Greatbow is a Greatbow in Elden Ring. The Greatbow scales with Strength and Dexterity and is a good weapon for long distance attacks. All Greatbows require Great Arrows to fire.
Enormous greatbow larger than any man. Can not be drawn with any ordinary level of strength, but the force of its shots is extraordinary.
A greatbow can only fire great arrows.

Here are some points to say about this GREAT weapon:
1 - Very light for a sniping tool.
2 - All you need is Through Through to snipe better and to pierce enemies shields.
3 - Very nice damage when you're Quality player.
4 - Generously good if you put Rains of Arrow against big enemies that don't move too fast.
5 - Able to be pulled while jumping, so it makes you being able to slightly move while starting up.
Conclusion: worthy a try.

There should be an AoW named Roped Arrow: "You tie a rope to the arrow and fire it. If the arrow miss any enemy it is pulled back and recovered; if an enemy is hit, it is pulled a bit forward the player and you have 20% chance to recover the arrow.".
Rain of arrows has a narrow spread, lower fp cost, and higher per arrow damage than Radahns so this ends up being a better general use bow than lions imo.

Use it not for your main shots but rather as a way of using rain of arrows. Aow is relatively silent in comparison to radahn bow, so people won’t be alert when you launch it

Greatbow users! How do you use this? A guess for starters: Sniping on a mostly dex build that doesn't want the weight (or the 16 str?) for a golem greatbow. Maybe for the knockdown /cliff knockoff for some enemies? Do you use Bloodboil or Exalted flesh with it?

Seeing as how the scaling grades act more as thresholds than hard values, does this thing scale better with Strength or Dexterity, or are the scalings truly equivalent?

Can also be infused with "Rain of Arrows" Ash of War. Found near the Magic Golem who shoots laser beams on the cliff in Northern Caelid. Requires the "Redmane" Painting found in Selia, Town of Sorcery.

It also drops from the Leyndell Knight in the area below Gransax's Spear. He's sitting down near a little gazebo, with a Perfumer on the other side. I've had it drop from him 2x and recorded it the 2nd time if y'all need proof of that.

put on rain of arrows and farm a couple golem arrows. congrats you are now a walking air strike machine

Should be able to be infused, would’ve been awesome to give it a magic infusion for innate magic damage, or Heavy or Keen for a reliable ranged weapon for melee builds.

"This weapon can be infused with ashes of war"...
Would be nice to have a list with which ones, you know, like all the other weapons have.
- Anonymous
Hey if this can be infused does that mean you can use the scaling whetblades on it?
- Anonymous
So I am trying to give this bow Mighty Shot but I can't. I have the Ash of War for it. So is it not compatible?

More love to bows... best scaling is D and D. /s
Why do they have bows in the game? The only reason to use them is build up/proc for different things.
I am doing a Pharis Gamertag, and this is really effing sad.
It looks like I can use this with 14 STR? Is that because I'm "two handing" it when in use?

By the way this bad boy is *amazing* with the rain of arrows ash. Only uses one great arrow per cast, but hits many times. Works best on bigger enemies but damn!

can confirm the knight in front of Fort Gael in Caelid that shoots at you does drop this
- Anonymous
Is this weapon bugged? I have enough stats to use but is does not want to fire. I've tried all different arrows and even tried bolts but it just wont fire a projectile. Not sure if bugged or if I'm doing something wrong?

Anyway to speed run this bb early game? Just after beating Margit?

Can confirm the knight by altus plateau junction drops this, and he had sword and shield out so that's irrelevant. Got on 6th kill... Happy farming

it says this weapon can be infused with ashes of war but the bow specific AOW pages dont list greatbows as compatible… anybody wana try testing this?
- Anonymous
Dropped the weapon just outside of Fort Geal, took 2 hours though, anyone know *what* ashes of war are compatibil?

"From chest at the Highway Lookout Tower to the north of Divine Capital", The High Way Lookout is near the Liurnia lake north of Stormveil Castle no where near the Royal Capital and does not have a Greatbow (I've scoured it several times) what was the editor smoking when he wrote that....
Can someone remove that section

Guaranteed in chest at the top of the Highway Lookout Tower, north of the Outer Wall Battleground grace point

You can easily farm this weapon from the Leyndall Knight near Altus Highway Junction

Anyone know if this drops from the greatbow knight hanging around Atlas Plateau?
- Anonymous
I found some kind of "Beastman" that are using bow that looks like this, although farmign them for few hours didn't give any drop, so it might be dead end
so its advantage is the versatility, wanna fight a dragon(harpoon is usable) or big enemy like metyr - use rain of arrow, wanna fight an enemy and do more damage - put through and through
