Haligtree Knight is a Humanoid Enemy in Elden Ring Haligtree Knights are the elite defenders of Miquella's Haligtree. They are the heavier counterparts of the Haligtree Soldiers and are typically found in smaller numbers but are nonetheless more deadly.

Knights who have vowed to serve Miquella's Haligtree. They are skilled in using both magical and holy skills, loyally protecting the rotted Haligtree to the very end.

Haligtree Knight Locations in Elden Ring

Haligtree Knights can be found in Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree at the following locations:

  • Two standing on either side of the Putrid Avatar  guarding the passage near the Elphael Inner Wall Site of Grace. Neither of these drop Haligtree Crest Greatshields, despite one of the knights using one. See the Haligtree Crest Greatshield page for more information.
  • Several in the graveyard next to the church, below the Drainage Channel Site of Grace.

If you're a faith user. Burn O flame is extremely useful for these guys and that putrid avatar. Burn O flame if timed right is also great for malenia.

      • Anonymous

It’s not that these guys are extremely difficult, what makes them difficult is IF for some forsaken reason you wanted to fight both knights, the Avatar, and deal with the Ballistas raining down on you makes them impossible. Genuinely asking, did FromSoft actually want us to fight before the entrance to the Site of Grace? Because if so, that’s bull crap. Went inside and cheesed it, took everything out one by one, screw that Miyazaki, why don’t you try and fight everyone there?

        • Anonymous

Another quick-kill option I'd recommend is Vacuum Slice. Spam 3 times immediately and his poise will be broken. He won't aggro until between second and third AOW use, but you still get off the third without taking damage. His poise will also be broken and you can potentially one shot the rest of his health in that special animation attack depending on your weapon (used the Nagakiba)

why do they have Glintstone Pebble? It has no affiliation to the Haligtree or Miquella in any way so why is it here?

            • Anonymous

im runnig on int /dex mage build. Switched my main weapon/talisman to deal with the knights at the root. A Cold Great Stars with Wild Strike AoW.
First, cast Golden Vow (AoW) on dagger. Run within closed / melee range and keep slapping.
Talisman: Bull-Goat + Rotten winged sword
Can only beat them 1 vs 1, the first hit must not land on their sheid.

              • Anonymous

These guys are literally just the Knights that you've been fighting for the entire game (since the first Godrick Knight in the Gatefront Ruins) but with one or two new attack animations and that's it. Like how Redmane Knights can use Lion's Claw - these guys can buff their weapons with holy damage and have Glintstone Pebble. That's it, they just have a lot more health and hit a lot harder. If you can beat any of the other Knight type enemies easily, these guys are exactly the same, just mistakes are more punishing. Also, never fight more than one at a time, aggro/single them out and fight them 1 on 1. This game's combat system is poorly constructed for fighting multiple strong enemies at once so never ever engage 2 on 1. The pair at the Inner Wall can be bypassed by using the upper route directly above them to jump into the building.

I think it is time for a fair evaluation of these knights from a melee player's perspective after reading the comments...

                  1) They share the same move-set as other knights.
                  2) The sword one uses the Sacred Order Ash of War.
                  3) The spear one has a new move in his arsenal, being the glintstone pebble followed up with a magic spear thrust.
                  4) They are aggressive.
                  5) They do a lot of damage.
                  6) They can heal once.

Both share the same weakness. Being their aggressiveness. If this sounds odd to you keep reading. No matter their aggressiveness you want to stay close to these guys at all times.

                  1) The sword one is very susceptible to parries.
                  2) The spear one is very susceptible to backstabs.

Knowing this let's look at the moves that are easily punishable.

                  1) The sword guy always tries to backup and buff. Easy backstab there.
                  2) The sword guy's moves are easy to parry, although backstab fishing works there as well. I find it easier to just parry them.
                  3) The spear guy's new move (glintstone pebble followed up by a magic spear thrust) is easy to punish with a backstab.
                  4) The spear guy's horizontal sweep has a long windup and therefore is easy to parry. Same with the overhead slam and foot stamp followed by a spear thrust.
                  5) In close range of the spear guy move to the shield side since this will move you out of any spear thrust hitbox which you can punish with a backstab. If at range dodge through the first attack of the combo towards his shield side and immediately move further along the shield side to his back for a backstab.
                  6) Both have a few shield moves which are easy to dodge. One being the shield shove and 'get off my back' shield bash. Easy to dodge and punish.

Lastly you can stagger them out of their healing attempt. I managed to do it using a charged attack. The heal with poise is there to punish you for not being in their face and punish their moves. If you punish their aggression they go down fast. Knowing all of this you cannot claim this is an unfair enemy. It is a completely fair fight. The enemy cannot adapt to situations like you can.

Haligtree Knights hate the Cross-Naginata with Blood Tax Ash of War. Punish those infinite poise chuggers. Love to see it.

Talismans: Shard of Alexander/Ritual Sword Talisman/Rotten Winged Sword Insignia/Lord of Blood's Exultation
                    Incantation buffs: Golden Vow/Bloodflame Blade
Flask of Wondrous Physick: Flame-Shrouding Cracked Tear/Thorny Cracked Tear

Helm does drop from knights, in additionto the static location. While farming for the chest piece, the helm dropped for me.

What is this comment section? This is the basic knight enemy with more HP and a heal. How do you struggle with that if you made it to Elphael?

If you're having trouble with two of these guys and the Putrid Avatar, you're better off running past them and getting to the SoG inside

Not pleasant trying to farm these can heads especially at low levels. Best you can do is the poison mist cheese on them (they don't heal) near the inner wall. It's 6 casts for each though so you're going to be there for some time.

I should have expected this but the Haligtree Knights are immune or at leat highly resistant to Bewitching Branch. Stabbed 3 times in a row on ng+4.

The easiest way to kill them as a sorcerer is to continuously cast a full-charged Magma Shoot. Because of pool damage, they are immobile and indecisive whether to defend or attack.

i like the part when they heal themselves entirely and use 2 ashes of war on the same weapon to almost erase my health in 2 hits, definitely not a lazier enemy design than the cockeater sentinel in farum azula fromsoft you enjoy those accolades :)

I LOVE inconsistencies!!!! I love how you get used to the game mechanics and then they throw enemies that are "hard" because they disobey game mechanics at you!

Give one good reason to have 2 of these guys and a putrid erdtree avatar in the same small space? I swear the three piece combo is worse than the crucible knight duo or the godskin duo.

I was farming for a greatshield and one of them dropped an aeonian butterfly it wasn't on the list so I figured I'd mention it.

                                            • Found a way to cheese the Haligtree Knight outside the church that drops the GreatShield - an Easier and more fun way to farm!

First, you will want to approach from the Haligtree Roots Site of Grace. Turn around and go up the elevator. The Elevator being in the UP position is key to the Cheese!

Clear the Church of the bugs on the ground floor... at least the ranged ones on the bottom. (Their ranged attacks are annoying but they are not hard to kill)

Leave the church and head around the corner to the right and find the knight sitting down around.
You will want to Kite the Knight into the church down the tunnel and towards the Elevator, Stay out of range but make sure the Knight is following.

Once you get to the Elevator you should be able to stand behind the button. You may have to move forward to entice the knight down the stairs. There is a Barrier in front of the lift platform that you should be able to stand behind and get some ranged attacks/ spells off. However, the Kight can get behind the Barrier or around it after a bit.
Be prepared to dodge and jump onto the button - this will either cause the Knight to get repositioned on the opposite side of the lift barrier OR cause the knight to try and follow you.... and fall to their death!

The outcomes of this method are the following.

                                              1. You will be able to range attack the Knight to death from behind the barrier

                                              OR

                                              2. You cause the knight to fall to their death

                                              Enjoy!

unfair "mob" having them as a field boss would have made more sense with their current stats, and the fact they have UNBREAKABLE poise (tried even powerstanced troll knight swords, does not cut it) when using their flasks is stupid, try using yours? get cancelled with even a punch, while they tank just about anything while using theirs

TLDR, albinauric archers, fire prelates, the few cleanrot knights in Elphael and these guys need a nerf, alongside that b**** Malenia (also maybe make the shield droppable by everyone of these insead of only those with a sword?)

Use some magic that knocks them off their feet and barrage them right as they're about to recover.

Don't ever let them heal and don't EVER let them buff. Again, high poise damage spells or weapons and quick jump attacks.

The Starcaller Cry ash of war on the Starscourge Greatsword kills them in 3 hits for me on ng+. Then again I'm S-D-I : 60-50-70. They play high pressure so beat them at they're own game. It doesn't really feel fair to the guys but don't give them the chance.

My build was 50%+ physical def from armor and talismans, power-stanced heavy Great Stars hammers, Prayerful Strike for healing, Blood Lord exultation and rotten wing insignia for extra damage. Consumables: boiled crab, physick with opaline tear.

Summon and stay away, watch the show. As a bonus, this mimic can also solo kill Malenia who is nearby.

                                                                    • Anonymous

My way of killing them quick is powerstancing two big weapons and jump attacking until they stagger, critical, etc. Problem is, it's only good for 1vs1. Do it fast enough and they can't even heal but give them time to breathe and they're 100% health again.

They sure as hell didn't skip training. Holy ****.

                                                                      • Anonymous

Probably worth noting that the Haligtree Crest Greatshield does not drop from knights wielding the spear or greatbow (even though they can switch to the greatsword). So if you want to farm that you need to do the ones in the roots, not the ones at the inner wall site.

                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                          • Anonymous

Farming the greatshield from only one Knight was just a pure **** move on Miyazaki's part. The knight can drop his full set, arrows or Miquella's Lily. What on gods green ****in earth does he drop a Lily? That can be found in dozens on places. Who in their right mind would farm it from an enemy when it can be picked up off the ground in MULTIPLE locations. It unnecessarily makes getting the shield harder. Because between the other items he can drop potentially 7 including the shield. Been farming for 4 days now with over 200 discovery and not once has he dropped the shield. Seriously **** you Miyazaki.

                                                                            • Anonymous

I've found that a good way of quickly killing them is to equip the Giant Hunt Ash. This can work if you're fighting two at once, but it will obviously be WAY harder. Fighting two of these with any strat is a nightmare. Anyways. Time it so that your Giant Hunt hits them after they've started an attack so that their shield is down. If timed right, Giant Hunt will do it's thing and they will be having a great chat with the ceiling...then the floor will give them a hard reality check. As they're on the ground and starting to get back up, hit Giant Attack again and you'll launch them back into the air before they can bring their shield up again. Repeat. Once you get it down this will go very quickly. Not a very honorable way to fight, but if you're just farming trying to get the shield, honor means nothing.

                                                                              • Anonymous

                                                                                • Anonymous

For farming the shield, I used Blasphemous blade art to knock him down when he is using his buff skill at the start then a second follow up to kill. Alternatively, You could use and big bonk with Royal Knights resolve and you should be able to two shot him with no problem.

                                                                                  • Anonymous

as a mage, this probably the hardest enemy I fight until now, way harder then any boss. you only encounter 5 or 6 of these in the entire haligtree area, but they r a nightmare to deal with. they can self flask to full health in 1 drink and have insane damage output along with incantation and heavy shield that will make u cry if u fight them head on. with 41 vigor I still die to these bastard in 3 shot if I get hit. certain build like bleed/frost might do better against these type of enemy, as they seem to be very weak against fast rapid attack/guard break.

                                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                                          • Anonymous

They're regenerating themselves over time as well, not just the 100% heal by flask, so if you're more strategic instead of brute force, they'll have healed some of the damage you just did. Thankfully there aren't many, but they make the DS black and silver knights look like a joke.

                                                                                            • Anonymous

Frustrating! The other two knights I farmed for about 1.5 hours earlier and never dropped it.

use a twinblade or a polearm with black flame tornado ash of war, crouch and approach the left one from his back and use the skill, one more time, done. Do it on the other one too.

you can also use the wondrous flask to buff fire damage and poise just in case, ALSO, use shard of alexander for more dmg.

                                                                                                      • Anonymous

Alternatively, at the Elphael Inner Wall site of grace, if you don't want to use summons, you can lure the left one out by shooting it and draw it back in, near the site of grace, but it will take a while longer. Try to make sure that when his hp is getting low, that there is a wall behind him so that you can keep hitting him and he doesn't jump away to heal.

You can position the knight in a way that they are in the corner of one of the pillars inside as well, while keeping pressure. That way it can't get away either.

                                                                                                        • Anonymous

You can spawn a mimic tear or something else to distract one knight and the other, when hitting him the right way, can be backed into a small opening, meaning you can pummel it and when it tries to heal it won't be able to get away. Then when you're done, the second won't be able to heal because of the barrage of attacks between you and your summon.

You can kill both of them and get about 12-13k runes in under a min if you do it right.

                                                                                                          • Anonymous

Too much damage, too much HP, they cast sorceries, buff themselves, use 100% healing flasks at low health, use greatbows, use spears that close large distances quickly. They make the Silver/Black knights from DS3 look like pansy boys. They went too far with these guys, they are mini bosses disguised as regular enemies.

They use spear, or sword, along with the shield. And have a similar move set to other knights, they seem to be resistant to fire, holy, and lighting. I haven’t tried other effects yet. Apparently they drop the knights set except the helm, which increases faith.
