Godskin Noble is a Great Enemy Boss in Elden Ring. These humanoid enemies dress in an armor made from voluminous flaps of skin, wielding rapiers and black flame magic. They are optional bosses as they don't need to be defeated to advance in Elden Ring.
Godskin Noble also appears in the Godskin Duo fight and as a spirit summon in a Spirit-Caller Snail fight.
Nobles are the most ancient apostles who are said to have assimilated inhuman physiology. Not unlike the crucible, the Erdtree in its primordial form.

Godskin Noble Combat information
- Stance: 80
- Parryable: Yes
- Is vulnerable to a critical hit after being stance broken or parried
- Damage:
Standard,
Pierce,
Fire
Negations (or Absorptions)
The negation numbers are the % of your damage that gets blocked. For example, if a negation is 60, 40% of that damage by that type will go through and 60% will be negated. Bigger number = less damage. A negation of 100 means no damage goes through, and a negation of -100 mean the enemy takes 2x damage from that source. 0 means damage goes pretty much as is.

Godskin Noble Fight Strategy
The Best Tips for Godskin Noble:
- Use sleep pots to put the boss to sleep. Usually one is enough and will allow you to get multiple hits in before it wakes up. Repeat as needed.
- Alternatively, sleep arrows are very easy to craft at the point of game when players meet Noble for first time.
Melee Users
The Godskin Noble is fast and can deal damage or break poise rapidly through the Stab and Overhead Strike, and Stab and Backhand attacks. Generally melee users should circle around the Noble to deal damage while avoiding combo attacks, and quickly back away when the Black Flame Barrier spell is telegraphed. Parrying is difficult and not necessarily critical given the Noble does not have significant resistances to physical attack. Simply dodge rolling and avoiding physical attacks while striking occasionally is generally enough to outlast the Noble.
Bleed, poison and rot may be applied to the Noble without significant difficulty but take care when doing so with short or midrange melee weapons as the Noble does use its shove, barrier, stomp and belly roll moves to distance the player character if too much damage is done at once. The belly roll may be stopped by striking the Noble during the roll which will interrupt the attack and provide an opening for followup attacks.
Magic and Ranged Users
Strategy Writeup for Magic Users
Bridge to Divine Tower of Liurnia: Once reaching his threshold that causes his attack pattern to change, the Godskin Noble will roll at the player. When he begins rolling, you can catch him in one of the ports on the side of the bridge so he gets stuck. If you're able to make it back to the entrance, you can go to one side and when he attempts to roll up the stairs he will angle over the guard rail and fall to his death.
For Incantation users, best is to inflict one of Status Effects at the start and then attack Noble with either Lightning Spear or Swarm of Flies.
Godskin Noble Attacks & Counters
Attack | Description | Counter |
Black Flame | The Noble raises his left hand behind him and conjures a ball of Black Flame which he then tosses at his target. tosses towards his target. The projectile has a rather fast travel speed and deals damage over time for a couple of seconds after a direct hit. | Watch the telegraph and dodge sideways or through the projectile as soon as he tosses it. The Noble's Black Flame has a slower cast compared to the Apostle. |
Black Flame Ritual | The Noble holds his left hand low and to the side and then conjures pillars of black flame all around him. The flames persist for a while after, preventing melee attacks until they dissipate. | Dodge away as he lowers his hand and maintain your distance. |
Double Stomp | The Noble fiercely stomps with his right leg twice in front of him. Deals damage in a small radius around the point of impact. | Maintain distance, dodge backwards if caught in melee range, or parry. |
Belly Shove | The Noble shoves his target with his large belly. Does not deal damage, but can stagger targets. | Dodge backwards. |
Stab & Overhead Strike | The Noble performs a quick jab with his rapier and then follows up with a slow overhead slash. | Dodge both attacks sideways. It may be easier to just block the stab and then dodge the overhead slash. |
Stab & Backhand | The Noble stabs with his rapier and then performs a backhanded slap with his left hand. | Dodge the stab by rolling to his right and the backhand should not hit you. |
Below 60% Threshold | When the Noble is brought down to 60% HP, he will cross his arms and float upwards and then slam down, releasing a shockwave in a small radius around him. This signifies the start of Phase 2 where he "unseats" the skin on his abdomen, allowing him to significantly bloat his belly, giving him a much larger hitbox for certain attacks. He also gains new attacks. | |
Godskin Wheel | The Noble bloats up his belly and leaps up, landing on his side and then rolls around like a wheel, trampling anything in his path. | Sprint to the side as soon as you see his belly increase in size. Hide behind pillars until he's done rolling. |
Godskin Crusher | The Noble bloats his body and floats upwards, before slamming down. | Dodge in once you see him begin to descend. If you get knocked down by the initial blast, you can dodge in safely as soon as you get up. |
Repeating Thrust | Holds its rapier upright before unleashing a fast combo of thrusts. | Dodge to his side and punish. |
Noble Presence | The Noble quickly thrusts his belly forward, dealing moderate damage and stunning targets in front of it. | This attack is extremely fast, coming out in only 13 frames, but does not deal too much damage. There is a faint audio cue that’s similar to the casting sound of Black Flame and Black Flame Ritual but dampened. Dodge to his side. |
Godskin Noble Lore, Notes & Other Trivia
- Along with their Apostle comrades, they served the Gloam-Eyed Queen and wielded Black Flame to slay gods and carve their skin to wear for themselves. Theories suggest that the Gloam-Eyed Queen is Melina
- One met at Divine Tower of Liurnia can be baited to roll himself of the bridge and die.

Elden Ring Notes & Trivia
- A choir can be heard singing in the background during the Boss theme. This was first thought to be Latin singing, but was later discovered to be a non-existent language, intentionally designed to sound like Latin words. This is the case with most tracks in the game.

Rather easy when throwing sleep pots at him. Throw one sleep pot, he goes to sleep, go behind him and damage him with a weapon. Repeat.
- Anonymous
Surprisingly easy to parry. Also only takes one parry per stance break.
- Anonymous
“GOTOSKINU NOBORU” squeals Miyazaki after getting instant-killed by the rolling attack, shi tting his pants in the process.
- Anonymous
When I stance broke him while he was rolling, I went over to riposte him, but he JUST STARTED ROLLING AGAIN, NO WARNING, JUST INSTANTLY STARTED ROLLING AGAIN?!?!

Worst boss in the game. Camera glitches out constantly and he can stab you through the pillars. Did they even play test this boss?
- Anonymous
This boss is terrible, most of the time he rolls the camera glitches out and I can’t see my character. Also his sword goes the pillars. Literally the worst boss in this game.
- Anonymous
This boss is just annoying to fight so if you really don’t want to deal with him just stock up on a bunch of sleep pots/arrows and when he sleeps bring out your highest damaging attacks. Alternatively be crazy like me and try to do the godskin noble skip for 2 hours since the second half of it is ridiculously hard.
boring boss with 2 unfair attacks . roll doesn't work in half of the arenas you fight him in & noble presence is unreactable
- Anonymous
Honestly the roll lasts way too long. Even if you dodge away and wait behind something, he just keeps doing it for like 10 s
-15 seconds until the ai is literally sure it can't hit you and that it's a waste of time.
Mage: Physick w/hidden tear+magic shrouding tear, maximized int/magic w gear and talismans, Sleeping pot x2 (to be sure..), Cast Terra Magica then Comet Azur until no more boss. Feels like cheese but then again I am a mage!
- Anonymous
Honestly, piss poor boss design. Nobody who appreciates the masterpiece design of bosses from Sekiro, DS3, and BB could argue with this fact lol
- Anonymous
I think the Godskin apostle is fine as long as you don’t Afro him but the noble could use some work
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
If you put him to sleep during hit roll out he'll proceed with it, without wind up mind you, once he awakens, even if you hit him with a Critical Attack.
- Anonymous
When he rolls at you, roll THROUGH him. As long as you aren't fat-rolling, you should clear his hitbox (also works on Mohgwyn Albinaurics). After that, he tries to turn around to find you - easily avoided by staying in the middle of his circle.
- Anonymous
i like how the best tip is just cheese the **** out of the fight cause it sucks ass

Dude just stabbed me through a pillar. Wtf. I saw his thing go through the pillar.

Has anyone seen the bug where he will start the rolling then do a stab combo and immediately be in the rolling animation again? Killed most of my runs.
- Anonymous
When the Godskin Noble begins his wheel roll at you, roll in a direction going away from his head; the roll will go in a motion such that you are the origin of the circle he traces, if that makes sense. You can maneuver around this so that he'll just continue to roll around you and wear himself out, giving you time to heal / refill mana, select throwables etc.
- Anonymous
for the volcano manor one, if you manage to get him between the side wall during his spin he can be attacked through it making the fight wayyy easier
- Anonymous
I love this game and i love FromSoft, but this fight is just sooooo bad. So when he starts the rolling attack he has a weird bug in his code where if you arent the host he will glitch in and out of the animation until he locks onto the host and then does his roll again and this sh*t is soooo glitchy. Lol wtf
- Anonymous
Liurnia Tower Bridge cheese:
Ride your horse fast past him all the way to the other side of the bridge and he'll de-aggro and turn away from you to watch in the direction of the site of grace. Carefully approach him from behind and you can get close enough to cast poison mist without aggro. Back off + wait, approach + poison. Repeat as necessary
- Anonymous
If you have issues with him, try focusing on rolling away from his attacks and into him back in melee range instead of to the sides. He has really good tracking to roll catch you mid roll, but he also has surprisingly mediocre direct range. The only problem is the multi-stab, but you can also roll into it and evade it that way, he will whiff the rest of his stabs. Though the roly poly and 0 frame belly thrust just suck, sorry.
- Anonymous
Got him stuck against a pillar and wailed on him with my winged scythe until bleed procced

I would recommend parrying. Why trying to guess whether he will follow-up when you can shut his combo right at start...

or you can just waste sleep pots on him like everyon else.

You can roll into him when he starts spinning. It works everytime, I am not sure why it's not mentioned as an alternative to running around him

At the Temple, he gave me 45,000 runes WITH the scarab. Did they lower his reward after 1.07?
- Anonymous
This game really made me curious how a sword with technically no blade but a pointy edge can hurt anyone by slashing...
After many tries, finally defeated this one by summoning a group Ash and running for the altar when he puffs up to roll. Used blood, frost and sleep pots

You can easily avoid the Blubber Roll™ by sprinting after him as he rolls. Sing “ring around the rosie” for added effect.

I've just had a taste of the lesser fat-boy on the bridge before the divine tower of Liurnia on my first NG+ and it wasn't fun. There is no reliable way to not get hit again and again when te fat f**ker starts rolling around. But he will only go so far towards the west end of the bridge near the study hall use bleed arrows and dodge the fire ball and you'll be golden.

"Sprint to the side as soon as you see his belly increase in size. Hide behind pillars until he's done rolling." he literally rolls through the pillars. in other words, there is no strategy outside of luck. typical fromsoft laziness.
- Anonymous
Anyone having trouble use Death's Poker on him. The L2 causes frostbite build up and L2+R1 puts a trail on the ground that procs when he walks over it. Phase two is super easy with it. Get him stuck rolling against a pillar and then spam L2+R1 and he will melt. Did it with a +6 Poker at level 41 (the first 4 somber you buy from Iji and then 5 & 6 can be gotten before Godskin in Volcano Manor, the 7th is behind the double stone key room in Volcano Manor depending how you got there you might be able to get it before the fight too. +8 is from a white dung beetle in Northern Caelid. You can have a strong weapon decently early in the game.

I see Ymfah's foreskin espionage hasn't entirely been stamped out

Love the wiki graffiti "foreskin noble"
Also gotta love getting roll jammed into a wall every time he hits phase 2 and dying on an otherwise more than manageable fight

This is a great example of Fromsoft ruining a great boss design with some of the most cheap moves in the game. Not only the endless roll but the terrible hit boxes on his sword, he’ll be stabbing over your head and you’ll take full damage.
And his sword going through pillars is just sloppy
- Anonymous
Craft a couple of sleeping pots and this fight becomes super easy. In order to be able to craft the sleeping pots, you need the Fevor's Cookbook (1).
- Anonymous
It's amazing how FromSoft can make one godson enemy (the apostle) incredibly fun to fight and another (the noble) that has absolutely no redeeming qualities. Also, is there an explanation for why he is so fat?
- Anonymous
Did anyone notice this fat godskin has a tail while the skinnier one doesn't? I wonder why.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Between that idiotic rolling and the supernatural ability of his attacks to pass through pillars (which is a thing across ALL the From games), there is nothing rewarding or satisfying about fighting this thing. Just a stupefying grind.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Fromsoft just couldn't resist putting another bonewheel skeleton in the game. But instead of making them boney, now they're fat. One hit from the roll and you're as good as dead cuz you'll be constantly thrown into the path of their roll to get hit again. Worst off, they're even faster than Torrent. You can't block because you'll get knocked over and then repeatedly hit until death. You can't run because they're faster than you. And on the bridge, you have no place to dodge.
- Anonymous
I just can't stay focused because of how utterly disgusting this thing is. I feel really sick when facing one. F**ng erase it from existence.
- Anonymous
I spent all this time reading guides and clever stuff... Trying to use sleep and spells and summons and incantations and stuff.
Ended up beating him solo at Volcano without healing with a light load and Bloodhound's Fang.
His only tricky dodge is the roll. Sometimes you can run right and slightly into his roll and he'll never hit you, sometimes he'll glitch on a pillar and end up locking you in a corner and rolling you to death.
The roll is a metaphorical dice roll. Don't be discouraged by that unfair death.
And Bloodhound's Fang. What else can you get this early that does so much slash damage?
- Anonymous
Annihilated this guy with the dual Inquisitor's spear+5 and naginata+12 while he was distracted with my greatshield men. He didn't even have a chance to roll.

For some reason he doesn't stop rolling anymore after hitting you on patch 1.06 ...
- Anonymous
For the one on the bridge to the divine tower.
Ride up to make him spawn, rot breath him and then ride right past him to the other side. One full FP will take him to more than half go at 12 Arc. He will float and not transform. One e he comes back to the ground rot breath him once again. Never got close to me.
Worst mid boss in the game, esp after 1.06 where he never stops rollling. Hope this helps!
- Anonymous
When he rolls and breaks a pillar, stand on top of the base of the pillar, he can’t roll on top of that. Easy way to avoid his roll.
- Anonymous
Anyone know why he can start the roll, stop to fireball, then instantly resume rolling? It's killed me more than twice so I'm confused if I should be pissed at a stupid bug or at my lack of skill.
If you throw sleep pot during his transformation, prior to ****-roll attack, it will bug out. This PoS can suddenly stop and fall asleep than immediately resume rolling animation. Absolute shitshow from fromsoft.
- Anonymous
****ing hate this boss. His roly poly move is like an extended invincibility phase, his combos vary in durations way too much with tiny openings between his fast and unnaturally delayed attacks and his cast of noble presence is literally unreactable.
- Anonymous
Kind of a shame that we can't get his Noble Ass-slam or his Roly-poly mode moves.
- Anonymous
The key for me was the throne. Rotten breath 2x to get his health to slow drop. Run behind throne while ash fights him. By the time that's over his health is pretty low. His roll will get stuck on the throne and cannot get past it. When he is FINALLY done with that damn roll. Blast him again.
- Anonymous
Easily the most annoying of the two Godskins imo, Apostle is not too bad but he hits hard, Noble on the other hand is always the really annoying one, his moves are a pain to consistently dodge, he has little to no wind up between attacks, and that stupid damn roll with lingering hitboxes never fails to piss me off, also screw that belly blast move he does in his second phase, that attack is complete horseshit, it is nigh impossible to dodge unless you have godlike reaction speed/reflexes, while always knocking you over even if you have super armor, I always sleep pot this smug chonky douchebag first and foremost.
- Anonymous
If his outfit is anything to go by, this dude isn't even just fat, hes definitely bulkier than the Apostle and he hunches over alot, but i don't think he's actually just obese, he's actually wearing a crapton of flabby skin, which is honestly alot more disturbing.

In the manor, during the startup to the roll attack, just lock onto him and line up the little lockon dot with the middle of the pillars. you can buff here if you need to, since he just sits there rolling in place for around 20 seconds..

I hate his rolling attack. The fact that they put him on the narrow bridge in Liurnia >:(
- Anonymous
I have more information on his moveset, basically, if your REALLY close to him right after his phase transition, he will do the move where he jumps into the air instead of rolling. You usually have to dodge the explosion during his phase transition to get close enough for him to do this. Another thing is whenever you close the distance on him before he finishes throwing his fire ball, once he throws it, there is a 90% chance he will immediately cast black flame ritaul. The other 10% of the time he will either do his delayed hilt Stomp, or the double hilt Stomp. I think out all the 300+ times I've soloed the godskin duo, (successfully without the host dying) I've only seen him NOT do one of those 2 moves around 5 or 6 times. Also, both of these tips apply for the noble in all of his fights, including the duo. Also if you made it this far, have a good rest of your day!
- Anonymous
The nobles roll isn't that bad, just dodge to the side then run in a circle. The real culprit is his noble presence attack, it come out in 26 frames with little to no warning. The only thing that I've found to somewhat consistently dodge it is to turn off your music because the move has a faint audio cue that makes the same sound as a fireball being casted. Even then it requires insane reaction time and in the duo fight can easily mistaken for a fire ball being casted by te apostle. I've soloed the godskin duo for around 300 people now and this is the only move I have trouble with in both the noble and apostles moveset. Extra fact, as of recently, so many hosts have died on me when I've been soloing the duo because the noble agro's onto he host when doing the roll, and recently, for some reason the roll doesn't end once it hits and usually hits 3 times. Also if you get trapped against the wall during the roll, pray to God you can get out because 9/10 hosts die if they get trapped against the wall. I hope this helps anyone having trouble, and have a good rest of your day if you've made it this far.

He has so wide shoulders, how the **** he did not become the elden lord
- Anonymous
i really hate it when otherwise fair bosses have this one move that just screws you. in this case it's the repeating thrust attack for me, it has practically zero windup and just mauls most of your hp bar in seconds, then if you don't get out of the way fast he kills you. the rolling attack is not so bad for me but the multi-thrust feels unfair with how much less reaction time you get and how much harder it hits than basically any other move in his arsenal
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I’ve found sprinting to the side and rolling at the last second is a pretty consistent way to dodge the roll attack
- Anonymous
Still more fit than your average Genshin Impact player. (this is coming from someone who used to play it alot and quit a long time ago)
did they make his roll last longer wtf, I don't remember it lasting so long when the game first came out
- Anonymous
Volcano Manor: He got stuck rolling against the altar (I was cowering behind it, as is natural) so I rot breathed him through it. I would say I feel bad but that roll, in that tight of a space, is cheap as heck. Plus he clips through pillars with every attack so it’s only fair that I can halitosis through a brick altar.
- Anonymous
So they changed the behavior of his rolling attack after 1.06, he used to stop after he hits you after 1 roll but now he keep rolling for a least 2 more hits and he seems to be more immune to sleep
the rolling attack always combos me. why the hell does it go on for so long??
- Anonymous

roll attack not stopping until it hits something isn’t a huge deal but it is just objectively bad design
- Anonymous
By far the shitiest boss of this game and it just shows one of the major problems with elden ring: Artificial difficulty.
He spends around 15 seconds on that homing rolling that is extremely hard to dodge and even though he hits you, he just don't stop. Actually when he hits you, you're ****ed be cause by the time you get up he'll be into you face again. So it is basically enough to end the fight. Forget guides that say that just need to run in a certain way because if he gets slightly stuck on a wall or pillar, he'll turn immediately to you, ruining the diagonal run strategy. And of course, pray so he don't stun lock you on a wall when he is rolling.

Last update changed the rolling attack I think. He used to stop the rolling after he hits the player once but now he continues rolling even after hitting me, which makes it much harder

Very fun build to copy for invasions. Keep several Godskin Stitchers on you with Giant Hunt, Lightning Ram, and Ass Slam for an accurate NOBLE moveset.

After years of Souls protagonists rolling into bosses, now we finally have a boss that rolls into YOU.

Oddly easier than the apostle imo, screw that roll tho that attack is bs
Tip for when he rolls: He always rolls soon after phase 2 starts, so make sure to keep notice of that. When he starts to, roll to his right, or when he's rolling his bottom. From there make sure to keep a medium distance and circle at the same speed as him, so hes just rolling around you.
