Altus Plateau is a Location in Elden Ring. The Altus Plateau region can be accessed either by:
- The Grand Lift of Dectus
- The Ruin-Strewn Precipice (after making your way through the Ravine-veiled Village, the Miner's Caves and Ruin-Strewn Precipice and defeating the Magma Wyrm)
- A third, secret route can be utilized to reach the Altus Plateau region by being intentionally swallowed and killed by the Abductor Virgin at the bottom of the Raya Lucaria waterwheel. Doing so will take you to an area in the Volcano Manor where the Altus Plateau can be reached after the Abductor Virgins boss fight.

I've discovered, or found a widely unknown, fourth way to get the Atlas Plateau that isn't listed here.
By using the Deeproot Depths teleporter (which can be accessed after beating Radahn and one other shardbearer) you will end up in Lyndell, Royal Capital. You can then go back to where the Dragonic Tree Sentinel waits and jump off the left side of the Capital Rampart bridge to gain full access to the capital without using the other 3 methods.

There is a fourth way not mentioned on this page. At the end of Deeproot Depths, there is a portal that takes you to Leyndell. I believe you can make your way out and get to Altus Plateau.

I feel like everyone should go through the ruin strewn precipice atleast once to reach altus. It's one of the best unique dungeons and reaching the top is so awe-inspiring. One of my favorite moments in this game.

This is missing the Auriza side tomb, It's not obvious that the dungeon is there but its in the same area as Auriza Hero's Grave, Its sort of opposite and slightly to the right. I'd recommend using stealth to not agro the lesser rune bear, but there is one of those statutes that need to be broken open by strong enemies for whats inside them.

I've had access to Altus Plateau for a while now and I've noticed there are always a lot of bloodstains starting from south of the bridge of iniquity on the path to shaded castle to just underneath it before you see the castle properly. I've been back here for the shaded castle at night and in daytime and haven't seen any enemy at all on this path to the castle never mind something powerful enough to leave this many bloodstains of players dying to it. I've only ever seen the odd sheep here and there but I know none of them are strong decoys that drop a larval tear because I kill them for thin bones. There are usually one or two messages here as well, along the lines of "enemy ahead therefore time for summoning" and "ranged battle required ahead" It's not going to be players dying from falling fighting the Iron Virgins after crossing the bridge of iniquity otherwise the bloodstains would be where they fell off the cliff, these are bloodstains of players being killed by something, obviously you can't tell what it was that killed them. Anyone have any ideas? I'm curious as to what it is and why I haven't seen it.

According to Mirriam Webster a plateau is "a usually extensive land area having a relatively level surface raised sharply above adjacent land on at least one side."
This is like a maze of dead ends while sprinting past endless enemies on your goat with a horses tail.
Worse than the Reach in Skyrim.

Going through the Plateau atm; way over-leveled unfortunately. For anyone doing Ranni's questline, I'd suggest maybe going to the Plateau right after Caelid before continuing her quest.

i don't know if it's from an update or it's always been the case, but the trolls/giants pulling the carriage/hearse can break free from it and destroy it. resting at a grace bonfire will bring it back with an empty cargo area. quitting and reloading will put the chest back. it's the one with the "great stars" hammer that i found this to be the case on.

Once you enter Volcano manor through getting transported you will not be able to fast travel out. You'll have to face 2 abductor virgins. I wasn't strong enough to face them so I had to make a new game cause I couldn't get out. Super pissed about this

you can use the grand lift of dectus with the two medallions to get here
or you can let the iron maiden thing at the bottom of the waterwheel in raya lucaria eat you and teleport you to the lava area and fight the boss there thats the two iron maidens and youll gain access through there

Maybe I'm an outlier, but a giant red disclaimer should be at the top of this page warning of game state changes. There's so many arbitrary state and quest/dialogue termination points in this game, might as well remind people of them when possible.
