Elden Ring Goldmask Notes & Trivia
- Gives Mending Rune of Perfect Order in Leyndell, Ashen Capital at the end of Brother Corhyn's Questline. Head south-southwest from the Ashen Capital Site of Grace past the round staircase on your left and cross the tree log bridge, heading up the stairs to the south opposite the Giant Miranda Sprout. Goldmask's corpse will be uphill just around the bend, lying in light along the right wall.
- If you go back to his corpse after you get the Mending Rune of Perfect Order, he will drop Goldmask's Set (excluding the Radiant Gold Mask, which can be picked up in the Altus Plateau). [Map Link]

Grossly understates how significant this actually is.

I'm convicted the Age of Order ending is in fact the true ending because completing Goldmask's questline without a guide is next to impossible due to how vague and obscure the steps are compared to the others. Like the devs almost didn't want us to find it.
Finding Goldmask each time has to happen by pure accident as you are not given any indication as to where he is during any stage of the questline. Even getting past the Capital stage requires you to find some random statue (that you also have to find by accident) and know to use a specific high-requirement spell at it (that you ALSO have to find by accident...) with zero direction save for a single vague af hint that the overwhelming majority of first-time players are not going to figure out.
And once you do figure all that out you better hope you have a whopping 37 intelligence to even use the spell, otherwise you're gonna be wasting a couple Larval Tears which are precious and very hard to come by.
For comparison:
Ranni's quest requires a lot more legwork sure but your hand is basically held by all the different NPC's throughout the entire thing.
Fia's quest is also obscure at points but overlaps w/ Ranni's and Rogier's so you have some direction.
Dung-eater's is straight-forward in concept though finding the seedbed curses also happens by chance, and requires you to find the Haligtree which requires some legwork.
Chaos Lord ending is a bit vague but can be achieved pretty quickly since Shabriri gives you the rough location and you just squirrel around underground until you find the Fingers
Given Goldmask's ending is the closest thing we get to a "happy" ending in ER guess it makes sense for it to be the most difficult to get.

Doing the math, astrologer comes out ahead assuming your only weapon is going to be cipher pata and just gold mask armor. You’ll have better mind/end and casting speed too if you pick astrologer over prophet. And the shield you start with as astrologer is even more fitting for the build and is difficult to farm late game.

The muted freak who's the only person who truly "understands" the Golden Order (*cough cough... lore). This is either a shameless mockery or the greatest satire Hidetaka Miyazaki ever created in the Souls game since the Dark Souls 1 Pendant.
PS: Not George R. R. Martin, his only job is marketing, not storytelling or worldbuilding.

One of the few NPCs who has an ending that doesn't involve screwing people over. Dung eater wants equality for the omens, but also turns everyone into omens in the process. Fia wants equality for the undead, but offs D and may-or-may-not have gotten Rogier killed. Ranni wants to separate the world from the influence of outer gods, but killed Godwyn, herself, and her most loyal followers. Goldmask? He wants to fix the golden order, simple as. The only casualty in his plan is Marika/Radagon, which we were going to go kill anyway. Unfortunately beta cuck Coryhn kills him after he realizes what his plan is.

I loved the part when goldmask said "Its elden time!" and ringed all over the place

has anyone else noticed Goldmask being already dead at his first location on the bridge? does anyone know how to keep this from happening? for context, in both NG and NG+1 (all i've done) i started Ranni's questline and swore to her before getting to the Altus Plateau, does anyone know if this triggers Goldmask to die?

I didn't see information on this so I figured I'd add it. If you use, "Law Of Regression" on the statue in Leyndell, Royal Capital it reveals a secret. When Goldmask is at the colosseum in Leyndell you can tell him of this secret. In return he gives you the gesture, "Golden Order Totality." You can then talk to Scribe Corhyn who will sell you the incantation, "Immutable Shield."
I reach a point in the game where Corhyn is basically gone (I got his bell bearing and robe) and Goldmask is no where to be found despite it shows his location on the map.

Costs me two larval tears per run to pick up the t-pose gesture from this questline. Completely worth it

If you are finding that Goldmask is not progressing to the capital, you should check Corhyn's progress first.
Meet Goldmask, talk to Corhyn, follow up with Corhyn in Altus plateau, then check the capital.

Love it when Goldmask said "..." and then ... all over the Elden Ring

What if the Elden Ring was just a metaphor for friendship and all the demigods were supposed to work together to fix the world but everyone just ended up killing eachother and only Goldmask figured it out but Corhyn ended up killing him too, so in the end you're the only one who knows the power of friendship but nobody wants to be your friend

It should also be noted he gives you the "Golden Order Totality" gesture if the Goldmask is told about the secret of Radagon being Marika in Leyndell.

1.08: Due to a bug, this mask doesn't work in pvp: it doesn't give the bonus damage, since the launch of the game. Sadly, the same thing happens with the golden order seal, the 2 talisman that boost incantations (they don't work with holy spells) and every other piece of equipment that boost holy damage (spells, weapons, ability).

Ive gained access to the capital and mountaintops and hes still in Altus Plateau. I wonder what triggers the move.
"Strangely, in earlier versions of the game, he was referred as “Hoarah Roux, the Goldmask.”"
Is there one iota of evidence to back this up? Because I've been playing through the release version of the game again, and nowhere does it mention this. I call BS.

Is my game just effed?
Followed Corhyn's and Goldmasks quest line in three playthroughs and I can't get Corhyn to show up at the Ashen Capital. His item drops are on the bridge in the Mountaintops. I've only given Corhyn the memory elixir in the first run. 2nd and 3rd been trying to finish it out and neither of them or their bodies spawn. I am using Seamless Co-op but I haven't found anyone else having this particular issue.

So he was supposed to be Hoarah Loux and they shoehorned the name to the Godfrey's sudden double identity. Can't wait for interviews to dissect why the lore structure is so incoherent.
- Anonymous
To progress his questline past Lyndell, you need to cast Law of Regression, https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Law+of+Regression, on the Marika statue. After that, go back and talk to Corryn and Goldmask, where they will then move to the next location. If you don't have the required int, and don't want to respec, there's a list of items and buffs you can use to cast it with a very low int on the Law of Regression page.

Make no mistake, this character only exists so Miyazaki doesn't have to explain what the Greater Will really wants.

Everyone says that goldmask is coming up with his order on his own cause he's arguing with the greater will. I don't think this is entirely true, I believe that unlike those before that just sit and listen without true understanding cause the failings. The fingers just regurgitate whatever the will says, not asking questions, just sitting there perfectly still likely listening to the will afraid to ask questions. Then you have goldmask who digs deeper into what the greater will actually desires. Seeking greater understanding of what needs to happen to fit the greater Will's designs. It explains why he seeks to make a greater golden order rather than something entirely new. He didn't just hear, he listened and he made sure he understands.

Corhyn left the Roundtable, and I never saw him again. I beat the entire game, and then saw something about a Goldmask NPC and Corhyn.
I remember Corhyn and find his dead body in the Altus Plateau. I can't find Goldmask at all anymore, even though I've been checking each location. Does he just straight up die and fade away without a trace?

Hoping someone can help me out here. I progressed Goldmask and Corhyn’s story to the point where they were on the cliff in Lyndell talking about Radagon. I did not solve that “Law of Regression” puzzle until after I beat Morgott and the Fire Giant boss.
At that point I returned to the cliff and despite the map having Goldmask’s icon there, he is actually not there and all I found was Corhyn’s Bell Bearing in where they used to be. I can’t seem to find Goldmask anywhere. He is not at the next location which is supposed to be on the bridge by Stargazers Ruin. Did I mess up this questline?

Interesting to note, you can miss Goldmask in the Mountan of Giants entirely, burning the Urd Tree and claiming the Rune of Death from Maliketh, and still get the perfect order rune if you told him the Radagon/Marika conundrum... I was terrified that I'd missed the opportunity to get his quest after clearing Farum Azula, but his rune was right there.

It's not access to Leyndell that causes Goldmask and Corrhyn to leave the Forest-Spanning Greatbridge, unless using the teleportation trap on the Weeping Peninsula counts. I don't know what the trigger is, but I have not gotten into the city proper and they are gone.

Someone pointed out to me that when the Two Fingers commune with the Greater Will, they must be still.
When Goldmask communes with the Greater Will, his fingers move and twitch.
He's arguing with the Greater Will.
And winning.

This npc is practically a revolutionary figure in terms of endgame lore, was heavily prominent in the marketing and promotional materials, and yet I've never run into him and had to look up how and where. Turns out the first place you can meet him is the first place I WENT in the Altus Plateau and who did I see? Grandma and a homeless man. But no sunflower cosplayer, so that was a lie!!

My boy dagoth got yeeted so hard by skooma addicted murderhobo he ended up in another universe and t-poses ever since. How the mighty have fallen...
Allow me to take a moment and express the sheer awe and wonder that Goldmask fills me up with whenever I am in his presence. Everytime I hear the name "Goldmask". the epitome of significance, charm, and charisma in the Lands Between. Who wouldn't be absolutely riveted by the words of wisdom this mighty figure bestows upon us. We should abandon our destiny of Elden Lord and instead worship this saint in a realm beyond. Ordinary mortals waste their time pondering the mysteries of the universe or striving for meaningful accomplishments. Goldmask is out there sipping fine wine from a Gold plated chalice while pointing at a ****ING tree. What could be of more importance than a man whose most defining characteristic is their choice of facial accessory.
