Heretical Rise Walkthrough
Heretical Rise Puzzle solution:
You must head over to the other side of the ravine in the north and find the invisible bridge that takes you across. The invisible bridge starts northeast of the Snow Valley Ruins Overlook grace. From here, make your way across the ravine and as you reach the tower look to your left. You should see very faint mist that guides you on a winding path up to enter the tower from a balcony above (the mist is significantly easier to see at night). Tip: You can use Rainbow Stones or shoot arrows with a bow to mark safe spots to walk on. Better yet, the Icerind Hatchet or another weapon with a ground-effect Ash of War will easily reveal the safe path.
Once you reach the balcony, you'll see two Avionette Soldiers: one close to your left, and another farther on the right. It's easiest to fight them one at a time.
After defeating them, take the stairs on your left (going up) -- the stairs lead to a lift.
Take the lift up, then step forward and turn right to go up winding stairs, but be weary of a final marionette soldier waiting for you as you ascend.
The stairs end at a room with a chest in the middle containing your reward -- Founding Rain of Stars

What a waste of time honestly. I'll be looking up every puzzle I come across from here on out. This is a joke.

I would like to hold a lit lighter under the testicles of the cretin who designed this.

Was imagining there would be invisible legde or pattern on the snow, something on what snow would accumulate, revealing it, spent like 30 minutes running in circles. In the end snow has nothing to do with it, it falls right through the bridge..

Tbh the most obnoxious thing about the whole ordeal is the pop up message at the end of the invisible section that locks you out of combat the moment you encounter the enemies within
- Anonymous
I like that the written portion of the guide's illustrations first have you following a Rennala cosplayer, before suddenly swapping to a squat gremlin.

I like puzzles. I usually try to figure things out. I don't usually complain. But the they clue is usless. Snow has nothing to do with solving this puzzle. They should have hinted at looking for something invisible at night.
- Anonymous
how is this even supposed to help? "take the stairs to your left" how will that help when there is no explanation what so ever?

READ THIS: you can completely skip this invisible bridge and just go around the left side ( as you face the tower from across the ravine) till you see the air jumper lift thingy.
- Anonymous
Not sure if this was already mentioned; but you can just keep punching and it'll bring you along the path with no effort since attacking wont push you off a ledge if the height will kill you. (Also- If your character stops moving when punching I found it easiest to very carefully inch by inch redirect the spot your character is facing and you'll make it. Hope this helps and I've seen a whole lotta bloodstains along the path XD.

I like puzzles! But this one is definitely not a puzzle, the answer is just too random... Who would search for an invisible bridge???

Usually this site has great tips and tricks… this is not one of them… consider adding more detail about how to find it.

Top tip, if you go to the map and pull back as far as it will allow, if you fall the drop is high enough for you to access the map and fast travel to the nearest grace to the cursor, I did it earlier on.

Using Steel-Wire torch's special will allow you to set the "ground" on fire, showing the path ahead.

I'll be honest, these ridiculously vague puzzles annoy me more than anything...I'm walking around looking for little spots of falling snow thinking there's some invisible enemy I have to kill for like thirty minutes before I give up and look it up -_-

FYI, after the 1st 2 soldiers. Clear up the stairs and up the lift. However, there is one more thst greeted me on my way up the stairs from the top of the lift. Back off and be careful as the spear will go through the wall and hit you. Tip throw Volcano bombs at the wall and it will chip dmg him dead. These type of bombs work extremely well in alot of situations as they go through walls and do insane tic dmg.

Makes you wish there was some kind of lens that drains FP to reveal these kinds of paths.

i cant see the fog and im playing offline because i am playing on a 2017 HP laptop, so i need everything to be as low as possible (including resolution) and hoarfrost stomp is Horribly inconsistent. Why, FromSoft, why.
- Anonymous
It's the little touches that matter.
1) you have to fight through a gank squad to get to the door. Then you read this and find out the entrance is a ways away so you travel, resetting the gank squad.
2) there are a few weapon skills that show the path nicely so you equip those weapons. Then you get into the actual rise and get ambushed by another gank squad - be sure to re-equip your upgraded weapons and don't try hacking away with a +0 Icerind Hatchet like I did.
3) one you leave, did you remember #1?

Use hoarfrost stomp it's the easiest way. No aoe means no ground.
- Anonymous
I recommend using the grafted dragon weapon from godrick the grafted. It’s aoe and lasting flames mark out the path pretty well
There's a bit of blue fog in the center of the path, marking around where you can step safely. Made it on my first try by following that.

Dev team: how obscure do you want the puzzle to be?
miyazaki: yes

Thanks for the tips all, made it across in one try (Ancestral Infant Head + throwing random stuff).
If only Fextralife would allow edits without an account, like any serious wiki does, people would be more inclined to actually edit the page.

This is a cruel one fromsoft, making me glad I give up easy cuz not in a bajillion years would I have figured this out, thanks fex
- Anonymous
Fromsoft forgot to make the snow fall on bridge. I figured it out by seeing the broken bridge and how its facing the entrance but the clue is misleading if you didnt play ds1 because falling snow doesnt do jack here

Oooooh beautiful falling snow what would've been of me without you guidance
the mist path doesn't seem to be visible until you've already stepped onto the branching path to the balcony. So as others have said just spam attacks until you find it as you can't fall while attacking
There's no mist.
Where is the mist?
Where is it?
I see it!!!! It's bright AF.
I play in a pretty sunny room (10 foot high windows). Because of that, I have my in-game brightness on 10 but my overall monitor brightness lower, so that games are normal brightness but browser, etc., isn't.
After reading some comments, I turned my in-game brightness to 5 and passed time until night. All of a sudden, I could see the mist a lot more easily. It was bright and thick. Didn't use one bolt from there on out after using about 100 previously.
To be clear, this was the path leading upwards, NOT the initial invisible bridge.
- Anonymous
best way to traverse the bridge seems to be just spamming normal attacks, there are some incantations/sorceries and ashes of war that can be used to trace the bridge (taker's flame, magma breath, shadow bait, magma shot, bloodboon, etc.) but is too bothersome specially to trace the stairs
- Anonymous
The only reason I found this without looking it up was because a random skull spawned on the middle of the invisible bridge, and even then I still looked it up to be sure because the snow went right through it and I didn't want to die because of a bug...
- Anonymous
You can fall while attacking, light attack across the bridge
- Anonymous
Now I don't feel bad about looking this up after failing to solve the riddle. I'm running around for an hour looking for the snow falling on something invisible near the tower.
The "clue" is useless and misleading. We need to go to a completely different area to gain access to an invisible bridge which is not even affected by snow. Who the hell is solving this on their own and offline, like how I like to play?
- Anonymous
I have a hard time believing that ANYBODY could have figured all this out from the clue.
As a general rule, don't waste your time with the puzzles. Just google the solution.
- Anonymous
spending 30 minutes for silhouettes in the massive snow area and it's a bridge on the backside accessible from a different area. lame

"Falling snow marks something unseen" the heck it does. The snow goes right through the pathway. Arrows and shiny pebbles are the only way to see the first part of the bridge
- Anonymous
I just used a simple Pike, as its strong attack has a forward motion, without allowing you to fall off. Strong attack, strong attack, until you're on the balcony. I didn't fall off, unlike using some other weapons (e.g Grafted Greatsword or Godskin Peeler didn't work).
- Anonymous
My last 2 playthroughs (journey 4 and 5) only half the bridge spawns until I've died falling off (in the middle, not the intersection). There's not even notes on the tower side. Then miraculously it spawns when I come back to try a second time. It's nothing to do with clicking the sign first as I've always gone straight across without going around. This started after the last patch.
- Anonymous
What is arrow? also what was the message that popped up as you enter?
- Anonymous
Easier to see the mist for the stairs leading up from the invisible bridge at night. "Falling snow" does NOT show the unseen. They should've chosen a better riddle.
- Anonymous
Abuse the fact that attacking stops you at the edge. I just took a weapon with a forward moving moveset. Just spam RB/R1 and you literally cannot fall off. Aim at an angle and you'll follow the path to the balcony.
- Anonymous
Finally got past the invisible bridge into the tower and was instantly massacred by an aereonette, thanks Miyazaki
"Falling snow shows the unseen."
Falling snow doesn't show squat. This puzzle is just plain bad. Even Dark Souls did it better.
- Anonymous
To anyone who has trouble finding it, my advice is to use rainbow arrows or rainbow stones to find the path, the arrows will collide with where u need to turn left.
- Anonymous
"See here for bridge start location" literally felt like clicking a virus link. Basically all that part did was say ha fuk u. Can't even make it into the damn thing if I can't see the damn start
- Anonymous
Puzzle was like others were saying pretty horribly designed for someone to reasonably figure out on their own not to mention bugged. As far the bridge was concerned it was pretty easy to see thanks to all the blood stains and messages. Something that helped me with unsure areas was just a plain bow and arrow the projectiles stick around long enough to mark your path.

directions on here are terrible. "From here make your way across the ravine and as you reach the tower look to your left."
mmm...not exactly.
theres no snow or mist or anything to see...maybe theres supposed to be...but no...you cant see anything.
and you need to only go around HALF way across the bridge when you start looking to your left. i cant tell you how many times i fell because "as you reach the tower" implies that the stairs are near the end of the bridge where the tower is...they arent.
also frost stomp helps...but only if youre in the correct spot...otherwise frost stomp makes it look like there are stairs where there arent...and you fall. the takeaway here is to start checking to your left long before youre near the tower.

“Falling snow reveals the path” my ass. I have been playing these games since the beginning and most of these rise puzzles are terribly designed. The clue for two of them dont point you in the right direction and the ones where you have to walk to the otherside of the map are not only bugged but are completely impossible to find without a guide unless you want to spend days trying to find the solution to some of these. Sure let me go hit the one boulder in the middle of a minor erdtree forest to solve one of these. They should never bring back puzzles like these because not only are their clues to the answer is extremely far fetchd but they cant even program the game for the puzzles to even work. Worst thing ever created in all souls games.

Imagine the surprise when they patch an invisible bridge to the Palace Approach Ledge-Road and the big red chicken comes charging up at you.
- Anonymous
Good luck finding the path from the photos, the branch point for the path up to the tower is basically invisible. Use Hoarfrost like the others say, it's the only way you'll find it. Once you're actually on it the must marking the path becomes easy enough to follow, and it's quite wide so you shouldn't fall if you just follow the blueish mist.
- Anonymous
You can see the faint trail better at sunset/evening because the path glows orange instead of white.
- Anonymous
Use a torch with fire breathing, the path you can walk on have fire stuck on it
- Anonymous
Using any melee attack string which has you step forward helps a lot as the player character won't fall off any lethal ledges when you step forward this way and also it seemed to make more mist appear (at least with a weapon which touches the ground).

Some of the the pictures in this walkthrough are quite misleading and I'll be taking the time personally to retake and add some more helpful screenshots if no one else does.

I just did the Puzzle, and there was a faint white trail that marked the bridge. Helped out a lot

What a shame! Cool puzzle ruined by an awful and misleading hint.
All previous Rise puzzles condition the player too look for things surrounding the building itself so this was way too vague. There's an obviously broken bridge on the map. It should have been a hint that mentioned that.
- Anonymous
1. Snow does NOT reveal the bridge, it stays invisible.
2. The bridge is behind the tower and is only approachable from a separate area.
3. Players have a choice to fall to death countless times or to use projectiles that stay on the ground after impact.
Absolute cringe puzzle. It was obviously designed with deliberate intention to piss off people.

The clue on this tower is bad. Possibly lost in translation or something?
At no point does it hint at a bridge or a path from the OTHER side of the ravine, not to mention the "falling snow" that literally goes through everything and is pointless.
Yet again one of those instances where one is pretty much forced to look up the solution. Has anyone ever had "fun" with these tower puzzles? Because i sure havent.
Everytime i see another tower and a shitty puzzle, i just wanna pass it, but the completionist in me needs to get it over with.

Move forward by attacking with a melee weapon if you're standing on the edge it wont allow you to fall off. No need to use arrows or anything.
- Anonymous
If you have an hard time to see the blueish ground fog on the invisible bridge and stairs, you can use any tool or weapon that put your view into 1st person and that seems to make some of the fog much more clearer. I guess the fog is only viewable from a certain angle and the normal 3rd person view doesn't have a good angle to make it appears on the screen or something.
consider using the wave of gold skill if you the relic sword to test if there is path ahead
- Anonymous
"The seal on the rise opened" stayed on my screen for at least a solid 10 seconds upon reaching the tower, rendering me unable to use weapons or dodge or anything. The enemies easily killed me within that timeframe. What a stupid ****ing mechanic.
- Anonymous
The description to get to the heretical rise is laughably bad.
- Anonymous
i used a short bow with arrows to mark the path, faster than stones, i think fire arrows iluminate part of the bridge
STOP AT THE END AND ACCEPT THE SEAL BROKEN MESSAGE BEFORE PROCCEDING TRUST ME
- Anonymous
The clue they give you (falling snow marks something unseen) makes you think the location of an invisible bridge will be marked by snowflakes sitting on it. But no, the snow goes straight through the invisible bridge! Falling snow didn't reveal anything! I don't mind vague or cryptic hints, but this was just an outright lie.
- Anonymous
use a bow or crossbow and fire arrows into the floor its faster and easier than rainbow stones.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
As someone else pointed out, there are little puddles of "mist" or what would be "FALLEN" snow (NOT "FALLING"), on the invisible path that are barely visible unless on a low brightness setting or at evening, when they turn orange-red. Looking at the bridge, the snow goes right through as if it was air.
I was searching for objects where the falling snow would not go through or would make a dome around for about an hour before I gave up. Very misleading puzzle.
- Anonymous
If you can, hoarfrost stomp does a good job giving you an outline of the path. Remember that you have to go left at some point to access the tower, you can get a clue to start moving left when you see some odd particles in the air.

If you have St. Trina's Torch, it will do a fairly short duration but wide purple flame on the ground and you can use it to light your way.

Hoarfrost Stomp ash is amazing for revealing the path here, it literally will follow the path up and everything.
- Anonymous
Use a steel wire torch skills to burn the ground. Way up starts from middle left of the bridge

Try using the Sentry torch, available from the Hermit Merchant at the Hermit Merchant shack

Hey, fun fact, Beast Claw will follow the pattern of the bridge and let you see where the drop offs and side path is,

I think the riddle is missing something so i added a few lines to the riddle and it sounds like this:
''falling snow marks something unseen
a connection lies inbetween,
the freezing fog
which shall rise to towers top''
It felt a bit vague so i had to do this.
- Anonymous
This may not even be a thing, but I noticed a faint, orange mist on the path whenever it became Evening Time. I was then able to easily follow the path up without wasting anymore arrows or pebbles.

The game doesn't let you fall of by attacking so you can safely move by attacking
Thanks for the nighttime tip! I was half way across midday when I read it.
Adjust your brightness levels in-game and you can see the mist much easier.
