Lone Wolf is a Wildlife Creature in Elden Ring. Lone Wolves are hostile creatures, even if not attacked. Despite their name, Lone Wolves are commonly found within packs, often at night or in caves, and will occasionally ambush their targets by dropping from trees or high places.
A small pack of 3 Wolves can be summoned for aid as spirits by using the Lone Wolf Ashes.

Elden Ring Lone Wolf Notes & Tips
- Wolves have the same move-set as dogs in previous Souls games, but a greater reach. All packs have a pack leader usually distinguished by its white fur, called a Direwolf.

Why do dogs looked messed up in Elden ring but wolves look normal? How do they ambush us from the sky? Why is wind kicked up when they do so? Why do they help godrick’s army?
So many questions.

I am assuming their name is supposed to be ironic considering these are never alone.

Be careful around lone wolves. They're known to hunt in packs.

Seems that killing wolves sometimes spawns a extremely strong and aggresive orange wolf
beware of that

The wolves are not inherantly hostile to you. You can ride by on horseback and they will not attack, you can get close to some and they will take a defensive posture and start to circle but still wont attack. Its only when the pack leader decides its done with you, or you attack them, that they get fully hostile, in my experience as someone who refuses to kill non-hostile animals.
