Grand Lift of Dectus Walkthrough
The Grand Lift of Dectus is a massive platform with its entrance found at the end of the Bellum Highway in northern Liurnia, along the eastern landmass. This colossal structure joins the regions of Liurnia and the Altus Plateau. However, on your first visit, the lift is sealed by four Guardian Statues. It requires a special artifact in order to activate. This artifact is the Dectus Medallion which is made up of two halves found in separate locations:
- The Dectus Medallion (Left) can be found in Mistwood, inside a chest atop the tallest tower in Fort Haight to the east. [Map Link]
- The Dectus Medallion (Right) can be found in Dragonbarrow, inside a chest atop the eastern tower in Fort Faroth to the east. [Map Link]
Once both halves are obtained, approach the platform once more to hoist the whole medallion and raise the lift, taking you to the Altus Plateau.

Collecting both Dectus Medallion halves and taking the Grand Lift of Dectus will trigger the Radahn Festival.
If the player explores Redmane Castle before activating the Grand Lift of Dectus, the area will have multiple enemies and an extra double boss fight (Misbegotten Warrior and Crucible Knight) before the main boss of Redmane Castle (Starscourge Radahn).

Does the game actually give you any clues where to find the right half? Because if it does, I missed them. I had explored the Ruin-Strewn Precipice, beaten the magma boss, opened the Abandoned Coffin grace, and made note of the valley guarded by the dragon boss before turning back and exploring Caria Manor. So, when I discovered that the Dectus lift was not working for reasons unknown to me at the time, I just rushed past the dragon and and continued questing in Altus.

So it's literally just a lift? It doesn't unlock any new zones or any loot? What a disappointing reward for completing the Medallion.

So it's literally just a lift that brings you from 1 already-unlocked area to another already-unlocked area? What a disappointment after finding both Medallion pieces.

Stop. Do not pass go. Ranni main quest can still be completed... but some of the subquests will be locked or close to...
Because using the lift starts the radahn festival, which allows you to flip the tower and get an item that, once given to ranni cancels out some of the npc quests.

There is one of those transparent spirits that gives some limited flavour dialogue if you interact with them at the lift of Dectus in Liurnia. This one references an ancient tunnel or possibly a secret ancient tunnel to the Erdtree. He says it has to be there somewhere.
Obviously if there was such a tunnel, someone would have found it and posted it all over the place by now. Maybe relates to the DLC though?

I just started NG+ can I ride to leyndell capital outskirts to get the giant crusher without triggering the Radahn festival? On my first playthrough the chest it was supposed to be in was bugged and empty so I want to go and get it now but I don't want to start the festival until I'm ready. Does anyone know for sure?
Something is missing from the guide. After "underground" there is no clear way to progresso.
Links are wrong and we haven't done both medallions for the lift.

Some ask what purpose the lift has other than atlas plateau. I believe right before you have to go right in order the progress tje frenzy flame ending. Not the lift itself rather a point of interest?

I got here via tombstone stairs NW of the Masoleum. Short and easy

What happens if you kill the 2 golem outside of the lift? Why aren't they hostile?
- Anonymous
The lift actually didnt trigger the festival for me itself. Resting at junction site grace in altus plateau after the lift did it.

Who though it was a good idea to let you search for the parts to use the elevator in the first place? The alternative way is less of an hassle than going deep into Caelid and fighting your way through to get the other part. This whole thing doesn’t make any sense. At least should’ve been somewhere in Liurnia

When I rode the grand lift for the first time, it filled me with awe and amazement. Such a monumental structure and a feat of engineering. Moments like this transform a good game into a masterpiece

Thats wrong!

I'm guessing the lift doesn't activate if you've already reached theAltus Plateau?

This is such a useless area, I was confused because it took me to somewhere I had already been.
Maybe it's for DLC?

If you are doing Ranni's quesline, then there won't be a crucible knight nor the misbegotten waiting for you. Only the Radahn fight.

This is the part of the main story that gets you stuck for many hours lol

Not sure if this has been discovered yet: you can reach the Grand Lift without fighting Rennala or even going through stormveil. Up to the west of the Mausoleum compound is a group of tombstones sticking out of the cliffs that allow you to drop down onto Bellum Highway. This should mean you can access Altus Plateau without a single boss defeated by getting the medallion and then dropping there.

I don't understand why would anyone voluntarily take the ravine route and not the lift unless they are going for a challenge run. The ravine entrance is a pain to find, it's full of annoying enemies and has an extra boss. The medallions for the lift are easier to find (the item description literally tells you where to find the other one), you can just run into the fort, grab the medallion and run away, and it skips all the annoyances of the ravine.

A strategy I used was to post the archer girl summon up on the balcony near the edge so she could shoot down below and then I fought the boss sword and shield to chip away while she chipped away with her shots. I also kept lightning bolt ready to spam when he turned to attack her. By keeping her up on the balcony and keeping the boss down below, she most likely won't get hit and can continue to smack him with arrows. This strategy has worked best for me and I don't think is too cheesey. Simply good placement of your ash summon.
Not that I have a problem with cheesey lol I tried to cheese him but that was honestly harder than this strategy. I made sure to level up my archer as best I could and got her to +6 incase anyone wonders.

Don't have both halves, explored Redman castle, no boss besides radahn, just two big lions?

Collecting both Dectus Medallion halves WITHOUT TAKING the Grand Lift of Dectus will ALSO trigger the Radahn Festival.

I feel like making this the only access to the Atlus plateau would have been better for the game, pretty sure most people reach the plateau through the mines anyways, which makes this place completely useless. Not only that, but the second medallion is located in dragonbarrow, where enemies are a lot harder than in the plateau anyways, so it doesn't make a lot of sense design wise.

To me this is just for roleplaying purposes. You can be the grace's dog and follow their guidance or do whathever you want, explore until you get the medallion and reach the plateau yourself, grace be damned.
- Anonymous
I can't wrap my head around why they put time and resources to create this area. I feel like there has to be something else to this area. With the grace system as useful as it is this seems like a waste of said time and resources.

Man, I was so sad when I found the other medallion after like 30 hours of play. I had already fully explored Altus Plateau by the time I found both pieces. What a useless area.
- Anonymous
to *actually* get here go to the main academy gate grace and go to the blue seal facing north. you should be able to examine it and travel through it to the bellum highway and its a straight shot from there.

I have both medallion halves and it still won’t work. It won’t prompt me to use them
- Anonymous
You might think it's useless, but it's necessary for speed runs. It takes forever to get through the Ruin-Strewn Precipice, plus you have to fight a boss at the end

useless bs, first time I used the lift I went down with it and got so confused
- Anonymous
Can you show it on the map so we can see where to actually go?

the most pointless area in the game given they made another way up thats honestly easier
Question: I'm... very new to this game, reading the wiki. From what I can tell, you can activate this lift without any Great Runes acquired. Can you get into Leyndell as well like this? I assumed the only way in was meeting the two Great Rune requirement, but if not this could be an interesting start for a Low% run.
