Grand Lift of Rold is a Location in Elden Ring. The Grand Lift of Rold is found in the Forbidden Lands and guards the way to the Mountaintops of the Giants. It is only accessible by those who have gained entry into Leyndell, Royal Capital.

Grand Lift of Rold Walkthrough
The Grand Lift of Rold is found by heading East from Leyndell, Royal Capital, past the Forbidden Lands. The closest site of grace is the Avenue Balcony site of grace. From the site of grace, head up the stairs and take a left down the road. Follow the road until you reach a large door. After opening the door, you can continue up the road where there is a lift on your left near the end. This lift brings you to the Rold Route, but it will be blocked by golden light until Morgott is defeated. See in the interactive map. Once you arrive, you will find a Site of grace on your right side and the Finger Reader Crone on your left side. Head to the lift and use the Rold Medallion given by Melina after defeating Morgott, The Omen King. You won't be able to activate it without the Rold Medallion, should you, somehow, manage to reach the lift before facing Morgott.
This lift takes you to two different locations depending on the Medallion you've selected. This could take you to the Mountaintops of the Giants or the Consecrated Snowfield, an alternate secret location for which you will need Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left) and Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right).
The Left Medallion piece is found in Castle Sol. Found on the roof of the tower in the northeast, accessible after defeating Commander Niall. [Elden Ring Map Link] For the right medallion, you will need to head near theVillage of the Albinaurics. Hit Albus, who is disguised as a pot past the Perfumer guarding the path up from the Village of the Albinaurics Site of Grace in the swamp caves west of Liurnia of the Lakes. Map Location here. Latenna, south of this location hints at Albus's whereabouts.
To use the secondary medallion rather than the default Rold Medallion on the lift, use left or right keys to select which Medallion you want to use when you see the switch action prompt.

AnonymousRan into a small bug. No matter if I selected "secret medallion" or the other, it would hoist the grey medallion given by Melina. This happened a few times. I ended up resting at the site, talking to the crone at the lift and then it worked. Maybe others had this is issue, just wanted to say that you are definitely not insane.

Hi, can you help me... i already killed Morgott, and got to the lift in the east Leyndell. I also already go up, but I am died at the outskirt capital there... I come again to go up by the elevator but the elevator is already up there, is it the end of my adventure? I cant go to mountaintops of the giants... :(
How do we edit this wiki? It's written terribly.

Here's some actual directions in an old comment:
1) Go to the Avenue Balcony grace, 2) climb up that flight of stairs next to you, 3) take a left and follow that road until you hit a big door, 4) open the door and you'll enter a new area, 5) continue to follow the road and enter the first major gate on your left to find a lift, 6) go up the lift and continue straight across a bridge. The Grand Lift of Rold is at the end.

I just now noticed that one floor up from the bottom of the lift has an armor item, followed by a door with the Blade of Calling in it. Send the lift up, and you will see it soon after.

For some reason the door that leads to the lift didn't unlock for me after killing morgott

Not sure if this is a one-off situation, but my friend just had an issue with the lift prompting him to use the medallion. The Rold Medallion, not the two halves of the Haligtree. The prompt wouldn’t show. The only way we were able to fix it was to have him talk to the Palm Reader in the Roundtable Hold. Might be a no brainer but we both overlooked it for most of the night. Hope this helps someone out, because we were struggling for a minute there.

I already beat the game in ng+, so set the tree on fire without going to thw lift or the mountaintop of giants, is there a way to access the lift at this point? Since you cant make the normal way through the ashen capital

I'm really trying to do this first play through no guides, (planning on cheesing it up on my next playthrough).
I managed to get both halves of the Haligtree medallion and then spent far too much trying to figure out how to make it work.
Ended up coming here and face palming hard lmao.

i have the rold medallion in my inventory, but i receive no prompt to activate the lift? i watched a video on someone using it and i'm in the same spot and there is no prompt??

Is there any possible way to skip the Capital/go around the Lift and still get to the mountaintops of the giants (without using glitches)?

To use the secret medallion, go to the same "hoist lift" spot and switch action. Seems obvious in hindsight but I'm trying to save anyone from making my silly mistakes.

To access the Grand lift of Rold, simply follow the road where you killed the Edtree Avatar in the Capital, open the door, then take the elevator.
