Consecrated Snowfield is a Location in Elden Ring. The Consecrated Snowfield region is a secret area on the lower plains of the Mountaintops of the Giants, that can only be accessed by those that collect both parts of the Haligtree Secret Medallion. Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right) is found in Liurnia of the Lakes. Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left) is found in Mountaintops of the Giants. Once you have both pieces of the medallion, go to the Grand Lift of Rold and select "Hoist secret medallion" (make sure your action is "Hoist secret medallion" and not "Hoist medallion") to brandish your secret one.

The route through this land, crossed east to west by a frozen river, leads to Miquella's Haligtree. This is the path taken by those unchosen, though it is a trial all the same.

Found another item missing on the map. It was a Rune, sitting on a dead body east of Apostate Derelict. Map Location -61 / 135.
Go South-East from the Site of Grace: Apostate Derelict, towards the river, and you will see a path down, on the ledge overlocking the river is a body with the item on it.

The area is beautiful, and as much as I adore the snowfield, travel through a blizzard and see a beautiful snowy forest when it clears, I just can’t excuse the sheer brutality of it. Both this and Mountaintop suffer from the “skip all of it and sprint to the end” and that’s kind of a shame for how wonderful these areas could’ve been.

I found a Somber Smithing Stone 8 or 9 on top of the Stone Spire just south of Albinauric rise east side of consecrated snowfield. Missing on the map, so added a comment on the map page as well. On the way up to the way gate, hold left until you find a school of magic just next to the base of a stone spire formation, that school of magic has the magic rain, defeat it, then jump to the top of the stone spire and there is a somber smithing stone. -74 / 148 is the location on the map.

Only area in the game where I feel like I'm being punished for exploring - at least lake of rot had really good loot for how early it was

I usually use light armor and fun builds until I reached this place. It is the no-fun zone so far with the fog and barren open areas with boring enemies like that stupid red wolf that is guarded by like 9 other wolves.

I beat the runebear. Now waiting for Miyazaki-san to give me a call and congratulate me on my nobel price.

Outside of Latenna’s questline, this area has no real reason for existing. In fact, they could’ve put Ordina in Flame Peak or the Moutaintops, same as the churches, overworld bosses, caves, etc.

It legitimately feels like this area’s only reason for existing is to pad runtime, which is not something I would normally ever say in FromSoftware’s case.

Killing the Dragon and the Erdtree Avatar disable coop in the area. So avoid killing those until last if you'd like to summon friends

Some pointers on how to get through the fog or whatever it is would have been nice. Also, is there any worthwhile loot in that blizzard worth stumbling around to find it? Not golden runes, furled finger remedies, mushrooms or any other turd loot no one gives the least amount of f**ks for?

                      • Anonymous

This took me forever to figure out, and I think they added an NPC to tell you about it in a recent patch:

There is a path of candle-like lights on the ground that you can follow through the blizzard.

Unfortunately, the lights are pale yellow, so it's very easy to miss them against the blinding white fog.

I hate I basically skipped on this area. Yeah, seems like a pain in the a** at first sight but now, looking at the amount of content available there I feel stupid not completing it. NG #2 here I come.

I can't see! buuut latenna gave me a sick smithing stone and I got to the haligtree. 10/10 would get chased by a dragonkin in sheer terror again

Yes, the Bear, the Dragonkin spirits, and the Wolf Archers were kinda cancerous, but have you tried fighting the Red Wolf in the snowstorm while also being attacked and staggered by 10 rabid grey wolves non-stop while also hopelessly trying to dodge magic projectiles that literally spawn out of sight and deal 40% of your HP as damage?

                              • Is there a way to kill the giant spectral... I'm not sure what it is, a skeleton knight on all fours or maybe a dragonkin knight?, it is between the area with the two knight riders in the clearing before yellow anix ruins, you can hear it walking around, i whittled it's health down to 0 4 times in a row but he keeps immediately re-spawning.

I genuinely enjoyed this area. It's awesome, no sarcasm. Tough to see in the blizzard, but using the map plus cardinal directions it's actually really simple. And I loved clearing the entire blizzard area, even that Red Wolf! Very fun to have this variety in the game. And dodging the lightning balls is simple folks - just trigger them and run behind a tree or rock, or let Torrent take the brunt (sprint on her, then heal her with raisins, as she'll take damage from the aoe). Best tip of all though, activate the Inner grace and then explore, this causes most of the area to be cleared of the whiteout blizzard.

I'm not even being salty when I say this but I 100% believe the game would be improved drastically if this whole area was just completely removed from the game.

                                    • Anonymous

They basically dumped every type of enemy into this area, with 100x health and damage and with no visibility, and just said "there you go - beat that". In fact that just describes the second half of the game to be honest.

                                      • We are definitely in need of a map marker for the Mohgwin Palace teleport. Unless players want to 100% every zone they encounter, there is a very slim chance they will notice a tiny gateway hidden in a corner guarded by a single mob in their first playthrough, especially without consulting web resources.

Varre's questline is fine, but stowing away an alternative access to a game zone that might as well play part in the upcoming (hopefully) DLC is just unacceptable.

lmao the only unique enemy in the Consecrated Snowfield is Malenia

now I'm REALLY glad I sprinted past everything

I’m a huge sucker for snow areas in games and this place in the evening and at night with the ambiance is really pretty and relaxing, I just wish I wasn’t getting gunned down by wolfback albinuarics the whole time

This area isn't as bad as comments are saying, like... Wow guys, come on it's annoying, but not the end all be all of bad areas geeze

They really couldn't be bothered in the last half of this game huh? Beyond the albinaurics riding wolves and the envoys there is not a single new enemy in this game past the capital

                                                  • Anonymous

So.. I've come across like five different ones of the arcane sphere enemies like what you find in witchbane ruins out here. I see no mention of them on this page or anywhere really. They don't drop anything, a couple of them do the normal pop out of the ground bit, but some are just kind of chilling out around a corpse with no special loot on it. I can't see anything that they would be doing in particular so far, but my current thought is maybe they've got something to do with the dragonkin spirits?

                                                    • Anonymous

"I loved Frigid Outskirts, I hope an area with the same mechanics makes a return in Elden Ring" -said nobody ever

I liked the area. Compared to the rest, it has a lot of environmental story telling, which makes exploration rewarding.

And I loved the wolves chasing the ball :)

                                                                • Huh, other wiki pages have walkthrough for the area no matter how small or large they are, this page just includes a bunch of listings. One of the hardest area in the game, or is that no one has cleared this place yet to be able to write a comprehensive guide lol?

                                                                  • Anonymous

my thoughts on this place. I have around ~300h ingame and going very slowly, to explore and find everything on my own, bosses, items etc (then I check guides and such but I usually miss just one item here and there). for as much as I disliked moutaintops of the giants, this area might actually be my favorite. it feels like a condensation of the previous places of the game, it wants to test everything you learned. I tried to understand why so many people hated the consecrated snowfield, and I believe it's because this zone is mainly "empty" in terms of rewards and achievements, which isn't a concern to me. it's a transition area, to go either to haligtree or to moghwyn palace, and people don't want to waste time here. from another perspective, I 100% every previous areas, and almost finished that one, every time at the "average" level I should've been (I know it's all subjective but I try to be careful to not be op), and the difficulty feels consistent to me (I'm level 108 rn, with +18 halberds and clawmark seal). I died a lot here, but I died a lot in other places too. What I do understand though is how this place might feel frustrating however, it asks a lot to the player, and it might even be worse with the game fatigue as you get closer to the endgame. Well, what's my point exactly I'm not sure, I'd say don't put the "worse place in the game" label too soon..the fog area is not even 1/3 of the consecrated snowfield..but it's all your own opinion in the end. And I liked that place :)

                                                                        • Anonymous

Anyone know where the gateway on the east side go? The one behind the Lesser Red Wolf?
Just wanna know of it's worth killing it to get through the gateway.

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous

The snowstorm is mainly at the entrance half of the area and once you get to the frozen river, all becomes cleared up. Also its way easier to go opposite way (from river towards entrance grace) because snow seems less dense that way (while still pretty annoying). Killing the Runebear popping out of half-buried man does not remove the snow storm. I even tried kiling all the Runebears in area with no difference to the weather. And about the Coffin caravans - hilarious detail is you can make chains of the yeti break after some damage and they rush you and break coffin and all loot with it disappears (but can pick up again from same caravan after resting at grace site). Invisible Draconids seem to only guard open snow fields around giant frozen tree trunks. Killing them or making them despawn not removes them, but does give back FP/HP if you have talismans that give HP or FP on enemy death equipped. Also making ball lightnings hit your direction will discharge them and they "die" even if missed you (also HP/FP back, but no runes).

                                                                              • Anonymous

                                                                                • Anonymous

All that snowy white bukkake on my eyes and the annoying enemy gangbang my ass, that's literally Frigid Outskirts 2.0. Look like Fromsoft finally run out of the idea, aren't they?

                                                                                  • Anonymous

Fun fact: the Elden Ring team was too busy, so they let the DS2 dev team out of their cages to design this area.

                                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                                      • Anonymous

The second half of the medallion is at the tippy tip of castle sol :)

                                                                                        • Anonymous

So many people are missing the point of this place. The snowstorm with low visibility, the powerful enemies, invisible assassins and environmental hazards are supposed to make you empathize with the Albinauric pilgrims who have to pass through the Consecrated Snowfields to escape persecution and reach their refuge (the Haligtree). It's a deadly odyssey for them to get to freedom. That's why most of the Albinauric pilgrims you meet are dying. Great games make you feel feeelings, and this is one of the areas that is supposed to make you empathize and feel feelings.

Oh and dragon soldier ghosts that spawn endlessly for some reason. Can we at least clear the blizzard?

Too many of the listed items are not actually available in this zone and the enemy location is exclusive to the Haligtree.

                                                                                                • Anonymous

Be wary of Giant skeletons that appear out of the ground that also stun lock and two shot you even with 1900 HP lvl 123. (like one of those mariner summons) Also love the zero visibility snow setting. Thankfully I have xbox series X and a 4K Tv so i can see awesome detail of nothing like 8bit nintendo. I mean kudos on the atmosphere... but yawn :) Leaving this zone asap.. lol

The snowstorm with low visibility in the beginning part reminded me of going skiing IRL, sometimes I had to ski in conditions like this with zero visibility. Filled me with nostalgia

I attacked it and it showed a health bar but just ran off. I reduced it's health to zero, but it would not die. Just kept taking and displaying damage numbers and running. This was at night. Maybe another night's cavalry will appear there if we find a way to get rid of the summons?

Climb down and walk around the back of the archer on the low roof, using the crumbled wall to climb up behind her, you can now jump across the remaining rooftops unimpeded. Kill the archer that overlooks the first, climb ladder and light the candle. Climb down and around to another archer on the opposite side, then go to ground. Light the statue on the ground then travel to the building with the final statue on the roof, there is a ladder at low level near the road/path that you can climb to the top.

Spawn in at the Castle sol main gate site. then run south to the shack of teh lofty, while on horseback. Be sure to trigger teh death rite bird boss fight as you do. Next to the shack is a rocky pillar standing next to the waterfall. From here jump off teh cliff. Then double jump just as Consecrated snowfield appears on screen. Guide yourself down to the rocks at the bottom, and you will die. Here you will be given a choice of spawning in at a site of grace, or a stake of marika. Spawn in at the stake and you will be at the bottom. Now find a site of grace here and you will now be able to travel here whenever needed.

Or are the people talking about the bear just idiots who don't realize there is no blizzard in the northern part?
