I've been testing and using different file loads regarding his spawning. He will no longer spawn the moment you join Tanith and become a Recusant. The moment you talk to her and join, all the NPCs will move to the Manor. Looking at my map, I can still see Bernahl located at Warmaster's Shack. The moment I talk to Tanith, join, then look back at my map, Bernahl is going. Henricus won't appear either. (Probably because you're now on the same team)

1.05 patch update: apparently they fixed invasions not happening after killing the major field bosses, I was playing today and I was invaded by him normally around the Colliseum main path, even thought I had already slayed all the bosses in Limgrave.

I am curious as to whether joining with Tannith prevents the Recusant (seeing as how those who have joined Tannith are now Recusants as well) from invading? I have accepted Tannith’s 1st request, though I haven’t completed it, and Henricus isn’t invading me.

I think completeing the entire volcano manor quesline will still prevent him from spawning even post 1.05.

I tried on my characater that has completed the manor quesline and he still didn’t spawn. So maybe the boss conditions were removed but not the actual quesline conditions.

Since Henricus is a recusant, he’s most likely the member of volcano manor that killed Diallos’ maiden. But since he wears the Eye surcoat, he most likely started as one of Gideon’s henchmen. So Diallos should be just as mad at Roundtable hold as he is/was at Volcano manor. Perhaps Gideon even ordered the hit, to put Diallos’ revenge fantasy in motion. Having another Tarnished around the hold to lead him to Praetor Rykard.

If u read comments all over places on the net about this NPC, u will have no conclusion on how & why this NPC invades or does not invade. I have 2 chars, 1 on NG plus & a new one (My NG+ char is too OP w/ all weapons collected). The only boss left is the Dragon Agheel & he invaded my new char but not the NG+ char. I give it up on my NG+ char. If he doesn't invade, just say FU & go on.

New Game+, I left bosses alive, still no spawn. Most likely because I joined Volcano Manor at the time. I guess I'll try again in New Game++. I recommend going to him immediately when you start the game.

Open world... You can go anywhere anytime... But that also means you can't because it will screw quests and some items will be unavailable if you wander too far. This dude is not connected to any sidequest. Why such a harsh spawn requirement ?

This npc won't invade you if you join volcano manor...

Wears Eye Surcoat. He invades as a recustant early in the game, so probably became a part of the volcano manor. When we reach Rykard later on he has probably become "family", hence why we find his armor in the arena.

For those who can't get this guy to invade, a friend and I have pretty much narrowed it down. It has to do with Diallos. If you talk to Diallos after he's left the roundtable hold in search of his servant friend in the Academy Gate Town in Liurnia, it flags something with the Volcano Manor questline which prevents Recusant Henricus from invading you near the colosseum. What I haven't completely confirmed yet is if its just talking to Diallos when he's in Liurnia OR if its doing that AND then following up with him back at the roundtable hold. Spoilers I guess, but talking to him again in the hold after having spoken with him in Liurnia will move Diallos to the Volcano Manor. I am 99% certain this is what's preventing Henricus from invading.

Had no issues getting him to spawn in a near fresh SL1 run.
I've have started but not beaten Margit, been to the roundtable hold and spoke to all NPCs there, completed Morne Castle, and talked to Bernhal.

I guess try and get to the spawn location as soon as possible to get the talisman.

I'm pretty sure at least one of the cut-offs for him invading is reaching Volcano Manor. I couldn't get him to invade on one character post-manor. Had another character, beat Margit+Godrick+Renalla and a couple random side dungeons, took the Dectus lift, saw Rya at the top, which reminded me to try Henricus before having Rya teleport me. He still did invade and I was able to get the talisman.

If you want his drop then be careful with this one. It's a bit unclear what exactly determines if he spawns or doesn't spawn and I do think it is buggy so my advice is just rush his ass on new game to be safe.

This guy will invade you up till the point you either kill Margit, or do the thing that makes Margit 'despawn'.

Confirmed with Limgrave 100% clear with the exception of Margit onwards. Killing Margit stops him spawning. Invades day or night.

Lore: So he is part of Volcanic Manor (judging by name since Knight Berhntal get same name in Volcanic Manor). His Chest piece looks awfully like Eye Surcoat, indicating that he once served under Sir Gideon Ofnir. Moreover you find Eye Surcoat in the chamber of Rykard Lord of Blasphemy. My theory is that he joined Volcano Manor under Gideon's Orders. His first contract was to invade you, upon being defeated he returns to Volcanic Manor, where Tanith send him to Rykard, who devours him and poops the Eye Surcoat out.

100% doesn't spawn once joining Volcano manor. He spawned with all but Tibia manor dead in the starting area, and with everything bought from Sellen and the Warmaster dude. Once joining the manor though he does not spawn.

It´s definitely buggy. I have been to this place a couple of times during various stages of the early game, before and after patches. He never spawned for me. I am playing an Astrologer. Being character dependent would be the last excuse and not logic at all.... FS please fix it....

He spawned for me. I was on the search for Alexander before heading down to the Coastal Cave to help Boc with his quest, and I ended up going too far to the north and stumbling across the coliseum, which I recognized. All of the sudden I go the invasion notice. I've spoken with Sellan, but didn't buy any sorceries. I've defeated just 3 field bosses (all underground), so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

For those asking about his armor and weapon, its an odd mixture. Chest would appear to be the Eye Surcoat (found in Volcano Manor after the Rykard fight), hat is the Greathelm (bought from a nomadic merchant in central Caelid), and he wields the Greatmace (found in the camp near the Grand Lift of Dectus). Can't tell for the gauntlets or leggings though

I'm about to throw another "WTF" into this guy's spawn. I have not defeated Margit yet. Have not went to Weeping Peninsula. I have met every Npc. Bought everything from all Merchants. Fought every field boss in West and East Limgrave. I pretty much done everything you can do in the game for East and West Limgrave up until Margit.

When I go to the coliseum, this dude spawns. I run away. Fast travel to the Grace before Margit boss fight. Go to Coliseum, and he spawns. I fast travel to the Same Grace before Margit, and go back to the Coliseum... This dude does NOT spawn. So I repeat; fast travel to the same Grace, go back to Coliseum, and he does NOT spawn again.

So figure that one out.

This is 100% a bug. out of all the comments and my own testing he just does not spawn for some people like straight up just don't no matter how early you are in the game or late. he just don't it's a bug. good job fromsoft. what's even worst is that he isn't even linked that hard to a quest. he just shows up there keeping hostage the hammer talisman.

Kinda sad I wish they fix this and just fix his invasion spawn no matter how late your are in the game.

For my current caracter he didn't spawn, probably because I've already beaten all of the overworld bosses in Limgrave.

It's a shame this is still an issue in Elden Ring when even DS2 of all things worked around this.

The reason may be Tibia Mariner at Summonwater Village
When you defeat it, Henricus will not invade.
The boss is on the way to Gael Tunnel, those who want to get moonveil may have this problem.

Tested all the of following on a new character, and he still spawned in after each event:
- Ran directly to his location after starting a new game
- Ran away after initiating first spawn
- Defeated Agheel
- Defeated Margit
- Left Limgrave into Liurnia
- Diallos left roundtable hold
I am not willing to put more time into a test character to find out more, sorry.

He will not spawn in for my lv 40 main character that has not finished stormveil (but has defeated Margit) and has finished all field bosses of Limgrave/Weeping Peninsula. I strongly believe that he gets locked out when you finish more than one of the field bosses in limgrave, much like how co-op becomes disabled, though no one seems to be ale to agree on what causes this. Bloody Finger Nejirus appears to become locked out as well, but this is less documented since most people get to him early.

I've defeated all of the major area bosses (dragon, sentinel, mariner, castle morne, night calvary x2, erdree avatar) and Margit (I have not entered the castle yet), maybe those or some combination of the them locks him out, similar to how it locks out co-op?

I have watched a playthrough where he still spawned after Margit was defeated and Diallos was spoken to in Liurnia, but not again at roundtable hold where he leaves for volcano manor. I have already activated this part of the quest prior to going back to the coliseum and he won't spawn. Starting this part of Diallos' quest might block the spawn? I'll make a new character later to test.

It seems that he will not invade you for 2 possibly reasons,:
-Sorceress Sellen interaction(I doubt it)
-OR because you join the volcano quests to earlier and cause "RECUSANT" Henricus NOT SPAWN. Probably you and him are in the same sort of COVENANT.
In conclusion I hope to gain that talisman in some other way. Maybe symply finish the playtrough and restart a NG+, OR I hope he invades you in another place or in other way.

Just proved Sellen is NOT the trigger of non-invading.
One Test Character:
- Rush to there asap -> invaded
- Suicide and go killed Pumpkin Head, bought the cheapest 1000 magic -> still invaded
Two Playing Characters (both killed Margit but did not kill Godrick)
- One accepted Sellen's service, but bought no magic -> invaded
- One accepted Sellen's service, and bought some magics (not all) -> did not invade

I finally found out what does cause him to dissappear after 10 hrs... I totally forgot about sellen as soon as I entered her service and bought all the spells she had, he did not invade me anymore! Spread the word!

He invaded me many times early game, and I couldn't take him yet, but I have also beaten Margit and Godrick now, and he won't spawn. Must lock after one of them?

On my second character I joined volcano manor and completed a few contracts, killed godrick and radahn. He will not spawn. On my first character I went here early game and he spawned with no issues. So I'm not sure precisely what locks you out, probably volcano manor seeing as though he's a reccusant but if you want this talisman make sure you don't put off going here early. Really wanted this for powerstancing light weapons without shield knockback, pain in the ass.

Things I tried with a new character...
- Ran there as soon as I got Torrent -> he invaded
- Tried leveling up to over 30 (maybe he is level limited) -> but he invaded anyways
- tried to kill at least 5 bosses anywhere including Margit and Godrick the grafted -> he still invaded me
- Set foot in Liurnia of the Lakes region and talked to Thomps -> still invaded me
- went to Caelid and fought invader Anastasia -> still invaded
- killed Varee to maybe proof a tie to this guy? -> still invaded

So either this guy always invades as soon as you triggered him once, or the trigger to his disappearance are so vague that nobody could link it yet. Or its just bugged at a certain point. Nice job FromSoft

It seems there is some of trigger for this invasion. I believe it may be talking to Diallos in Academy Town (Liurna), as he mentions the recusants by name. You may also need to talk to him again in Roundtable after this but I was invaded after this by going to mentioned area.

Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

It's save to say it is bugged.. I tried everything to make him despawn on my second character and I could not reproduce the missing invade of my main character. Even rushed every little tiny bit of progress of my 50hr save with my second character and it all just comes down to this char he invades and the other it does not.

His armor is tree surcoat, bought by traveling merchant in yellow area of map on a bridge, greathelm is bought southern caelid by a traveling merchant along side the road

Has everyone who isn't getting invaded been to Volcano Manor before visiting the area? I only came to explore after getting quite late in the game but noticed he has Recusant in the name, just like the Recusant finger you get from the manor.

Things that didn't work to make him spawn:
Waiting until nightfall and reloading the area (supposed to make a guy spawn in the warmaster's shack, but he didn't show up either?)
Setting the game to offline mode, quitting to desktop, and reloading (this did not prevent Bloody Finger Nerijus from spawning)
So...don't waste your time like I did.

I was wondering, as it appears that Henricus is not linked to Margit or Godric, the other thing that I have done is beating the tutorial boss. Is it possible that a bug makes him not invading because of that ?

He's not spawning for me. I beat Margit & Godrick. Made a second character just to see if he would spawn if I hadn't killed either of those two bosses and Henricus DID spawn. I feel like the triggers for not spawning him are either A) Margit's death OR B) Godrick's. Could be something else but knowing past From games, the boss deaths are the likely culprit.

This NPC might be Bugged. too much inconsistencies.
Some players get him to invade after beating Godrick and Margrit
SOme don't
some just outright crashes their game when he invades.
High chances this must be bugged and patched. He has no questline of some sort he's just there.

Recusant Henricus invaded my game at around 2 1/2 hours played time. I was level 10 and I had not killed any bosses. He's rather aggressive but weak defensively.

Henricus invaded my game after less than 3 hours playtime. I had only leveled up once to hit level 10 as a Vagabond and I haven't defeated any bosses yet or really accomplished much at all. I've killed a bunch of easy enemies and I collected the zone map and talked to a few NPCs. Hope this info helps. I actually thought it was another player at first but after I killed him and noticed he never flasked it dawned on me that it was an NPC.... Doh.

I’d only gotten as far as defeating Margit in terms of main bosses, and I was playing solo when he invaded. He appears where the small red effigy and duelist’s furled finger are located in front of the coliseum. Others have said you need a co-op partner present, but that’s not true.

I think just like in DS3 if you kill the area boss (Margit) NPC invaders won't invade anymore. At least I had him invade every time I was there but once I beat Margit (And before Godrick) he's not invading anymore
