Ensha of the Royal Remains or Ensha is an NPC in Elden Ring. He will refuse to speak to the player, but instead stare at them. He is the servant of Gideon Ofnir.
Ensha of the Royal Remains Location in Elden Ring
Ensha of the Royal Remains can be found at Roundtable Hold, directly to the right of the entrance of Gideon Ofnir's room.
Ensha of the Royal Remains Questline: How to complete Ensha's Quest
Upon first interaction, players obtain the What Do You Want? Gesture.
After obtaining either half of the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right or Left), Ensha becomes an NPC Invader and ambushes the player the next time that they teleport to the Roundtable Hold. Defeating them rewards the Clinging Bone and the Royal Remains Set, which must be obtained by returning to where Ensha was originally standing, outside of Gideon Ofnir's room.
A new dialogue will unlock with Gideon, where he apologizes for Ensha's behavior "as his master"
Dialogue in Elden Ring: Ensha of the Royal Remains
Ensha of the Royal Remains does not speak. This character maintains an attentive attitude while leaning against the wall.
Elden Ring Ensha of the Royal Remains Notes & Trivia
- He uses the Clinging Bone as his main weapon, frequently using its skill, Lifesteal Fist. He also uses the Meteorite Staff in his offhand, casting Collapsing Stars and Rock Sling.
- Gideon's Talk of Ensha after killing him.
"Oh, my apologies for that nasty business. Ensha got rather ahead of himself, it seems. As his master, I'd like to express my regret. But now, Ensha is slain and gone. Finished, forever more."
- Possibly referred to as "The all-hearing" by the Finger Reader Crone at Raya Lucaria Academy bridge.
- Ensha was likely ordered to slaughter those in the village, for the purpose of finding the Haligtree Medallion’s half. However, he was unsuccessful as it was kept by a disguised Albus. The Tarnished is invaded after obtaining it, presumably because Ensha wishes to steal the medallion.

I teleported back to the roundtable after getting the rivers of blood, planning to level it up a bit and test it afterwards. After i teleported i saw the dark roundtable and i was like:"does some kind of bad stuffs happen after i killed the bloody fingers or something?" And this edge lord just straight up rushed at me and i almost had a heart attack.
He became my first tester i guess

love how everyone's collective experience is confusion, then a quick beating, when this lil' goomba invaded. good times

Man that was a surprise. I go back to roundtable and everything is dark and all the sudden I get stabbed once… did two L1 attacks and he died. Had no clue who it was or what happened
- Anonymous
The guy died so fast I couldn’t tell he was the one I was fighting lol. I paused my game to take a drink after arriving at the round table and was in for a surprise when the music was different lol.

Does he not invade sometimes? Because I got both halves of the medallion, but when I went back to the roundtable, he didn't invade and instead just disappeared, and Gideon didn't have any voiceline about him.

Gideon knows we've acquired the Haligtree medallion before we can tell him ourselves. Most likely he ordered Ensha to spy on us, then kill us and bring him the medallion. When Ensha fails, Gideon simply enlists us to find the other half of the medallion, explore the Haligtree and bring back the intelligence he needs to complete his research on the hidden demi-gods. You've got to admire his ruthless pragmatism.

How do I get his armor set when I already got both Medallions before coming back to the Round table? Because I've got both and he didn't invade me the next time i was there.
- Anonymous
he’s described as lord of the lost and desperate.. perhaps Gideon summoned him somehow, in his desperation, to do his bidding
- Anonymous
So erm let's just say that I'm doing a pacifist run and forgot he invades you after the alb village is there a way to access the roundtable and most importantly roderika without killing him or by bugging him out of the map
- Anonymous
Y'know what's weirder...... It's the fact that ensha uses body type B (female body type) despite being considered "he" according to Zullie...... Don't believe me? Check her Twitter

I slapped the **** out of Ensha when he invaded. Like who tf are you bro? Easy work.

He doesn't invade you if you kill Gideon before getting the haligtree medallion.

Idk why but this guy reminds me of lautrec…except less attractive and more edgy

I checked the armor description, Ensha is some lord of the lost and desperate? soulless king?? ...yet he doesnt talk, and doesnt exist in the game, beyond giving a gesture and being a weak foe during some nonsense invasion. Just dismissed as trash by his master, gideon the all knowing...just a massive disappointment.
just erase that. Some king he turned out to be. He does do gideons dirty work, but thats no soulless king. Where is his army and what not? His armor is a fashion only joke. 2 regen per second that only triggers below 18% life? You dont even leave one shot range

Is there possible way to not kill him. i am doing a pacifist run and i need latenna as a spirit summon but i won't be able to upgrade her if ensha would invade in the roundtable. is there like a cheese or a way to not directly damage him?

Shame there isn't much to this guy. Would have been more interesting if there was something akin to the assassin guy in fire link from dark souls 3. Forget his name but I think he gives you invasion stuff. Think he eventually becomes hostile, not sure. But yeah just felt this guy might have had stuff cut idk.

NG+ was playing with a dual colossal sword set up that I did not have the stats for. Teleported to the round table and all the talismans/my great rune deactivated when he invaded. Fat roll + no damage. Needless to say, the next time I came back I brought down the wrath of god on this piece of s***

perfect set for grim reaper build alongside with grave scythe

Weird. I have half the medallion, but Ensha has never become hostile.

if you Do the redacted to the Erdtree and the Hold is Burning, He doesn't attack you

Killed me a couple of times when he first came to life, but I didn't drop my runes for some reason - which is lucky as I was carrying 20k to the Roundtable Hold to level up. Anyone else found they were allowed to keep their runes?

Gideon is the all-hearing, not Ensha. Ensha is just Gideon's assassin. Gideon's helm has ears all over it and he was buried with eyes and ears.

He invaded me without me obtaining either of the medallions, is their any other way it can be triggered?

Scared the **** outta me when i entered the roundtable hold and it was dark. I one shot him though and felt like a ***** for being scared

How is he allowed to attack us in the roundtable? I thought the reason dung Eater couldn't attack us was because of a pacifism enchantment. He talks about the serenity of this place. But Ensha is stronger then dung Eater?

"This character is commonly known by the community as Edgelord." Lmfao.

He will not invade if you get a piece of the medallion after gideon and other npcs leave the roundtable
- Anonymous
Ensha can murder your npcs at roundtable. I found two dead. Corhyn one of them. I had reach malenia boss door and crumbling ruin before returning to roundtable. Did not get invaded got lift piece sol piece first

'Ensha was ordered to slaughter those in the village, for the purpose of finding the Haligtree Medallion.'
I was wondering where this info is given to the player, any one?
- Anonymous
I keep assuming this is a woman for some reason, idk the skull gives me female skeleton
- Anonymous
So i'm having this debate with someone who calls Ensha a legitimate boss fight, just because it says "great enemy felled".
- Anonymous
is there another way of getting his armour when he never invaded you?
- Anonymous
Managed to beat the game without triggering his invasion. He disappears from roundtable hold at the same time Gideon does. Did not leave anything behind and haven't seen signs of him anywhere else.
- Anonymous
He attacks when you have either Haligtree Secret Medallion. If you get the Left one first, Gideon's dialogue afterwards will point you to the Village of the Albinaurics.

Beautiful lore i almost cried truly the most tragic and deep character in all soulsborne series i tip my hat to you george senpai for this beautiful writen character.

Ensha carries a meteorite staff and uses Collapsing Stars spell during invasion.

Ensha is referred to as “he” by Gideon when you ask him about it.
- Anonymous
Went to the forge of giants then collected both halves and made it to the haligtree before going back to the hold, Ensha just disappeared
- Anonymous
If you lit the forge, and then take the half medallion he will just vanish and never invade you
- Anonymous
what happens if you never trigger the invasion from Ensha and reach the bossfight against Gideon? Will it be a double bossfight, Gideon and Ensha?

Does the finger reader say something different if you talk ti her before killing Ensha?

"Role: Lore"
There's more lore in the aftermath of a Taco Bell five-layer bean burrito, lmao

If you never collect the right half of the Halitree medallion he will attack when you collect the left half from Castle Sol.

Getting the left half of the medallion also triggers their invasion if you haven't picked up the right half yet. My game crashed after this happened, though that might have just been me.

amazing. teleported to the table wanting to spend some runes, started stripping to change armor and this guy attacks me. After killing him and wondering what the hell just happened, i find edge lord's armor in his little spot. I couldnt remember his name (the npc that attacked me) and tried googling what happened to "edge lord" and it brought me here! I love this community
- Anonymous
Just googling "Elden Ring edge lord" yields this page as the second result... I have never seen a community achievement more beautiful than this. That, and the fact that somebody on the wiki felt it important to add this to his trivia: "This character is commonly known by the community as Edgelord"... I just can't....

this MF right here, I came here completely naked, no weapon, no armor, low health, bunch of runes, and I find this ****er. FML.

This set is the best with Red- an Blue-Feathered Branchswords. You are ridiculously overpowered below 20% HP and then you are continously regenerating it back. You may even want to skip upgrading your Flasks so you would stay in the treshold all the time.
- Anonymous
I have a theory that when Ensha attacks you, it's actually in the roundtable hold in lyndell. Which is why it's dark and there isn't anybody else around. As for how you're taken there instead of the regular roundtable hold, idk maybe they have some ability that draws you in similar to that item you can use to lure invaders to your world.
Gideon Ofnir seems to talk about Ensha in the present tense, even after you "kill" him... Is he actually dead?
- Anonymous
Wow what an *******. Just wanted to take credit for finding it.
- Anonymous
He also attacks you if you get the Left Haligtree amulet first.
- Anonymous
I googled "how to fight edge lord elden ring" and found this page lmao
- Anonymous
At first I thought this guy killed everyone. Luckily all the other NPCs were just hiding in a broom closet
- Anonymous
It's a guy, so why is he referred to as 'they'? Kind of ridiculous
- Anonymous
may have found a bug during his invasion. when I led him into the finger room he ended up attacking the chair where the two fingers were.
- Anonymous
Is Ensha "the all-hearing" or is it Gideon? I thought it refers to Gideon as Gideon's motif is all about ears.
Similarly Latenna talks about being attacked by the "all-hearing brute" which I'm assuming is Gideon once again rather than Ensha.
- Anonymous
Doesn't invade after lighting the tree, or at least he didn't in my game, I've seen some people randomly trigger his invasion early game. Wonder if it's another bugged NPC quest, game is full of em.
- Anonymous
Obtaining the left counterpart seems to also trigger the invasion
- Anonymous
Has anyone actually ever died to this guy? By the point you get the haligtree medallions, you're fairly late into the game I'd suspect, so is there a unique interaction for losing to him? Does he steal the half from you? Do you just respawn, tormented to forever be in combat with him until he's slain?
- Anonymous
My first playthrough I never got invaded but my second I did. Here are the differences in what I did. First playthrough I got both medallions and when straight to the elevator (I did NOT return to the Roundtable). Second playthrough I got the right medallion and went to the Roundtable before acquiring the left medallion.
Both attempts where in base game, not new game.
I think activating the elevator to progress to the Haligtree area could prevent the invasion from occurring. I don't know if getting both halves disable getting invaded.
If anyone wants to test it, I think these are possible starting points to explore.

when I read that Ensha is also known as Edgelord, and "The all-hearing", I get kind of confused, because how am I ever going to learn what the hell is going on, if everything has 3 meanings and got different definitions. I know this is part of the whole Soulsborne concept, but Elden Ring is so big, GIGANTIC compared to those games, so when something was hard to follow in DS games, then I just can't imagine how difficult it will be to follow all this in ER.
There are some really good Youtubers who lives off telling these stories and put them together, I enjoy watching those lore and story videos very much, but watching any of that now, before I have completed the game, will only reveal a whole bunch of spoilers. Anyways, I like how From is doing things, not everything has to be easy and told in an easy way. Just a bit annoying I won't know what's really going on before after the game, and then for a while after.

This dudes invasion has me curious on everything that can trigger his invasion now. I was watching my son play(he is 8). He has not beat Godric, The Grafted. Nor has he been anywhere north of Limgrave. The places he has been to are Limgrave, Weeping Peninsula, and Calied(he has explored all of Calied that he can at the moment). And I don't know if he has been to any location underground. My son was farming runes to level some of his weapons to +6 and beyond. When he teleported to Roundtable Hold, this guy attacked him. He has NO medallion half, and hasn't been to Lunaria of the Lakes yet. So it's obvious a certain progression can be made to trigger an invasion. I just don't know what it is.
- Anonymous
He never invaded me, even though I've gotten the medallion and have progressed into the Haligtree. I've teleported to the Roundtable Hold many times, and I've gone down to where the Tongue invader was. Edge,Lord does not want to fight?

very dissapointing character, such a cool design and potential. So sad their questline is literally 1 interaction
- Anonymous
If you got the left side of the medallion before the right side he still invades you.
Has 1200 health, used rot to kill him and that was as high as it got when he died
- Anonymous
Small bit of info. Before I got invaded by him, I had Godrick's rune activated to use a few incantations. Upon entering the darkened roundtable hold, I couldn't use any incantations. I didn't check my health before and after, but I think the "lack of grace" in the roundtable hold also severs your link to whatever great rune you have active. Godrick's rune was active again after killing him when transported to the "active grace" instance.
- Anonymous
It seems any Haligtree Medallion half is enough to trigger the invasion. I missed the right one in the village and got the left one first, and he invaded me on my next visit to Roundtable Hold.
