Crucible Knight and Misbegotten Warrior is a Field Boss in Elden Ring. A fearsome Misbegotten and a stoic knight have come to Redmane Castle to test their strength. This is an optional boss as players don't need to defeat it to advance.
Leonine Misbegotten and Crucible Knight are the individual forms of these bosses. Another Misbegotten Warrior appears in the Perfumer Tricia and Misbegotten Warrior boss fight. Other Crucible Knights appear in the Tanith's Knight, Crucible Knight Ordovis, and Crucible Knight Siluria boss fights. Lesser Misbegotten Warrior is the normal enemy form of Misbegotten Warrior.
And upon their southern edge is Redmane Castle, in which a festival of combat is being held. I'd heard whispers of such festivities before... doesn't the notion set your breast aflutter!

The negation numbers are the % of your damage that gets blocked. For example, if a negation is 60, 40% of that damage by that type will go through and 60% will be negated. Bigger number = less damage. A negation of 100 means no damage goes through, and a negation of -100 mean the enemy takes 2x damage from that source. 0 means damage goes pretty much as is.
Resistances
- Poison: 329 / 427 / 717 / 1174
- Scarlet Rot: 329 / 427 / 717 / 1174

The resistance numbers are the buildup amount to trigger it. For example, if a resistance is 100 you must deal 100 points of the given buildup to trigger it. Elden Ring Crucible Knight and Misbegotten Warrior Boss Guide
Crucible Knight and Misbegotten Warrior Fight Strategy
The Best Tips for Crucible Knight and Misbegotten Warrior:
- Focus on killing the Misbegotten Warrior quickly before the Crucible Knight can pressure you
- Bring a weapon or spell that deals Fire Damage, since both enemies are weak to it
- See Crucible Knight Fight Strategy
- See Leonine Misbegotten Fight Strategy
Melee Users
Once both enemies are present, the Misbegotten Warrior will follow you much faster than the Crucible Knight. Take advantage of this by luring it across the arena and fighting it alone while the Crucible Knight catches up. Once it's dead, you can face the Crucible Knight one-on-one.
Magic and Ranged Users
Be careful to keep your distance from the Crucible Knight while you finish off the Misbegotten Warrior. Spells that can hit both are good, but be careful not to get Crucible Knight below 60% health until the Misbegotten Warrior is dead or else you'll trigger its Phase 2 and make your life more difficult than it needs to be.

Beating these guys appears to lock you out of co-op for Radahn. Needs some testing, but I'm like 85% sure after running into this exact issue twice. We need a page about which bosses control co-op where, c'mon Fextra

Just did this RL55 with longsword, misericorde, buckler. A nice challenge for me. Stance break the misbeggoten and go for the visceral attacks, takes a few repeats. Stick to sure openings like after a combo chain or after a leap. Then parry the absolute **** out of the silver knight I mean crucible knight. Good wholesome fun.

Such a badass duo, too bad you only end up fighting them one at a time in most cases.

I'm overlevel when I met them so I let mimic tear vs2 while run around lol

Just beat them at RL1 with +12 weapons.
My setup was: Cold Scythe with Chilling Mist + Blood Grave Scythe to melt Misbegotten before Crucible Knight appears, then switch to Buckler + Flame Art Misericorde to parry/riposte the Crucible Knight.
This fight seems like a BS, but thanks to it I finally learned menu swapping (while sprinting) and parrying.

Really surprised by the Knight the first time I entered the room.
Couldn’t beat them solo, but manages with +2 Godrick Soldiers helping me.

use the wolves ashes and fight the misbegotten right by the entrance. doing that i was able to kill him without having to deal with the crucible knight as well. when fighting the crucible knight you HAVE to be patient and only hit him once or twice. i was really frustrated with this fight until i used a shield and was very patient when waiting for an opening to attack instead of just spamming rolls and attacks
Great shield soldier ashes for the win. Only 5 more legendary weapons to go

120 attempts in and I've only killed the Misbegotten 4 times

most intense 5 minutes of parrying of my entire life, almost popped a nerve

I came to Redmane Castle pretty early into game as a Sorcerer character and both the zone and bosses were horrible to fight, but I'm glad I played through Redmane Castle otherwise it would be boring to just unlock the Grace right away.

Apparently if you progress the plot (ergo, beat 2 shard bearers Godrick and Rennala), this fight can be COMPLETELY skipped. I beat rennala and when i got the go ahead to go to altus plateau, i went to this area to fight them and the festival had already started. i WISH i could still fight them, but apparently i inadvertently missed out

Skeletal Militiamen for distractrion, and, yes seriously, the Grafted Dragon.

Snag Flame of the Redmanes from beside the Fort Gael North grace and then go town on stance breaking these 2 goobers

"Take advantage of this by luring it across the arena and fighting it alone while the Crucible Knight catches up."
I must have been playing the wrong game because the Crucible Knight was zooming towards me from across the arena every time without fail. Worst fight.

Lion’s Claw trivializes this fight. Put it on a straight sword so that once you get low on health flasks from abusing L2, you can easily punish the knight with individual R1s to finish him off. Plus any build can equip a straight sword, low reqs and low weight.

This should be listed as a Greater Foe boss, not a Field boss. Both the victory message and the rune reward reflect this.

I can kill the misbegotten in 30 seconds flat. On my 20th try, still haven’t once taken off more than 15% of the crucibles health. Even 1 vs 1 with time to prepare he’s an absolute beast that I can’t dent as a warrior build.

Easily tied with Godskins as the worst boss fights in the game.

So why exactly are these two just hanging out together at Redmane castle? They missed the Radahn festival and decided to just chill there?

Horrendous as a caster. Still haven’t beaten them. The warrior is weak to rotton breath but half the time I can’t get away from it quick enough. Nearly hurled my controller at the tv tonight

I beat these guy by stagger misbegotten warrior with my ape gang before the crucible knight join in then run to the opposite side to rebuff and heal myself while the crucible knight massacre all the ape then i roll attack the crucible knight, it take about 20 try each time i learn something new to beat them.

Kill off the misbegotten asap then parry the crucible knight till he dies

I got stuck here a little bit with my no summons, no cheese run. Finally got them down at level 57 with a +8 Great Mace with Fire affinity on a neanderthal STR build. The Misbegotten is a bit of a DPS race to burn him down—eventually I got his patterns into my idiot brain, and I'd either jump attack or (preferably) charge R2 after one of his combos. He's not too hard to stagger, fortunately.
The key was to have him about dead by the time the Crucible Knight ambled over to me, and then finish him off and turn and run to the other side of the arena to drink Flask of Wondrous Physick and heal up. This jerk worked the same way—count the swings of his combos, and then either jump or charge attack. I actually staggered him after a couple R2s with the Great Mace, to my surprise. If I needed to heal, I sprinted away. His flying air attack is a good opportunity to either create space from him or dodge towards his landing for a quick strike as he recovers. For the back half of his fight, it was a matter of adding the tail strikes to the count of his regular attacks.

While I've rarely ever been more furious in a game, this fight taught me patience and parry frames...
