Effigy of the Martyr

martyr effigy

Enables the ability to join summoning
pools in the sub-area using the
Small Golden Effigy

Effigies of the Martyr (also called "Summoning Pools") are statues usually found in sub-areas to make it easier to place and find summon signs for cooperative or competitive multiplayer. When you use the Small Golden Effigy (cooperative) or Small Red Effigy (competitive), your summon sign will automatically be placed at all Effigies of the Martyr you've activated within the current region or legacy dungeon. They are typically found near Sites of Grace, especially graces at the start of mini-dungeons and legacy dungeons, as well as near notable area boss encounters.

Effigies of the Martyr allow players looking for multiplayer to be summoned more often and in a wider variety of locations. Since the Small Effigy items can be activated anywhere, they also allow players more freedom in single-player adventuring without having to return to a specific location to re-place their summon sign after each summon. However, crossing region boundaries or entering boss rooms will still cancel Effigy summon signs.

Other useful statues found throughout the Lands Between include Stakes of Marika and Rebirth Monuments.

Note: There's currently no way to disable an Effigy of the Martyr once it's enabled, so choose which you enable wisely. If there's a particular dungeon you don't care for, don't activate its Effigy! If you only want to help out with the boss of a legacy dungeon, only activate the Effigy nearest to that boss (or just place a single summon sign with Tarnished's Furled Finger).

All Effigy of the Martyr Locations

The exact boundaries of each zone within a given region are listed where they're known, but some require additional research to determine their exact extents.

In the northwest, this zone ends at the point where the Limgrave map ends and the Liurnia map begins and at the entrance to Margit's boss room in Stormveil Castle. In the south, it ends on the bridge to the Weeping Peninsula. The eastern boundary is the point where the ground ceases to be grassy.

Stormveil Castle

This zone covers the full Stormveil Castle legacy dungeon, from the end of Margit's boss room to the exit to Liurnia.

Weeping Peninsula

This zone's sole boundary is the middle of the bridge to Limgrave.

Liurnia of the Lakes

In the north, this zone ends at the entrance to the Ruin-Strewn Precipice. Although it does include the northwestern minor Erdtree, it does not include the hill above that with the Frenzied Flame Village or the hill to the west with the East Raya Lucaria Gate site of grace. The zone boundary on the hill from the northern ravine is the door into Bellum Church. To the south, the zone ends at the entrance to Stormveil Castle and on the side path at the point where the Liurnia map ends and the Limgrave map begins.

Raya Lucaria Academy

This zone covers the full Raya Lucaria Academy legacy dungeon.

Ruin-Strewn Precipice

This zone contains only the Ruin-Strewn Precipice dungeon, from the beginning of the mines above Ravine-Veiled Village to the Makar boss arena.

Mt. Gelmir

This zone's eastern boundaries are the end of the Seethewater River canyon and the Bridge of Iniquity. It also ends at the front door to Volcano Manor and the entrance to the Abductor Virgins boss arena.

Volcano Manor

This zone covers the full Volcano Manor legacy dungeon, including the area containing the Subterranean Inquisition Chamber Site of Grace (even though it doesn't contain a summoning pool).

Leyndell, Royal Capital

This zone covers the entire surface-level area of Leyndell as well as the upper-level sewers, until the ladder down to the Underground Roadside Site of Grace.

Subterranean Shunning-Grounds

This zone begins in the road outside the Underground Roadside Site of Grace and covers the entire area below it.

Crumbling Farum Azula

Consecrated Snowfield

This zone covers the lower Siofra River area accessible from wells in Mistwood and Caelid. It is likely, but not confirmed, that this is a distinct zone from Upper Siofra River and Mohgwyn Palace.

Upper Siofra River

This zone covers the upper Siofra River area accessible from Limgrave after defeating Starscourge Radahn. It is likely, but not confirmed, that this is a distinct zone from Lower Siofra River and Mohgwyn Palace.

Mohgwyn Palace

This zone covers the entire island on which Mohgwyn Palace stands. It is likely, but not confirmed, that this is a distinct zone from Lower and Upper Siofra River.

For the love of god, please let us buy an item that unlock all the summoning pools. I don't care if it's ultra expensive, or even a rare item needed, it's just trash when you want to have fun and help people all over the map.

For the one labeled "Albinauric Rise", the interactive map and description seems to be slightly off. If you go NorthEast from the "Inner Consecrated Snowfield" site of grace, you'll see it on a tiny hill on the edge of the frozen river on your right side (and possibly a giant crab a small ways off in the distance). Looking at your in-game map, it will be closer to the ICS grace than the actual Albinauric Rise tower.

There's one near snow valley ruins overlook as well, it's on a cliff facing Castle Sol a bit to the west from the site of grace

Theres an effigy in front of the witchbane ruins, weeping peninsula.
The choices of where these are put in the overworld is beyond me. Theres absolutely nothing there. But putting down an effigy near nights cavalry or deathbirds, bell bearing hunters? Nah.

I don't care if fromsoft improves nothing else in the game. But please give me the ability to deactivate effigies i have previously acivated. I want control over where my sign ends up. I don't wan't to do the radahn fight 12 times in a row...

These should have been more visible. A small, gray statue about waist high is not something I can easily see while running from giant monsters. Why not make them glow golden yellow?

"Agheel Lake: (Flying Dragon Agheel) On the north bank of the lake, southeast of the bridge. [Elden Ring Map Link]"

It's south*west* of the bridge, not southeast.

Missing haligtree canopy site of grace, there is one next to it. And below the well site of grace siofria river.

Just so nobody else spends 20 minutes looking for the non existent fort faroth effigy, its actually past flying dragon greyll, not next to elder dragon greyoll, and its not next to fort faroth. but it is past the greatbridge.

With the new update, activating these are invaluable if you want to replay through bosses or dungeons around the world. I wish these were highlighted gold so they're easier to spot.

Playing on my alt and just finished Caelid. Found these unlisted.

Weeping Peninsula - Castle Morne at the top of the entrance lift

Caelid Dragonborrow - Near Farum Greatbridge site of grace at the beginning of the bridge by dragon boss.

Inside Caelid Tower near 2 knights before the platforming section.

I’ll continue to update as I go

There is an Effigy statue in the Mountain Top of the Giants near where the Death Rite Bird spawns. Not mentioned in the above article. Makes me wonder how many other Effigy Statues are not listed.!

                              • They really should make this glowing, or bigger, or both.
They're way too easy to miss.

Maybe have them glow whenever you use the Furlcalling Finger Remedy.

EFFIGY OF THE MARTYR: SELLIA GATE has wrong place, it should be 'outside the Sellia Town gate' instead of being very near O'Neil

Effigies not registered in the interactive map: one in Stormveil Castle (Rampart Tower), one in the Divine Tower of Caelid, one in the Redmane Castle (not Radahn), one before the minor erdtree in the outer wall of the capital, one for the great wyrm Theodorix (in the snowfield, between the central site of grace and the cave of the forlorn).

Effigies easy to miss: the one south of Iji (for the ruins), one for the dragon Smarag, one for the Martyr ruins (west of Goldmask), one in the sewer below the capital (after the crayfishes), one in the bottom of the Volcano Manor at the site of grace where you open the door to have access to lava (don't know the name in english) and surely others that I don't remember.
