Godskin Noble is a Boss in Elden Ring. Godskin Nobles are humanoid enemies dressed in an armor made from voluminous flaps of skin, wielding rapiers and black flame magic. They can be encountered in multiple locations. These are optional bosses as players are not required to defeat them to advance in Elden Ring but they do provide useful items as well as Runes.

An abnormally rotund creature brandishing a long and deadly thrusting sword. It uses its weapon with ease, capable of stabs and slams. One should beware if it unleashes its true potential, bloating its body to crush enemies beneath it.

Elden Ring Godskin Noble Boss

Godskin Nobles are found in various locations.

  • Godskin Noble met at Crumbling Farum Azula is not optional, no matter the ending desired.
  • Remaining encounters are optional.
  • This is a Great Enemy type Boss
  • Closest Site of Grace: Various
  • Multiplayer is allowed for this Boss
  • You can summon Spirit Ashes for this Boss
  • Player can summon Recusant Bernahl for this fight (Noble at Crumbling Farum Azula) - there are no NPC to be summoned for other encounters.

Elden Ring Godskin Noble Location

Godskin Noble can be found in various locations:

  1. Spiritcaller's Cave in the Mountaintops of the Giants. Encountered in spectral form in a consecutive boss fight with a Godskin Apostle. The Noble is fought after the Apostle is defeated. Only counts as one boss fight and gives rewards once, the boss fight is called Godskin Apostle and Godskin Noble (Click on it for more info). [Elden Ring Map Link]
  2. Crumbling Farum Azula: At the main hall of the Dragon Temple, Godskin Noble is encountered in physical form alongside with Godskin Apostle as usual BUT this time they are both encountered simultaneously in a single boss fight called Godskin Duo. [Elden Ring Map Link]
  3. Volcano Manor: Located at the Temple of Eiglay (grants the Trophy / Achievement "Godskin Noble"). This temple is visible from the Prison Town Church grace, but the bridge leading to it is lowered to begin with. Instead, from the Prison Town Church grace you must trace a path around the edge of the lava lake westward over the rooftops and then south, until you can drop down to the lava lake's surface. Cross to the southern side of the lake from the west side and climb up to the area with many cages. One of the cages is an elevator. Climb up the steps after the elevator to reach the Temple of Eiglay.

  4. Carian Study Hall: One is located on the bridge between the Inverted Carian Study Hall and the Divine Tower of Liurnia after progressing Ranni the Witch's questline enough to get the Carian Inverted Statue. This enemy will drop the Godskin Noble Set. Spirit summons are not available for this fight. [Elden Ring Map Link]

Godskin Noble Combat Information

Absorptions:

The absorption numbers are the % of your damage that gets blocked. For example if an absorption is 60. 40% of that damage by that type will go through and 60% is absorbed. Bigger number= less damage. An absorption of 100 means no damage goes through, and a resistance of -100 mean the enemy takes 2x damage from that source. 0 means damage goes pretty much as is.

Resistances:

The resistance numbers is the buildup amount to trigger it. For example if a resistance is 100 you must deal 100 points of whatever aux buildup to trigger it. Note that these go down over time, and increase each time the effect procs.

Godskin Noble Fight Strategy

The Best Tips for Godskin Noble:

  • Use sleep pots to put the boss to sleep. Usually one is enough and will allow you to get multiple hits in before it wakes up. Repeat as needed.
  • Alternatively, sleep arrows are very easy to craft at the point of game when players meet Noble for first time.

Melee Users

The Godskin Noble is fast and can deal damage or break poise rapidly through the Stab and Overhead Strike, and Stab and Backhand attacks. Generally melee users should circle around the Noble to deal damage while avoiding combo attacks, and quickly back away when the Black Flame Barrier spell is telegraphed. Parrying is difficult and not necessarily critical given the Noble does not have significant resistances to physical attack. Simply dodge rolling and avoiding physical attacks while striking occasionally is generally enough to outlast the Noble.

Bleed, poison and rot may be applied to the Noble without significant difficulty but take care when doing so with short or midrange melee weapons as the Noble does use its shove, barrier, stomp and belly roll moves to distance the player character if too much damage is done at once. The belly roll may be stopped by striking the Noble during the roll which will interrupt the attack and provide an opening for followup attacks.

Magic and Ranged Users

Strategy Writeup for Magic Users

Bridge to Divine Tower of Liurnia: Once reaching his threshold that causes his attack pattern to change, the Godskin Noble will roll at the player. When he begins rolling, you can catch him in one of the ports on the side of the bridge so he gets stuck. If you're able to make it back to the entrance, you can go to one side and when he attempts to roll up the stairs he will angle over the guard rail and fall to his death.

For Incantation users, best is to inflict one of Status Effects at the start and then attack Noble with either Lightning Spear or Swarm of Flies.

Godskin Noble Attacks & Counters

Attack Description Counter
Black Flame The Noble raises his left hand behind him and conjures a ball of Black Flame which he then tosses at his target.  tosses towards his target. The projectile has a rather fast travel speed and deals damage over time for a couple of seconds after a direct hit. Watch the telegraph and dodge sideways or through the projectile as soon as he tosses it. The Noble's Black Flame has a slower cast compared to the Apostle.
Black Flame Ritual The Noble holds his left hand low and to the side and then conjures pillars of black flame all around him. The flames persist for a while after, preventing melee attacks until they dissipate. Dodge away as he lowers his hand and maintain your distance.
Double Stomp The Noble fiercely stomps with his right leg twice in front of him. Deals damage in a small radius around the point of impact. Maintain distance, dodge backwards if caught in melee range, or parry.
Belly Shove The Noble shoves his target with his large belly. Does not deal damage, but can stagger targets. Dodge backwards.
Stab & Overhead Strike The Noble performs a quick jab with his rapier and then follows up with a slow overhead slash. Dodge both attacks sideways. It may be easier to just block the stab and then dodge the overhead slash.
Stab & Backhand The Noble stabs with his rapier and then performs a backhanded slap with his left hand. Dodge the stab by rolling to his right and the backhand should not hit you.
Below 60% Threshold When the Noble is brought down to 60% HP, he will cross his arms and float upwards and then slam down, releasing a shockwave in a small radius around him. This signifies the start of Phase 2 where he "unseats" the skin on his abdomen, allowing him to significantly bloat his belly, giving him a much larger hitbox for certain attacks. He also gains new attacks.
Godskin Wheel The Noble bloats up his belly and leaps up, landing on his side and then rolls around like a wheel, trampling anything in his path. Sprint to the side as soon as you see his belly increase in size. Hide behind pillars until he's done rolling.
Godskin Crusher The Noble bloats his body and floats upwards, before slamming down. Dodge in once you see him begin to descend. If you get knocked down by the initial blast, you can dodge in safely as soon as you get up.
Repeating Thrust Holds its rapier upright before unleashing a fast combo of thrusts. Dodge to his side and punish.
Noble Presence The Noble quickly thrusts his belly forward, dealing moderate damage and stunning targets in front of it. This attack is extremely fast, coming out in only 13 frames, but does not deal too much damage. There is a faint audio cue that’s similar to the casting sound of Black Flame and Black Flame Ritual but dampened. Dodge to his side.

Godskin Noble Lore, Notes & Other Trivia

  • Along with their Apostle comrades, they served the Gloam-Eyed Queen and wielded Black Flame to slay gods and carve their skin to wear for themselves. Theories suggest that the Gloam-Eyed Queen is Melina
  • One met at Divine Tower of Liurnia can be baited to roll himself of the bridge and die.

Between that idiotic rolling and the supernatural ability of his attacks to pass through pillars (which is a thing across ALL the From games), there is nothing rewarding or satisfying about fighting this thing. Just a stupefying grind.

      • Anonymous

Fromsoft just couldn't resist putting another bonewheel skeleton in the game. But instead of making them boney, now they're fat. One hit from the roll and you're as good as dead cuz you'll be constantly thrown into the path of their roll to get hit again. Worst off, they're even faster than Torrent. You can't block because you'll get knocked over and then repeatedly hit until death. You can't run because they're faster than you. And on the bridge, you have no place to dodge.

        • Anonymous

I just can't stay focused because of how utterly disgusting this thing is. I feel really sick when facing one. F**ng erase it from existence.

          • Anonymous

I spent all this time reading guides and clever stuff... Trying to use sleep and spells and summons and incantations and stuff.

Ended up beating him solo at Volcano without healing with a light load and Bloodhound's Fang.

His only tricky dodge is the roll. Sometimes you can run right and slightly into his roll and he'll never hit you, sometimes he'll glitch on a pillar and end up locking you in a corner and rolling you to death.

The roll is a metaphorical dice roll. Don't be discouraged by that unfair death.

And Bloodhound's Fang. What else can you get this early that does so much slash damage?

            • Anonymous

Annihilated this guy with the dual Inquisitor's spear+5 and naginata+12 while he was distracted with my greatshield men. He didn't even have a chance to roll.

For the one on the bridge to the divine tower.

Ride up to make him spawn, rot breath him and then ride right past him to the other side. One full FP will take him to more than half go at 12 Arc. He will float and not transform. One e he comes back to the ground rot breath him once again. Never got close to me.

Worst mid boss in the game, esp after 1.06 where he never stops rollling. Hope this helps!

                • Anonymous

When he rolls and breaks a pillar, stand on top of the base of the pillar, he can’t roll on top of that. Easy way to avoid his roll.

                  • Anonymous

Anyone know why he can start the roll, stop to fireball, then instantly resume rolling? It's killed me more than twice so I'm confused if I should be pissed at a stupid bug or at my lack of skill.

                    • If you throw sleep pot during his transformation, prior to ****-roll attack, it will bug out. This PoS can suddenly stop and fall asleep than immediately resume rolling animation. Absolute shitshow from fromsoft.

                      • Anonymous

****ing hate this boss. His roly poly move is like an extended invincibility phase, his combos vary in durations way too much with tiny openings between his fast and unnaturally delayed attacks and his cast of noble presence is literally unreactable.

                        • Anonymous

The key for me was the throne. Rotten breath 2x to get his health to slow drop. Run behind throne while ash fights him. By the time that's over his health is pretty low. His roll will get stuck on the throne and cannot get past it. When he is FINALLY done with that damn roll. Blast him again.

                          • Anonymous

Easily the most annoying of the two Godskins imo, Apostle is not too bad but he hits hard, Noble on the other hand is always the really annoying one, his moves are a pain to consistently dodge, he has little to no wind up between attacks, and that stupid damn roll with lingering hitboxes never fails to piss me off, also screw that belly blast move he does in his second phase, that attack is complete horseshit, it is nigh impossible to dodge unless you have godlike reaction speed/reflexes, while always knocking you over even if you have super armor, I always sleep pot this smug chonky douchebag first and foremost.

                            • Anonymous

If his outfit is anything to go by, this dude isn't even just fat, hes definitely bulkier than the Apostle and he hunches over alot, but i don't think he's actually just obese, he's actually wearing a crapton of flabby skin, which is honestly alot more disturbing.

                              • In the manor, during the startup to the roll attack, just lock onto him and line up the little lockon dot with the middle of the pillars. you can buff here if you need to, since he just sits there rolling in place for around 20 seconds..

Did they nerf sleep or something cause I’ll sleep this guy with 3 arrows and then I can’t sleep him again

I have more information on his moveset, basically, if your REALLY close to him right after his phase transition, he will do the move where he jumps into the air instead of rolling. You usually have to dodge the explosion during his phase transition to get close enough for him to do this. Another thing is whenever you close the distance on him before he finishes throwing his fire ball, once he throws it, there is a 90% chance he will immediately cast black flame ritaul. The other 10% of the time he will either do his delayed hilt Stomp, or the double hilt Stomp. I think out all the 300+ times I've soloed the godskin duo, (successfully without the host dying) I've only seen him NOT do one of those 2 moves around 5 or 6 times. Also, both of these tips apply for the noble in all of his fights, including the duo. Also if you made it this far, have a good rest of your day!

                                    • Anonymous

The nobles roll isn't that bad, just dodge to the side then run in a circle. The real culprit is his noble presence attack, it come out in 26 frames with little to no warning. The only thing that I've found to somewhat consistently dodge it is to turn off your music because the move has a faint audio cue that makes the same sound as a fireball being casted. Even then it requires insane reaction time and in the duo fight can easily mistaken for a fire ball being casted by te apostle. I've soloed the godskin duo for around 300 people now and this is the only move I have trouble with in both the noble and apostles moveset. Extra fact, as of recently, so many hosts have died on me when I've been soloing the duo because the noble agro's onto he host when doing the roll, and recently, for some reason the roll doesn't end once it hits and usually hits 3 times. Also if you get trapped against the wall during the roll, pray to God you can get out because 9/10 hosts die if they get trapped against the wall. I hope this helps anyone having trouble, and have a good rest of your day if you've made it this far.

i really hate it when otherwise fair bosses have this one move that just screws you. in this case it's the repeating thrust attack for me, it has practically zero windup and just mauls most of your hp bar in seconds, then if you don't get out of the way fast he kills you. the rolling attack is not so bad for me but the multi-thrust feels unfair with how much less reaction time you get and how much harder it hits than basically any other move in his arsenal

                                          • Anonymous

I’ve found sprinting to the side and rolling at the last second is a pretty consistent way to dodge the roll attack

Still more fit than your average Genshin Impact player. (this is coming from someone who used to play it alot and quit a long time ago)

Volcano Manor: He got stuck rolling against the altar (I was cowering behind it, as is natural) so I rot breathed him through it. I would say I feel bad but that roll, in that tight of a space, is cheap as heck. Plus he clips through pillars with every attack so it’s only fair that I can halitosis through a brick altar.

                                                • Anonymous

So they changed the behavior of his rolling attack after 1.06, he used to stop after he hits you after 1 roll but now he keep rolling for a least 2 more hits and he seems to be more immune to sleep

                                                  • Anonymous

roll attack not stopping until it hits something isn’t a huge deal but it is just objectively bad design

                                                    • Anonymous

By far the shitiest boss of this game and it just shows one of the major problems with elden ring: Artificial difficulty.
He spends around 15 seconds on that homing rolling that is extremely hard to dodge and even though he hits you, he just don't stop. Actually when he hits you, you're ****ed be cause by the time you get up he'll be into you face again. So it is basically enough to end the fight. Forget guides that say that just need to run in a certain way because if he gets slightly stuck on a wall or pillar, he'll turn immediately to you, ruining the diagonal run strategy. And of course, pray so he don't stun lock you on a wall when he is rolling.

                                                      • Anonymous

Last update changed the rolling attack I think. He used to stop the rolling after he hits the player once but now he continues rolling even after hitting me, which makes it much harder

                                                        • Anonymous

Very fun build to copy for invasions. Keep several Godskin Stitchers on you with Giant Hunt, Lightning Ram, and Ass Slam for an accurate NOBLE moveset.

The best way to fight them (what I did) is to get mimic tear and bow with sleep arrows, as they run toward you put them to sleep with 4 shots then summon mimic tear, the mimic will shoot with sleep arriws the whole fight while you can melee them (use slash weapon)

I think the hemorrhage counter is wrong, i am currently running a spear and shield build with the Lance, and currently does 88 points of bleed on every hit, but it is taking around 6 hits to actually make him bleed, even when in quick succession.

                                                              • Anonymous

I can second the comment from 14th July 21:26. I've just killed the fat coin-purse in the temple of Eiglay, on my first attempt I got five or six direct hits one after another with the sleep pots while it was focused on my spirit summons but they had no effect. And just like the previous comment he was standing in the middle of the vapour.

I don't know if I just don't have high enough Arcane or something (I have 9), but the one at Eiglay just didn't fall asleep, even after 3 sleep pots. It's not like I missed, either, cause I was able to keep him in the cloud the whole time every time. Just gonna fight Rykard later lmao

                                                                  • Anonymous

His big shield-breaking stab attack that does 50% of my health gets like 3 seconds of windup, why does his instant kill multi-stab attack get 0.5?

                                                                    • Anonymous

He's actually a dual boss in Volcano Manor. You also have to fight the arena. I'd say those pillars have been responsible for about 40% of my deaths so far.

                                                                      • Anonymous

This boss is the worst. I know I'm just tired and I'll probably get him when I come back to it, but the Volcano Manor version of this guy just pisses me off. I was doing well until the camera would decide something was in the way and make it invisible so I'd roll into what I though was an open space and instead get killed. For god's sake I can predict where he'll be if my camera is blocked but I can't play around something that is literally to my SIDE but blocks my roll. Once I lost one too many times I just started missing my parries and then it's a downward spiral. Couple the camera with only getting ONE try to find the parry timing and tell on that flurry of thrusts in phase 2 since it one shots me even if blocking and I just need a break. This just doesn't feel like a boss that deserves to give me this level of frustration.

                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                              • Anonymous

Have a shield with parry (Golden parry or buckler parry is recommended but not needed) and run into him baiting the forward thrust attack. Its very easy to parry and if he dosent do it just run away and try again till he does it. Bam easy boss fight

Bloodhound Fang +6 on a Dex Character with 32 Vigor, 20 Strength, 40 Dex, mixed Armor, Poise Talisman, HP Regen Talisman, Physical Def up Talisman (~32 Physical Def) and Godricks Rune active wrecked him pretty hard. (~600-700 damage per Jumping Strong attack ~400 for regular light attacks)

Managed him first try on a lvl 75 Char at Volcano Manor (lvl115 with rune)

His rolling attack is BS though xD thankfully he only used it once.

Stick to his sides, depending on your Weapon you're able to "duck" under his stab ( jumping strong attacks worked well for me but recovery is a little rough)

                                                                                    • Anonymous

After I died a couple of times, I figured out a strategy. Use the spirit ashes that will keep him busy (the damage they make doesn't matter), while I wreck him with Lion's Claw. Those ashes are the Skeletal Militia Ashes. He just kills them and comes for me. But I run away and the Militia respawn again. He fights them about 20-25 seconds, time in which I can Lion Claw his ass once or twice (he gets staggered by it). Hit and then run away. When finally he managed to kill them he was at about 15% health and I had 3 more life potions left. DONE! Summon Militia, unleash your favorite ash of war on him and run away when he kills them. Wait until they are respawned and repeat until he's dead.

                                                                                      • Anonymous

I used a Greatshield with Barricade Shield Skill paired with the Lance and Rogiers Rapier, so I could attack while blocking. Lance had Frost affinity and Rapier Poison, aswell as Bloody Slash Skill to inflict bleed. Only attacks I had do dodge were the black flame things he threw and his booty slam from above. Blocking with Barricade Shield rendered his rolling attack useless against me.

                                                                                        • Anonymous

I hate his long combo, i swear every enemy in this game has a 10-12 hit combo specifically designed to deplete your stamina, then have an awkwardly timed final hit that is delayed juuuust enough for you to think you can get a hit in. Screw this boss, RL 75 still barely doing any damage to him.

                                                                                          • Anonymous

I hated this fight in the volcano manor church. At this point I had used a lot of my sleep pots and was running a faith build so the St.Trinas sword was relatively innefective. I tried my best summons with no success. You can use the pillars to block his roll, but his rapier attacks go right through it. despite the super thin look of the rapier its hitbox is bizarely wide near his body. Getting pinned while he uses his aoe flame, or thinking he's about to use his roll and instead he flattens you with another move where he jumps makes me cringe and panic.

                                                                                            • Anonymous

used a bunch of sleep arrows and pots on this guy but still got bodied in the end cause im honestly pretty terrible at this game. I'm really determined to beat this but now I've exhausted my supply of arrows and pots and I've practically used all the trina's lilly's in the map. Is it time for me to give up on reaching Rykard this way.

                                                                                              • Anonymous

Buckler parry FTW. The guy's dogtail thrusts (weapon hand moves to the opposite side of their chest before the thrust attack) are super easy to parry and he tends to revert to those thrusts after missing with some other attack so you can anticipate them.

                                                                                                • Anonymous

I find Noble way harder than Apostle. I've gotten good at fighting Apostle, but Noble's moveset and attack timings are so much harder for me. Despite being the huge one, Noble is far faster and more agile when in close range than Apostle is. He has very little or no wind up or time between attacks, unlike Apostle. My strat has become to use him as a dart board for some Kukri, smash a Sleep Pot into his fat smug face and then get in as many hits with powerstanced Meteorite Ore Blade + Nagakiba as I can, repeat.

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

Paired with the Rotten Stray ashes +5 I managed to down him RL 9. Recommend Radagon's soreseal to meet requirements if you don't have 16 STR & DEX.
Or just use a regular bleed weapon if you're not on a low RL run I guess?

                                                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                                                      • Anonymous

For real, design a small boss with regular sized weapon for once!

Cuz I sure have…

                                                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                                                              • Anonymous

Doesn't take a massive amount to proc bleed. Try not to throw the pots when he's moving forward, as he'll just run out of range. What I found worked best was to throw a pot, then run towards him/to his side so that he backs up into the sleep cloud, he should be knocked out before he hits you. Bloodhounds Fang would probably be a good choice since it has high damage and bleed, especially if it's +5/6 or higher. At the church, when he does his Blob roll attack, just position yourself directly behind a pillar and as long as you stay centered, he'll just roll into the other side until it winds down.

                                                                                                                • Anonymous

You can go to either side of the gate and he will roll up the stairs and over the edge. Like most of these needlessly op mobs, they aren't worth not cheesing.
