Yeah people are undervaluing the sealed tunnel miners, literally pull all 6 and use one redmane flame art to wipe out all 6 with 1 shot
very first room next to grace
- Anonymous
Miners walking around in sealed tunnel drop them. Average 1 per run of the miners. Don't have to go past the 2nd hidden wall, run in, kill the 6 miners and 1 imp under the stairs, head to grace and reset
- Anonymous
Do not farm the Leyndell soldiers, the chance is almost 0, i killed dozens and did not get any. Sealed tunnel mine has some, the miners drop maybe 1/20 chance.
- Anonymous
There is one in the shack at the entrance to ruin-strewn precipice and also one more where you need to jump off onto the ledge during the first elevator you come across.
- Anonymous
Yura gives you one if you talk to him in the Academy of Raya Lucaria, after helping him kill Ravenmount Assassin.

It is handy knowing where to find the stones, but including some farming spots would be good as well. I only learned about the miners in sealed tunnel from the comments, not the page itself.
Also can be dropped by the miners in the Old Altus Tunnel. Got some with 31 arcane total as of june 23 2022.

big thank you to everyone who recommended farming for no.5 stones by killing the miners in the first area after the grace in sealed tunnel. I was starting to get concerned From Software had messed around with the miner's drop in one of the patches, its not exactly unheard of. I was only getting poison stones and pick axes. then it was as if RNGesus had flipped a switch, I started getting at least one on every run. I'm still getting the pick axes but I can easily sell them.

Someone mentions the blue spirit imps that spawn around mirage rise dropping these, do they keep on spawning if you have solved the tower's puzzle and got the rewards? someone else mentions a statue in caelid as well, I assume this is a statue you have to try and bait a strong enemy into breaking before you can loot the smithing stones. Is the statue near a shallow lake in dragonbarrow with two unnamed dragons?

"Rare drop from Soldiers near first Mt. Gelmir Campsite Site of Grace"
Doubting this is still the case in 1.05. So far, they just drop 3's and the mad pumpkin head drops 4's.

Some comments mention these dropping from the golems, but as far as I can remember I don't think I ever got a smithing stone from a single one of them, and I've killed a lot of these enemies. I used them as practise early game to get a feeling for rolling through or away from attacks by large and powerful enemies that could kill me in one hit, learning to stay alive long enough to slowly but surely whittle big health bars down to nothing, and for learning to not panic, to stay calm and not make stupid mistakes that would allow them to do for me in one hit. The point is I've been killing golems from limgrave to altus plateau and like I said, don't remember ever getting a smithing stone, I've had a lot of halberds and greatbows drop but that's all. So what sort of discovery rate does it take for golems to drop smithing stones?
- Anonymous
At the very least, list where you can find them chronologically. Going from Raya Lucaria to Altus Plateau is just strange.
- Anonymous
One nice and fast way I found is to get a fire spell or a ranged weapon with some fire projectile, and run down the tunnel from the grace and throw fire at the barrels in the small shack with a miner that can drop smithing stone 5.

There is also a smithing stone 5 in the ruin strewn precipice.

Can we please organize the located section to have separate dropped and found sections instead of having a disorganized mix of the two?

Drops from the iron golems to. Just got one from the one from the warping chest in weeping peninsula
- Anonymous
Just got a Smithing Stone 5 from the archer guard at dectus. Was farming them for arrows but just got one.
- Anonymous
Easily farmable from the miners in the sealed tunnel. Just kill the first few (in the room with the miners bell bearing 2 chest) and run back to the grace.
- Anonymous
There's a Smithing Stone 5 near the Ravine-Veiled Village site of grace.

Dropped by the blue imps around Mirage Rise. They respawn for a bit and then stop. Idk if they start respawning again somehow.

Anybody wishing to farm these, with 9 luck and no buffs i frequently found smithing stones 4,5, and 6 from the mausoleum knights in Deeproot Depths. However if the mausoleum is brought down the knights will no longer spawn.

Hey, for those interested, since the 1.03, the smithing stones drops are largely better. So for the Smithing Stones (5), you can farm it in the first area of the Sealed Tunnel, in Atlus Plateau, south from Leyndell. Just grab a chicken wing or even a pure arcane build (for luck) and farm the 5 diggers in the first room and rest at the site of grace. Rince and repeat. I sometimes get 2 in a run. And yes I know you can buy them matter but... Yup.
- BikiniKiwi on Reddit
Yes, it works! Just farmed a bunch myself.

The soldiers all along the roads in atlas plateau seem to drop mostly 5's with variation of lower ones as well. I just rode north by where brother Cohwlan (sp) moves when he leaves round table.

There are actually 6 smithing stone level 5 in the altus tunnel
Sellia Crystal Tunnel does NOT have 8 of these; that's regular tier 5 Smithing stones.

You can farm for these in Sealed Tunnel in Altus Plateau because of the patch. with a silver scarab that a co-op friend gave me, it was about 1 in every 4 runs that i was getting a stone (5).

On 1.03 the price at Roundtable has not updated for me (PS5). Still 4800.
imp shade in Sainted Hero's Grave have about a 1 in 42 chance of dropping smithing stone [5]. Tested with a set of 8 21 times = 168 imps and I got 4 shards(, ended on a shard if that matters).
- Anonymous
You can farm these from the soldiers right by the First Mt. Gelmir Campsite site of grace

Farmable Smithing Stone [5]:
South of Bower of Bounty grace (Altus Plateau),
Imp Shades spawn infinitely and replace when killed (i'm not sure if it is bug or as intended), drop rate is low, but easily repeatable.

How do you use these stones at the table of lost grace smith?

There's a Smithing Stone [5] on a corpse at the south east most tower of Redmane Castle in Caelid
- Anonymous
theres a smithing stone 5 on a corpse in the first room on the left after going down the first ladder that leeds down in the Caelid castle on the lower right side of the map

There are no Smithing Stone 5 in the Wyndham Catacombs or the Ruins nearby. I spent 45 minutes scouring the place and not one was found.
- Anonymous
Found one in a statue south of the pond with 2 dragons located in caelid southeast of deep siofra well on the cliff. Dragon is needed to break statue
- Anonymous
There's 3 in one of those statues if you head west from Fort Faroth, you can use a dragon to break it

I killed several dozen Leyndell Soldiers (not knights) and never found a single Smithing Stone 5. Either they are incredibly rare and not worth grinding for at all, or they do not drop them.

If you wanna buy these you can get it at the Zamor ruins in the hilltops of the giants

Can farm at First Mt. Gelmir Campsite, there are a bunch of preoccupied Leyndell Soldiers
- Anonymous
I've been farming these for a couple hours today at First Mt Gelmir Campsite. About 20 soldiers in the nearby fortification and none of them even look up from what they're doing so you can rice around on Torrent and farm to your hearts content. Seem to be roughly 15% chance of Smithing Stone 1, 10% chance of Smithing Stone 4, and around a 5% chance of Smithing Stone 5.
- Anonymous
One dropped from a soldier at the entrance of the Seethewater Cave after entering the cave using a Stonesword Key. I tried to farm more but only Smithing Stone (01) dropped after killing 10 or more soldiers.
- Anonymous
I farm these off the soldiers with shields and spears who patrol southwest of the Road of Inquity Side Path

the smithing stone miners bell bearing [3] which allows you to buy smithing stones 5 and 6 can be found in a chest down some underground stairs in the zamor ruins in the mountaintops of the giants
- Anonymous
These can be bought from Twins at Roundtable if you bring them Smithing Stone - Miner Bearing Bell [3]. However, this item is located closer to lategame, in Mountains of Giants (gain access after Capital), soon after you go up using Grad Lift of Rold, and meet first Zamor warrior. The item is a bit further from there, you gotta sneak past bunch of Zamor warriors and get into the basement, it will be in a chest, behind the door.

6 can be found in the Altus Tunnel in Altus Plateau, Altus Tunnel can be found in the center of the region just south of the minor erd tree.
- Anonymous
I can confirm that both golems on the Great Lift of Dectus can drop smithing stones 5.
Somehow the drop rate seems to be better when targeting the body, not the legs.
- Anonymous
The giant golems on top of the Great Lift of Dectus can drop them.
But seem to be rare and not sure if both drop them, or only the one with the bow.
Might be worth to try and farm, since a grace is nearby and they also give 1,7k runes each
- Anonymous
they can also be found in Sellia Crystal tunnel. a bit further north of the of Aeonia Swamp

I don't want to learn how to edit the wiki right now BUT there are also a bunch in Sellia Crystal Caves, here:

I didn't keep count but it was like 5 or 6 I think
- Anonymous
3-5 can be found in the North-East corner of the map in a cave called the Sellia Crystal Tunnels
- Anonymous
Found 7 inside the Old Altus Tunnel. its in the canyon bit of Altus Plateau, directly west of the Bower of Bounty site of grace
There's also one in the shack in the ravine just before the Ruin-Strewn Precipice
