could get the version before the glintstone was removed, the gold looks kinda weird if you ask me.

i think this weapon suffers from ds3 syndrome where two r1s are faster and do the same dmg as the WA
besides that i used it with a 30/30/80 build it works decently with a fun moveset but WA needs a buff
- Anonymous
Cool look, cool moveset, but the skill is a big letdown. Really wish it could be changed.
- Anonymous
Very interesting scaling, 20 STR 80 DEX and 20 INT it has an AR of 738. with 80 STR it's 693 and 80 INT it's 654. this is not an INT friendly weapon at all. it's just a DEX weapon with some magic damage attached to it. 40 STR and 40 DEX two handed gives almost the same damage as 80 DEX and it allows for other STR weapons to be tossed into your use as well. you're honestly going to get better damage out of attaching Loretta's Slash to pretty much any halberd if you want to use the WA with good returns on INT scaling.
- Anonymous
Can you really not cast spells with this? Kinda lame considering Loretta herself does so in both encounters against her. I think I'd rather have the ability to cast spells with this thing as the AoW rather than an AoW that's no different from the Winged Scythe's except it deals magic damage instead. Better yet, just give it the ability to cast spells without replacing the AoW. If a weapon is going to have only C scaling across the board at +10 then it should have other things going for it that make up for the lack-luster stat scaling.
- Anonymous
So if she replaced the glintstone in her glaive with unalloyed gold, wouldn't that by extension remove all magic damage and add holy damage? Seems a bit weird to have that bit in the description not reflect how it works mechanically
- Anonymous

I really like the fast swinging r1, I feel the ash of war is kind of lazy, it’s winged scythe but with magic and no special effect, feels a bit lazy, though I do like it gets a blue imbuement with it, the scaling damage is disappointing though, this was the weapon that made me want to switch from faith to try out int but it doesn’t seem worth it and I can’t find a very good weapon to pair with it, power stancing is way too slow feeling, a greatsword or long sword is too stiff and slow feeling, a shield can’t block as well attack even though it’s a polearm, and a faster curved sword or dagger kind of loses what makes them special, their flowing quick attacks because left hand makes them lose most of their moveset, so I don’t really know what I can do
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Trying this out on haligtree knights compared to other halberds I found out it doesn't do enough poise dmg to interrupt their attacks like other halberds do. I hope they increase the poise dmg to be at least on par with other halberds because it's such a cool weapon
- Anonymous
Shouldn't the AoW on this attack be considered a jump attack? Why doesn't it get buffed by Raptor's Black Feather Armor or Claw Talisman??? No matter how I look at it... it's clearly a jump and slash as it descends...
- Anonymous
Why oh why are there not weapon-cast tool hybrids in ER. DS3 had a catalyst sword, a pyro flame curved sword, a talisman whip... here nothing. This deserved to be a hybrid...

I only wished that this can shoot out Sorceries like Loretta, or just increase the INT scaling and it's AoW damage.
I really hope this gets Buffed soon: Buff the Art, Damage, Scaling and make it Buff Boost Loretta Sorceries!
(Alternatively make Loretta Royal Knight Set Gauntlets Buff them)
- Anonymous
C scaling across the board at +10 is garbage. Int should at least be A.
- Anonymous
People that think that this needs a buff or that it should also cast spells also think that comet azur shouldn't be stationary while firing.
- Anonymous
The odd thing is despite the Str requirement being higher than Dec, I'm still seeing slightly more AR when putting points into Dex over Str passed 20.
For example, at 40STR, 20 DEX, and 55INT, AR was 650 at +9, while with 20STR and 40 Dex it's 660.
Very minor difference, but still.
I can't believe they STILL didn't BUFF this Weapon!
Needs to have A Scaling on INT.
Better damage and physical scaling overall.
Boost Loretta's Sorceries +XX%.
Also they should fix and buff Loretta's Mastery to not hit ground and do more damage.

Here to share my experience with it in PVP after a week and a half using it, invading in Liurnia's Lake at RL 90, upgraded at +7.
TL;DR : Very fun and satisfying weapon, though very weak damage-wise and in need of a buff.
First, the moveset.
Standard R1 : Awesome defensive chain of attacks to deny close-range, and good for roll-catching. If there's any DS3 players reading, this R1 chain feels highly similar to Hollowslayer / Drakeblood GS. Don't hesitate to attack 2 or 3 times with it when your foe is right in front of you ; add a slight delay to your input to better rollcatch.
Standard R2 : Situational. Very slow and modest damage for a strong attack. I only use it to mix things up, but you have better options for that. I never fully charge it ; never worth it.
Running R1 & R2 : Your bread and butter. Any halberd players will already be aware of this. the running R1 is a rollcatching machine ; it's not rare to chain 3 or 4 of them while your foe spam away the dodge button. I often initiate the fight with a running R1, sometimes purposefully out of range just to bait the opponent and follow with a R1, allowing me next to start roll-catching to death. Careful about spamming it ; it's easily parriable. Running R2 is good for mixing up and avoid being too predictable. The range fo the R2 is insane and often catch players dodging sideways at the end of their roll. Careful ; it's even easier to parry, so act accordingly.
Jumping R1 & R2 : I barely use the R1 because of how slow it is ; the R2 is much more interesting and quite similar to the running R2, with a wide arcing slash easily catching folks dodging sideways. Don't hesitate to delay your jumping attack to the last second before landing. Not worth spamming, but still effective when mixing up your attacks.
Rolling / crouching R1 : Decent attack, quick to come out. I save this one for later in the fight when the players start to acclimate themselves to the halberd moveset and don't expect it to come out. Can't say much more ; I'm not a big fan of the "crouch" tactic ; not intuitive to me yet.
Finally, Loretta's Slash : It is an underwhelming and very inconsistent attack. This is not a garranted true combo ; on many occasions players managed to dodge the second blow despite being hit on the first one. However, I've hit the 2 hit combo many times as well. Right now, I have no idea how it truly works.
The damage on it is decent, though far from being incredible : the first attack is weaker than a R1, and the second is only about twice as strong as a R1.
Also, be warned, this attack leaves you quite vulnerable : you can still be hit during the animation despite jumping high in the air, and the recovery after the second hit is quite long. It doesn't mean this AoW is unusable. Although it is highly situational, it's decent for roll-catching panicking players, but most importantly it is quite good against agressive players coming straight toward you for a running or standard R1. Many (many, many, ...) times I caught them coming before their attack came out, landing both hits. Either use the AoW very early in the fight, or quite late ; in other words : when they expect it the least. You can re-orient partially the strike mid-air, but the tracking is still poor. At last, be aware that you will sometimes jump above the player and miss the second strike if they dodge the first one.
Overall : very good moveset with a many possibilities of mixing up and taking the opponent by surprise ; but the attacks are slow enough to be reaction-parried so avoid brainless spamming.
As said earlier, this weapon is insane for roll-catching, and all this thanks to its wonderful range. With it, you can easily outspace and punish running R1 spammer (spear, rapier, and many other thrusting attacks) with your own running attack. afterward, either chain running R1 for foes dodging backward, or chain standard R1 for punishing foes staying close to you. I've landed many times 2 or 3 R1 in a row simply because the opponent didn't respect this weapon by putting enough distance between me and them.
This weapon is awesome in 1v1 situations, and decent in 2v1, though despite what I said earlier, you will struggle against a duo or trio of overly aggresive players never releasing the pressure. You better start practicing the parry, especially since it's a dex scaling weapon and gains little to be 2-handed. You're also hindered by its high stamina consumption, preventing you from being agressive for too long. Careful when you start roll-catching with running R1, especially against multiples foes ...
About the scaling : atrocious, with very high stat requirement. I use it with base STR and INT on a dex build and side weapons with frost infusions (misericorde, great épée, Lance, Noble slender sword). The damage is disappointing, and might be amongst the weakest halberds. It would greatly benefit either a higher base damage, or a B scaling in DEX or INT. But currently, you'd do best to ignore the INT scaling.
I recommend Magic-Shrouding Cracked Tear in your flask for a decent damage boost. Green Turtle Talisman is, imho, a must-have, but I won most of my fights prior to this comment without it ; just be careful with your stamina.
Pros :
- Insane range
- Very effective and diverse moveset
- Very pretty <3
Cons :
- underwhelming damage
- Awful stats requirement & scaling
- Inconsistent ash of war
- High stamina consumption
C- tier meta-wise. But as every souls games : fashion and skill > meta
I'm remaking my post after further analysis of the weapon End Game & Post Game at +10 - comparing to the sadly superior Guardian's Swordspear:
LORETTA'S WAR SICKLE OBJECTIVELY NEEDS A BUFF:
It has worse scaling, fixed weapon art, higher weight and lower damage than a random drop weapon.
This weapon needs the following FIXES and BUFFS:
1) BOOST Loretta Sorceries! Boost Loretta's Greatbow and Loretta's Mastery Damage by +20 - 30%
2) BUFF Weapon Art Damage & Poise Damage!
3) Give Weapon Art a Follow-up!
4) Increase it's Range and Height. Make it usable from Jumps.
5) BUFF INT Scaling and increase Damage. INT Scaling should be at least B if not A !!!
Loretta was a pure Spellcaster Spellsword. One of the Best.
Scaling should have been: B - C - A or C - B - A (STR - DEX - INT)
- Anonymous
The design looks so much like Diallos's set. There's no relation though right?
- Anonymous
At about 35 STR/55 Dex/45 INT/45 FAI, this WA is outclassed in damage by the Winged Scythe WA by about 50% more damage. And they have virtually identical hitboxes and casting time. I love this weapon but this almost feels bugged. It's 3.5 lbs heavier and only takes 3 FP less to cast.
- Anonymous
Thought this would be immolation tinder 2 but was disappointed, cool moveset though
- Anonymous
Good god this thing is disgustingly good. The scaling is kinda ass, but the fact that it gets C-scaling all across the board is pretty decent. It has good base damage anyway in my own experience. That combined with how fast it is and its reach makes this surprisingly good for PVP and PVE alike. Weapon art kinda sucks though...
- Anonymous
In addition to her slash as the weapon art you should be able to use this to cast her sorceries. I aint see that hoe pull out a staff to cast. Did y'all?
- Anonymous
My favourite weapon in the game, it's just underpowered for such a late game drop. If scaling was improved + had loretta's scorcery buff it would be a nice niche weapon.
A few things to point out:
It's faster than most halberds, feels really nice to 2H and it has longer range than the spear the guardians drop. some potential there.
the Ash of war doesn't do great damage but it has very consistent poise damage which means you can use safely from range, complete the combo while staggering enemies int he AOE, then get back to safety without taking a hit if you practice. you can also loop it endlessly and it will perma stun most groups. Some potential there.
Not a meta weapon, but my fav for sure.

Guardian's Swordspear with Loretta's Slash Ash of War is literally a better Loretta's War Sickle than Loretta's War Sickle.
The damage/scaling on this weapon is so disappointing and sad... especially because the weapon looks so nice
- Anonymous
I'm like RL 220 or something with 20 Str, 72 Dex and 80 Int, and its AR is almost the same as DMGS with a faster moveset.
I LOVE this Weapon but got 3 Major Gripes with it:
1) WHY DOESN'T IT BOOSTS LORRETA SORCERIES? This should Buff Lorreta Greatbow and Loretta Mastery by 20~30%
2) Weapon Art needs a Follow-up and more Damage. Something to Buff it, maybe some Iframes.
3) The Gem in the Pommel is Red lol, why not Blue lol.
- Anonymous
They need to buff the scaling for this amazing yet underperforming weapon
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
for a late game weapon the scaling is terrible hope they'll buff it
- Anonymous
Pretty solid weapon, I generally liked it for the brief time I used it. I do agree the Ash of War could use a bit of a buff in damage, but otherwise its really solid.
- Anonymous
I'm going to use this weapon, with INT STR DEX 80 30 30 It's freaking awesome. I only have 3 Key issues with it: 1) HUGE MISSED OPPORTUNITY: This halberd should have BOOSTED LORETTA SORCERIES : It should have given Buff for Loretta a Greatbow and Mastery !!! As no item in the game boosts Loretta spells, not even her set! ;( 2) INT Scaling should have been B or A when upgraded !! 3) As others mentioned, being able to cast spells from it would've been nice. 4) I feel like Loretta Slash Art needs a Follow-up. I hope the a Developers Buff this to at least Boost Loretta Spells and Buff Scaling!
- Anonymous
my main gripe is that the gem on the bottom end is red. why is it red??
- Anonymous
Devasted to discover they gave the guardian swordspear moveset to another lovely weapon not-conducive to my build. It’s a great moveset! Put it on the skinnier dex-er halberds like the pest glaive and the vulgar shotel!
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I really like this weapon, to be honest. The damage (755 AR on 25STR, 59DEX, 43INT) is pretty good, the moveset is great (Running poke, long range on R1s) and it's really fashionable. The only thing this weapon needs is a major buff to the Weapon Art. It's slow, takes a ton of FP, deals hardly any damage and doesn't even combo. It's literally more efficient to just use the R1 than the Weapon Art at the moment.
I think the ability to cast sorceries would also be a really good ability if you two hand it. Would make the weapon feel really unique, but I think the spells should be weaker/slower if it does since every quality/dex mage will want to use it.

Banished Knight's Halberd has better scaling when infused with loretta's slash and you get frost damage to boot. Weighs a bit less too. Loretta's has more physical damage, but it's such a shame really, since I prefer to use 'unique' weapons; in this case there's really no reason to.

Man I wish this could of been used to cast sorceries, would of made this a lot more desirable.

This weapons ash of war could use a buff, it does about as much damage as 2 light swings and takes about twice as long, it also doesn't have as much range as the energy blade would suggest.

The very problem of this weapon is:
In the fight against Loretta, she literally uses Sorceries. As the bottom of the weapon like a staff.
And we can't. For no reason.
If we could use this weapon as a Heavy Int Build (like I have 1500 Health and uses a Crucible Armor while keep being a mage with 70 Int), that, being two-handed, would help a lot to cast slow spells with poise bonus, THEN fighting Loretta and farming this would be really pleasurable.

This weapon is absolutely beautiful and hits hard too, I would recommend having a shorter weapon to swap to in tight spaces like the catacomb areas. For my str/int build I’ve gone with the rosus axe and the combo is a lot of fun

A cool looking weapon with a fun moveset & anime AF Weapon Skill, brought down by its awkward scaling. At max upgrades it has C scaling across the board, with the Int portion of it having the lowest tier of C scaling compared to the Str and Dex portion of it.
It's meant to be a weapon for a battlemage (like Loretta herself), but emphasizing a Quality/Int spread, with bigger emphasis on the Quality side than the Int side. So if your build tends towards that, you might like this weapon. Realistically though, Quality + Int is a very awkward stat spread, sacrificing a lot of the damage softcaps that other builds can reach much earlier and only gaining real traction at much higher levels, like 200+.
If you're absolutely in love with the moveset and Skill, you can obtain this setup with the Guardian Swordspear + Loretta's Slash AoW (which you get much earlier in the game), with an arguably much better stat spread too.

The Ash of War is the EXACT SAME as the Winged Scythes, except it doesn't block flask of tears.

The C scaling is different for each of its stats it seems. Dex scaled the best, then STR, and only last INT. My favorite looking weapon with a fun moveset, but I'm afraid the Guardian Swordspear is better, whether you intend to play INT/DEX or Quality. Loretta's Slash is fine, but a bit underwhelming compared to many other ashes of war, damage-wise.
My biggest disappointment is in its low poise-damage overall. In my opinion : Fine when exploring, weak when fighting bosses. Haven't tested it in PvP yet.

Alot of people praising the moveset apparently have never used this thing in uneven ground, or near a wall. The uppercut-nature of the normals catches on things on the floor very easily, and compared to the attacks of the other halberds have much greater chance to bounce off walls because of the horizontal element of the swipes. Some people mention its horizontal reach being good for fliers, but the Cross Naginata similarly starts with a vertical downwards slash with great upper reach, is much lighter and comes with innate bleed buildup. The weapon balancing in Elden Ring is very poor, and this weapon is unfortunately another victim of it.

This weapon is basically an inferior quality version of a magic-ashes Swordspear. Its heavier, not particularly more damaging, same moveset and characteristics... Loretta's Slash is where the weapon really is let down. It just doesn't do enough for how much FP it costs, and especially how much time is taken to execute the weapon art. There's better options for all builds in the Swordspear. INT-heavy builds are much better off with Hoarfrost Stomp, a cold infusion, or Royal Knight's Resolve. Its hard to beat Seppuku and bloody slash for Arc/bleed builds. Lion's Claw and Impaling Thrust are superior for non-casters.
Can anyone tell me why this doesn't cause armored enemies to flich, like all other halberds? Same with the guardian swordspear, is it because of the moveset?
