Smithing Stone [2] is an Upgrade Material in Elden Ring used for reinforcing equipment to +4, +5, and +6. Reinforced equipment boasts better stats. Upgrade Materials can be acquired through exploration, looting it from specified areas of a Location, dropped by a specific Enemy or Boss, given by an NPC, or sold by a Merchant.
Stone used to smith a variety of armaments. A large shard found in plenty.
Strengthens armaments up to +6.
Smithing stone is found throughout the Lands Between, and mining galleries built to excavate it can be found everywhere

Smithing Stone [2] can be found in various locations:
Limgrave
- One found with 5x Smithing Stone [1] inside a statue surrounded by trolls, South of the Warmaster's Shack. Bait the trolls into hitting or walking into the statue to crack it open and access the stones.

- One on a corpse at the bottom of a cliff. The site is full of wolves fighting a Lesser Runebear. Elden Ring Map Link.
- One on a corpse in Highroad Cave. [Map link]
- One in a chest in the center of the Mistwood Ruins. [Map Link]
- One on a corpse by a cliff near the water, to the south of the Church of Dragon Communion.
Stormveil Castle
- Found behind some explosive barrels on the top level of the castle walls, accessed from the Rampart Tower. [Map Link]
- Found on a corpse lying on the western outsides of the castle walls. Reachable by climbing on the broken sections nearby. [Map Link] Video Location
- Held by a corpse on the roofs surrounding the Rampant Tower.
- One held by a corpse at the castle grounds. Specifically, outside the room where Nepheli Loux is located, passing the wooden barricades to the west and up the stairs on your right. [Map Link] Video Location
- Found alongside 5x Smithing Stone (1) inside a statue outside of Liftside Chamber, next to an omen and a dog. To access the stones, have the troll outside of Secluded Cell follow you to to the statue. Make sure to kill all of the enemies in between.
- Stormveil Castle in one Dark Alley before the troll. Video Location
- 3 can be found on a corpse on a wooden platform above where the Teardrop Scarab near the Secluded Cell is located.
Weeping Peninsula
- One on the main road in the east. Found on a corpse amongst creatures scavenging the broken cart. [Map Link]
- Castle Morne: From the main courtyard entrance, head up the steps on the left. Found on a corpse amongst skeletal dogs. [Map Link] Video Location
- Castle Morne: After taking the ladder at the back of the courtyard to the top level, you will find another ladder to the right leading to a middle level. Follow the path towards the end where a Misbegotten is chopping up a corpse. The Smithing Stone can be found on this corpse. [Map Link] Video Location
- Castle Morne: Inside a building known as the Rampart Gaol at the back of the castle. This is the same building with the Whip and is accessed by walking atop the western walls at the back of the castle from the "Behind the Castle" Site of Grace. There is a building to the left with a blue roof. Jump onto this roof and then down to the cliffs below. Follow the cliffs southeast until you return onto a section of the castle with a square opening. Descend into the opening by using the wooden beams below. Liurnia of The Lakes
- 5 total can be found throughout the Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnels. [Map Link]
- 3 in a gazebo with a statue to the west of Boilprawn Shack. The gazebo can be seen on the map. [Map Link]
- 3 found on a corpse by a Giant Crab south of the South Raya Lucaria Gate grace. [Map Link]
- 3 in a gazebo with a statue and blue plants, directly east from the Temple Quarter grace. This gazebo doesn't show on the map.
- 2 on a corpse next to some crabs, just south of Folly on the Lake grace. [Map Link]
- Lakeside Crystal Cave: Looted from a corpse from the lower levels of the cave before the Fog Gate [Map Link]
- Tesu's Rise: 3 can be found inside of a gazebo surrounded by lobsters South-East of Testu's Rise (West of East Gate Bridge Trestle)
- West of Rose Church: Three are found inside a small gazebo. [Elden Ring Map Link]
- Village of the Albinaurics: 2 can be found on a corpse being eaten by crabs between a wall and a tree. [Map Link]
- In a gazebo Southwest of the Highway Lookout Tower. [Map Link]
Siofra River
- Siofra River: Found on a corpse dangling from the edge of the upper platform of a ruin. [Map Link]
- Siofra River: Three found on a corpse laying just underneath the ledge an Ancestral Follower is standing on. [Map Link]
- Siofra River: Three found on a corpse slouched at the base of a tree near the large collapsed pillars. [Map Link]

AnonymousA little farming spot is the camp at the entrance to Liurnia. From the grace site with the merchant ride to the camp and kill the 2 knights near the back entrance and ride back to the grace. Drops stones 1,2 and if you are lucky 3. Also the grace site has smoldering butterfly and mushroom gather spot.

It's a rare drop from the Radhan Soldiers who are fighting against giant dogs before the bridge to Redmane Castle.
They drop Smithing Stone (3) and (4) too

There is only *ONE* Smithing Stone [2] on the east road in the cart wreckage surrounded by Misbegotten. I've followed this wiki for a while, and used it for many runs and this information has not been updated and it has been 4+ challenge runs worth of time seeing this misinformation here still. PLEASE update this

You can trail the troll near the Secluded Cell candle to the statue with a glowing crack near Liftside Chamber for Smithing Stone[1]x5 and Smithing Stone [2]x1.
Leveling Armament from +4 to +7 requires 12 Smithing Stone ( 2 )

Some of the soldiers before the Godrick boss fight drop Smithing stone 2 it is rare though killed them 5 times only got 2. Probably the earliest area you can farm them.

You can get all 12 in Liurnia Lake, 3 from the merchant at the Lack Shore grace, 3 from the gazebo surrounded by sleeping lobsters north-west of Prawn Shack, 3 from the gazebo west of Rose Church and 3 from the gazebo east of Temple Quarters or west of The Academy(this gazebo doesn't show up on the map as a hexagon) it is surrounded by giant poison plants.

Did they remove the option to buy them at Isolated Merchant Weeping Peninsula? I'm on 1.03 and he sells everything on the list BUT the smithing stones. I definitely have the right merchant at the right location.

You can farm smithing stones 2 from the sludge enemies at the "Behind Castle" Grace Rest point. Its a rare drop but its possible

If you go to Linuria Highway North (just south of the South Raya Gate), you'll find two of the Raya knights fighting some ghosts. You can use a silver fowl foot, kill them, and respawn them a couple more times before the item runs out. Low drop rate, but is doable.

Island with the church of dragon communion - there's a smithing stone (2) a bit NE from the white scarab with the somber smithing stone. It's on the wide grassy ledge between a fall into the sea and cliff to the higher part of the island.

Dropped by Godrick Soldiers with Cuckoo Surcoat (Blue-Red), near the South Raya Lucaria Gate. Be advised, very low drop chance. They Drop Smithing Stone [3] too.

You unlock the the ability to purchase Smithing Stone (1), and (2) from a bell you give the maidens. You get the bell from final boss "RAYA LUCARIA CRYSTAL TUNNEL".

Absolutely suffering farming these if you're trying to get them before entering Stormveil or setting foot in Liurnia. Your literal only option is to farm the Radahn soldiers in Gael Tunnel. On the plus side, you will also get tons of (4)s from killing the miners in there, as well as a few rare (3)s, but (3)s are better farmed from the Flame Chariots in Caelem Ruins, which have roughly a 10-20% chance to drop them.
