Haligtree Crest Greatshield is a Greatshield in Elden Ring. The Haligtree Crest Greatshield is a Shield that scales primarily with Strength. Greatshields weigh a decent amount and provide the best protection in the game. Greatshields provide a greater value of blocking and protecting one's self from enemy and boss attacks, but greatly increases the weight and reduces the player's mobility. This type of shield works best at reducing damage or guarding instead of parrying.

Possesses high holy damage negation. Yet now, with the Haligtree misshapen, this wondrous rendition is a fleeting fantasy.

Where to Find Elden Ring Haligtree Crest Greatshield

The Haligtree Crest Greatshield Shield can be found at the following location:

Has a 4% base chance to drop from one specific Haligtree Knight in the graveyard beside the church at the bottom of Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree. All other Haligtree Knights, regardless if they wield this Shield, will not drop it.
- To reach the Knight, go to the Drainage Channel Site of Grace, head outside and follow the roots on your left. Drop down onto the first support beam (a flying buttress) that slopes down to the right. Halfway down the buttress, there is a branch to the left that you need to drop down to. Cross the branch and jump/fall onto another buttress. From here, you can fall to the ground directly while taking some fall damage, or jump to the church balcony first and drop from there. The knight can be found sitting underneath the buttress near its base.
- Alternatively, from the Haligtree Roots Site of Grace, turn around and go up the elevator. Once you reach the top, run straight until you're outside the Church. Then turn right, and right again once you get past the corner of the building to find the knight.

  that knight who drops it is surprisingly hard to kill.. third Giant hunt in row broke his stance for critical. For example, Cleanrot knight only takes 2 Giant hunts. Just don't let him attack.

  So I farmed it yesterday, I have 9Arc, used only silver scarab talisman and it took 5 kills to get this shield. Not braging, just adding to statistics.Good luck

  Make the knight non-respawning, increase drop rate to 100%. There, fixed fromsofts putrid game design. People really need to start being more critical of them - almost all the things they were doing wrong in dark souls 1 they're still doing wrong a decade later in elden ring.

  Top 3 in highest guard boost stats of the game, the 2nd highest that can use Shield Bash (meaning it can block hits even at zero stamina without getting guardbroken), and close second to Golden Greatshield for best gboost/weight ratio on greatshields *while* being more asthetically pleasing on more builds; it's certainly hard not to justify the extra weight for this greatshield... or the grind off the singular knight that can drop it.

  I just did the more dangerous method of dashing through the Kindred of Rot mob in the chapel, then combo'd the knight to death with my katana. Doesn't matter day or night. This greatshield also has better guard boost than the one I'd been using for the majority of the playthrough. Well worth it.

  I used the Silver Tear Mask, Silver Scarab, Marika's Soreseal, and the Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot with about 247 combined discovery and still haven't got it after dozens of tries.

  Buffed and Charged Frenzied Burst from the root accessed from the Drainage site. Goes right through his shield so his healing didn't really help him. Only shield I have found a good use for a dragon stone. Big protection vs. Holy damage.

  Sniping him from the root accessed from the Drainage site, it took about 40 tries for me at 45 Arcane with Silver scarab. I had silver fowls feet for about 10 of those but didn't want to kill more birds so just kept going.

  Only took 10-15 kills to get one at 239 Discovery (w/ Silver Scarab, Silver Tear Mask, Marika's Soreseal and Godrick's Great Rune). Dropped at Night, but not until the 10th or so kill, so I doubt the time had anything to do it with it.

  I don't know if it's just bad development or communication or just bad design by FROM, but why make some items drop only from one enemy even though that same type of enemy is elsewhere? Kind of breaks immersion to have such specific rules in your world. So are the other enemies carrying this shield just carrying an illusion? FFS.

  Just took this guy out before he could fully stand up on an 80 Int build in NG+ dual-wielding Staff of Loss and using Night Comet. (Carian Regal Scepter with Staff of Loss in the offhand would probably get the job done too.) I had Ambush Shard as a backup since it would attack from behind the shield and get the boost from the staff, but didn't need it. Also, while not definitive proof, I also got this in the Morning, first try, along with his sword and gloves.

  Shield works with vow of indomitable ash of war which has an extremely long invulnerability window! Farmed with waves of darkness on a greatstars hammer, takes between 2-4 (at 20 int) and got a bunch of no hit kills. Daytime, about 15 tries w/ arcane around 20. At lvl 24 upgrade has 78 (!!!!) Block.
  
  Now, I'm off to kill that $+_)#)#--#! Draconic tree sentinel. I hate him sooooo much.

  Just spent a few hours farming this and finally succeeded. Here's a few things from my experience:
  
  1. As a INT build with Carian Regal Scepter at +10, the Carian Greatsword sliced right through the
  knight. Each hit staggered him, and 5 hits and he was down. No damage taken, no fight, just
  click the left button 5 times.
  2. Morning vs. day vs. night did not seem to make any difference for me, the drop rate seemed
  about the same. I finally got it during the day.
  3. Increasing discovery via the Silver Scarab DID make a big difference with drop rates. Last night
  at Discovery 110 I would get an item drop every 8 or 10 kills. I did about 60 runs. Today (after a good
  nights sleep) I decided to be a little smarter and figured out where to get the Silver Scarab (takes
  less than 10 minutes). With that equipped I was getting a item drop every other or every third kill.
  Much better. Onthe 5th drop I got the shield, so about 10 or 11 runs total this morning.
  
  So, I'm not one of those folks that got it first or second try, and when I switched to night it didn't drop. But
  adding the Silver Scarab definitely helped. Plus, now I have the Scarab for other discovery situations, probably
  should have grabbed it sooner.

  For sorcerers, choose either endless frustration as this guy blocks half of your spell damage thereby draining your stamina, and then heals while you recover stamina so you can try it all over again before he slaughters you or you fall off a cliff and then you get to play a merry round of rune retrieval...
  
  OR go with Magma Shot. Fully charged shots work best. The magma interrupts whatever he tries to do and more often than not he will just stand there repeatedly staggered, and be pushed backward if he attempts to advance or lunge at you.
  
  Rinse in flame, repeat.

  With 98 shield damage reduction on the holy affinity, it's actually worth farming for it's excellent defense against radagon, elden beast and any other holy type enemies you might encounter. The design of this great shield imo is also really good.

  Been farmin this **** for an hour and a half with 243 discovery; got 4 knight greatswords, 6 haligtree helms, 1 haligtree knight armour, 5 haligtree gauntlets, 2 haligtree greaves, a brass shield, 10 smithing stone 7's, and NO haligtree crest greatshield. **** this game man lmfao. whos dogshit idea was it to give the drop chance to ONE knight when like 8 different knights hold it? so damn frustrating, i just wanna look like a paladin, man.

  When I finally got the shield to drop from that darn soldier his eyes were golden and glowing. I know that enemies will randomly spawn with glowing eyes and drop 5x runes sometimes, but the one time it happened when I was farming the shield was the time that the shield dropped. It could certainly be a coincidence, but both events are independently quite rare.
  
  Also, I was farming at night just in case it mattered, and it took me many, many attempts. Also also, transient moonlight obliterates this guy if you've got the stats for moonveil.

  Farmed for about 20min during daylight on an RL1 run with 185 discover. Only got 3 great swords, 3 chest pieces, 3 gauntlets 3 leggings and 4 Miquella's Lily. Passed time to night and shield dropped on very next kill. Can't definitively prove day/night has a difference, just providing more anecdotal evidence.

  Turns out it's super easy (barely an inconvenience) to cheese the knight that drops this. In fact, the wiki almost describes the method in its entirety. Start with this: "To reach the Knight, go to the Drainage Channel Site of Grace, head outside and follow the roots on your left. Drop down onto the first support beam (a flying buttress) that slopes down to the right." Stop here. Once you drop down you can already see the knight to your left, sitting under the nearby support beam. Take just a few steps forward to get in range and you can shoot him from above with a Greatbow, the Loretta's Greatbow sorcery or whatever else you have that can reach him. Make your first shot count because after that he'll put up his shield and negate a large portion of damage.
  
  With Loretta's Greatbow at 87 INT + Terra Magica + Jellyfish Shield + Magic-Shrouding Cracked Tear + Graven Mass Talisman I was able to two-shot him whenever he didn't immediately raise his shield after the first shot. Naturally, your mileage will vary depending on your equipment but you should eventually be able to widdle him down even while he's replenishing his health. I wasn't counting but it probably took like 40-50 tries before I got the shield even with discovery at 200+. But others got it after a couple of tries so, as always, pray to the RNG gods, Tarnished.
  
  P.S. If you don't have any absurdly long-reaching weapons/sorceries I strongly recommend pounding him into submission using Gavel of Haima or any absurdly oversized weapon.

  im glad i checked here, in all of my 100% runs of the Souls-likes there is always at least ONE hyper specific thing that doesnt drop even though you see it every where. or its an item you only see one enemy have and it doesnt look like something you can get, but then it is. :S
  
  some examples: DS1 - Ghost Blade(not the Jagged Ghost Blade), DS2 - the Insolent set and Insolent Shield, DS3 - the *Forked* Pale Tongue and Proof of a Concord *Well* Kept online only items, Bloodborne - Ring of Betrothal(without a glyph)

  first time took me around 10 mins of farming the 2 bois at the inner wall grace with only the placebo scarab talisman. now after 4 hours with talisman and a bunch of silver chicken feet it still wont drop holy ****ing **** worst experience in any souls game

  Much like Banished Knights or any other 'Knight' enemy, Eleonora's Poleblade absolutely erases these lads if you're struggling with them. I was dreading trying to farm for this shield as I didn't even realize it existed until NG+ but I was honestly dissapointed with these Knights after reading so many comments about their god-like prowess. They simply cannot handle the endless poise breaking and knockdown of repeated Bloodblade Dances. Highly recommend when farming.

  The best method I found for farming this: Make an arcane build (shouldn't be farming otherwise tbh) with Mohgwyn's SS, start off at Haligtree Roots, take the elevator up. Crouch sprint to the stairs and use Bloodboon Ritual, it'll kill all of the pests to make the return trip a breeze. Run outside and before you turn the corner to the knight, use Bloodboon Ritual again. Run back take the elevator down to the site of grace and repeat. Took a little bit of time but I got the shield in 30 minutes. Good luck!

  Avoid farming at all costs. I killed over 180 knights, gained 30 levels killing the three knights. If you can avoid the item, just do it. I'm so overleveled at this point there's no point getting it anymore.

  I haven't gotten it myself yet but for people wanting a very easy time without hitting hit, I recommend Mohg's Great Spear with the Fire Scorpion Charm, Alexander Great Shard, Lord of Blood's Exultation and Silver Scarab. Spam the Blood Ritual and you'll never be hit and typically you'll kill him before he can fully focus on you. I'm on Journey 3 and, with a good wondrous physick, you'll only need to cast it twice instead or the full 3 times.

  Okay so 1 more point of guard boost, for 1.5 more weight, does it really worth it? ( this shield seems bigger though, I don't know if it protect more because of that )

  Best infusible greatshield. Top stability under Visage and Fingerprint, decent resistances across the board and best in class holy resistance. If you want an infusible greatshield for each element, Eclipse Crest has best magic, Redmane slightly beats out this one for fire, Golden Greatshield slightly beats this one for lightning, and nothing tops it for holy. It's just so good across the board with extremely good stability. Shame it has such a low drop rate so late in the game, but it's worth farming for.

  I can confirm: this shield against radagon and the elden beast is insane. For radagon you can tank almost all of his attacks (except the attacks where he throws a bolt in the ground and it does a long lasting damage, but this one is rare, only happens toward the end). It's so satisfying to see him charging his hard to dodge attack when he's charching his hammer in the air and thinking (noice, free counter attack). You can now stay in all his AOE and AOE's AOE, and even use them to trigger counter attacks. I'm having a blast helping people with this build. Note that it's a very poorly optimised build, it's a high arcane one with 26 STR + 29 END but I wanted to be able to help people for the end game bosses with this one and how boy is he effective.

  Can Confirm.
  In less than 8 minutes of using the Drainage Channel Grace site... with Item discovery at 197 (using Silver Scarab and Silver Tear mask). On attempt number 5... I looted The Haligtree Greatshield.
  
  For those wondering where the knight "rests"... You'll go outside where you'll walk across a series of branches leading toward a church-like structure. On t he last branch you'll drop down to a balcony. Turn around to it's ledge and look down... you'll see a well armored Haligtree Knight sitting or resting... That's your target. Kill him with all you got, rinse and repeat.

  First post here, been doing this for two hours, i tried the night change, i tried no hit runs... i don't die, just kill, rinse repeat... But no drop this far, so its more luck for those that tried it at night. After patch 1.0.5

  haven't done a greatshield build yet, but I can imagine this one with barricade shield can tame radagon and elden beast rather easily.

  afaik this is the best greatshield in the game within the "reasonable" weight class, so excluding Fingerprint and the flamethrower. Drippy and 99 Holy resist when Sacred; an extremely useful shield

  Farmed this shield for 1h (245 disc) no luck during daytime... Tried just to see if night could change something, as stated by previous posters.... instant drop... go figure; dont know if thats pure RNG or not, worth a try I guess.

  Read a comment about changing the time of day to nightfall to farm @ Haligtee Roots after farming buddy to the right like 30x over even with silver feets and ammy (plus high Arcane from using RoB).. once i switched to nightfall... first try - I **** you not. Maybe RNG or maybe game design?!

  I ALWAYS get this to drop in coop. 3 out of my 5 characters have acquired this shield whenever I'm summoned in the Haligtree. Not sure if it's a coincidence or not

  I can say the drop rate of this shield is absolute horse ****. I guess it's all down to luck because I had a discovery of 260 and I spent 4 days trying to get this. I knew someone who had just like 101 discovery and got it within minutes. Honestly I wish games would stop having enemies with a load of drops or stupidly low drop rates for certain items. Unless it's an absolute god tier game breaking item it should be a random chance that screws over some people to farm for it for literal days.

  well, doing it at night made it for me. but I had one already :P I think it dropped before at the same farm but I didn't pick it up sisnce that shrimp killed me before doing it. but I can confirm. do it at night

  It was not night time when I got my own great shield. It was smack in the middle of daylight that mine dropped. Just keep at it. And make sure it’s strictly the knight next to the prawns church. Easiest and safest approach is from the drainage pipe. Don’t bother setting foot in the aids church.

  Hmm looks pretty but still not as good for all around choice as the trusty Eclipse Crest Greatshield unless you specifically want to block holy, it's 3.5 units heavier, has a higher str req and is lacking the +50 to all resistances. Still gonna farm it to complete the collection though.

  With about 30 arcane + Silver scarab + longtail cat talisman (for faster access to the knight from the roots) + nightfall + never took damage it took me about 30 tries. Didn't saw any effect between "morning" and "nightfall" or with damage and without. Imo just spam kill him and thats it.

  I got this super easy from drainage channel grace, just followed the branch to the structure (idk whats it's called but the bit of castle sticking out) and instead of keep going to the church I went to the bottom of the structure and kept popping the knight with Loretta's bow.
  
  he doesn't seem to self-heal only has minor passive heals but if you wait for him to have a grump at you after being shot once he soon drops his shield and you can shoot him again, takes like 4-5 Loretta bow shots. (also someone mentioned it may have a higher drop-rate for taking no damage while fighting, considering I managed to get this from not needing to get hit and got it in like 5 runs I'd say that theory is holding up so far)

  For me, switching to night does help with getting the shield quicker. Got shield and sword 2nd try. The whole set still takes a while, about 20+ runs. Dealing that one single knight around Haligtree Root is just easier than the 2 outside Inner Wall.

  To help with farming this at night, you could wear black knife set and use unseen form spell. 95% of time the shrimp men and the knight won’t aggro first.

  For what ****ing reason could there be to make it so the two next to the Putrid Avatar DON'T drop this shield????? I cannot wrap my head around what kind of thought process whoever made this decision could've possibly had. So ****ing stupid.
