Mausoleum Knight is a Humanoid Enemy in Elden Ring. These headless knights are capable of vanishing and teleporting short distances to attack their foes. They are easily recognized due to being headless and the unique Eclipse Crest Greatshield they have in their left hand. They can also be found riding headless mounts.

The spirit of a Mausoleum Knight can be summoned for aid in battle by using the Lhutel the Headless Spirit Ashes.

A self-inflicted curse ties the spirits of these loyal knights to the land, having willingly beheaded themselves so that they may serve their masters in death.

Elden Ring Mausoleum Knight Locations

Where to Find Mausoleum Knight:

  • One can be found patrolling around the Walking Mausoleum northeast of the Raya Lucaria Academy.
  • One can be found in the Bellum Highway, standing outside the Black Knife Catacombs.
  • Several can be found wandering the lands of the Consecrated Snowfield.
  • They can be found in large quantities roaming the ruins in Deeproot Depths. They may stop spawning once the Walking Mausoleum is toppled.

Mausoleum Knight Notes & Tips

  • The Mausoleum Knight Set does not include a helmet as the knights are headless.
  • The horses that are being ridden are also headless.
  • The missing head of the Mausoleum Knights is not just a model change- they completely lack a hitbox there, making them immune to headshots from projectile weapons. The projectile will fly right through the area where their head should be.
  • Their weapons are permanently enchanted with Death Blight and can inflict Death Blight buildup.
  • They seem to be immune to rot, along with their Soldier counterparts. (Upon further testing, also immune to bleed, possibly among other status effects).
  • All Mausoleum Knights are capable of teleportation, which can be highly disorienting for inexperienced players. If a Mausoleum Knight is particularly passive and is choosing to constantly teleport instead of actually attacking, it may be prudent to break your lock-on to get your bearings and re-orient yourself to your surroundings.

Farmed the black knife one for its shield. Ended up with three chest pieces, three greaves, four gauntlets, and *six* greatswords before the shield finally dropped after 3 hours. I want to explode

        Gods,
If this dude at Blacknife Catacombs is just the doorman, why do I wanna go inside and try snotting Two Bosses who probably have at least one head each?
        I don't think I'm normal any more

Are there locations of these knights references to DS1's Lord souls? Like Black Knife Catacombs for Gravelord nito for example.

          • Imagine my despair when I killed the knight and spared the headless ghost horse, and couldn't make it my new temporary steed for running around Deeproot Depths :(
            Alas, BotW this is not...

I know that it's kind of the whole point, but I would have loved it if there was another Walking Mausoleum somewhere in the world that was more difficult (like an actual fight) and when it fell down you could enter it to find the piles of skulls belonging to it's servants, alongside their helms. Like, in life they must have had helmets, right? Would be a wee bit strange if they didn't.

Best way I found to take out the one in front of Black Knife Catacombs was +9 Bastard sword with Giant hunt. Sneak up behind him, giant hunt -> immediately heavy attack -> poise break -> riposte. This was killing it in one cycle he never even gets the chance to swing. This was how I was already set up, but its super fast. Also, if you mess up the riposte you can just keep light swinging r1 and the bastard sword will keep him staggered till death.

Got the gauntlets & shield my second kill (didn't intend to farm), decided to farm since the drop rate seemed good. 30 minutes later I look it up & the drop rate is awful lmao.

If you are looking to obtain the knights greatsword early by farming the one outside black knights catacombs, here's a (feels like) 95% guaranteed combo with 2h lordsworn GS:

Backstab, buffer charged R2, L1 (x4) [stagger], wait for stamina, critical stab, jump R2, L1. The only spot he can escape is after the second L1, with either a teleport or a block (which you can just keep attacking to interrupt the guard attack).

Went to Black Knife Catacombs for the deathroot and decided that I wanted to go ahead and farm the Eclipse Great Shield. By the time I got it, I needed only the Mausoleum Knight Armor to have everything. You know what’s coming…

                      11 X Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot yielded the following: 8 X Mausoleum Knight Gauntlets, 4 X Mausoleum Knight Greaves, 4 X Knight’s Greatsword, 9 X Eclipse Crest Greatshield AND 1 X Mausoleum Knight Armor.

                      Ugh…addiction is bad m’kay.

These guys are balle artists, i fought a group of 4 mausoleum soldiers and one knight. The knight used its thrust attack as i dogded and i went for a swing with my scythe. then the knight teleported behind two of the soldiers and they hit me with there swords 5 times, staggering me. I got up and dissabled there shield, but then the teleported behind the big knight, the other two came in and used there thrust attacks along with the knight and then soon enough i had died. I had 60 vigor by the way and was carrying 128,000 runes. of course when i came back i died to a baskilisk barage so that was fun.

                        • Im farming These guys for atleast 2 hours and just now realized "Where would they even have their helmet, If they drop it? They dont even have a head. Now decided to look it up. Shouldve done that after the 1 hour mark where i had all available pieces. They called me galaxybrain for a reason.

Question I ask is - Who is this soulless Demi-God they follow and why is he labeled a disowned son of the goddess? Can’t be the Demi-god who was assassinate during the knight of black knives, he’s pretty much venerated a marytr.

I have duplicates of the entire mausoleum knight set yet I still haven't been able to farm a helmet. So lame!

A bit of an oversight, where it says the drops of the Mausoleum Knight, it list the armor set twice. Recommend removing the fourth bullet link and putting the sub bullet links under the second link.

There are five of them between the Fourth Church of Marika and the mausoleum on the Weeping Peninsula! Two are standing guard at the church door, three are patrolling up and down the path.

Thank you Liurnia Mausoleum Knight! What an awesome sparing partner. I learn so much from the 164 I had to beat the **** out of you to get the set! You got good swings to too, I'll admit! Oh, I changed my mind and won't be using all of your stuff though. Still had fun!

I killed the one in front of blackknife and it's body doesn't vanish. A lot of messages around it are saying try item? Am I missing something?

She (i say "she" bc the model is the same one as Lhutel if im not mistaken so i assumed thats who it was supposed to be, at least a shade of her or something) also drops the Mausoleum Knight Greaves, the Guantlets, and im pretty sure the Eclipse Greatshield and some type of greatsword.

There any lore explanation why there is one standing in front of Backknife catacomb? And it gladly let you dog style from a site of grace teleport...

How the hell am I supposed to fight this guy? He teleport spams so much I can't punish any of his attacks.

I've been farming the Mausoleum Knight for his armor for like 2 hours and the chest piece won't drop. I'm going crazy. Multiple copies of Greeves, boots, shield and sword have dropped-but that chest piece isn't dropping. I've used up a lot of chicken feet too farming this thing.
