Effigy of the Martyr |
---|
![]() |
Enables the ability to join summoning |
Effigies of the Martyr (also called "Summoning Pools") are statues usually found in sub-areas to make it easier to place and find summon signs for cooperative or competitive multiplayer. When you use the Small Golden Effigy (cooperative) or Small Red Effigy (competitive), your summon sign will automatically be placed at all Effigies of the Martyr you've activated within the current region or legacy dungeon. They are typically found near Sites of Grace, especially graces at the start of mini-dungeons and legacy dungeons, as well as near notable area boss encounters.
Effigies of the Martyr allow players looking for multiplayer to be summoned more often and in a wider variety of locations. Since the Small Effigy items can be activated anywhere, they also allow players more freedom in single-player adventuring without having to return to a specific location to re-place their summon sign after each summon. However, crossing region boundaries or entering boss rooms will still cancel Effigy summon signs.
Other useful statues found throughout the Lands Between include Stakes of Marika and Rebirth Monuments.
Note: There's currently no way to disable an Effigy of the Martyr once it's enabled, so choose which you enable wisely. If there's a particular dungeon you don't care for, don't activate its Effigy! If you only want to help out with the boss of a legacy dungeon, only activate the Effigy nearest to that boss (or just place a single summon sign with Tarnished's Furled Finger).

Cope all you want about a "healthy playerbase" the summoning system is why me and my friends use seamless co op, I'm so glad that mod exists lol.

I feel like these would've been a lot better if they were just baked into sites of grace. Have some menu option the host activates at the grace to show signs. This would solve a few issues:
1. People wouldn't need to go around hunting for these, just activate the grace.
2. Hosts get more areas to summon you in instead of the the weirdly arbitrary locations they're in now.
3. We already have a list of graces on the map screen so let us toggle which ones we want to send our sign to on there. You could even have it send them to all graces in a given area with a top-level "area" toggle.
Obviously some graces wouldn't have this like roundtable and post-boss graces, but they can just be built in as well.

I really liked the fact that they added this feature to Elden Ring, as it makes getting into co-op sessions that much easier when you don't want to choose just one location among many others (especially after the one patch that added the feature to be summoned in every region, not just the one you're currently at).
That being said: maaaan, it definitely could use some improvements:
1) More summoning pools at better locations (why is there a summoning pool at the bottom of Nokron City, but NOT one inside of some of the dungeons?)
2) A glow effect to indicate an effigy has been activated.
3) The option to disable pools if you don't want to be summoned in a specific area (no, I don't want to be summoned in yet another Radahn fight where the low vigor host gets one-shot by the first arrow...again...for the third time in a row).

There is a missing effigy in Upper Siofra River. Only 4 are listed by there is a 5th at the start of the bridge after the mimic tear. Even though the wiki says mimic tear it actually refers to the first effigy. This needs to be fixed. Also there doesn’t seem to be an effigy at Forth Faroth as well.

I think once the "Boss" of that effigy area is killed you cant see any signs anymore. Is this correct?

For Stormveil Castle there is also one through the north door next to the Rampart Tower site of grace.

Would be nice if there was some way to deactivate a couple summoning pools

For the love of god, please let us buy an item that unlock all the summoning pools. I don't care if it's ultra expensive, or even a rare item needed, it's just trash when you want to have fun and help people all over the map.

For the one labeled "Albinauric Rise", the interactive map and description seems to be slightly off. If you go NorthEast from the "Inner Consecrated Snowfield" site of grace, you'll see it on a tiny hill on the edge of the frozen river on your right side (and possibly a giant crab a small ways off in the distance). Looking at your in-game map, it will be closer to the ICS grace than the actual Albinauric Rise tower.

There's one near snow valley ruins overlook as well, it's on a cliff facing Castle Sol a bit to the west from the site of grace

Btw: The effigy for the draconic tree sentinel in front of the capital gets removed after defeating Maliketh...

Theres an effigy in front of the witchbane ruins, weeping peninsula.
The choices of where these are put in the overworld is beyond me. Theres absolutely nothing there. But putting down an effigy near nights cavalry or deathbirds, bell bearing hunters? Nah.

There is one more in Stormveil Castle, by the Rampart Tower site.

If these dont carry over in ng+ soon, i will lose the rest Miyazaki left of my mind.

These should have been more visible. A small, gray statue about waist high is not something I can easily see while running from giant monsters. Why not make them glow golden yellow?

Anyone know what the writing on the back of the statue means?

There is an Effigy statue in the Mountain Top of the Giants near where the Death Rite Bird spawns. Not mentioned in the above article. Makes me wonder how many other Effigy Statues are not listed.!
They really should make this glowing, or bigger, or both.
They're way too easy to miss.
Maybe have them glow whenever you use the Furlcalling Finger Remedy.

EFFIGY OF THE MARTYR: SELLIA GATE has wrong place, it should be 'outside the Sellia Town gate' instead of being very near O'Neil

Effigies not registered in the interactive map: one in Stormveil Castle (Rampart Tower), one in the Divine Tower of Caelid, one in the Redmane Castle (not Radahn), one before the minor erdtree in the outer wall of the capital, one for the great wyrm Theodorix (in the snowfield, between the central site of grace and the cave of the forlorn).
Effigies easy to miss: the one south of Iji (for the ruins), one for the dragon Smarag, one for the Martyr ruins (west of Goldmask), one in the sewer below the capital (after the crayfishes), one in the bottom of the Volcano Manor at the site of grace where you open the door to have access to lava (don't know the name in english) and surely others that I don't remember.

Is there a way to remove oneself from a specific martyr effigy? I like to help but hosts dying to sentinel/dragon at 10% is starting to piss me off.
Effigies of the Martyr shouldn't be considered as a Location.

There's another one on the Weeping Peninsula. After the Earthbore Cave grace, follow the path to the right a short ways (beware the falling floor in front of the chest).

Why don’t they just stay marked or glowing. The first one is easy to find. After that many are in hidden spots. Plus leave them marked on the map after they are found
