Elden Ring Mountaintops of the Giants Maps and Notes
How do I get to Valley of the Giants Elden ring?
Valley of the Giants also known as the Mountaintops of the Giants is located at the very north-east of The Lands Between map. Players need to access the Grand Lift of Rold with the required parts to operate it in order to use it as a lift to the Mountaintops. This lift takes you to two different locations depending on the Medallion you've selected. This could take you to the Mountaintops of the Giants or Consecrated Snowfield which is a secret area on the lower plains of the Mountaintops of the Giants, that can only be accessed through this lift by collecting both parts of the Haligtree Secret Medallion.
To take the Grand Lift of Rold to the Mountaintops of the Giants you will need the Rold Medallion. This item is given by Melina after you defeat Morgott, The Omen King. Talk to her in the Site of Grace on the battlefield, after failing to enter the Erdtree. Once you do, she will give it to you. [Map Link] This area will not be accessible before this progress point.
- Location: Grand Lift of Rold
- Items Required: Rold Medallion

99% of the lands between: maidenless.
An overprotected shack hanging over a cliff: Sol.

Does this area occasionally have terrible lag for anyone else?

I like this region and Consecrated Snowfields way better than the beginning of the game. Although I will say the best part is definitely Altus Plateau. Limgrave and Liurnia make me feel like I'm playing a Skyrim-type game. They're so easy, forgiving, and littered with pointless side dungeons. Stormveil and Raya Lucaria are still great, though, so I usually just rush there.

i was bebopping through the area on my horsey and right when i started coming up on the second fire golem, northeast of the ancient snow valley ruins site of grace, i got random dialogue of someone trying to lay siege to the castle sol and mentioning the haligtree medal. it caught me by surprise because i was playing the game muted, but i saw the text at the bottom of the screen. millicent isn't up there yet, and i don't recall the dialogue playing on the dozen plus times i've passed through here on other playthroughs. anyone got any idea who or what it is? i looked around, but didn't see anyone.
If you haven't visited the Subterranean Shunning Grounds prior to this, this is the part where the game starts asking you if you leveled your vigor. If you haven't, have fun getting one-shot by the Zamor warrior walking down the ruins. If you have, then congratulations, you can at least survive 4 hits from these guys.
I would've preferred that the game stuck to a more linear scaling system instead of suddenly jumping in difficulty, but it is what it is.
I see people talk about how this area is disappointingly empty, and while that's a pretty fair argument, that's also kinda the point. It's meant to be a barren wasteland where a great and terrible battle happened. The only things that can even walk these lands aren't even human, save for Niall, who's toiling away in Castle Sol. It's also literally a giant graveyard, as seen with the countless dead Fire Giants ravaged by thorns. Why would any sane human live in these lands?
While definitely not my favorite area, I really dig it nonetheless. I also like to think of it as Fromsoft finally trying to bring the cut 6th Archstone from Demon's Souls into a new light, and I think they pulled it off pretty well, though they could've put in more of their weird enemies that were in the archstone other than putting in giant dogs, crows, and fingercreepers.
Plus you get to reunite the Aurelia with her sister in this area, which is pretty heartwarming. But more importantly, you are rewarded with the gesture where you do a little spin.

Kaiden warriors and zamor knights were better enemies for this area imo.

This area, including Flame Peak and Consecrated Snowfield, seem rushed. Honestly, if they had put everything from Consecrated into Mt. Giants and Flame Peak, it might’ve redeemed this area, maybe. It’s still a boring AF area, and honestly, could be removed and I don’t think anyone would really care.

After I killed Morgoth and realized that the plot was just being recycled (bring Melina to an important semi-divine structure, once you get there you can become Elden Lord, blah blah blah) I thought that the second half of the game would suck.
So far, it seems I was right.Mountaintops is either a barren boring waste of space or the biggest one-shorting enemies convention ever. To top it all off, Fire Giant just ****ing sucks.
I’m hoping that Farum Azula isn’t as bad, but with how the late game as been so far, I’m losing hope.

I've seen comments saying mountaintop of the giants is barren and not fun. I could have done without a medley of elden rings most c**tish enemies myself with the giant crows, t-rex dogs and those f**king finger creepers.
But after crossing from the guardians garrison the giants remains from the war with the erdtree are all over the place, they have petrified over time but you can see the thorny trees that look like they burst through the giant's bodies like something out of Swamp Thing. It is really cool to see and shows how brutal the war with the giants was.

It doesn't mention the tibia mariner or the giant skeleton.

Does the death rite bird that spawns near the bridge to stargazer's ruins have the same move set as the one in liurnia? I'm asking because I killed that one without much trouble but in mountain top of the giants it has a ghost flame attack that was hitting me at very long range and through one of the gravestones I was crouched behind for a lot of damage, it looked like it was coming up out of the ground and it almost killed me in one hit.

Does anyone know how to deal with the scarab beetle hanging from a tree north and a little towards west on the compass near the fire prelate and his b***hes? it's in the area just before the stone bridge.
With every talisman slot and physik either boosting incantations, affinity attacks or FTH I can't kill it with one full charged cast of frenzied burst. It takes most of it's health but enough is left for it to drop from the tree straight down the cliff.
I assume I'm somehow meant to hit it a second time, but I can't see any way of actually doing it.

I don't mind the 2nd half of the game I like Farum Azula and the Haligtree but this location is awful so barren and just unfun sometimes
- Anonymous
The upgrade materials list is missing a Somber Smithing Stone [9]. It's located in the Northern half of the area on the side of the bridge leading to the southern part of the plateau with the tree.

If it's revealed down the line that this area got the Lost Izalith B-team treatment I will not be surprised.

They forgot to mention the super giant fingercreeper. That thing is so massive you just see his outser shell when fighting it xd gl fighting it together with those giant bastards

The rold medallion BTW makes a "true maidenless" run impossible as it's given by melina. Not triggering her at gatepoint makes her not appear after beating morgott.
- Anonymous
In my personal opinion everything past this point was horrible, the only redeeming part after morgott was the ending.
- Anonymous
I get why people are mad about the recycle enemies, but not why ppl are mad that it's empty. It's an ancient secluded frozen waste land, what kind of life would WANT to live there?
- Anonymous
It was here I realised I NEED to put on Dragoncrest Shield Talisman and screw the fashion and put on some heavy armor.

Mountaintops of gigantic boredom.
Worst area in the game. Recycled enemies that don't fit it, boring design. Should have been cut, just go to Farum Azula right after Morgott or something.

What a snoozefest of a zone. It looks great but it's such a nothing area save for a couple spots...but def bored here compared to how fun Leyndell was to explore before it.

What the **** is that ludicrous difficulty spike from Leyndell to Castle Sol. Every enemy is 2 shotting you at 40 Vigor. The Death Rite Bird has Multiple attacks that right out 1 shot you. I hate aggreeing with Dunkey on this one, but holy ****, the damage of this entire area needs to be re-adjusted. And 18+ weapons tickle most bosses, and I have yet to found a single SS8. Miyazaki, what the ever living **** where you thinking?
- Anonymous
Such a horrible area. Too big. Too empty. Nothing but reused enemies. Why is it so lifeless? The frozen lake you fight the dragon on is so freaking huge for NO reason and there's NOTHING ON IT.
- Anonymous
There are so many bloodstains by the Giants' Gravepost grace from people slipping off the chain
The snow trolls found in this area bear an uncanny resemblance to the yetis meant to be in demon’s souls 6th archstone, which coincidentally was going to be a snow area named the land of the giants.
- Anonymous
This area feels so rushed compared to the rest of the game. Just a bunch of reused enemies and bosses randomly placed without any resemblance of balance, especially the Consecrated Snowfield area. This area was the first time I actually just rushed through dungeons and barely did any exploring.
- Anonymous
If anyone else has trouble getting through the graveyard with the giant skeletons: Try to kill the Tibia Mariner who is on a ledge north west of the Snow Valley Ruins Overlook. It appears that once he is dead the giant skeletons stop spawning and you can freely explore this area.
- Anonymous
Was enjoying this area, before it went all "Caelid 2: Bull**** Boogaloo".

They put so many crucial mid game items in this end game zone. Hopefully a remaster balances that

Does anyone know what to do about the dragonkin ghost that keep spawning after you kill them?
- Anonymous
Anyone know who is the enemy that seems to lead a small group of fire monks, but appears to be a big fat woman that uses thorned whips and wearing a pot of fire on her head?
There is also a merchant close to Stargazer Ruins. You can see him sit below the bridge south of the ruins. In order to get to him you need to loop around from west of the ruins.

Missing the "Lord Contender Evergaol. Found right east of the Whiteridge Road grace

Nearby Stargazer Ruins off the side of it there's a little pair of gravestones in an alcove that say "Here lie Aurelia and Aureliette, who never saw the stars" - Does anybody know if this does anything or if it is just a little bit of enviromental decor? I tried summoning Spirit Jellyfish as well as using Elden Stars, even both together, but still nothing.

Is there any way to the small islands you see dotted around the north of the Haligtree areas ?

I found a normal-sized humanoid enemy carrying a treasure chest here, and when I defeated them they dropped a high level golden rune. Does anyone know who this enemy is and if they respawn?

watch out for the hammer fire monk, theres a mace wielding one nearby and she will just shoot at you for 30 minutes being annoying or two shot you with the hammer, absolute garbage design.
