Elden Ring NPCs and Merchants in Murkwater Catacombs

Walkthrough for Murkwater Catacombs in Elden Ring

When you are traveling to the the eastern portion of Western Limgrave, by following the water north-east from Agheel Lake, an NPC invader, the Bloody Finger Nerijus will appear when you are nearing the entrance of the Murkwater Catacombs. You'll see a message that says you've been invaded. Shorly after, Bloody Finger Hunter Yura will be summoned provided that you've spoken to him earlier under an overpass near Seaside Ruins in southern Limgrave. This encounter will most likely be easy since Yura will easily defeat the NPC invader alongside your help. Bloody Finger Nerijus drops the Furlcalling Finger Remedy, Cerulean Crystal Tear, and 784 Runes when defeated.

Continue going north through the swamp section and then head west where you'll see the entrance leading to the catacombs. Open the door and you'll find the Murkwater Site of Grace at the middle of the steps. This area is pretty much straight to the point where you will be fighting an optional boss here, but you still need to be cautious since the location is swarming with Jade Goblins, ready to ambush you, and if you aren't careful, could potentially kill you. From the resting point, head down the steps and in the first hallway where you'll see some statues, there are Jade Goblins here, walk up a bit the doorway and look to your left, there is one hiding by the corner and then look up to ceiling to find one waiting to ambush you while the other is straight ahead by the arch doorway. Once you've killed the area, before going down the steps, look at the left side of the arch doorway to find a corpse that you can loot to find x1 Northern Mercenary Ashes.

As you head down the steps, go straight but hug the right or left side of the wall, or better yet, put your shield up as you move forward to guard yourself from the incoming flaming arrows in case you step on the platform on the ground. Kill the two Jade Goblins standing next to the statue that's at the center of the room with a ranged magic attack if you have access to such spell like the Glintstone Pebble, or quickly rush in and attack with your melee weapon. Be cautious since there is another Jade Goblin hiding by the corner of the arch doorway on the left. Kill all of the enemies and approach the statue at the center to find a lever that opens the door leading to the area's boss. As you retrace your steps, sprint as you hug the left side of the wall to avoid getting stepping on the mechanism on the ground, and then make a hard left to reach the next section leading to the boss.

In the next section before the entrance leading to the boss, there will be a couple of Jade Goblin enemies again, there are two standing by the unlocked door and another one is hiding by the corner of the arch doorway. Once you've killed all of the enemies, look at the left side to find another body you can pillage to find x1 Urgent Heal. You've now cleared the small area, if you're ready, make sure you have all your healing items refilled, and also equip the Northern Mercenary Ashes equipped for this battle, then head through the unlocked door, down the steps, and traverse through the mist.

Boss Battle: Grave Warden

The Grave Warden is an optional boss and probably one of the easiest to beat. As soon as the battle starts, summon the spirit of the Northern Mercenary by using the Northern Mercenary Ashes and let the spirit companion do the hard work for you. It will serve as a distraction for the Grave Warden and will most likely attack it first. While this is happening, you can attack the boss with your ranged magic attack spells or if there is a window of opportunity, rush in and land a few attacks with your strongest melee weapon. The Northern Mercenary spirit has quite a large amount of health so it won't go down that easily and its attacks deal quite a lot of damage and can knockback the Grave Warden. Successfully defeating this boss yields 1200 Runes and drops the Ash of War: Storm Blade. After the battle, you can use the teleporter ahead to return to the entrance or just travel back by foot if you prefer to.
