How to use this weapon properly is to get 2 max lvl friends to use it with u in lvl 30 bracket and ur friends give u infinite sleep grease for u and ur friends to put on it. Then use taunted tongue in murkwater cave to eviscerate invaders.

This weapon is why you should always have clarifying horn charm +1 in your inventory, most people who still use this are not very good as players with skill find it boring. So just make sure you have high focus and don’t just run keep pressure on them as they will win if you keep running trying to avoid the sleep proc.

I had one guy sleep me in three phantom hits, and then combo me from 0 to death (I had 60 vigor and heavyish armor). TBF I didn't have the sleep resist, but still, crazy.

On it's own, this weapon is fine. The fact sleep grease scales with this is not fine. For those who don't know why sleep is OP, it causes build up even if you dodge through it. When you get afflicted, you're stuck in place for 2 seconds, even if you properly dodged the attack. Which equals 1 or 2 free hits for your opponent

This thing, as well as the Ripple Blade, make pretty effective use of Poison Armament. The Poison buildup from Poison Armement gets boosted by the Arcane scaling and ends up being superior to regular Poison Grease, but weaker than the Drawstring version.

At 45 Arcane at +25 these are the buildup values;
Poison Grease; 177 Poison Buildup
Drawstring Poison Grease; 225 Poison Buildup
Poison Armament; 197 Poison Buildup

The nice thing is that you don't need to craft anything with Poison Armament.

I just had the strangest stroke of luck. I was getting the painter ghost behind Caria Manor, encountered an Albinauric with this thing in the graveyard, thought to myself "hey maybe I should go farm for that halberd, it's not useful for me but I'd like to see it." And then immediately got the halberd. I'm not even running an Arcane build I was just curious.

If you do the rune farm except instead of killing those downhill from the palace approach road grace kill all those in the blood-filled lake as well (not the one that summons the giant skeleton, leave that f**ker alone) without anything to boost discovery you'll get a load of these things. I've been selling them to the merchants for bonus runes from the farm runs.

Whenever a weapon has arcane scaling, it not only increases the damage, but also any status effect build-up on it. This and the ripple crescent axe are the only (I think) arcane scaling weapons that can be buffed.


HOWEVER, spell buffs like bloodflame blade don't seem to function properly on them as it took about as long for me to bleed the mad troll outside volcano manor with this on 55 ARC as it did for me to bleed him with a banished knight halberd. Blood grease worked significantly better. So basically this is the ideal weapon for a melee arcane build that relies on greases instead of innate build-up but avoid using bloodflame blade, poison armament, frozen armament, etc. until they fix their functionality with this.

As the pages for weapon buffs note, weapon buffs ONLY take into account your Seal's faith scaling. You'd be better off with one that scales only with faith rather than the Dragon Communion Seal, no matter how high your arcane stat.

I'm curious who figured out the "2%" drop rate and how. Because I've been farming for hours. I've killed over 300 of the halberd wielding albinaurics with 120 item find. A bit of quick maths suggests I'd have about a 99.8% chance of having found at least one by now at just 100 item find. I'm pretty bitter right about now...

Hilarious weapon with greases, and ChasetheBro recently showcased how good it could be. I finally crash-tested this yesterday for great results -- and not only is the high status build alone good, but it also meshes with the Pulley Crossbow in the offhand for a full-on status build. Rot people, sleep them, bleed them, so many options -- Black Key bolts with a Rot Grease will rot people in a single barrage, Bleed grease and Barbed Bolts will deal over 60% of the bleed bar. The halb itself is still the main source of damage, don't spam the crossbow -- just having sleep grease on and poking deals over 40% of the sleep bar plus damage, while the crossbow can be partially poised and doesn't take advantage of phantom hits as well.

Drops fairly quickly near the Moghwyn Entrance grace. Just past the shoreline, there is a tree with half a dozen or so enemies carrying this halberd. Took me 20 minutes or so of farming for it to drop.

So, I’ve been helping folks out with Godskin Duo and powerstanced these are like pseudo-Seppuku halberds. Two L1 attacks would trigger bleed. I think powerstance Seppuku bleed weapons are obviously better.

But if you REALLY want to use arcane greases or the flexibility of buffing your weapons with high arcane, these are your weapons.

there is an effect that is unique to these "ripple weapons":

they are enchantable. this means that despite their high arcane scaling, they can still utilize bloodflame blade, as well as the greases (i.e. blood,rot, soporific grease).

so, while their AR is mid-range, they get insane benefits for other status effects that scale with arcane, to the point where you may overly rely on them.

Weapons like this and Regalia of Eochaid make it possible to consistently damage enemies and bosses that suffer no status ailments, such as specter, gargoyle, and golem bosses.

Also Crucible knights don't bleed.

So, I’ve changed my tune on these. Are there better halberds? Probably and definitely. However, these do happen to have a niche for arcane casters to squeeze out a few more stat points if they’re going for a certain level.


It would be a non-bleed arcane build which is generally not meta, but in PvE, powerstancing these deals solid damage and the jumping R2 has some stagger power. Since Spinning Slash is kinda underwhelming and having no STR scaling means there’s no real reason to 2H it means using a buckler or using Golden Parry/Carian Retaliation are great options. Being a halberd, it has great reach. Keeping a catalyst in one hand, I like to cast Swarm of Flies on an enemy, then follow after it a jumping powerstance L1. Because of the high arcane stats with Dragon Communion Seal, the bleed is triggered quickly (at 63 arcane it was taking 4 hits of the cloud to proc it) and then you come slamming in with the halberds. I can one shot enemies in Farum at RL 125 because of this.


It’s a slower style compared to powerstance dual seppuku weapons, but it’s safer as you have good reach, ranged bleed spell, and feel less punished to use a shield to address situations. Not dedicating as many points to STR/DEX like other weapons means a little more to INT/FTH.


One downside: for buffing, you’ll need to use a different catalyst outside Albinauric and Dragon Communion. But otherwise, you can reach solid AR from elemental buffs due to scorpion charms and tears.


So, it can be surprisingly versatile as other occult halberd/scythes either require some quality to work or locks you into a non-buffable bleed.


While not meta, it definitely stands on its own with the right build.

This weapon seems to be bugged, I have 99 arcane for farming, the status windows shows this at +24 has 55 more damage than the ripple blade at +25, but when hitting enemies the ripple blade still does around 100 extra damage per hit in comparison using the same setup.

Just a heads up, the value of this weapon isn't in its standard attack rating. It does low damage on its own. It's valuable because it's S-tier Arcane scaling *that can be enchanted*. You can stack Bloodflame Blade on this.

...and the downside to that is that the Arcane-scaling seals are still bugged (as of 1.03) to not account for Arcane and only account for Faith, so you don't really see any bonus from that. But once they fix that bug, max arcane, slap Bloodflame Blade on this for buffed up bleed and an extra ~150 fire damage, and you've got a pretty rad weapon.

I recommend farming this near the Fallen Ruins of the Lake Grace, to the right there's a bullet shaped ruin with three albinaurics wielding this. Two are sitting at the bottom, and one is up the ruin. Super fast and efficient farm, took me 5 minutes with 240 disco.

The low base damage for this and the ripple blade make me hesitant to use these even with S scaling in arcane, along with no ashes of war, even if they can still be enchanted. Very easy to farm in Mohgs area. Huge numbers of Albs in the blood ponds which dropped them reasonably often with 150 discovery. Hard sell without ashes though, even with S arcane.

After some testing; you can put Bloodflame Blade on this weapon, but it barely causes any bleed build-up. (12 Faith/80 Arcane)
I'm out of larval tears if anyone wants to test high Faith to see if it effects the bleed build-up.

Just target farmed this. Running gate town is for the birds. There's a site of grace currently not on Fextralife's map in one of the ruins between the rose church and the gate town waypoint. The other ruin on this route, slightly further east, has 3 of the appropriate creatures. A full loop on Torrent takes less than 60 seconds. That being said, at ~300 souls a run, I still hit 40k souls before it dropped. It's rare. Really rare. Ran this at 15 arcane at the time.

This drops from the bloated turtle looking guys in the Liurnia swamp, took me about 15 kills to get.

Early in the game, it's a very odd weapon. There is no scaling except for arcane which starts at a B, and the base damage is similar to a dagger. I suspect the scaling will be S which would make this an excellent weapon if it can outscale the terrible base damage.

For early (level ~50) arcane builds, I would recommend Vulgar Militia Saw with occult from Spectral Lance. Innate bleed buildup, good base damage, and decent scaling.
