Colosseums |

![]() |
The practice had died out by the age of King Consort Radagon, but remains of the arenas where ritual combat took place can still be found in every land.
|
Colosseums are special Locations in Elden Ring. They are large arenas placed around the Lands Between but were inaccessible until the Colosseum Update of December 7th 2022. Everyone who downloads the Free DLC can now access the Colosseums and engage in Arena Style pvp matches for up to 6 players.
According to the Ritual Sword Talisman, the Colosseums were once arenas where ritualistic battles took place. Combats were held to honor the Erdtree but these rituals are no longer practiced.
Colosseum Locations
There are a total of 3 Colosseums in Elden Ring.
Locations:
- Limgrave: Large structure found in the north. Follow the path north of Warmaster's Shack. [Elden Ring Map Link]
- Caelid: The most northern part of main Caelid. Can be reached by using the Deep Siofra Well. [Elden Ring Map Link]
- Leyndell, Royal Capital: The Colosseum in Leyndell can be seen immediately when you enter the city from East Capital Rampart. [Elden Ring Map Link]
After activating them for the first time, players can reach them from the Roundtable Hold. There is a statue located next to Roderika that can be interacted with to access the Colosseums.
List of Colosseums
- Limgrave Colosseum
- Caelid Colosseum
- Leyndell Colosseum (Royal Colosseum)
PvP Modes
Up to 6 players can:
- Duel Mode: Two Tarnished face off in a duel to the death, and without the ability to respawn. (Leyndell Colosseum, Caelid Colosseum)
- United Combat: combatants will be divided into two teams to fight in timed battles with the ability to respawn. Each death and respawn grants points to the adversaries, offering victory to the team with the higher score. (Limgrave Colosseum, Caelid Colosseum)
- Combat Ordeal: it’s every Tarnished for themselves. Combatants in this mode can also respawn until the timer hits zero, and the one with the most points will prevail as victor. (Limgrave Colosseum, Caelid Colosseum)

Honest question.
Do the collosseums work with standard match making, like player levels being taken into account?
Is it worth trying to find matches early in the game or should I wait until my player level is up in the 150 range or higher?
Does anyone know if you can use Raw Meat Dumplings in the 1v1 Duel Format?

this update is the biggest one we've got in a while thank u from soft

The most beautyful of all colosseums, the Leyndell one is sadly a sweatlord playground with most people above 1500+hours registered on Steam
The caelid one crashed my game on launch and nowadays is completely dead. I waited for like 20 minutes on meta lv 125-135 characters then gave up
Limgrave one is still the best

it is a bit lame that there is no option to do Co-Op against the Ai in no way, shape or form.
I'm surprised they didn't implement a co-op wave fighting mode

Pro tip for faith builds: Cast Elden Stars on mages to keep them busy.

pls do that all the players spawn at same level it takes so much time for higher level players to get into matches

Today the breaking point finally came. I joined a free for all 6 people match and when someone started spamming Waves of Gold, we all ganked him. It was glorious to see all these enemies unite for a common goal, even though right when he fell we proceeded to fight each other instantly

Amazing, the update was like 2 days ago, the wiki had just been updated, andi it is already flooded with people complaining about losing. here s an unpopular opinion: get good!

Might be worth mentioning that from the roundtable you can fight any mode in any colosseum. E.g. you can do united combat in the leyndell colosseum

Blasphemous blade rules multiplayer combat. Heals with each WA, against multiple opponents. All combatants are too dumb to usually band together to stop the player and they runaway and refill health and get kills. This is gonna have to be nerfed now smh.

I really, really hope there’s not a ranking system.
It’s becoming apparent that the solution to losses and a bad connection is just closing the game.
If there is a ranking system, hopefully it’s just total points not losses. If not this is going to turn into a game closing fight system.

Buffs are the king of 1v1 in these matches. Players have time to buff between rounds and enough time before the match.
Also something has changed in the i frames to make them much more generous to colossal weapon users which makes almost every fight nothing but colossal swords.

I’m having fun but the crack are starting to appear. Lag is a big deal in here. Players can manage to always hit you, but never be hit.
Also the free for alls are dominated by high damage spells, fast rolling and running away till you catch an easy kill. Hopefully the game of the year award will encourage some serious networking do overs

Anyone know how the match making works level wise? Like would a level 100 character fight people within a 10 level range or what?
I read that you can make matches against npcs as a practice mode? Is that true?

There's some people that instead of having just "Combatent" on their username have "Golden Combatent", is that a type of ranking system for the colosseums?

This is so fun.
I love it, it’s like smash bros Elden ring haha

yes I have the same issue, all the limits of the fights are stablished in the arena mode, once you can move we are fighting: this is not the duelist sign, but a lot of players are waiting to let them buff etc, that is giving advantage, because you dont know if they will wait for you buff ing or perhaps they are attacking inmediatly or whatever. If the arena rules want the players buff then would be a time of invulnerability as in invasions.

i know it might seem rude for me to immediately jump at you before you do your emotes/get ready during a duel, but i'm doing it because i got burned by a rot breath user because i didn't immediately rush my opponent. (there's no cover in the arena)

I just got summoned to the inside of the Ashen Capitol colosseum somehow (my sign was at Main Academy Gate). No idea how the host got inside or how they summoned me from so far away, but the arena looks cool. Has this happened to anyone else?

Wait a minute the patterns on the maps aren't roofs??? Those are floors??!!!??!!!

Can anyone explain to me why people in Combat Ordeals dont fight each other as much as two particular people in the fight?? It feels like people are teaming up to do either nothing after waiting forever to have a true free-for-all fight. What's the point of the combat ordeal if most people are just watching ONLY the two others go at it? That isnt fun man.
