Dog is a Wildlife Creature in Elden Ring. Dogs are hostile and agile creatures, and will become hostile even if not attacked by players. Dogs are often found roaming the fields of Limgrave, and similar to Wolves, they will chase their prey to great lengths. They are dangerous when alone, but even deadlier in packs.

That’s not a dog. That’s a maidenless unholy abomination in dire need of systematic culling.
There are so many dogs in this game, so why this? Pretty much the only thing that isn’t a dog really.

I found a variant of the dog, it doesn't attack me in liurnia
It also seems to be wearing a jeweled collar and actively tries to run away from me. I left it alone in case there's a quest related reason for it but I didn't even have the beast repellent torch equipped so idk how else to explain it.

Get yourself the beast-repellent torch in Dragonbarrow to stop all them doggos from eating your nuts
Dogs, killing souls series protagonists since the time of Gwyn, even the weakest variant can kill a careless Elden King when come in a pack
