Black Knife Set Elden Ring Notes and Tips
- The Black Knife Armor can be altered to the Black Knife Armor (Altered) to remove the cape.
- The chest armor piece of this set muffles the sound of the wearer's footsteps, similar to the effect of the Crepus's Vial talisman and the Assassin's Approach incantation. The chest armor piece needs to be unaltered, with the cape intact, to receive this bonus. The cape only adds 0.2 weight, so leaving it on is highly advised. This silence effect also affects the wearer's rolls and jumps.
- The chest piece comes with an almost fully transparent cloak, including a hood.
- The hood is worn over the following helms and other headwear:
- Poise updated to patch 1.07. See Patch Notes for details.

I swear that every time I see someone wearing this set, it's Type A character.

put on gloves, boots and altered chestpiece and knight helm for ds3 starting armor drip

I wish there was a "lesser black knife set" to make the player able to cosplay those invisible lesser black knife assassins

Another benefit for fashion souls here is that the Black Knives are all female, so this armour is gonna fit if you want your character to have a less bulky silhouette.
Plus it's one of the few gauntlets that has claw tipped fingers. So yes, edgy af.
Colours also match perfectly with the Moonlight Greatsword when it's not buffed, since it has a faint teal undertone.
But that also means you literally won't be able to match it with almost anything else in the game unless you're colourblind or just don't care about the fashion.

Wish it didn't have the big goofy pauldrons, otherwise I think the armor looks really nice. And the silence ability outweighs the pauldrons for me.

the chest piece is the best drip AND has utility, what can i ask more
Consecrated snowfields, huh? I didnt plan on making an black knife build anyways. No fun allowed.

Wearing this set breaks the mimic. You will see the mimic (such as a box) and yourself at the same time.
- Anonymous
oddly enough, the chestpiece prevents you from going invisible for whatever reason
- Anonymous
It would have made more sense if the greaves muffled footstep sounds tbh
Ah, movement in water pools is also silent, from what I observed. My favorite set so far, been playing a stealth character is very funny in a soulsborne. The Black Knife is very badass, and a full Black Assassin Cosplay makes the Mimic Tear almost a Black Knife Tiche twin.
This made my character movement so silent that it's giving me headache. After 140 hours hearing the cling clang at every roll, this is kind unsettling.
I feel like it's making even Torrent silent. I've been jumping R2 almost any mob from Torrent one inch away them.

Could anyone with a set they aren't using please drop trade me this set so I can have it early? If so let me know and we can message on Xbox!
The chest piece's cloak effect bugs out the Mimic Veil, causing your character to be fully visible. It looks really funny. Especially if you go to Raya Lucaria and get the cage one

I use that chest piece all the time for the silence effect, it helps that it looks cool as hell
- Anonymous
The transparent cloak looks cool but I also wish I could get one with a fully opaque black cloak.
- Anonymous
wish it made your head invisible like the black knives in the game

So this armor seems to negate frostbite? Blessed dew talisman equipped with this armor and you take no damage after your bar is maxed out.

I created a frenzy character, gave her a katana and called her Lady of the Edge

If I see you wearing this I'm going to automatically assume there is 14 empty Monster cans next to you and your waifu pillow

Don't know if anyone else is having this issue so I'm gonna leave a comment anyway just in case. As of 1.04 (at least for me as I am unable to find confirmation or denial of others having this issue as of yet) the chest is bugged causing immediate CTD and character corruption upon equip. I was able to replicate this on multiple characters thanks to back-ups.

If you want to hit poise breakpoints, have decent reduction, but still cosplay an assassin: try black knife hood + chest, and fire prelate hands + legs. Exactly 51 poise, 68 with bull goat talisman, so you are hitting both 2 most important breakpoints, still get silenced movement, and it’s kinda hard to tell difference. Looks almost the same.
After further testing it seems barring the duelist chest, any chest piece with a hood will work (keep the hood up) with the list of helmets provided here

Yo this Chestpiece is a game changer. I hate that term, but it absolutely applies here. You get the drop on pretty much every enemy, which is awesome, but then you also get the buff on attacking enemies you haven't agroed. In Farum Azula I feel like I'm just casually walking around deleting folks. Only downside is... I felt like a jerk when I discovered Iji's burning body surrounded by folks dressed like me.

For some reason using this causes you not to disappear when using the mimic tear
- Anonymous
It's a pity it has so many metal parts. This armour doesn't really suggest a stealthy assassin.

there's quite a few hoods and altered headgear that works with the hooded armor, not to mention fingerprint helm
- Anonymous
you are not longer silent if you use the altered version of the chestpiece lol

I'm not sure how to edit but Eccentric's Hood (Altered) keeps the hood

AND ON THE NIGHT OF THE BLACK KNIVES, GODWYN WAS FIRST TO PEEEERISH

Found a couple more helms that work with the chest piece to keep the cloak up.
Nox Monk Hood (Altered)
Nox Swordstress Crown (Altered)
these 2 both look great with the armor as well.
- Anonymous
weird finding while I was looking at helmets to pair with this set is that the Eccentric hood does still have the black knife hood over it when its altered. Not sure if this works with other helmets
- Anonymous
Got this this cool set. It is great that steps are silenced. Can anyone explain how to make this invisible shifts and movements? For me it is still the same somersault even when the whole set is equiped :(
- Anonymous
The unseen form spell does not seem to visually appear when this set is equipped. I need to test with a player to see if it appears on their side

beginning of the game: wear the same armour for 30 hours
endgame: get a new exceedingly good and drippy armour every 2 hours

idk if this is supposed the be a thing but the cape on the body armor is translucent. Just picked it up after 1.03
- Anonymous
Damn, I like this armor but now I can't hear the meaty slaps of my bare feet hitting the ground >:)
- Anonymous
the nox swordstress crown (altered), the astrologer hood and the perfumer hood, go under the "invisible" hood as well, not just the fingerprint helm. I'm sure there's a lot more so it's worth testing if you're interested

Armor: Silences your footsteps.
Boots: Are we a joke to you?
- Anonymous
i have never seen a less drippy edgelord set ever, and the fricking royal remains set exists lmao
- Anonymous
as another comment says, only the torso piece applies the silent footsteps effect. additionally, if you use "alter garments" to remove the cape from the torso, it no longer silences your footsteps at all.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
As far as i know the fingerprint helmet is the only helmet that can go 'under' the cowl of the black knife torso.
- Anonymous
Only the body is silenced and you get the full effect from it alone, despite the wiki and other armor piece pages suggesting otherwise. You can simply look at your status bar for the foot icon, run near any enemy in the game that is sound-aggro, or even just turn up your audio to test this yourselves. Dunno why people perpetuate stupid lies here.
I've gotten so used to wearing this set now that if I wear anything else I forget I don't have passive silent footsteps.

This chest armor is bugged, if you alter it the silent step is removed as well, it only maintains silence when it has the cape :(

So if they have close ties to Marika, why did Marika want to kill the demigods/her children? To end the cycle of rebirth and have her child be the first to live in Death? He'd become the new Prince of Death and it was her way of defying the Erdtree/Greater Will?
Is it possible to rush this set without beating some major bosses?
- Anonymous
is this set and the Bandit set the only thief/assassin themed armor set?
- Anonymous
The ghost cloak doesn't go away if you wear the Bloodsoaked Mask or Fingerprint Helm with the chestpiece. The Fingerprint Helm even shrinks slightly to fit, so it's possible there are more helms that work with the ghost cloak.
FUN FACT: the challenge leading to this armor will also have another set of armor. it does not drop in one go you have to farm the female archers around the area. highly suggest you leave the bottom figure untouched but light the rest even if you die the figures will still be activated. there are about 3 archers on roofs and around 1-2 archers on the ground. hunt the ones on the roof unless you wish your character didn't have a stomach. the armor that is farmable from the archers is called Blue Silver.
in short, start the challenge, run like a mad man and light the three roof figures and save the bottom one for when you are done, kill the three roof archers (the ones on the ground too if you have the guts to do so). if you don't get any part of the armor let the invisible man filet you. go back in repeat the murder of archers, once you get the armor simply light the last figure.

Everyone in the comments saying this armor is edgy is just conveniently forgetting what everything else in this game looks and sounds like

I hate that the cloak is just an outline but the icons don't show it as such. Why Miyazaki?
- Anonymous
I ****ing hate just how much of the good looking armor is locked away behind so much progression.
- Anonymous
didnt realize how late game you had to be to get this armor, spent way to much effort to make my other character look edgy
- Anonymous
If you take the cloak off with tailoring, it stops being silent
- Anonymous
Anyone who already has this and doesn't use it want to let me have it? :). It's going to see me forever to get to it myself as I have limited play time. Add me on psn Ligma_Balze

It has now become edgy to call out armor for looking edgy. Praise the sun!
- Anonymous
This set makes absolutely no noise when you run/walk/jump/roll. It is the ultimate stealth set.
- Anonymous
It's in like the last area of the game. Let the Edgelords have their fun.
- Anonymous
The cape has a nice translucent effect, but you can remove it with alteration at a site of grace. The body armor makes your footsteps silent.
- Anonymous
wow this armor completely reminds me of Lord Vholran's outfit from Tales of Arise! I love it.

"they are the Nazgul: Ringwraiths, neither living nor dead. At all times they feel the presence of the Ring, drawn to the power of the One. They will never stop hunting you."
Looks awesome for my Grave Scythe character. Will get it for sure.
