If you've been through the 3 Fingers' ritual, when you sit at the Forge of Giants' site of grace (just before traveling to Farum Azula, when you listen to the fire), you can see Tragoth's faint outline surrounding yourself.

How is he an "enemy"? He assists us vs radagon and also vs the golden horse knight chap at the capital rampart. I feel a tad stupid becuase i used to put my summon sign down at the golden horse guy, and he was always there too... I thought it was another player and would always wave to him.

I might make an alt account with the same, if possible or similar name (like the great horned targon, or the great thorned taragoth or the grape horned terror-goth) and use that same brick hammer and cross bow and have suckers guessing which is the real fellow?? Its like a sci-fi plot.. And at the end of the battle the player will be pointing a gun at us and saying "which one is the real taragoth?!? Which one!!

He's really not reliable at all during the Draconic Tree Sentinel fight. One second he's tanking and staggering it, the next second he's backing up behind you to shoot a crossbow, while the draconic sentinel shoots fireballs at you, and he just watches.

The dumbest NPC i've summoned thus far. Won't aggro Draconic Tree Sentinel in front of Leyndell unless he's within covid range of the boss. Will also de-aggro and walk towards you like a squirrel crossing a busy road. I have to hold Targoth's hands to the welcoming hooves of this horse if I want him to do anything but stand around wasting space.

I wonder if the reason patches wants you to kill him for him is because Tragoth has helped Patches in the past, his dialogue after you kill Tragoth sounds like there's more too it than Patches just being scared of how strong the guy is.

As like all other assassination targets, we don't have much, if any, to do with them aside from assassinations, and they drop unique armor sets that can only be obtained this way. Why Miyazaki, why?

If you haven't fought Tragoth yet as part of patches quest his summon sign will be available to you to help with the Tree Sentinel guarding Leyndell Capital as well! now i'm curious if any of the other people you invade for Tanith help you with something as well? (The Raging Wolf, Juno Hoslow, Istavan i know helps you with something i just forget what it was he helped me with but yeah! crazy!!)

This page should add that you get the "casual greeting" gesture upon summoning him before a boss battle such as Magma Wyrm Makar.

One of the easiest strat to kill him early on is to use Lance as it outranges pretty much all of his attacks and staggers him

Gotta say pretty stupid that this whole npc/quest/armor and a BUNCH of other stuff is locked behind an npc that drops in on you like a boss and attacks you but you are only supposed to hurt him, not kill him. I was not high level or very far in the game and I easily killed Patches before he ever "cowered in fear" or anything else to indicate he was no longer hostile. Compare to Gurranq who resets his position to keep you from annihilating him. I mean seriously, Taniths follow up quest, etc, so much gone because of this stupid s*** idea FS had to make one guy extremely killable and ruin that playthrough forever. So much fun, great game design. Boggart being incredibly easy to F up is another example. Does not make me want to do another playthrough, it makes me want to hack my PC copy and spawn in all this crap because I have a wife and a job and a life, I'm not some basement dweller with unlimited free time to play 500 hours of one game.

Wow - I just beat the game and already finished off Valcano manner. Patches never even offered me an assasination.

Maybe it's cause I went full murder hobo in limgrave and killed Bernahl (killed all the nomadic merchants) - in fairness I thought he was the bell bearing hunter that spawn at night and thats why I thought i needed to kill em.

Shame though - that decision locked me out of alot of armor (fashion) choices - Bull Pants look hott.

He does not give the gesture when summoned to the Draconic Sentinel fight. I'm not sure why this would be so I assume it's an oversight by FS. Hopefully they eventually notice and fix this.

Tragoth can also be summoned for the Dragonic Tree Sentinel boss as of 1.0.3. My alt character had the summon sign whereas my first character did not, though I have unaware of any other criteria I might have missed/done.

Frankly, i feel bad for killing him. there he is, helping me with Makar and Radahn, and how do i thank him? with an assassination for the volcano manor. had no other choice however, i really wanted his armor, it's the heaviest in the game.
